This chapter takes place the next day and is still Yami's point of view for the first part of the chapter.

I wake up alone. Yugi's side of the bed is made up slightly. I smile to myself; maybe he's feeling better. As my eyes focus on the room, I notice my table on his side of the bed has been moved. Yugi's Grandpa comes in and sits on the bed.

"Yami, I've just returned from the hospital. I had to have Yugi rushed by ambulance, he can't keep fluids or anything down, so I thought it best to have him taken in." My face must have fell, because he reached down and stroked my hair. I snuggled into the light touch. "Yami do you want to rest a little while longer?" I nodded.

Grandpa got up on my bed and pulled me close. It felt strange, but comforting. I'd never known the love of my parents. Servants had raised me, they were taught to teach, not to love. I closed my eyes, lulled by the gentle strokes on my hair.

"Grandpa." I stopped. It was hard to call him that, though I'd started calling him that after Yugi and I finally got together. "Will Yugi be okay?"

"It's hard to say right now Yami. Yugi's not been eating well for the past few days, then spending yesterday in the rain only allowed whatever's making him sick to take hold. They say he's just dehydrated and a little malnourished, but he'll be okay in a day or so. Rest now, Yami. I know you didn't sleep well last night."

Needing no more encouragement, I start to drift off into a much easier sleep than I had in days. I felt Grandpa move away and fix my blankets around me. The last thing I felt was a soft kiss on my forehead.

** Normal POV **

Grandpa Moto looked down at the sleeping former Pharaoh. His heart went out to him. He'd been up and down most of the night with Yugi and hadn't slept very well. He sat in the chair near the bed for a long time just watching the young man sleep. He looked at his watch and decided to go and fix something to eat, thinking they'd both enjoy a hot meal before going and visiting Yugi at the hospital.

After a simple meal was fixed he went back up the stairs and gently shook the sleeping boy.

"Yami? Time to wake up." The crimson eyes opened, their owner stretched

"Can I take a quick shower before I eat?" Grandpa nodded, handing Yami his robe. Grandpa turned to leave, allowing Yami to get up in total privacy.

** Yami's POV **

I watched Grandpa leave the room, closing my door. I slid out from under the sheets and stretched again. I am glad that now I decided to dress the last time I got up with Yugi when he was sick. I walked into the bathroom and slid out of the boxers. I was just pulling off my shirt when I felt the gentle touch of Yugi in my mind.

/ Hey sleeping beauty, I see you finally woke up. /

// Koi, how are you feeling? //

/ I'm feeling a little better. OW! /

// What is it? Are you okay? //

/ She didn't warn me! The nurse gave me a shot in the butt! /

I had to laugh to my self. Yugi don't like needles, and I suspect that's why he's opened our link.

// Yugi, you picked a bad time to want to talk. //

/ Oh! I'm sorry Yami; I'll give you a few moments of peace. /

I could him start to cry, but I quickly used the toilet, and started running my water for a shower.

// I'm sorry, Koi, I didn't man to make you cry. //

/ You didn't. My butt hurts. /

I stepped into the steaming water and begin to wash, feeling Yugi's mental touch fade away, most likely they gave him some medicine that made him sleepy. I take a quick shower and get out. I'm in the middle of getting dressed when I hear a tap on the door. Grandpa pokes his head in and sees I'm almost ready and closes the door again. I finish pulling on my shirt, and comb my hair. I take the steps down into the kitchen. We eat the sandwiches and soup quickly and go to get into the car. We head towards the hospital, where Yugi awaits us.
