*Yami's POV *

I struggled again against Bakura. We were now in the hall. He looked over at me and then released me. I flew to my room and hastily dressed. Bakura came back in and wrapped his arms around my shoulders and this time I allowed him to escort me to the car.

At the hospital, A doctor was waiting to talk to us. He pulled Grandpa aside.

*Grandpa's POV *

The doctor's face looked bleak, he looked again at the clipboard then at me.

"What medications was your grandson prescribed?"

I hesitated and Yugi's friend Ryou slipped the bottles into my hand.

"Phenergen, Humibid, and one I cant pronounce" I handed the bottles to the doctor. He opened the one I said was the humibid and shook his head.

"This isn't humibid. I don't know what it is, but it sure isn't humibid. I'll send them to the lab to have it tested."

"What's wrong with Yugi?"

"I wasn't sure till you showed me his medications, I think he's having a reaction to one of them. He's stabilized now, but we'll know by morning how he'll be"

I could hear sounds of struggle behind me, I turned to see all of Yugi's friends holding back Yami. One of them had a Millenium item that looked like some kind of golden ax. He waved it in front of Yami and he quieted and sat down. The one with the "ax" then sat down next to Yami and wrapped an arm around him. I turned back to the doctor.

"When can we see him?"

"He's going to be in the ICU for a few days, and only two people at a time can see him, for fifteen minutes at a time. Family comes first."

"Yugi's friends and I are the only family he has."

"Very well, make a list of them, putting his closest friends at the top of the list, they will be able to visit him first, then the ones lower on the list will be allowed if he's not too warn out."

The doctor turned to leave and I went to Yami. Tears were in his eyes, he was frightened, and understandably so. I reached out and took his hands in my own. He buried his face in my shoulder, trying hard not to cry.

"Yami, He's stable right now, but they don't know what happened, the believe that a mix up at the pharmacy is to blame." The blond kid with the "ax" spoke up.

"If you want to stay here Mr. Moto, then I'll take Yami back to my place so he can rest."

A nurse came out of a door leading to the exam rooms and pointed to Yami. She had a rather nasty tone to her voice.

"He wants to see you." Yami stood and walked away with the nurse.

*Yami's POV *

"I'm sorry for the tone of voice I used, but your friend has been begging to see you."

She led me to a room where Yugi lay on a bed, various tubes and hoses were hooked up to his small frame. He reached up to hold me. I gently took him in my arms; I didn't want to dislodge any of the equipment. I tube prevented him from speaking to me, but didn't prevent him from using our link.

/ Are you al right, Yami? I know I scared you badly. /

// I'm fine now, Koi. Are you okay? //

/ I don't know, I feel a bit funny, but other than that, I guess I feel okay. /

I leaned down and kissed his cheek. He smiled and reached up to caress my cheek.

// I want to kiss you, but that tube prevents it. //

/ Trust me when I say I feel the same. I can't even smile. I hurt; they stuck a tube in me. /

Thinking that they meant the tube in his mouth, I nodded. I got the feeling that he didn't mean that.

// Koi, there are tubes and hoses everywhere, where exactly do you mean? //

He pulled back his blankets and showed me.

// Damn, that has to hurt // I winced. // Did I think that to you? //

/ Yes. /

The nurse came back to announce that I had to leave, they were getting ready to send Yugi up to ICU.

/ Yami, take Malik up on his offer, he's no longer after the puzzle you know. /

// Ok, Koi, I'll see you tomorrow then. //

The nurse ushered me out before he could respond. I went back to the waiting room. Malik walked up to me and pulled me into a hug.

"How is he, Yami?"

"He's okay, He couldn't speak, but, well you know." I shot a meaningful glance over his shoulder to Marik. Malik caught my meaning.

"Did you think of our offer Yami?" Marik asked me. I nodded.

"Yugi told me to take you up on it." Both boys grinned. I had the feeling something was up until Malik released the hug.

On the drive to Malik's home, Marik drove; Malik sat in the back seat with me. He had been holding my hand since we'd left the hospital. I wondered how they'd known what happened. It felt nice to stay somewhere where I wouldn't be reminded of Yugi so much. It was bad enough having his crush hold my hand. Malik looked at me intently, trying to comprehend the state of emotion I was in. He'd waved the Rod in my face as a scare tactic. It certainly worked. I calmed down enough to see reason.

Once at their house, Malik led me to a room, he said it was his, and he'd sleep on the couch. I went in and pulled off my shoes. I lay down on the neatly made bed, and promptly fell asleep.

*Malik's POV *

I feel so bad for Yami. Yugi could have died. Bakura had called us to tell us what happened. I only told Yami I'd sleep on the couch, the couch in my room. I wish he'd stayed awake longer, I really want to talk to him.

Marik's not too keen on the idea of us sleeping together. It seems a bit awkward to me too, but I want to give it a try. Yugi's told me that it's incredible. The feelings shared between him and Yami are wonderful.

I go to the kitchen and watch Marik cooking supper. He's a good cook, and I'm glad to have him take on a fair burden of the chores. Whatever he's cooking smells delicious and he waves for me to come over to him.

"Taste this Malik, I hope you like it." He holds up a spoon full of a red sauce. I take a taste.

"Wow, that is good." I wish he'd only kiss me now.

\\ Watch what you think! \\

\ Sorry, Marik. \

He bends down and kisses me. My heart nearly stopped beating. He pulled away quickly.

"What you want more?" I shake my head. I know it will never happen, so why admit it.

I go and sit on one of the barstools behind the counter, and watch Marik from behind. He catches my gaze and turns to look at me. He takes a pot off the stove and brings it to the sink in front of me. There's a colander sitting in the sink and he drains the pasta into it, sending a cloud of steam into my face.

"Go wake Yami, tell him he needs to eat."

I hop down from the stool and go back to my room. Yami looks as he's not sleeping very peacefully so I gently wake him. He wakes with a start, flinching slightly at my light touch.

"You need to eat Yami. Supper's ready." He gets up from the bed and follows me to the dining room. He sits down quietly and begins to eat.

*Yami's POV *

I am grateful for the chance to be away from Yugi being so sick. I look at Malik and Marik. They are quietly discussing something, but I don't quite catch all of it. Marik glances up at me and smiles.

"You are quiet, Yami. Still thinking of Yugi?" I nod. He reaches over and pats my hand. "I know I'd feel the same if something happened to Malik."

"He loves you, Marik. You ignore that. Your hikari's love should never be ignored."

Malik hangs his head, fearing an outburst from Marik. Marik slips his arm around his waist.

"I'm beginning to see that." He took his other hand and cupped Malik's chin and drew him into a deep kiss. They break apart a few moments later, and Malik's chest is heaving slightly.

"I-I didn't expect that." Malik looked into his own yami's eyes and blushed.

"Oh, stop that." Marik growled and laughed.

Both look at me, and smile. Marik breaks the silence.

"Anyone ready for dessert? Malik made a chocolate chip cheese cake. I hope it's as good as it smelled." Malik got up, slapping Marik lightly on the shoulder. He got the cake out of the refrigerator and cut into it. He put slices on small plates and carried two to the table. He served me and Marik then went back for his own slice. I take a bite as he sits down.

"Wow, Malik, this is good!" The compliment made him blush.

"Hey!" Marik teased. "I'm the only one who's allowed to make him blush!" Malik choked on the bite he just took.

After dinner, we washed the dishes and settled in the living room to watch some comedy with some guy named Robin Williams. His character's wife was divorcing him, so he dresses as a woman to see his children. It took my mind off the current situation. After the movie, I yawned and stretched.

"Good night, you two. I'm going to bed."

A few hours later, I heard Malik come in and settle in on the couch across the room. Pretty soon, I heard him snoring softly. I dozed off to the sounds.

The ringing of a phone woke me, and I could hear Malik talking.

"Really? So he's going to be okay? That's good to hear. I'll tell Yami. He can't have visitors? Oh, only family. Yami is family though."

I sit up to listen a bit better

"Ok, well that just sucks. Yeah, I'll tell him." Malik turns the phone off.

"That was Yugi's Grandpa. They won't let him have visitors other than him. There was a mix up at the pharmacy, they gave him some kind of heart medicine, and he had a bad reaction to it. They said he'll be okay though." Malik crossed the room and sat down next to me. "Don't worry about the phone waking me, you've been shouting in your sleep. You also have been thrashing in the bed."

"I'm sorry. I'm not used to sleeping alone."

"That's okay." He thought for a moment. "How bout I sleep with you, Yugi and I are built similarly so it might make you a bit more comfortable."

I nod and we settle down into the bed. He's right, as he snuggles into my arms; it feels sort of like holding Yugi. I fall deeply into sleep, feeling his rise and fall of his chest soothing me, as he falls asleep.

Okay, well more in chapter 7, including a Malik/Marik lemon and a few more surprises. Yugi gets released from the hospital and him and Yami stay with Marik and Malik to give Grandpa time to rest.
