Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ The Best Democracy Money Can Buy ❯ Seeking Advice ( Chapter 3 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Music Lover’s Alert: †œCareless Whisper†by George Michael. I have mixed feelings about the lyrics of this
song, but it has a really good beat and it fits this chapter.
Chapter 3 Seeking Advice
Tea and Serenity sat in a coffee shop sippin g lattes. Tea’s was caramel-flavored while Serenity’s was
raspberry-flavo red. Tea wore a yellow tube top with jean shorts and flip-flops. Serenity dressed more
conservatively, wearing  ;a pink T-shirt with a cute little monkey on it and jeans that covered her legs
completely. Joey monitored her wardrobe closely, so she was a little uncomfortable in the summer  ;heat,
but she had grown accustomed to it.
â€&oel ig;Tea?†the younger girl asked, “Do you think there’s& nbsp;any chance that I’ll ever get back together with
Tristan?â€
“Absolutely!†the brunette replied, stirring more sugar into her latte.
&aci rc;€œHow do you know?â€
&aci rc;€œYou’re perfect for each&n bsp;other, just like Yugi and me!†Tea replied confidently.
“So, when do you think we’ll get back&nbs p;together?†Serenity asked wistfully.
“I don’t know. Probably right after&nbs p;Tristan graduates. I think he just wants to use college&nbs p;as a chance to
find out if you&ac irc;€™re really the one. Heâ€&tra de;ll probably try out a few girls over there, but they won’t mean
anything to him. In fact, I think you should do the same&nbs p;thing while he’s goneâ€&brvb ar; unless you already know
for sure.â€
Serenity knew that Teaâ&e uro;™s words were meant to be comforting, but somehow she still was not convinced.  ;
“Are you and Yugi going to do that date-other-people-thing while&nbs p;you’re in college?â€
“Nope! Yugi and I are rock-solid!â€
The door to the& nbsp;coffee shop jangled open, and Yugi stepped inside. “Oh my God! Yugi!†Tea&n bsp;exclaimed.
She got up from her seat& nbsp;and ran over to him, then threw her arms around his shoulders and planted a
big, wet kiss on his lips. Although Yugi had grown a couple of centimeters since he was sixteen, he still
stood shorter than Tea, and&nbs p;she had to stoop to reach his mouth.
Tea stood in line with Yugi holding his hand blissfully while he ordered a mocha. As they waited for his
drink to be made, Tea snogged him in a corner of the store. Serenity watched from a distance&n bsp;with envy,
thinking of the few times when she and Tristan had managed to sneak away from the rest of the group
to make out with each other. Tristan had always been a complete gentleman with her. He never pushed
his luck by trying to feel anything that a&n bsp;bikini would cover, and Serenity always felt safe with him. She
wondered if she would ever find another man as respectful as him.
Tea and Yugi sat back down with Serenity, an d Tea immediately picked up the conversation where it had
left off. &aci rc;€œI was just telling Serenity how&nb sp;you and I are going to stay true to each other&nbs p;all through college
even though weâ&e uro;™ll be thousands of kilometers apart. Isn’t that right?â€
Yugi rubbed the back of his neck with one hand. “Tea,&n bsp;about that, I… I want to explore a little. Four years
is an awfully long time to be apart, and I just hope we can stay friends in the meantime.â€
Tea’s jaw dropped. “You’reâ €¦ breaking up with me?†< br> “Um… kinda, yeah,&acir c;€ Yugi scrunched down in his seat and prepared for Tea’s outburst.
Instead of& nbsp;getting angry, Tea simply stared at him in disbelief. Yugi’s stomach turned sour as he stared
into his mocha and waited  ;for blows that never came. “So, we’ll still be friends, right?â€
Tea laughed nervously. “Yeah! We’ll be friends forever! Don’t go forgetting about me wh ile you’re in
Egypt!â€&nb sp;A bead of sweat formed on her forehead as& nbsp;she spoke.
Yugi looked up at her in relief. “Thank you, Tea. You’r e a very important person to me, and your
friendship means everything to me.â€
Serenity watched her two fri ends and sighed. She wished that she had more time to talk with Tristan
before her brother pulled her away from him. Maybe if she hadn’t burst into tears, Joey w ould not have
got upset and dragged her away and she could have made an agreement with him like Yugi and Tea had
made with each other. She wished&nbs p;from the depths of her heart that she could turn back the clock and
do that moment over a gain, but she knew that it was impossible.
“Are you OK, Sereni ty?†Tea asked.
“I’ll be OK eventually. I just feel so lonely right now,†The auburnette&n bsp;replied.
“Keep your chin up, Serenity. I’m sure that there are plenty of guys out there for you. What about Duke?
He always liked you,†Yugi said in a comforting tone.
“I don’t think that’s suc h a good idea,†Tea cautioned, &a circ;€œDuke is still recovering from the loss of his
company. He’s too depressed to be in a relationship. Serenity, you need someone more up-beat. Why
don’t you try Mokuba? He’s in some of you classes, isn’t he?& acirc;€
Serenity wrinkled her nose at the thought. “Mokuba!? Eew! He threw a spit-ball at me in seventh
grade.â€
“That&nb sp;means he has a secret crush on you,†Tea replied.
Serenity shook her head. â&eur o;œNo way! I know he’s matured a lot since then, but I still can’t shake that awful image of him from my mind. I need someone older and more responsible.†< br>
“It’s hard to find someone more responsible than&nb sp;Mokuba. He’s the vice-president of Kaiba Corporation,
and he goes there every day to help out his brother& nbsp;after school. I think that you should at least get to&nb sp;
know him better,†Yugi said.
Serenity sighed again. “OK. I’ll take your advice. I guess I could use some more friends now that most of
you are leaving. By the way Tea, where are you going?&aci rc;€
“I got a dance scholarship at Tokyo University. All those lessons finally paid off!â€
“That ’s great, Tea! I hope you come back to visit us often,&ac irc;€ Serenity replied.
“Every& nbsp;chance I get,†Tea agreed.
The three friends finished their coffee and changed the topic to their glory days of duel monsters. Since
Yugi had said good-bye to the pharaoh, he had won several minor tournaments on his own. However, he
was still obsessed with the& nbsp;mysteries of Ancient Egypt and longed to study the era further. He was very
eager to graduate and leave for Cairo University.&n bsp;
