Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ The Christmas Shoes ❯ Chapter 1
Dragon and Sword Master: I am back again with a new songfic, just in time for the holidays. This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I do not own anything that you recognize. I know that the song says sir, but I think that Serenity fits the overall role of this song. If you don't agree then that's too bad. This is in Serenity's point of view.
The Christmas Shoes
I was standing in a long line at the Wal-Mart Super Store, filled with a basket of toys for her two children, Ryu and Luna. I noticed that in front of her was a little boy that reminded her of Ryu holding a pair of shoes. I really wasn't in the mood right then, because I had waited until the last minute to buy some gifts for them and Yugi was waiting outside. I had left the keys in, so he wouldn't freeze to death, but was sure that he was getting impatient.
It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes
I noticed that his family wasn't doing well financially because of all the tattered clothes that he was wearing. I did not believe what I heard him say when he was paying for those shoes.
His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say
Chorus:
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight
He reached into his pockets and pulled out every penny that he had and it seemed like an eternity until the clerk said that there was not enough to buy them. The clerk was sad, because he knew that he couldn't buy his mother something that I would like for one last time. He was saddened, and turned to look at me. I was saddened by what he told me about his mama.
He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes
I just had to help this little guy out. His mama was so sick, and he was trying to buy her a present, so I gave him some of my money, not even thinking about it. Turning around, he put it on the counter and thanked me.
So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great
As he left the store, I noticed that he was so happy, and his happiness had rubbed off on me. I had helped a total stranger, a stranger that was in trouble.
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about
Repeat Chorus
The clerk had rung up my purchases, and I left. We went home and that is the end of my story.
