[Yami's castle courtroom]
Lena: Eh, hem, I'm the narrator. Yami and Tea are at the castle where his father was receiving departing gifts. He's gonna die, sadly. The kids are now early teens, by the way. They became best friends even though his dad was kind of disgusted on having a low-class friend.
Yami paced back and forth in the courtroom. His father was barely awake. There was nothing anyone could do, but to stall his death using some magic. Most mages have gone on strike before, saying they are not treated well because of poor treatment.
"You think he'll be alright, Tea?"
Tea didn't know what to say. "I'm not sure...You're father may die..."
"He will..."
They walked along side the wall. There stood in the corner was a teen, slightly older than Yami. He has blondish hair and standing beside a brunette girl. [Joey: Here comes super Joey!] He was provoking a guard.
"What you ya, mean, I can't use the bathroom here? I need to GO!"
"Sorry, but you have to go to your home and do your business. No trespassing sfter the boundary of the courtroom." The guard replied.
"What?!"
"Joey," murmured the his sister. "just go home and use the bathroom." Se was embarrassed obviously.
"Are you guys so rich and powerful, you don't let a common guy like me use ya..ROYAL bathroom?"
The guard picked up the boy by his collar and almost threw him to the ground when...
"Stop, Orn." Yami said.
The guard dropped him and walked away muttering. Yami and Tea walked to the two.
"I'm sorry, but we are on high alert." Yami said. "There has been a threat of thieves running around. Even some assassins trying to kill my father."
They stared at Yami. Serenity nudged Joey and she kneeled a bit to the ground. He did the same hesitantly.
"What are you doing..?" Yami asked.
"Uh, bowing? Like we, the lowly are supposed to."
"Stop that." Yami shouted a bit too loud. "I mean, stop that. I don't like to be bowed to. Especially if you're my age or lower."
Joey looked confused. Serenity got up but Joey stayed down. "What, not good enough for ya?"
"Huh?" Tea backed away.
"What, the upcoming king wants me to kiss his feet or something? Well, fine!" Joey crawled to Yami's foot.
"Hey!" Yami jumped back.
"Ugh, Joey, you-are-making an ass of yourself!" She picked Joey up. "Stop!"
Joey leaned back on the wall.
"Sorry..." Serenity turned red. "My brother doesn't like kings that much...or princes."
"Why?" Tea asked.
"We're from a city at the south end of the country. We're new here and well, we moved because of Lord Pike." Serenity looked down. "He killed our father and we needed to get away. My brother has been ill-tempered ever since. My name's Serenity, and this is Joey."
"I'm Tea." She replied. "I'm sure Yami's father will accept you into the village. He's pretty nice."
Joey's stomach growled...much more like roared.
"Uh you got any food...?"
Tea led them to the table where Joey pigged himself out. The chef was eventually shooing them out and cursing. Joey threw a canister in the air, mumbling and...it hit the chef.
"You dumbass!" cried Tea, as they ran out.
Joey and Yami laughed their hearts out as Serenity paced, red again. "Oh Joey."
--
[The street]
Joey kicked a can as they walked into the village.
"It'll be a long time before he will let us eat dessert again," Yami laughed.
They heard a scream as they were walking. It came from the center plaza.
"Did you hear that?!" Tea eyes widened.
Serenity nodded, sulking. "We should get out of here. There might be bandits or thieves!"
Yami stood for a while, but nodded. Let's go."
"Phew." Serenity started walking back to the castle, but Joey caught her arm. "Who said we were going to the castle?"
Joey and Yami smiled at each other. Joey reassured Serenity. "It'll be a good time to practice using my lance and your archery. Don't you want to try them out on some lame bandits?"
Serenity frowned. "We'll be killed!"
Tea nodded. "I don't even have a weapon!"
"Then watch from the sidelines as me and Yami kick their butts!"
The two ran to the plaza as the girls followed. Yami took out his sword, gold and silver with golden serpents and eyes on it. They stopped to see a blonde teen running away from three men. In their hands were daggers. Serenity gasped as they girl crashed into Tea.
The girl told them to run. "Those bandits...oh my gosh, run!" She looked at Yami. "Huh...., the prince?"
The townspeople scattered into their houses and alleys.
"You two have no business here." Yami said raising his sword. "Be gone."
The thieves flashed yellow, sickened teeth. "Oh look, here's the ill pharoah's last hope, the mighty kid prince that will save us all from the evils!"
One of them twiddled with his dagger in the air. He walked up to Yami and twirled his chubby finger [Tea: Ew, it's hairy too! Lena: Shhh!!] in the air. "Let's provoke the silly boy." He slowly inched his finger to Yami's forehead, but stopped, centimeters away. Blood surged through his yellow teeth and Yami pulled his sword from his belly. The bandit landed on his head on the ground.
The bandits watched stupidly.
"I said leave." Yami brandished the weapon again. Tea clutched his shoulder. "Yami..!"
The two men dove right in. Yami defended one bandit while Joey blocked the other. Tea grabbed the girl's and Serenity's hand and rushed to a small distance where they can still watch the fight.
"Please..." Tea whispered.
"The saved girl still had her jaws open. "Thank you...um, my name's...Mana."
"Tea."
"Serenity. That's my brother...Eek!"
Joey almost got stabbed. The boys sweated, but froze because more men came from the shadows. Three more. [Joey: Holy... Lena: *bonks Joey on the head* Good stories are not interrupted! Joey: x__x]
One of them threw his dagger at Joey's back, but it floated in mid-air. Mana's hand held a wand and it glowed like the knife. It fell, and Mana stumbled a bit.
"I'm no good at magic..."
Serenity grinned. "You're a mage!"
"Not a good one."
"What do you mean?! You stopped the dagger!" Serenity quealed with delight. She had never seen anyone use magic because of the mages' strike.
"I meant to redirect it back to the bandit, but it dropped!"
"You still saved my brother!" Serentity flashed a smile.
"Thanks...where's Tea?"
"Going to get help!" Tea shouted from a distance. Serenity nodded. She grabbed Mana's arm and dragged her to a flight of stairs.
"We'll be safe here. Mana, try to use your magic to help them. I'll shoot."
Serenity shivered as she aimed her bow at a thief. She shot, but only cut some skin. There was blood. The man turned to see the girls and threw an axe at them. Mana deflected it.
--
[The castle]
Tea panted as she approached the gate. A relutant guard let her in. She told him about the bandits, but he shrugged. Tea made a glare. The courtroom was empty. She ran to see where Yami's father was, but no one was inside the halls. She didn't know much of the outer places of the castle, only where they went the most to play in. She ran to a corridor where the only light came from scattered torches. Tea grabbed one.
"Hello?" Her voice echoed.
She opened some doors, but to find nothing. There was one more door which revealed a giant room. The lighting was much brighter, but the source of light was unknown. Usually, all light came from fire or bewitched items. She saw a huge statue situated at the back of the room. It showed a woman with outstretched wings. This was of course, Ma'at, the goddess of truth and justice. Tea, knowing she must respect any shrines to the gods, kneeled down on a knee. She clasped her hands quickly and then got up.
"I'm sorry, but I need to find help..," she murmured. She was about to leave when she heard a soft hum coming from Ma'at. [Remita: Very creative...ouch! Lena: -__-] Tea turned to see a golden shawl adorned with heiroglyphics [?] covering something sticking out of the ground at Ma'at's feet. Tea ran to the shawl and took it off, revealing two sabers. Tea gasped.
"I can't.."
Ma'at stood still, but Tea felt the statue wanted to urge Tea into wielding them. Tea remembered, she didn't have much time. Tea clasped her hands together once again and chanted thank yous. She took the swords and the shawl, wrapping it around her abdomen. "I'm coming!"
She ran and closed the door behind her. She hid her blades from the guard, who was about to fall asleep anyways.
--
[The street, again...]
Yami landed on one knee. Two more to go. Joey stood up and almost collasped. The bandits were tired too, but had more energy.
"You little brats..."
One dove to Yami, but he countered and slid backwards. His arm was bleeding and badly. The boys attacked head-on, but all four stumbled. Serenity, shaking, shot an arrow and it hit one man's foot. The guy pulled the arrow out. Serenity sweatdropped. That was the last arrow. Mana breathed heavily. Too much magic tired her out. The bandit lunged at Joey, but he kicked his hand. At that moment, the two came after Yami at once, running to him as he was crouched down. Tea jumped from a rooftop and blocked both knives.
"Tea?!"
"Guys! Stand up!"
Joey and Yami rose and Tea having a little difficulty, slashed a knive out of one's hand. She sidekicked his face and elbowed his stomach. Impressed, Yami went to the man and thrusted his sword into his chest, letting him fall finally. Joey grabbing an arrow from the ground, threw it into the other bandit's arm, making him drop his weapon. He pluged his spear into his body and he fell as well.
"Joey!" Serenity screamed as she ran down the stairs of the empty house into the street. She leaped into his arms. "You're bleeding! What will mom say?!"
He panted. "Mom already kicked me out of the house, so...it doesn't matter." Joey smiled.
Mana sheepishly came down too. "Thank you, I owe you all."
Yami covered his red arm.
"We...need to go back to the castle. Warn my dad."
Tea held him up. "And get you guys mended."
Yami nodded and there, the five newfound friend went back home.
