Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ The forgotten secret ❯ The Warnings ( Chapter 7 )
Chapter Seven: The Warnings
~At Seto's Place~
Seto opened his eyes and looked around, but he couldn't see a thing. It was patch black in the room. It was quiet; Seto could hear his own heart beat. It was cold too, chilled in the bones. `Were the powers cut off? That can't be!' Thought Seto. He tried to find his desk, but there weren't anything around. `Where am I?' Seto was confused. And then he heard foot steps coming from behind. He turned around.
"Mokuba?" Nobody replied.
"Who are you?" Still nobody replied, and all he could hear is the waiflike footsteps. Seto wanted to go and have a look, but he found that he couldn't move anymore. `Ah?' Seto was a bit panicking now. The footsteps went closer and closer to him and suddenly it stopped right in front of him.
"Brother, I've been waiting for you!" Seto heard a little girl's voice.
"What's this?" Seto asked, he still couldn't move, and he couldn't see the little girl either.
"This is a piece of your memory, it sealed by the millennium items." The little girl's voice was innocent. "And I am a warning, brother."
"Stop calling me brother already." Seto was impatient, he barely knew her.
Then it was a deadly silence, the girl seemed vapour in the air. Seto still couldn't move, he didn't like this whole experience. `Am I kidnapped?' Seto didn't know how this idea got into his head. `Who's the ethereal girl and where is she now?'
"I'm here, brother." Seto heard that voice again.
"What did you come from?" Seto was stunned.
"Your mind…Bro…Seto, you have to help me, please." The little girl begged.
"What can I do? I can't even move." Seto was mad.
"But, Seto, it's all in your mind. Of course you can move, just open your mind."
Seto thought about that and tried to walk forward, and he did it. He wanted to grab the little girl, but no matter how far he went, it seemed that little girl was always one step ahead.
"Seto, I told you, I am just a memory, why didn't you listen?" The little girl sighed.
"Why did you trap me here?" Seto asked.
"I didn't. You came here by yourself." The little girl replied.
"Brother, you really don't remember me at all? But then how…"
"Stop calling me brother! I'm not your brother, now I have to think about how to get out here!" Seto snapped. And then he heard the little girl cried. He knew that he hurt her, but he didn't know her at all.
"Seto, you were my brother…You said you won't forget me…You said you will protect me from anything and anyone…Seto, can't you remember? You asked me to wait for you, to warn you…Seto, please…Try to remember me…Please…" The little girl sounded so desperate and helpless.
What she said was so familiar to Seto, but he… Seto kneed down on the ground, his head ached, he closed his eyes, the temperature was getting colder and colder, Seto thought he was drowning, he could breathe…But all of a sudden, Seto felt warm, he felt the light shone on him softly.
"It's ok, brother; you can open your eyes now. You've broke the seal of the forbidden memory." Slowly, Seto opened his eyes. He saw a little girl who dressed gaudily in white Egyptian clothes. Behind her, it was an entrance; the light was coming from it. She beamed at him. "You… were my sister." Seto remembered that, but still he didn't know where this sister came from. "But, who are you?" Seto asked.
"Come, I will show you." The little girl grabbed his hand and walked into the entrance. Seto didn't resist but followed obediently.
"Here, take a look, brother, it may refresh your memory of me." The little girl said cheerfully. Seto gazed at the bid stone tablet which was in front of them. He knew what that is, it was the stone which sealed the monster.
"But, this can't be!" Seto was astonished by the monster in the stone tablet. He looked at the little girl and asked: "You are her?" She nodded. "And she was her, and she was my sister? You are her too?" Seto asked hastily, he couldn't believe this, and then he thought the little girl probably had no idea what he was going on about.
"Yes, you are right, brother. That's why she… I mean I went look for you." Unexpectedly the girl answered.
"But, she…I mean you can't be a monster! I mean you are here and she is somewhere around." Seto now didn't know how to talk, it was so weird!
"Well, she wasn't, I mean I wasn't."
It's getting cold again and the light got dimmer and dimmer. Seto looked at the little girl, parts of her were disappearing, and she was fading into the darkness.
"What's going on?" Seto asked.
"It's sealing again. Brother, you have to help us…that card is too powerful…nobody can control it…You are the only one who can control it…you must find Yami and Sh…" The little girl was gone. "Come back!" Seto cried, but it was no use.
"Seto, wake up! Wake up!" Mokuba shook his brother strongly. It was late; Mokuba was just checking on his brother and tried to get his workaholic brother to eat something. But when he walked into the control room, he found Seto faint away on the floor.
"Seto, you finally awake!"
Seto opened his and felt ailing; the little girl was still vivid in his mind.
"Brother, are you ok?" Mokuba felt something wasn't right with his brother.
"Brother…" Seto murmured. He struggled to stand up, his head still hurt. Seto found he was still holding the `Silver winged dragon'. "This card…that card…" Seto stared at the card. "What is it? Seto?" Mokuba asked again, he was worried.
"Mokuba…tell them to get the jets ready, we are going to Egypt, right now!" Seto ordered. "But why? Seto?" Mokuba thought it was the second time he asked the same question in one day. "I've got a card to find." Seto said with a cold grin. "A powerful one."
~In Sharlene's Bedroom~
"Auntie, just go have some sleep, I will look after her." Nicolas tried to persuade Martha to have some rest. It was two o'clock in the morning, and both Nick and Martha had been waiting for Sharlene to wake up ever since yesterday afternoon.
The doctor had told them that Sharlene just caught a cold and there wasn't anything else, but she must wake up in 24 hours, if she didn't, they will have to take her to the hospital, and she might be in danger. Everyone was worried, almost everyone in the house watched Sharlene grow up. They all loved her; they didn't want anything bad happen to her.
Martha sighed. "Nick, how do you expect me to go to sleep while Sharlene is sick?" Martha thought it was her fault that Sharlene was ill, she thought she didn't take good care of her. "Come on, Auntie. Sharlene is a tough girl, she will be fine. If you don't go to sleep soon, you may as well get sick. Go have some rest, Auntie! I will look at after her." Nick looked at Sharlene, she looked so pale.
"But, Nick…You are…" Martha stopped right there, she was about to say something that she wasn't supposed to tell. "Fine then, Nick. Take good care of her then." Martha smiled at him. "Don't you worry!" Nicolas smiled back. Martha walked out and closed the door.
Nicolas sat on the chair next to Sharlene's bed. He took her hand and said: "Sharlene, please, wake up, you've got be strong. You have to wake up. I bet you never know that I loved and I still love you…I will do anything for you…Sharlene, anything." A tear of his fell on Sharlene's face. Her eye lids moved a bit. "Yami." She whispered.
"Sharlene, what did you just say? Come on, wake up!" Nicolas said softly in her ears, but, she didn't respond…
"Sharlene, Wake up!" Sharlene heard a faint voice.
"I'm so tried; I want to go to sleep." Sharlene muttered.
"Wake up!" Someone shouted in her ears, that made Sharlene sat up on the bed. She opened her eyes, and found that everything around her was white.
"Ah… Where is my furniture? Where am I?" Sharlene was worried, it looked like she and her bed was floating on the cloud.
"Is that all you care about?" Sharlene turned around and saw a little boy who was all in white.
He was standing in front of her bed grinning. Sharlene gazed at him closely and then she laughed. "You…Hahahaha… you look so little! I must be dreaming! And what are you doing in my dream anyway?" Sharlene laughed so hard that tears started to fall.
"What's so funny?" The little boy was angry. "Is this how you treat you elder brother?"
"What? Did you just say you are my elder brother?" Sharlene snorted even harder.
The little boy said nothing but glared at Sharlene and waited for her to finish.
"This so funny…" Sharlene didn't look like she was going to stop laughing any minute soon. "That's enough!" The little boy shouted at her, he looked really solemn. Sharlene looked at him and stopped laughing.
"Sharlene, this is not a dream! I'm a warning! You hear me? A warning!" The little boy insisted. "But, a minute a go, you said you are my…"
"Quiet!" Said the little boy, quiet hastily.
"Ok, now, you do sound like that big guy." Sharlene muttered.
"Sharlene, you got to wake up now! You better be careful from now on! Both you and Yami are in great danger!" The little boy enlightened.
"Yami and me?" Sharlene knew that he wasn't joking now.
"But, what will happen?" She asked.
"I can't help you there; I am just a piece of your memory, a warning. Sharlene, you got to wake up now! That card is absorbing you energy…You got to wake up NOW!!!" The little boy shouted in her ears again.
"Ok." Sharlene was irritated.
She opened her eyes. She was on her bed, at her bedroom, everything was normal. Nick slept on the chair next to her bed. Sharlene smiled, and then she turned off the lamp which sat on the counter. It was eight o'clock in the morning. Sharlene got up from the bed and opened the curtains; it was a beautiful sunny day. Sharlene liked showed in the sun rays.
"You scared us yesterday!" Nicolas smiled.
Sharlene quickly jumped back to her bed and asked: "What happened yesterday? Nick?"
"You had a fever and then you fainted away…and then doctor said if you won't wake up this afternoon, we will have to take you to the hospital!" Nicolas explained.
"Ow! The Hospital!" Sharlene didn't like that place much. "I'm all fine now."
"Yeah, I can see that! You are jumping around like a monkey." Nick teased.
"Hey, that's not nice. Anyway, I want to tell you about my dream."
"Oh, really. Tell me about your strange dreams." Nick beamed at her and out one hand on her forehead to check her temperature.
"Well, I was dreaming that I was sleeping and…I forgot." Sharlene felt weird, a minute ago, she was sure that dream was vivid in her mind, and now, she couldn't remember a thing. "You forgot? I think you do have a short term memory loss." Nick mocked again. And then his head was kissed by the big pillow that Sharlene had thrown.
"Nick, you've changed!" Said Sharlene, the Nicolas she knew was well…didn't tease her that much. "Is it good or bad?" Nick asked. Sharlene stroke her chin.
"Hey, Princess, you haven't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon. I'll go and get you something to eat." Nick said kindly.
"Great, breakfast in bed. You are the best Nick. Now go already!" Sharlene threw another pillow at him, but this time, nick caught it and threw it back at her and quickly he ran out…
~At the Backstage of Super Star Natasha's dressing room~
Super Star Natasha was sitting in front of her big make up mirror in her own dressing room. It was thirsty minutes before her concert started. She sat in the room quietly, she was expecting someone. Ever since Sharlene had quitted her singing career, everything had been perfect for Natasha. Sharlene was her biggest competition, now, she was gone, and Natasha had become the most popular singer in the whole wide world. But, still, she hated Sharlene. She hated her guts! Natasha was born with her memories; she knew her previous life well. She knew everything, she knew that she was the one who supposed to be the Queen of Egypt, and she knew that she was the one who supposed to be cherished by the finest three men of Egypt, and she also knew that it was Sharlene who ruined her dreams, who had made her wondering alone in the Shadows for millennium…It was Sharlene! It was all her fault! And yet, she was still ruining her life!
`I will make you pay! Sharlene. You are not going to get away this time, I've already had one man's heart, and I will have the others soon. They all will love me! And you will be wondering in the Shadows for entity!' Natasha grinned at her own reflection.
"You were late." Natasha heard someone coming.
"The traffic was a pain." An image of a short fat man appeared in the mirror.
"Have you done what The Master asked?" Natasha asked coldly.
"Yes, I have." The fat man put a note on the table. "Now, where is the prize that Master promised me?"
"On the table. That big red box." Natasha put on some lip sticks.
"Wow, that's a big one. Better be good!" The fat opened the box. With a loud crack, he vanished.
"Henn, Master wishes you a good vacation in the Shadow Realm!" Natasha sniggered. And then she picked up her cell phone. "Hey, Natasha here. Master, did you miss me? Well, yeah, he's gone now…Should I come over now?" She glanced at the calendar…
~ Mean While In Sharlene's Bedroom ~
"Sure, welcome. See ya soon." Nicolas hung on the phone.
"So when is she coming?" Sharlene stopped eating her toast and asked.
"You friend Tèa said `We will be coming at nine.' Sounds like you've got lots of friends, although you've just been here for about a week?" Nick walked to Sharlene and sat on her bed. Sharlene smiled, and so did Nicolas. His smile reminded Sharlene about Yami somehow. Sharlene sighed, every time, when she thought about Yami, she felt somehow…depressed. She couldn't stop thinking about him; she couldn't stop thinking that Yami loves Tèa. "What's wrong, Sharlene?" Nick patted her hand gently.
"Huh? Nothing." Sharlene grinned at him.
"Nick, you haven't answered my question yet!"
"What question?" Nick didn't remember Sharlene had asked him anything this morning. "Well, why did you come here?"
"I'm on a vacation! And I missed Auntie Martha and you!" Nick smiled. And then his hand lifted Sharlene's chin and made her stared right into his eyes.
"Did you miss me? Princess?" He said in a rather seducing tone.
"Nick, you really changed." Sharlene blushed, and tried not to look at his gorgeous face. She was tense; she wanted to run away from his sight, she felt that she was burning. Nick leaned a bit closer. Sharlene closed her eyes and thought she was going to faint again. She didn't know what to do now, a blurry image appeared in her head, but she didn't know who. She felt Nick's hot breath on her face, she couldn't resist him, she liked him, but she knew that she might love someone else…
"So you are awake!" Martha walked in just in time. Sharlene opened her eyes and still blushing. Nick blushed too, but quickly he took the tray on Sharlene's bed.
"Err…I will take those down stairs. Err…Auntie, when Sharlene woke up, you were at sleep, and so I didn't wake you." Nick explained hastily and acted like a little boy who just lied to his mother. And then he rushed out and closed the door. Sharlene laughed at him.
"How are you feelings? Honey?" Martha asked nicely.
"I'm all fine now, Martha." Sharlene said cheerfully.
Martha sat on her bed and beam at her. "Yes, I can see you are in a much better shape now."
"Err…Sharlene, you and Nicolas…You are not quite who you think you are." Martha wanted to tell the secret. But she wasn't sure if it's the right thing to do. `Nicolas and Sharlene are good kids, but, they were involved and yet they are still involved. Why can't they just have a happy ending? This is not fair.' Martha thought about that and sighed.
"What is it? Martha?" Sharlene knew that she was hiding something from her. Someone knocked on the door.
"Come in."
"Martha, an urgent phone call from Lord Sinclair." Sarah reported.
"Thank you Sarah, I'll be right down." Martha asked Sharlene to have some rest.
"Martha, just tell me what you want to say." Sharlene said unwearyingly.
"Be warned, Sharlene." Said Martha and then she added: "I mean be ware, Sharlene, it's…err easy to catch colds in this season." Martha faked a smile and closed the door.
Sharlene lay down on her bed and thought. `Be warned, what does she mean by that? Martha is hiding something from me! Be warned!' Sharlene got the feeling that this was the second warning she received today.
