Chapter 4

Kayla rose, what felt like hours later, to find her headache had vanished. A cold shutter ran down her spine, and she begun to scan the room, despite this did nothing for her. Something felt off, but she couldn't place what or why. She swung her legs over the bed standing weekly. She felt the rays of sun on her face, and limped her way to the sorce. She came to an abrupt stop, her palms resting on a solid window sill. “You should not be standing.” Came a voice from right behind her.
“I'm alright, Yami.” She replied coolly. She didn't know why she had spoken that way, but admittedly something had her on edge, if only she could place a finger on it.
“less you forget, I'm Pharoah, and I'm not asking you to lie down, but rather ordering it.” Yami responded a certain edge to his voice as well.
Kayla turned on her heal, and lie back down. “Fine, happy now?” she replied resentfully.
“Do not dare use such tones with me….” Yami replied, unable to control his emotions. He paused placed a hand to his head, and rubbed his temples. Today wasn't turning out well at all. He then stood before he continued speaking, “Your orders to rest. I have some things to do.” With those final words he exited the room leaving a stunned Kayla behind.
Meanwhile, in another part of a the castle, the young fire senshi felt the same things as the woman she called her sister. She ran to the nearest window, and noticed by doing so she could see for a very gernous distance. She gazed about her searching for the possible source of what may have caused this uneasy feeling. A bright light eloomnated the sky blinding in its intencenity. A black whole formed in the otherwise bright atmosphere.
She took several steps back placing her hands into her pockets. Her hand clasped around a solid object and she pulled it free. She scanned its contents a moment before making a selection. She would only hope this would work.
Kayla jumped startled out of the soft slumber she had fallen into by a soft vibration against her hip. She searched frantically for the object, pulling it from the confines of her clothing. Flipping it open she spoke, “Hello.” Her voice remained low so as not to give her status away should someone be watching to be sure that she “rested” like she had been ordered by the Pharoah…
“Something's up I can feel it. I also saw something.” The voice on the other end said before she went on to explain what she'd seen. At that same moment, Yami had felt like some force had punched him in the stomach. He gazed about him, acting like he'd never laid eyes on any of this.
“Did you tell the others?” Kayla asked. Her voice hitching with worry, fear, and concern. She voiced her thoughts aloud to her sister. “There is more to this then we previously predicted, this may be our toughest battle yet.”
“I know sis… I know. Just remain calm, I'll think of something.” With those words, the connection ended, and Kayla gazed blankly at her phone resting in her palm. She allowed it to shut with a soft click before replacing it within the folds of her clothing. She lie on her back staring off into space as she pondered what needed to be done.
“Are you well my king?” a worried priest, Seto, asked with concern.
“Yes I'm-“ he took a long hard look at Seto before allowing himself to speak the other's name. He gazed about him, and saw many people all around him. ::There is Yuugi's grandpa, Isis, Odeon, Seto…:: he thought to himself. ::then I've made it back into the past…:: he finished his thoughts
“Come on, we must go inside.” The man looking a lot like Yuugi's grandfather stated. Yami nodded and walked inside to sit upon his throne. Before he could even think, the same voice rang out. “Let the celebration begin!” At the sound of those words various woman begun to dance.
A mop of brown hair caught the Pharaoh's attention and he sat transfixed at the figure. He could see everything about her, and noticed she appeared to be dressed rather oddly. He stood not letting his eyes leave the woman.
“May I ask thy name?” he called to the figure.
The figure in question stopped dancing as she approached the pharaoh. “Aino, Minako…” she responded before her eyes rolled back into her head and she fainted. Another woman dropped the tray she had been sent out with and ran kneeling in front of her friend as people scattered about. “Minako-chan!” the other woman called out. Her hair seemed to be slipping from the ponytail she had put it in, and she had on similar modern-day attire as her friend.
Yami ran over and inspected the situation.” Get her a bed, cool water, and Seto, concoct some healing potions!” he ordered.
Shirtless men surrounded the fallen pop star and lifted her from the san. They had taken her into a room lined with many beds reserved for the sick and dying. Makoto, the woman who had dropped the food had yet to move. Fear had over come her at this point as a lump formed in her stomach. She knew nothing about medical care, but she prayed something could be done.
“She is in the best care possible at the moment.” Yami stated trying to calm the woman. “But, might I inquire why you are not in your own time?”
Makoto looked at Yami a look of shock covering her features. “Um…that's a good question.” Came her reply. “search out a Ami Mizno, and maybe she'll have the answer you seek.” She replied. “She is also a doctor in training, and has been fallowing Minako's condition.” She lied. Makoto hated to lie but she felt like she had no choice Her friend would end up dying if she didn't do something, and she had to find her other friends.
Yami stood giving out the order to seek out the girl in request. He glanced once more at Makoto before darting to his chambers. Many servants, Seto included called out to him, but he acted as if he did not hear. Kayla who had finally fallen into the deepest reaches of slumber jumped upon hearing the echo from the doors being nearly torn off. She lie on her side, eyes closed acting as if she were sleeping. “Wake up…” a softer male voice commanded.
Kayla's eyes flew open as her mind attempted to take in all that had just occurred. Her cell phone fell from its resting place, and she searched frantically for it. “Yami-“ she began but the tri-colored man interrupted her words.
“is this my name…. this Yami you speak?” he asked. He had been inspecting Kayla's cell phone, expertly browsing through her contact list. She could hear the tip tap of the keypad praying that he wouldn't fry her sim card.
“I do not know my lord. You instructed me to call you by that name.” she replied as she had gone into a defensive mode once more, using short proper speak.
“So you do not know positively this Yami, is my given name?” he asked again.
Kayla simply shook her head, eyes downcast. “No, I am sorry my lord.” She replied again locking any hint of emotion out of view. She would not crack under pressure, nor would she allow him to see how she felt at the current moment.
“How are you getting a signal here? Yami asked tossing the phone back at Kayla. It landed in her lap, and she locked her hands around the device, acting like it were some sort of lifeline.
She could feel her jaw drop at the question, but forced it closed. She did well to hid her emotions as her brain searched for an answer, any answer to help her figure this out. “Well, that's because it's not running off any normal means, but rather powered by the moon.” She stated quickly. Partly this was a lie, but at the same time not. “You see Sailor Senshi need a way to keep in constant contact, something that would never give out, so the power comes from our home planet. They will no longer sustain life, however they are able to transmit power to our phones as long as they remain in existence. This is how they are able to span distance, time, and space.” She finally responded. She couldn't tell if this was only made up to keep him off her back, but yet. She stopped pondering her thoughts until his voice broke her free from them.
“You must return with your friend's to your own time. You are all in grave danger here.” Yami replied quickly. “A dark force is approaching, danger and destruction will soon fallow.”
“I know, this is why my friends are here. We are to offer aid in this time of overwhelming darkness. I am afraid we cannot return even if it is by our own choice.” Kayla sighed sadly. “We must see this through.”
“Please be warned, I may not be able to protect you then.” Yami warned. He turned on his heal before speaking again, “A party is being held, you may wish to change and attend.”
Kayla scrambled out of the bed as fast as her beat up body would allow. She hated being cooped up in one place for long, and this place had worn her down to her last nerve. Even though he had done this out of concern, none the less something kept eating at the back of her mind.
Jenna paused and turned sharply long raven hair whipping across her pale skin. Her eyes darted from left to right searching for something. A shutter tore through her body, sending her sprolling to the sandy ground face first. Her body twitched involuntarily trimmers continued running through her body like an unseen electrical current. Seto, who had been searching for the pharaoh, suddenly met the unforgiving sands under his feet as his legs refused to work for him. Guards raced to offer aid, but upon approaching their lord, they paused in shock. He appeared frozen in place, his eyes vacant, his body not responding to any form of sound nor sight.
Jenna finally came out of her shocked state on her own, but had no memory upon her awakening. She glanced about her trying to remember anything, but nothing came. A vision formed in her head, but unlike her previous visions, this vision had no detail, just blackness, hanging over the earth present day and now like a thick fog. Had the world gone blind? Had she somehow lost all visual ability? No, she could still see, though the sunlight appeared rather dim for this time of the day. She glanced once more out at the structure floating in the sky. “I must find the others.” She whispered as she ran out of the room and down the hall. She could at least guess where one of her friends remained, as for the others she hadn't a clue. She had felt it the moment Minako, Sailor venous, leader of the sailor senshi, had fallen but- had she? Jenna did not want to know, or did she want to remain here any longer. “Kayla!” she called approaching the Pharaoh's chamber, but before she could reach her destination, she found the ground once more as her foot tripped over a figure lying in the sands. “Oh my god Seto!” she yelled fear griping her form like a vice. “I will not allow this…” she whispered and at this vow, her planet symbol appeared burning through her, and outward. The fiery light begun to bath the room in an eerie red glow before it vanished. Yet when it had, Seto recovered only to have Jenna faint in his arms before she could hit her head yet again.
“Such power, unlike anything I had ever seen.” Seto declared gathering his composure as well as the now limp Jenna. “Get this woman a bed and as much food and water as her heart desires!” he ordered. “Do not tell the Pharaoh of this, he has enough problems to deal with at this current moment.” He barked the order Guards that had been hovering over him now scattering about to perform the orders given. “Rest well young female…” he whispered to Jenna before the limp form had been properly transferred into his guard's capable hands.
Kayla had gotten half way back to the main hall when she got a worried sick feeling. “Something is wrong. Jenna-chan's in trouble…. Something has happened to her.” She whispered her body suddenly going into a trans-like state. She had cleared her mind of all thought, penetrating the barrier that blocked her mind from that of her best friend and sister. The link between them had groan unusually week, and she visibly pailed. “She's used to much power, aiding this one called Seto….” She whispered as her mind returned back to her body. She closed her eyes, eyes downcast, as she crumpled to the ground like a leaf. She didn't even notice it when Yami had picked her up and continued to walk, that was until a sphere cut him off mid-step. “Show yourself!”
Before any more could be said or done, Kayla stepped in the way, just as a second spear flew over her head. She jumped catching the object in her good hand, before sending it back from where it had come. She ran fallowing the sharp projectile, transforming as she did. Transparent wings assisted in taking the weight off her already over used legs, making this task less difficult.
“How cute, now you are getting your little sluts to fight to protect you. Have you no shame?” a voice echoed sending chills down the sailor's spinal column. However, the comment made her see red.
“How dare you call me such a name…” she hissed spitting out her words, Oh in case you don't know, the more you talk, you only make yourself a sitting duck, but wait, you already think me less of a woman… well I'll show you wrong.”
“Kayla!” the pharaoh yelled.
“I suggest that you teach this one to hold her tongue in the presence of a guest, expically one baring such fine gifts.” The strange voice continued as an object begun to form seemly in thin air from the shadows. The pharaoh could only watch as the form began to solidify, and be aimed directly for Kayla's torso.
“Look out!” Yami yelled, his voice becoming lost as the room turned white from a light emerging from the center of Kayla's upper body.
