DDP: -.- i asked the readers, Midnight

Midnight: Ohhhhhh...

DDP: -.-"...anywho, welcome to my very first story!

Midnight: Hopefully not her last

DDP: Thank-you Midnight!

Midnight: Hey! what are yami's for?

DDP: Mostly muses for my stories.

Midnight: -.- not the answer i was expecting but hey.

DDP: speaking of muses...

*Yami, Yugi, Bakura and Marik appear out of no where*

Bakura: why the hell am I here?

DDP: Because I said so. I have jobs for you guys to do for this fic.

Yugi: really?

DDP: yep ^.^ Yugi, If I get any reviews, I want you to thank the reviewers.

Yugi: O.k! ^.^

DDP: Yami and Midnight are going to be my critics...be nice though guys

Y+M: No prob!

Yami: Also, this is Dark Dragon Princess' VERY first fic. Nice comments and reviews would be appreciated. Flames will be used to burn Tea and Tristan.

DDP: Thanks Yami! *hugs Yami*

Yami: *blushes*

DDP: Marik, you get to the warnings. You can start by doing them now. just read them off of this. *hands Marik a piece of paper*

Marik: Alright.*reads off of paper* WARNING. this fic contains bad language, character deathS, meaning more than one, Tea-bashing
, Tristan-bashing, very slight joey/mai,yugi/serenity, descriptive deaths, Yami angst (verbal more than physical) and whatever the reviewers want. Rated R just in case. Also, Dark Dragon Princess will be using AMERICAN names, just so no one is confused.

DDP: nicely done!

Marik: thanx!

Bakura: What about me?!

DDP: you have the most important job of all!

Bakura: really?

DDP: yep! you get to do the disclaimer!

Bakura: -.-...fine. Dark Dragon Princess does NOT own The Green Mile OR Yu-Gi-Oh. If she owned YGO, Tristan and Tea would be brutally murdered every episode, but she DOES NOT own it, so DON'T SUE!

DDP: Thank-you! on with the fic now!

*Yami, Yugi, Bakura, Marik and Midnnight leave for a few minutes, then return with big bowls of popcorn*

'...'= thoughts "..."=speech (AN...)=my notes

Chapter 1- The Good Old Days

It's a dark, cold night near the end of May. Three figures can be seen. A man and two little girls. The figures are hidden by the shadows, but the man looks no older than twenty-five. One of the two girls is short and looks like she is five years old. The other girl is a little taller and looks around ten years old. Than a voice is heard. A male voice. A cold voice.

"You love your sister you little whore? Than you keep your mouth shut, you hear me? If you don't keep quiet, i'm gonna kill her, understand?" The voice says, addressing the taller girl. She nods then he speaks again.

"You, you don't keep quiet, I'm gonna kill that bitch instead of you, understand?" The little girl nods.

~*~*~*~TIME LAPSE*~*~*~

A crowd, looking like every man in town is running across a field, armed with shotguns. A male voice cries out desperately,

"KATIE! LAURA! WHERE ARE YOU?!"......

At that moment,at the old retirement home, two brilliant violet eyes open up. The owner of the eyes, a man in his late nineties sits up in his bed and looks at the clock.

'damn. 6:00 am. why can't these damn nightmares just leave me the hell alone?!' he thinks to himself.

He gets out of bed and walks off to the bathroom. He starts to brush his hair, which is three different shades of grey. His bangs being the lightest shade. The man's name is Yugi Moto.

When he is finished with his hair, he goes and gets dressed. He throws on a plain pair of dark green trousers, and a white sweater. He walks off to the cafeteria, when he notices one of his friends.

*Yugi's POV*

I walk to the cafeteria, when I notice a woman with long, grey hair down to her elbows. She has tan skin, and startling blue eyes. I reconise her as one of my close friends.

"Ishizu!" I call out.

She turns around and waves to me, then continues on her way. I reach the cafeteria and order a few plain pieces of toast.

"Going on another one of your walks, Yugi?" The man serving me asks.

"Yes I am. Hopefully I won't get caught in a rain storm" I reply. I take a moment to think about my comment on the rain storm. It has been raining alot lately.

"Where do you go when you go for a walk? Normally you old folks aren't allowed that far out." he says.

"I like to walk. And I visit a few old friends. I know we aren't allowed out that far, but as long as I don't get caught, I should be fine." I reply, choosing not to comment about that 'old folks' remark.

After I get my toast, I head out for my walk.

*Reader's POV*

Some time later, the residents of the retirement home are gathered around the T.V watching Jerry Springer. Yugi and Ishizu are sitting near the back.

"Why the hell do we watch this shit anyways?" complains a man near the front.

"Because it's interesting!" Shout a woman in the middle.

"Oh yes, this is the best show in the freakin' world!" replies the man near the front.

"I'm gonna turn it to something interesting" says another man near the front.

The man flips through the channels a few times before landing on a Duel Monsters tournament.

"I didn't know people still played this game! Oh this takes me back!" said a woman at the back of the room.

The residents of the room take interest in the tournament, while in the back, Yugi gets a misty expression on his face. Ishizu notices as tears start to roll down Yugi's cheek.

"Yugi? what's wrong?" She asks.

"I gotta get out of here." Yugi says back before stading up, and walking out of the room. Ishizu follows. Hardly anyone in the room notices that Yugi and Ishizu are missing from their group, as they are too into their tournament.

Ishizu spots Yugi in the Dining Room, staring out of the window.
'It's raining pretty hard' she thinks to herself as she takes a seat opposite of Yugi.

"Yugi? what's the matter? You can tell me." she says.

"Alright. Did I ever tell you, Ishizu, that I was prison guard at the old penitentary?" Yugi says, with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"You've mentioned it." Replies Ishizu.

"Well, did you also know, that I was a supervisor at the executions on Death Row?"
Ishizu shakes her head.

"Well, that was sixty years ago. At most penitentaries, they call Death Row the Last Mile. We called ours the Green Mile. The floors were the colour of faded limes. We had our electric chair. Sparky, we called it. Sixty years ago, I had the worst bladder infection, you could imagine. It was also the time of Yami Mutou, and those two little girls. I could never get over how similar me and Yami were. Even our names. I'll never forget the first day they brought him in...
