Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ The Heart of the Cards ❯ Eternal ( Chapter 17 )
Meira: Eternal.
Yami: What?
Meira: Title of Chapter 17.
Yami: Oh. Why'd you choose this name for it?
Meira: You'll find out.
Yami: Will you tell me ANYTHING?
Meira: Yup.
Yami: What? Tell me!
Meira: That you're a Pharaoh.
Yami: I KNOW THAT!!!
GLTB: I really don't wanna know. *Kisses Kaiba*
Meira: SOMEONE SAY THE DISCLAIMER! *cricket chirp*
Yami: She doesn't own Yu-Gi-Oh.
Meira: Good. Oh, and by the way, this story should get interesting in this chapter. Hehe…
Yami: Er… you typed in GLTB, not GLIB.
Meira: About that… I made a mistake. It's GLTB, not GLIB. Sorry! (No, I don't feel like updating up all my chapters.)

Three months later, Selena sat down next to Yugi in Math. She and Yami had been working on dueling strategies every day for the past three months.
Yugi turned around to face Selena. "So how're things between you and Yami?" he teased. Selena pretended to hit him with her math textbook. Yugi ducked.
"Yugi," Selena sighed. "You know that Yami and I are just friends."
"But you like him," Yugi teased again. Selena glared at him. "Sorry," he added. "You love him!" This time Selena really did hit him with her textbook. "Oww…" he muttered.
"Yeah Yug'" Joey laughed. "You've been teasing her so much it's a miracle that she hasn't killed you yet!" Tristan and Téa laughed. Selena smiled at her new friends. The five of them had become really close friends over the past three months. Even Yami was her good friend now. Considering how long it took to get over the fact that he wouldn't stop teasing her…
"So," Téa asked. "You and Yugi dueled yet?
"Nope," Yugi replied. "Yami says she's so bad that it'll take him another five millennia for her to be ready to duel ANYONE!" Once again, Selena hit Yugi with her textbook. Everybody laughed.
"Class, settle down!" the teacher called. They all hurried back to their seats, and settled down for a boring math class.

[Meira: This part's really ooc… I just felt like dissing the preps… Hehe… I get to take out my anger on them here!]
"Selena!"
"Selena turned around, and saw Yami running toward her.
"Hey, Yami," she smiled, waiting for him to catch up with her.
"Hey," he panted, coming to a stop next to her.
"What's up?" she asked.
"I was wondering if we could meet at your house this afternoon instead of meeting at Yugi's place."
"Why?" she asked.
Yami smiled mischievously. "I want to see what your room looks like. Selena nodded.

At lunch that day, Selena sat down with her friends. She glanced over at the Fairies, who were whispering excitedly, glancing at Kaiba and Selena. Selena glared at them. Joey saw her.
"Mad at the Fairies again?" Joey asked.
"Yeah," Selena muttered. "And to think, I almost became one of them, if Seto hadn't stopped me…"
"Mm-hm," Tristan agreed. "Who knew he had it in him?"
"Selena, be nice," Téa scolded. "We should all be friends…" They all sighed as Téa started one of her friendship speeches. Joey, Tristan, and Selena tuned her out. Yugi was left listening to her.
Vespera got up and walked over to the table where Selena was sitting. "Selena," she said, ignoring Yugi, Joey, Tristan, and Téa. "Do you think we can talk to you for a minute?" With that, Téa stopped her friendship speech.
"Um… sure," Selena replied politely, standing up. Kaiba looked over at her. Selena stood up, and followed Vespera out of the lunchroom.
As soon as they were out of the lunchroom, Vespera turned to Selena.
"Selena," she said. "Do you think the four of us could come over after school today?"
Selena looked at her like she was crazy. "Why?"
"Because Kaiba is sooo hot," Vespera gushed. "We just want to see him. And you can help us."
Selena thought that Vespera was crazy. Did Vespera really think that she was a pushover like Yugi?
"I'm sorry," Selena replied sweetly, with an air of great regret. "But I have plans today." Seeing Vespera's look of disappointment, she added, "Sorry."
"Then what about tomorrow?" Vespera asked eagerly.
"Sorry," Selena replied. "But I don't allow sluts in my house." Vespera started fuming and opened her mouth to retort, but Selena just said, "Later," and walked out of the lunchroom.

Later that day, Selena was unlocking the gates to the Kaiba mansion. Yami was standing next to her, waiting impatiently.
"C'mon," he said. "I wanna show you this 4 - card combo…"
"I'm going as fast as I can!" Selena snapped. Sometimes it was hard to believe how annoying Yami could be… She soon unlocked the gate and Yami rushed inside. "What?" she laughed. "Never been on Kaiba property before?"
Yami stopped and turned around. "Of course," he said, stepping aside. "Ladies first." Selena smiled.
They were soon inside her room. Selena sat down on the bed. "Now show me that combo." But Yami was staring at the walls. Selena blushed. She remembered when she had painted those walls…
~~Flashback~~
Kaiba came into Selena's room. Selena was painting the wall. She was finishing the Winged Dragon of Ra.
"What're you doing?" he asked, sitting down on Selena's bed.
"Painting this wall," Selena said absentmindedly.
"What's with the Egyptian Gods?"
"I'd like to have the three Egyptian Gods on my wall."
Kaiba looked at the other side of the room. There were the Dark Magician and the Dark Magician Girl, with their scepters crossing one another. "Why is the Dark Magician here?" he asked. "That's Yugi's favorite monster."
"I know," Selena replied absentmindedly. "But the Dark Magician goes well with the Dark Magician Girl."
"Mokuba came into her room and stared at the three Egyptian Gods. "Where'd you see those?" he asked, walking over to sit next to Kaiba.
"Yugi showed them to me," she replied, starting on something else in the middle of the Egyptian Gods.
"Then I suppose you know that Yugi won Obelisk from me in the Battle City Tournament," Kaiba said.
"Mm-hm," Selena replied, finishing the Eye of Ra. Kaiba stared at it, realizing that it was the same symbol as on Yugi's Millenium Puzzle."
"Why'd you paint that?" he asked angrily.
"You mean the Eye of RA?" Selena asked, walking over to the other side of the room. "It's associated with the Egyptian Gods, somehow." [Meira: Yeesh, My Social Studies teacher mentioned the gods… I wonder if he angered them, because he made us cluck like a chicken and draw a pig on the first day.]
Kaiba looked at how Selena had painted the background of the entire room. Ad dark design. He recognized it as the Shadow Realm. "Why'd you pain the background like this?" Kaiba asked impatiently.
"It's a pretty design. Besides, it's associated with darkness," she replied, starting on a Blue Eyes White Dragon.
"But the Blue Eyes is a light monster!" Mokuba protested.
"I know," Selena replied. "It's to symbolize hope when all you see is despair." Kaiba nodded.
"Well," he said, standing up. "Good luck." With that, he walked out.
"Mokuba," Selena asked, turning around.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"You think Seto'll mind that I ordered a set of furniture to match this room?" [Meira: That was unbelievably ooc…]
Mokuba shook his head. "I don't think so," he replied. "Can I watch you paint?"
Selena nodded, then went back to the Blue Eyes."
~~End Flashback~~
Yami glanced at Selena. "You did a nice job painting this place. And coordinating it." He glanced at the part of the `Shadow Realm' that she hadn't painted any duel monsters on. "But you didn't paint this wall."
Selena blushed. "I wanted to save that for something special. But I couldn't think of anything to put there."
Yami nodded.

The two of them worked on Dueling Strategies for a while, then Yami stopped.
"Selena," he whispered, pressing something into her hand. Selena looked at it. It was a golden necklace with at weird charm on it.
"What's this?" she asked, poking at the charm.
"It's an Ahnk," Yami replied.
"What does it mean?"
"It means eternity."
"Exactly how long before you can get a girlfriend," Selena retorted. The two of them laughed.
"What?" Selena asked. "Oh yeah, thanks for the necklace."
"It's nothing," he whispered.
"Why are you whispering?"
"Because I wanted to give you something else.
"What?"
"Close your eyes," Yami commanded, whispering again. Selena obediently closed her eyes.
Yami leaned closer to her, his face drawing near hers…
~~Meanwhile~~
Kaiba walked in the door. He looked at Mokuba, whose eyes were glued to the television screen. He looked around. Selena was usually at Yugi's right about now, but sometimes she was at home.]
"Where's Selena?" he asked, throwing his briefcase on the couch.
"In her room with Yugi," Mokuba asked, not taking his eyes off the tv.
"So she's - WHAT???" he asked, registering what Mokuba had said.
"Yeah. She said that they couldn't meet at Yugi's house toay."
Kaiba stormed up the stairs. He had to find out what they were doing.
As he approached the door, he heard Yugi whisper something.
He thrust open the door, and saw Yugi's face barely an inch from Selena's.
"YUGI!!!" Kaiba yelled. Selena opened her eyes and `Yugi' turned around. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?"
Yugi just gave him a cold look.

Meira: So, what'd you guys think?
Yami: *starts punching Kaiba*
K-I-M: WHY ARE YOU PUNCHING HIM! HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! *takes a bokken and hits Yami over the head*
Yami: HE STOPPED ME FROM KISSING SELENA!
Meira: So?
K-I-M: THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAD TO HURT HIM! *embraces Kaiba*
Yami: Wait… Meira wrote that…
Meira: *threatening* If you attempt to hurt me I'll cut you out of the commentary!
Yami: Hmph. *thinks to himself* I bet K-I-M is pissed at me right now… after what I did…
Meira: Please Read and Review!
Yami: … Have you made any improvements in your story?
Meira: We're getting better at keeping reviews shorter.
Yami: -.-
