The Marauder's Touch
Chapter 2- At Break
Yugi sighed and set his head on the desk in boredom, preparing to go to sleep in his free period. He didn't feel like doing anything of any sort but just sit and rest for a bit, something he hadn't had much practice at. Among the sounds of his classroom, Yugi stayed in his serene little space, not wanting to be bothered from it. Across and over from him, the new student was doing the same. She stayed away from everyone as they went on their business and just stayed in her corner reading a magazine quietly.
It was later on the morning at break and everyone was relaxing before classes started up again. Some choose to study, with noses buried in a book. Some talked to their friends nearby, conversing about a test later in the day or what was happening on the weekend. In all of the conversations going around, none seemed to speak of the new girl. The hype surrounding Shanzunia Kizay had quickly faded at morning break and the rest of the day went on undaunted. The students in Yugi's class were a little more than a bit disappointed. They were hoping for something new and exciting to rush out the staleness of Domino High. Shanzunia may have been new, but she was far from exciting. She had not said a word to anyone since she entered the room. She stayed silent throughout class, even when others tried to talk to her. Shanzunia would reply with drawing on her notebook and leaning back in her chair, not even bother to look at them. They in turn gravitated away from her and soon forgot about her. Shanzunia probably wanted it that way.
Despite her waning interest, Yugi could not help but wonder quietly about her. After all, she had come from a land Yugi had heard of time and time again but has never been fully told of Egypt. He had so many questions about it but did not want to approach her. Maybe later…he thought, and went back to sleeping. However, a loud cheer coming from back of him interrupted him. Yugi got up and looked behind him and saw a group encircle two others who were playing a game made famous by their own classmates: Duel Monsters.
"I play my Axe Raider in attack mode!!"
"Damn! Good move!"
"He wiped out all his life points pretty quick!"
It wasn't a big enough battle for Yugi to stay and watch and he turned back around. I was just like them. He thought. I was just like them….
In fact, he was. Yugi remembered a time when he thought that Duel Monsters was only a game and nothing more to it. He was naïve to all of the mysteries the game held, and didn't realize how much a simple deck of cards could change his life. Both for better and for worse. After dueling in Battle City, Yugi made a decision that he never regretted: He would not return to Duel Monsters and abandon anything associated with it, including his Millennium Puzzle. Yugi didn't let go of it completely. He still managed to talk to Yami, but when he left his house, Yugi had to rely on himself and not of the comfort the Puzzle gave. Yugi then yawned and closed his eyes. Even with his life normal, it was still boring as hell. Thankfully, Joey and Tea then came over to talk to him, but even Yugi felt as though they have gotten annoying.
"Hey, Yugi!" Tea brightly greeted.
"Hey, Tea," he responded dully.
"Something the matter, Yugi?"
Yugi sighed. "It's nothing really."
"You say it's nothing, but it's obviously something."
"Look," Joey said, "Maybe Yuge doesn't wanna talk about it, Tea." Joey then moved in close to Yugi so Tea wouldn't overhear him. "Are you still reelin over you-know-who getting you-know-what?"
Yugi shook his head.
Joey's whispering on the other hand didn't work. "Who are you guys talking about?" Tea asked.
"Uh…nobody you know," Joey said simply.
"That's all I've been hearing from you guys lately. I wanna know who it is!"
"Relax," Joey said. "That ain't important. What is important is Tristan."
"What about him?" she asked, uninformed. "You guys never-"
"He's sick, Tea," Yugi sighed, interrupting her.
"Sick? With what?"
"I dunno," Joey answered. "But I got a feeling it ain't just the flu."
"Really? What do you think it is?"
"Don't know that either. What I do know is that I think the three of us should visit him tonight. Just to make sure he's okay."
"I don't think it's anything bad, Joey," Yugi said. "Could be just the flu."
"You won't know that `til you see. Besides, we gotta deliver his homework."
"Anyway," said Tea. "What do you guys think about the new girl?"
They both shrugged their shoulders in unison.
"She's quiet," Yugi pointed out. "She hasn't said a word all morning."
"It's kinda like she don't want nothing to do with us.," said Joey. "That or it could be just PMS…"
"That's your answer for everything. You even said that about Kaiba a couple of times."
"That was different, Yuge. I said he had sand up his ass."
Tea shook her head in dismay. "You do this every time someone knew comes along."
"Well," Joey said. "Can you blame me? Whenever somebody new comes along, I'm either in an animal suit or trapped in someplace dark."
"Yeah, but you're doing the same thing you did to Duke!"
"The only difference between her and that kinky bastard is a doggy suit. If Yuge hadn't have come by to save me, well…So, you see, I'm fine and she is best left to herself alone."
"Okay, but have you guys even tried talking to her?"
They both shook their heads.
"That's probably why she's like that!"
"You planning on goin' over there?" Joey asked.
Before he could say anything more, Tea had already walked up to Shanzunia's desk. She was sitting quietly reading from an Arabic magazine.
"Hi," Tea said.
Shanzunia kept on reading, not acknowledging Tea's presence.
Tea then cleared her throat, trying to get her attention. Shanzunia calmly turned a page and finally spoke in a placid, foreign voice.
"Is there some reason you are standing here?"
"I just came over to say hi." Tea explained.
"Well, I was fine until you interrupted me. Go away."
"Go away?"
"Are you deaf? You heard me."
Tea exhaled sharply. "Y'know…"
"Oh no, not this again." Joey said to Yugi.
Here we go again…Yugi thought.
"Why do you have to be so mean," said Tea. "All I was doing was showing you a little kindness, and showing you some friendship. Don't you think it's about time to stop being alone and get to know everybody?"
Shanzunia then closed her magazine and looked directly at Tea, her eyes fierce.
"Listen here, bitch," she said. "Are you slow or something? I don't want to be bothered. So either get the fuck away from me or else I'll make you myself."
"At least I'm not a anti-social skank."
Shanzunia cut her eyes dangerously at Tea, daring her to do something. "Oh, I am? You really are a stupid bitch. I keep telling you to leave me alone and you're still here. Fuck you, fuck your fucking friendship, and fuck that shit on your head you call a hairstyle. I'll do what I want alone if I want to. Go fuck yourself for all I care."
Tea huffed and walked away, hurt and regretting ever saying anything to her. Shanzunia took it in stride and sat back down to finish her reading.
"So," said Joey. "She does have a voice. Wow…."
Yugi sighed and put his head back down. He then closed his eyes and felt himself drift…

"High Priestess Isis is here, just as you commanded, sire," a guard groveled at the foot of the throne.
"Send her in, then leave us to speak!" the pharaoh ordered.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Through the front doors, the priestess then entered. She wore a red robe and a gilded headdress that sparkled in the dim room while the Millennium Tauk shone proudly on her collar. The guard, who preceded her, left as she bowed gracefully before the pharaoh.
"Arise." He commanded.
"What have you called me for, my pharaoh?" Isis asked, now on her feet. "What do you need that requires so much secrecy?"
"I have a dilemma the likes of which the gods have never seen."
"What can be so horrid for this darkness?"
"My fair wife and I have been in wedded bliss for the past four years, and yet there is no children. The gods must be laughing at me. So long have I tried, prayer and sacrifices to both Bastet and Apis, and they have only left her barren! I fear, Isis that my dynasty may very well die out, and after 9 generations it will end. I do not want that to happen!"
"Why have you called me? I always thought you favored Set-"
"I can no longer fully trust the High Priest. Besides, you can help me much better than he ever could."
"Well, my take on it is that she is simply barren."
"I made her queen when she was all but 15 years of age! How can she not produce children?"
"It happens, Your Majesty, but I suggest another sacrifice."
"I have done so already."
"I know, sire, but this may need a human life for it to succeed."
"Human? Are you serious?"
"I don't want it to go this far either but it may be necessary."
"Fine, I shall take your word for it…"

Yugi then jolted awake as he felt a tap on his shoulder. Joey jumped back as Yugi shot up suddenly.
"Damn!" he cursed. "Shit, don't scare me like that, Yuge!"
Yugi sleepily rubbed his eyes. "Sorry, Joey…" he mumbled. Once his eyes focused fully, he saw that the room was empty. "Where is everybody?"
"Where we should be," Joey said. "Getting to class."
A/N: finally a 2nd chapter!!! I promise this will get better and the updates more frequent!
