Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ The Millennium Items ❯ Interrogation and the Revival of the Soliders from Kruelna ( Chapter 12 )

[ A - All Readers ]

Night comes, and our heroes sit around a campfire. Ryou is tending the fire with a stick. Anzu and Jou sit next to Ryou. Yami sits by himself with Seto (whom had returned when the witches left) sitting on his shoulder. Unsure about what they should do with the Millennium Eye, they ponder their problem.

Seto growls to himself. "I knew this whole thing would turn out sour! I'm leaving!"

Anzu hears him and quickly runs over and grabs on to his tiny wings with two of her fingers, "oh no you don't! Not yet anyway"

"AH! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? LEMME GO!!" He struggled hopelessly against Anzu's two fingers.

Yami sighed. "Anzu just let him go. It's not as if he can help us anymore anyway." He added, looking back at the fire.

"Except for getting us here, he didn't help us at all" Anzu goes back over to the campfire area where Ryou and Jou is, "since you can't help us out anymore... before you leave I want to know what is up with you and Atemu. You two said that you guys are cousins but yet you guys argue and such"

Seto struggled a bit more. "Like I said before, that's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!! Why don't you stick your nose somewhere else!?"

Anzu looks to the campfire, then to Seto and then holds Seto over to flame, "just cuz I'm a princess doesn't mean I can't threaten others"

Seto starts screaming bloody murder. "DON'T YOU DARE!! DON'T YOU DARE!!"

Anzu smirks, "I dare, now tell us what's up between you two or I'll drop you in the inferno"

"BECAUSE I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE KING!! THAT LITTLE BRAT STOLE IT FROM ME!!" He tried crawling up Anzu's hand in order to escape the flames. "THEY CHOSE HIM OVER ME!! I WOULD'VE BEEN A WAAAAAY BETTER KING THAN HE IS!!"

Anzu blinks and takes Seto away from the flame, "well, with your grumpiness I dunno... and why did they pick him over you?"

Seto sighs in relief. He then looks up at Anzu with a furrowed brow. "That's none of your business!" He sticks his tongue out.

Anzu sighs and holds him over the flame again, "not a good answer"

Seto starts screaming bloody murder again. "I-I DUNNO!! HE WAS TOO YOUNG!! I'M OLDER, WISER, BETTER! YET THEY CHOSE THE TEN YEAR OLD INSTEAD!! I DUNNO WHY!! I DUNNOOOOOO!!"

Anzu takes Seto away from the flame, "well, you should go find out...” she releases him from her grip, "oh and before you leave I have one thing to say. I wasn't gonna drop you in the fire if you didn't tell us... I'm not THAT cold-hearted."

Seto starts rubbing his rump which was still burning from the very heat of the fire. "That's hard to believe. I knew that nothing good would come out of this! Your actions prove it!" He says, pointing at Anzu. He then disappears into thin air into Ra knows where.

"Ugh, he's right. Without my sword, I'm nothing. We won't be able to do anything in order to protect ourselves from the Thief King!" Yami says, shoving his face into his hands in shame.

Anzu goes over to Yami, hearing him, "Yami, you're not nothing! You are somebody! You just need to believe in yourself." she puts a hand on his head, "I believe in you Yami...”

Yami looks up to her and smiles sourly. "Heh. Try saying that when the Thief King has our throats slit." He holds her hands. "I am still -- ...." He pulls his hands away in embarrassment, blushing.

Anzu smiles a bit and tilts her head slightly, "still what?"

Yami looks back up. "I-I'm still grateful. To all of you. You've been true friends. And now it's my turn to repay you all."

Anzu smiles warmly but then notices some movement at the corner of her eye, she looks to the sky where she saw movement in the night sky she can make out the figure of a gwythaint

Anzu's eyes widen and points it out, "Look!"

Jou looks up and sees the Gwythaints. "Uh oh, goodbye!" He quickly disappears into the forest.

"Quick! We can't let them find us!" Yami starts towards the forest holding Anzu's hand, Ryou right behind them when, suddenly, a bunch of Henchmen burst out of the brush holding spears. The Henchmen surround our hero's and capture them within a circle of spears.

From a few feet away, Jou watches his friends being taken away to the Thief King. He looks down in shame.

Yami, Anzu, and Ryou are taken back to the Thief King's castle (minus Jou, who has fled at first sight of the gwythaints.) They're in the King's courtroom that is filled with the lifeless skeleton warriors.

Marik is on a platform with the Stone Tablet of the Millennium Items, yelling out orders. "Get the move on! Careful now! You! Tie them up over there and get that cart out of here!"

Marik pauses and looks over to our heroes, whom hands were tied and hanging in from the rafters, he smirks, "Oh, I 'm sorry. I've ignored you. You did come to destroy the tablet, right? Good, then seal yourself in it! It'll only cost you your life!" Marik laughs madly, and then sees Thief King Bakura enter, Marik rushes over to him, bouncing slightly in excitement, "Oh!! Everything is ready, sire!"

Bakura walks closer to the three, taking in a raspy breath. "My, such a brave and handsome crew! An assistant farmer, a scullery maid, and ... My brother." He looked at his brother and sneered. Ryou gulps nervously.

"You'll never get away with this, Bakura!" He says, swallowing his fear. A string on his harp vibrates then snaps. Everyone looks at him. "Th-That's just the harp's opinion!"

"An opinion coming from something that never lies." Bakura says, smirking. "Perhaps it may interest you to see what fate has in store for you." He lets out a short and dry laugh as he then turns toward the stone tablet, all seven millennium items in place.

"Now I call upon the village of Kruelna! Rise, my people, and take vengeance on this world under my command!" The stone tablet begins to shake as the millennium items within it begin to glow. There was a blast of light, out of it coming what looked to be souls. The souls let out horrid and sickening groans and moans as they entered the various skeletons littered upon the ground.

The henchmen come in for a closer look when suddenly the skeletons spring to life, the spirits of Kruelna within them. They make their way to the entrance of the castle.

Just outside of the castle, Jou is entering through the water gate, watching all of the rats scurry away.

The three watches all this in complete horror, Anzu shuts her eyes tight to keep the sight of the dead away, but even in the darkness she can see them, "this... is HORRIBLE!"

"Go forth my deathless warriors of Kruelna! Destroy everything in your path!" Bakura let out an evil laugh that seemed to make the walls vibrate in fear.

Marik tugged on Bakura's robes slightly, "come sire! The view is better from above" he tells Bakura, motioning to the staircase to the higher tower near the drawbridge

Bakura growls a warning. "Do. Not. Touch." He flexes his fingers in case Marik did not heed.

Marik immediately gets his hand off of Bakura robes and takes a step back, putting a hand against his own throat as if protecting it, he gulps, "your right sire. I'm sorry" Marik goes over to the staircase to the tower, "but still, there's a great view from up here, you can see you're plan go into motion from there"

Bakura followed Marik up the staircase in silence, leaving the other three to their lonesome. Ryou didn't dare speak until Marik and Bakura were completely out of site. "Ahh, seems like the stick has been passed on." He sighed in a relieved type of way.

Anzu looks over to Ryou, "what do you mean by that?"

"I mean, Bakura is no longer doing that to me." He smiles toward the stairs.

Anzu looks to the stairs as well, "so, he used to do that sort of things to you? That's terrible." she looks over to Yami, "Yami... I hope you don't become that way towards your brother... if you do I'll never forgive you"

Yami rolls his eyes. "Of course not! What do you take me for!? I'm not like him." He looks down towards the ground. "I actually love my brother." He looks back up at Anzu. "I'm disappointed in you for ever thinking I'd be like him."

"Well, Ryou said before that Bakura wasn't always evil...” Anzu's eyes met Yami's, "And I had a feeling that Yugi learned calling himself a whiner from you"

Yami crinkled hi nose. "My hate doesn't come from Yugi, but from my grandfather." He looked away. "I never understood why he seemed to care for Yugi more than me, but now I do. If I were him, I probably would have acted the same way."

He looked back at Anzu, an anger flashing within his eyes. "I understand now Anzu. I can't change the way I was in the past, but I can change it now. And I have." He furrowed his eyebrows. "If I hadn't changed, I wouldn't have bothered saving Yugi." He then looks away quickly, still angry at Anzu for the implement.

Anzu sighs and looks down at the ground far below them, "I'm sorry... I guess I didn't quite understand you all that way... after all I've spent a few years alone with no one because I've been stuck here..."

Yami nods. "I'm sorry you've had to endure that." He closed his eyes, falling into silence.

Anzu looks back up, hopelessness in her eyes, "I believe... it'll be over for us soon...”

Ryo sighs. "Makes me wish I had stayed a toad. Cecelia's poofy hair would've been better than this." He added, looking down.
