The past is past..

Chapter One:Maybe things don't have to turn out as we remember

Ancient Egypt, during the end of the Shadow games. The Pharaoh had beaten the evil that plagued the earth... but.. now came the time where he must be gone. Where all who had partaken in this had died. To summon the powers of the magical beasts known as Duel Monsters, people had to be sacrificed, and so they had been. The Pharaoh's best friend lie on the ground, the one who had given his soul to become the FlameSwordsman. The Pharaoh's queen, who'd become the Magician of Faith..and even the Pharaoh himself who'd become the Black Magician.

All was lost. They were all dead. Even still, before them lie the corpse of the so called evil of the world. The one who'd become the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon himself. All had fallen in an unholy battle.. one which was never meant to progress. And, yet.. in the dying minds of all those who participated.. they knew it would happen again, but.. next time.. a new evil would rise up, and, perhaps even the current 'evil' would have decided to change their ways and help by that time.

~*Present day*~

It'd all been a dream, that was what Yuugi Mutou told himself as he sat up from bed, brushing his thumb over his eyeline to remove the sleep from the violet orbs. But, he knew the person who'd been the Black Magician in his dream. Hell.. he'd known everyone who'd been the people in that dream. Jonouchi Katsuya, the FlameSwordsman. Mazaki Anzu, the Magician of Faith. Yami, the spirit of his Millenium Puzzle as the Black Magician, the favorite card they shared. Shaking his head, the nineteen year old Yuugi Mutou stood up, stretching his arms and grasping his puzzle, putting the heavy chain around his neck. "I might as well go and see the others.." he said, brushing his bangs from his eyes. He'd grown a lot in the four years since he first got this puzzle. Hair was the same.. save a ponytail having grown at the back, and that he'd finalyl grown, he was the same height as Jonouchi, now. Heading down stairs, Yuugi said goodbye to his Grandfather, and headed out.

~*Jonouchi Residence*~

Katsuya awoke about the same time as Yuugi had, but to the smell of cooking in his kitchen. Sitting up from his bed, he yawned, brushing his blonde bangs from his brown eyes. "Eh...that smells good.." he said, standing up, clad only in his white tank top and a pair of black silk boxers. He could smell what the food was. Pancakes and bacon, his favorite. Smiling, he walked out into the kitchen. "Morning, Shizuka.." he said, moving behind his sister and wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug, causing the girl to giggle as she continued making her and her brother's breakfast.

Shizuka leaned her head and kissed her brother's cheek. "Onii-chan, why don't you put some clothes on and brush your teeth before we eat?" she asked with a small giggle. "Your breath is bad, brother." she teased and pointed to the bathroom, still cooking for them. Since Shizuka's eye operation, she and her brother lived together. Their Father had died.. liver poisoning. Katsuya had expected it, though, knowing his Father would be punished for what he'd done in his life by God eventually.

Katsuya yawned and moved into the bathroom, brushing his teeth, meanwhile thinking. He'd just had the oddest dream. It was him as the Flame Swordsman again..but, not like when they were in the Shadow Realm. They were all in Egypt. And, Jonouchi was facing off against the Rabid Horseman. Meanwhile, Anzu was the Magician of Faith, and she was fighting the Lord of D. And then.. there was Yuugi. No.. it was Yami Yuugi, and he was the Black Magician. It was odd, it was so familiar... and yet.. who Yami was fighting surprised him. Shrugging it off, Katsuya tried to pretend it was just a dream.. for now, and got dressed, then went to eat breakfast with the only woman in his life, his sister.

~*Mazaki Residence*~

Anzu found herself awake already, she'd actually been awake for many hours by now. She woke up about four am to an odd dream, and she hadn't been able to sleep since then, she was just too scared too now. She was dreaming she was her favorite card, the Magician of Faith, and her, Yami Yuugi, and Jonouchi were all fighting against Duel Monsters in Ancient Egypt. And, then they had all died fighting this battle, and on her dying breath, she made herself move to Yami and kiss him once..and tell him that she loved him before she died. That was what had confused her. Sure, she had a crush on Yami.. but.. love? Nah.. not a chance. Shaking her head, she thought about calling Yuugi to talk to him about it, but, she was afraid she'd seem like a silly little girl. Plus, she couldn't tell Yuugi that in the dream she had basically said she loved him. Shaking her head, she decided to go tell Shizuka..who'd become one of her best friends over the years. She could trust her. Grabbing her purse, she walked out of her house and began heading to the Jonouchi household.

~*Half an hour later*~

Not only had Anzu made her way to Katsuya and Shizuka's house, but, Yuugi had as well. Both met up right on the doorstep to the household. "Hey, Yuugi-chan!" Anzu said, smiling and grabbing her friend up in a hug, which he returned, albeit shyly. "I remember when I could have hugged you and lifted you over my head.. now look at you! You're taller than me.." she said, giggling a bit.

Yuugi sweatdropped. "Anzu, come on.. I've been this tall for a year and a half now..after that growth spurt, yet you still tease me about when I was short.." he said, smiling a bit, a slight tint to his pale cheeks, making them glow red. "You came to see Jonouchi too?" he asked, blinking a bit.

Anzu shook her head. "Nah, I actually wanted to see Shizuka.. seeing Katsuya is just an added bonus!" she joked, winking her left azure eye. People claimed that, as much as Anzu and Katsuya fought, that they really loved each other. So, they both had learned to just go along with it. Knocking on the door, Anzu and Yuugi were quickly greeted by Jonouchi. "Morning, Katsuya-kun!" Anzu chirped.

"Morning Jonouchi!" Yuugi gave in return.

Katsuya sighed. "Morning Anzu-chan, Yuugi-kun. Come on in." he said, moving back into the house and leaving the door open for them. "Shizuka, we got company!" he explained, falling down onto the black leather couch in their living room. Since Katsuya was a top-ranked Duelist, he easily afforded his own place where only he and Shizuka lived. When Shizuka turned eighteen, she decided she wanted to get out on her own.. but.. she couldn't with no job, so she moved in with her big brother.

Shizuka came out from the kitchen, having cleaned up after the two siblings and once Anzu was seen, she immediately ran over and hugged her. Then she noticed Yuugi and shyly waved. Shizuka had gotten over her crush on Kaiba long ago, obviously, and.. after a few bad relationships, had decided she was giving up on boys, but, in reality, she liked Yuugi. He was so sweet and innocent.. it was just what she wanted. But, she dare not tell Yuugi.. let him make the first move. Then, Anzu whispered something in Shizuka's ear, and she nodded. "Boys, we're gonna have some girl talk, be back in a bit!" and before Katsuya or Yuugi realized it, the girls had gone to Shizuka's room to talk.

"Jonouchi-kun, I had a weird dream. Remember when we were all Duel Monsters? Well.. I had a dream where we.." Yuugi was cut off.

"I had the same dream.." he explained, but, it had turned out that the girls hadn't yet headed off to Shizuka's room.

"I had the same dream too.." Anzu said. "Um.. I'll let you boys talk though..come on Shizuka." Anzu said, pulling her best friend to talk privately. She wanted to explain the whole Yuugi her thing to Shizuka.

Katsuya thought for a moment. "Ya know, Yuge.. this might be trying to tell us something. I think we should remember this..don't you?" he asked.

"Hai.. we should, Jonouchi-kun.." he said, then thought about something. "Ya know.. the girls went to talk alone..perhaps not just talking?" he joked.

"Yuugi.. you'll never change.. still a total hentai.. and you're talking about the girl you like in there.. my sister.." he said snickering. "You muttered her name in your sleep last time I slept over.." he said with a faint grin.

"I don't like her!!" Yuugi swore, blushing brightly.

"Sure buddy.." he said snickering some more. "Anyway.. once the girls are done, let's all head out and hang out at the park, that sound good?" he asked.

"Yeah! I heard they're having a karaoke festival today!" Yuugi said grinning.

"Sounds awesome, the girls'll love it." Katsuya said, grinning. "Maybe I can finally become a star too." he said laughing a bit. Jonouchi Katsuya still hadn't changed in four years..not at all.
