It was hot and sticky in Domino City and Yuugi Moto was wandering around the shops trying to find something for Yami. The Spirit of the Millennium Puzzle had been a good friend and companion to young Yuugi, protecting him, taking care of him and becoming more in Yuugi's eyes. When has it all changed for me? When did I start to care for Yami as more than a friend, when did I start seeing him as someone and something else? Yuugi thought, lost in his own dark thoughts; the Millennium Puzzle a warm weight against the cotton of his t-shirt; a warmth that began to pulsate.

// is everything alright? You seem troubled about something. // the warm voice of Yami filled Yuugi's senses.

/ I am fine, just walking around downtown looking for something. / Yuugi responded, though something traveled along their link between them but what it was, he didn't know.

// Something for you or someone else perhaps? //

/ Are you always this nosy? /

Yami chuckled softly in Yuugi's mind and responded, // perhaps I am, hikari, perhaps I am . . . I will leave you to it; but remember, if you need me . . . //

/ I will reach for you. / Yuugi smiled as he felt Yami retreat out of his thoughts and mind, and probably return to his Room of Souls. Yuugi realized that Yami could probably pick the thoughts out of his mind and resolved to tell him how he felt and soon. Hopefully with the gift, that would not have to be said, for Yuugi was nervous.

“Earth to Yuug, come in?” came a voice from behind the young man and Yuugi turned to see his friend Katsuya standing behind him. “You okay, you looked a little . . . odd `dere Yuug.”

Yuugi shrugged his shoulders, “I was thinking.” He responded finally with a small smile, “I am trying to find a gift for Yami-kun.”

“A gift?”

“Hai.” Yuugi continued, “something special, but I can't find him anything.” He finished, sounding disappointed.

“Yuug? Can I ask ya somethin'?” Katsuya inquired, his blond hair blowing in the slight breeze as he glanced down at his friend. Yuugi nodded and Katsuya pressed the question that had been burning in the back of his mind for so long. “Do you love Yami?” Yuugi blushed a deep shade of pink that blazed across his cheeks, “ya don't halfta answer,”

“Hai,” Yuugi whispered in response. “I do, since the first time Yami consumed me I knew that he was my soul; he is the darkness to my light.”

“So, `dis is a love gift `den?” Katsuya mused as they continued to walk down the street passing more shops, “Hmm, if I was a five thousand year old spirit, what would I want?” he muttered, as he stopped short and looked around noticing that Yuugi was no longer next to him. “Yuug?”

Yuugi had stopped and was presently peering into a large window; where a scarab lay on a velvet pillow, it was made from a deep blue stone and seemed to shimmer; three inches in length and approximately two inches wide. “That is what I want to get him.” Yuugi whispered, touching the glass with trembling fingertips.

Katsuya jogged over and peered at the piece in the window, “looks expensive, Yuug.” He said, but then he noticed a determined glint in his best friend's violet gaze and realized that Yuugi was serious.

“I don't care,” Yuugi replied, gazing at the scarab again. Wings that seemed iridescent and almost glowing with power extended from the body calling to him. “It's what I want.” He finished, making his way to the door of the shop and pushing it open.

The woman who came out of the back room to the tinkling of the bell over the door and smiled at the young man who was the reincarnation of her Pharaoh, though he didn't know it yet. “Welcome young one.”

“Um, hello.” Yuugi responded as he wandered over to the window where the scarab lay. “Can you tell me how much this is?”

Ishizu walked over, her gown rustling slightly with her movements. “The Scarab, which is a very powerful object for one who believes in the mystical power of Egypt, as I see you do, young one.” She softly responded, noting the puzzle around his neck. “You are the caretaker of the Millennium Puzzle, and the Scarab is meant for someone close to you.”

“Close to me?”

“Hai, someone you love and who loves you, though he may not realize it just yet but he will.” She spoke, her voice softening.

Yuugi looked up at her, his violet eyes widening in shock as he saw a Millennium item around her slender throat. “What do you mean?”

“You will discover that soon enough, Yuugi Moto, I promise you that.” Ishizu finished, reaching into the case and removing the scarab gently and showing it to him. “This Scarab is very precious, and rare, granting something very special to the one who wears it.” She whispered continuing as she placed it down on another velvet pillow on the case. “Is this what you wish to give him?”

“Give whom?”

“The Spirit of the Millennium Puzzle that you wear . . . it is to be a gift, is it not?” Ishizu queried softly.

“Hai.” Yuugi responded, blushing a light shade of pink.

Ishizu smiled and placed it in a box. “You know how to get to his Room of Souls, yes?” Yuugi nodded. Ishizu spoke, “once it is around his neck, he will know and so will you.”

“What will I know?”

“What the answer is to the question that burns in your heart.” Ishizu finished, handing Yuugi the package that she had carefully wrapped in brown paper. Yuugi accepted the package and tucked it under his arm smiling at Ishizu. “Do not say anything; just follow the scarab for it will lead the way to your heart.” She finished softly, placing a scarab pin on his jacket.

Confused, Yuugi looked to see Katsuya waiting outside for him. “You get whatcha' wanted Yuug?” Katsuya asked as he looked to his friend and noticed the box beneath his arm and a small pin that Ishizu had put on his jacket.

“Uh huh, I think so.” Yuugi countered, as the two headed back towards Yuugi's Grandfather's card shop. “She told me to follow the Scarab to my heart.”

“'Da Scarab? Ya mean this thing?” Katsuya queried again as he poked the scarab on Yuugi's jacket.

“I guess.” He responded as he opened the back door of the shop and called out, “Grandpa?” he called, but there was no answer. “Guess he's not here.” Glancing around, Yuugi looked on the kitchen counter and found a note. “Oh, he's gone out to a card convention and won't be back until Monday.” Sighing, he looked at Katsuya.

“I'll see ya then, Yuug, take care and good luck.” Katsuya spoke softly as he ruffled Yuugi's hair and headed out the door, closing it behind him, leaving Yuugi alone in the house.

Going upstairs, Yuugi placed the package on his bed and took a deep breath. Lifting the Millennium Puzzle from around his neck he held it for a few moments then sat cross-legged on the floor and placed it before him.

// Yuugi? What's wrong? //

/ Nothing . . . /

// You removed the puzzle //

/ Yes, but don't worry, I'm okay. /

// Then why? // Yami inquired, as he sat in his room of souls looking around the stone room with a curious gaze on his face, his crimson eyes filled with wonder at why Yuugi had removed the puzzle from around his neck. // Yuugi? // he asked, but there was no answer. // YUUGI!?! //

Yuugi had gone into a trance and presently was following a fluttering blue scarab around the stone hallways and paths that made up the Room of Souls where Yami liked to stay whenever he was not in control. The scarab's wings were fluttering quickly and there was a buzzing sound as it flit this way and that. Yuugi ran after it, up and down stone stairs watching as the scarab hovered by closed doors and he himself held the package in his arm, but this wasn't the true package that lay on his bed on the outside world. Most of the doors they passed were blank and didn't have a mark on them, and then the scarab hovered by one door which had the Millennium Puzzle emblazoned on it. The glittering scarab disappeared; and Yuugi opened the door . . .

Yami was pacing the room he was in for once he lost contact with his hikari; he was terrified that the young man was gone. Yuugi, if something has happened to you I will never forgive myself . . . please, little light, come back to me safely. I need you, for you are a part of me, one that you do not even realize. When the door opened, Yami looked up at the creaking doorway and swallowed. “Yuugi?”

“Hello, Yami.” Yuugi said as he shuffled over a bit shyly with the package before him. “Am I intruding?”

“No, you are always welcome in my room of Souls, little light.” Yami said in response, waving his hand and the entire stone room changed to that of an Egyptian Room in a palace. The floors were a shiny multi colored marble, swirls of black, gray and white and shone as though they had been freshly polished. The walls melted away from stone bricks to golden tones with hieroglyphs on it, symbols that meant nothing to Yuugi. The last thing to emerge in a puff of golden smoke was a couch, but this one was not remotely Egyptian but reminiscent of the couch in Yuugi's home. “Sit, and tell me what brings you to my sanctuary.” He finished walking over and sitting on the couch.

Yuugi looked around before he followed Yami over to the couch and sat down on the cushion. “I . . . I brought you a gift. For your birthday.”

“Hikari? I do not remember when my birthday is, you did not have to do this . . .” Yami said as he looked to the package that Yuugi was holding out towards him. “But thank you, hikari.” Yami finished as he reached out and took it from his little light, and began to unwrap it.

“I just wanted you to have something, a l . . . gift.”

“A what?”

“Nevermind.” Yuugi said as he blushed pink and looked down at the couch cushion between them. “Enjoy your gift, Yami.” He finished before vanished in a blazing ball of golden light leaving Yami alone in the soul room.

Yami finished opening the package and lifted out the scarab and gently fingered the lapis lazuli stone in the center that made up the body of the beetle, the wings seemed to be outlined in beaten gold and inlaid with other semi-precious stones, but there was something about the pendant when he lifted it out of the box that Yami was unprepared for. It felt warm; as though it thrummed with power. It seemed to be waiting for him to do or say something. By Ra, Yuugi, I want to be with you . . . show you how I truly feel inside, that you are my little light and you are the one that keeps the darkness within me at bay. The scarab pulsated blue then seemed to come alive as it drew his spirit, his essence out of the Millennium Puzzle.

Yuugi was gone and Yami was alone in his hikari's bedchamber and sat on the edge of the bed, wondering why he had been drawn from within his room of Souls and out of the puzzle itself. Then he noticed the true pendant resting in its open box; for when he opened the box inside, it opened out here as well such was the way of the magic. Reaching for it with ghostly fingers, the scarab pulsed again when his fingers encountered the stone; becoming something else . . .

Yuugi stepped out of his cold shower, wiping water from his hair that now spilled down his back in waves of colors. Wrapping a fluffy towel around his hips, Yuugi made his way down the hallway to his bedroom, but when he opened the door he saw something that made him swallow heavily and all the blood in his body rush south . . .

Yami was enveloped by a golden glow that was brighter than the sun, and then faded just as quickly and the former Pharaoh was standing before Yuugi's desk dressed in a way that Yuugi had never seen him before. Twin collars of beaten gold were around his muscular throat, connecting to a collar of the same material that rested on his muscular bare chest. Smaller, twin bands encircled his biceps and his tanned Egyptian skin gleamed as though it had been massaged with oil, deep gold cloth encircled his waist and held up a swath of what appeared to be white linen in a skirt of sorts with a flap in the front. “Yami?” Yuugi inquired softly, and his darkness turned around and looked at him.

Crimson eyes lined with kohl; making them seem deeper and more mysterious met the violet gaze of Yuugi, and a smile curled on those lips. “Yes, Hikari, it is I.” he responded, the toned form turning gracefully almost like a cat.

“What . . . what happened?” Yuugi stammered, and then noticed that the scarab pendant was in the center of the gold collar that Yami was wearing.

“The Scarab is a powerful item and I thank you for getting me the gift.”

“There was a reason I got it for you, Yami, it's because I . . .” Yuugi's voice trailed off as Yami crossed the room in the space of three steps and reached out to his hikari; trembling fingers caressing Yuugi's cheek and feeling the petal-soft skin. “You . . .”

“It is the power of the Scarab you brought me, that you gifted me with. It has the power to grant wishes.” Yami responded, as he cupped Yuugi's cheek in his hand and stroked the skin once more with the pad of his thumb. “My wishes . . . and the ones of my hikari . . . my koi.”

Yuugi's violet eyes went wide with shock and disbelief for a brief moment in time; a heartbeat then their hearts seemed to mingle and beat as one. With blood pounding in his ears in a roaring rush, Yuugi stammered, “Your . . . your koi? You . . . you love me?” his lower lip quivered like a wavering leaf in a spring breeze.

“Yes, I do, hikari, very much so.” Yami whispered in response; leaning down and gently brushing his mouth over Yuugi's. Yuugi's eyes fluttered shut with the tender onslaught of that kiss, in which Yami's strong arms threaded around his slender form and pulled him in closer. The Pharaoh's tongue slipped through Yuugi's lips as they parted and tongues battled for dominance, neither one giving in. Yami was surprised by Yuugi's passionate responses and the way his fingers threaded in his own tri-colored locks. Breaking the soul-searing kiss that they shared, Yami pulled back long enough to look into those violet eyes. “Yuugi, I do love you, I think I always have.”

“Yami, she told me that this would happen but what did you wish for?”

“Depends, aibou, what did you wish for?” Yami inquired, as he gently traced Yuugi's jawline with his fingers. “Tell me what you wished for, my little light.”

Yuugi smiled softly, “I wished for you and me to be one, in all ways. I know we share a body, and a mind . . . but my heart and soul already belong to you and I want all of me to be yours.” His voice was quiet; as he dropped his gaze to stare at the dark carpeting between them.

Yami lifted Yuugi's chin with his finger and smiled tenderly at his love before speaking, “I wished to be whole to make love to you, for it is what I have wanted to do for so very long.” There were no more words to say or things to explain; just two souls merging into one through trust and love, two heartbeats beating in time with each other. Yami laid Yuugi back on the bed, removing the towel from around his hikari's slender hips; Yuugi's skin was almost luminescent in the light of the waxing moon that drifted through the open window the breeze that accompanied the light making the young man's nipples pebble. Lying next to Yuugi, Yami's hand slid over the pearly flesh, taking his sweet time as he mapped each and every muscle and slight curve. His own form a mix of sharp angles and chiseled features, as his crimson gaze focused on his beloved little light's breathing, noticing that Yuugi's chest was rising and falling quickly, panting with short intakes of breath.

“Yami . . . what's happening to me?”

“Pleasure, wagakokoro (my heart), let me guide you, my little love.” Yami whispered, caressing Yuugi's face with gentle kisses as he maneuvered down the side of Yuugi's neck to the junction where it met his shoulder. Yami bit there harshly sucking on the skin and bringing blood to the surface, marking his territory as it were. “What else did she say?” was the ex-pharaoh's query against the soft skin of Yuugi's neck.

“That the scarab would give me the answer to the question burning within me and would lead me to my heart.” Yuugi panted in response, he had been given wings by his beloved Pharaoh and together they soared higher and higher in the night sky.

“And did it?”

“Hai, it did.” Yuugi whispered as he lifted Yami's head to his own and kissed him ever so softly, his trembling lips caressing as soft as a butterfly's wingtip.

Yami chuckled huskily, “and where is your heart, Yuugi?”

Yuugi lifted his hand, the whole thing quivering as he placed it on the golden collar just over Yami's heart, “Right here, where it belongs.” Yami groaned at the searing heat that seemed to resonate from Yuugi's hand through the golden collar he wore and into his very soul, and then their lips crashed together again, Yami left no corner of Yuugi's mouth untouched by his tongue, and Yuugi was completely consumed once more by the spirit now flesh. When Yami broke the kiss this time, his mouth hot and wet traveled down Yuugi's throat and past the collarbones, his tongue tasting the flesh beneath his lips.

A gasp left Yuugi's parted lips as Yami found one of the hardened puckers that was his nipple, the skilled ex-Pharaoh's tongue sliding around and flicking before pulling it between his lips and sucking on it hard. The slender back arched sharply, pushing more of his flesh into Yami's wanton mouth. Fingers grasped at the sheets, nearly tearing them as the passion flared in his blood, Yuugi's head thrashed on the pillow, eyes shut tight. / Yami . . . please . . . /

// Please what? // Yami answered in their link, his mouth continuing its downwards path passing his navel; Yami's nose inhaling the scent of vanilla as he reached the juncture of Yuugi's thighs. // What is it that you want, koi? //

/ You, I want you. /

// Shinbou . . . wagakokoro. // Yami responded as he sucked his finger into his mouth and got it nice and wet, sliding it between his little light's spread thighs, moving his shoulders betwixt them. Yami began to slowly lick his way up Yuugi's hardened shaft, while he himself was still dressed, Yuugi whimpered sharply and wiggled his hips in an effort to find release but never felt the slight intrusion as Yami began to circle his entrance and force his way inside.

/ Yaaaaaaami! / Yuugi whimpered in his mind along their link.

// You are so beautiful my little light, so wanting, so needy and I want to take care of you. //

/ You're not taking care of me. Need you now. / Yuugi sent, his fingers sliding into Yami's hair and trying to pull him away from his aching erection. Yuugi felt the finger's intrusion and though it was uncomfortable, it was not that unpleasant, it was tight when Yami began to push in a second finger then stopped completely, as Yami looked up to see Yuugi's violet eyes filled with pain. / Don't . . . don't stop. /

// I must, little love, I do not want to hurt you. // Yami responded, removing his fingers. // I will return, do not move a muscle. //

Yuugi watched with wide eyes as Yami left his bedroom and heard him padding around; then watched him return with a small bowl filled with some sort of liquid. While he was gone however, Yuugi realized that Yami had discarded the linen skirt and was naked save for his armbands and the collar around his neck. / You are the beautiful one . . . Yami. /

“Then you like what you see?” Yami inquired placing the bowl down on the nightstand and lay atop Yuugi's slender form.

“Hai.”

“And I love what I see in you, my light.” Yami whispered, dipping his fingers in the liquid and slid them over Yuugi's moonlit form, back to the still spread thighs. Gently Yami began to slick Yuugi's entrance and press his fingers back inside. “You must relax.” He continued, placing gentle kisses against Yuugi's lips and cheek, to his ear where he nibbled on the lobe sending delighted shivers through the slender form he loved so much. // I will never hurt you, aibou, never. //

/ I know. / Yuugi replied along their link and sent a wave of love and trust. It was that wave that filled Yami with a tenderness for his beloved light, sending a wave in response that was filled with desire and loyalty. Tapping his way inside his light's tight channel, he found the bundle of nerves that upon his touch sent Yuugi gasping for air and choking on a scream. / YAMI!!! / Yuugi cried out along their link, making Yami chuckle softly as he continued to nibble on Yuugi's earlobe. / Yami please . . . /

Yami smiled and pulled Yuugi to his feet and took his place on the bed, laying down on his back and pulling his light atop him, facing him, so that Yuugi was kneeling astride his hips. // I want you to be in control, so we will stop if you need to. // Their fingers on one hand intertwined so nothing could part them, but it was Yami who had to stop and groan in pleasure, as Yuugi reached between them with his fingertips having been dipped in the oil and slid them across Yami's erection. Yami had to stop Yuugi after a few minutes of he would lose himself in the innocent touches from his other half for each touch was searing Yami's soul deeper, binding them closer together.

Holding his aching erection in his hand, Yuugi slowly began to move his buttocks downwards, hissing in pain at the burning pain of Yami's entrance to his channel. Yami looked to his beloved and prepared to pull himself out, / NO! Don't move, it's not bad . . . just . . . twinges a bit. / Yuugi said along their link for he was biting his lower lip.

// We do not have to do this, Yuugi. //

“Please, Yami, I want to be one with you, I love you, and I want this more than you could possibly know.” Yuugi whispered, as he leaned down and kissed Yami again, a single tear tracing its way down his cheek. “Please, don't pull back.”

Yami nodded, “Then take your time.” He said in response, wiping away the tear with his thumb. “We have all night.”

Yuugi smiled and responded by turning his face in Yami's hand and capturing the thumb between his teeth giving it a sharp tug, as he pushed himself down harder onto Yami's erection and let out a cry of both pleasure and pain; Yami hissed in desire as he was sheathed within his light to the hilt. Twining their fingers together, Yuugi began to move slowly atop his heart and soul-mate; grinding his hips in a hypnotic slow motion that had Yami moaning beneath him tightening their fingers until both their knuckles were white. “Yami . . .” Yuugi groaned softly.

“My Light, my Soul.” Yami responded, opening his crimson gaze and looking up at his lover; whose head was thrown back in ecstasy, Yuugi's entire form was quaking, and it was then that Yami reached out and took Yuugi's erection and began to stroke it in time to the movements of those willowy hips. “You can feel it creeping up on you, let it go, my light.”

“I'll fall, Yami . . . I'm flying so high . . .”

“Fall, beloved one, I will catch you.” Yami answered, his voice soft but he increased the strokes against Yuugi's erection and watched those violet eyes flicker in exhilaration and his milky white seed sprayed the bronzed skin of Yami's chest. Panting from the exertion, Yuugi nearly collapsed atop his lover, his beloved darkness and trembled; as Yami gently rolled them over and stroked the side of Yuugi's face.

“You didn't . . .”

“Didn't what,” Then it dawned on Yami, “I didn't release? I wanted you to find your release first, little one, for I wanted to take you, the way I have done so many times in my dreams and did not want to hurt you in the process.”

“Take me, Yami.”

“How hard? How fast?” Yami inquired as he pulled back then pushed inside and slowly began to plunder that sweet form but not fast, but slow and easy.

"Uhn . . ." Yuugi grunted, the rhythm of Yami's hips moving within him felt like the pulse of the blood in his veins. He moved sinuously to meet those slow thrusts, not attempting to change the rhythm, but clenching around his lover in the same pace. His body vibrated with pleasure.

Yami moved with the languid lazy pace of the rhythm of their combined heartbeats and not any faster, but each thrust of his hips as he moved was deep and hard. "You are so wantonly beautiful my love.... so beautiful."

"So good," Yuugi's breath hissed out, his eyes dark and luminous with desire. His long lithe figure was taut with suppressed need, trembling as Yami's body joined with his in a dance of love and commitment.

Yami chuckled and began to move within his loving light. Regardless of the rhythm of his heart, he began to pound into that lithe form with undefined passion and vigor. Lust radiated off his face as he threw his head back and thrust harder and deeper, before leaning down and connecting their lips in a locked position; tongue thrusting as his own loins did, the sounds of flesh meeting flesh reverberating though the room.

Yuugi cried out as Yami's lust whirled around him in a red haze. The slap of their bodies meeting in a fast furious rhythm teamed with the heady taste of the ex-pharaoh's mouth slanted over his own. The scent of their lovemaking was spice and musk and the feel of Yami's velvet covered steel entering his warm pulsating channel was overwhelming. And at that moment, Yuugi knew he would carry this memory in his spirit for eternity.

Yami thrust deep once more and came with a roar that echoed through the room. Reaching between their bodies, Yami stroked his Light's rampaging erection and smiled tenderly at him. "Come for me, beloved. "

Distracted for a moment, it barely fazed Yuugi as his body almost immediately arched upwards as he clenched around Yami keening out his release. His seed sprayed out over his chest, stomach and Yami's strong hand. He quivered as he fell back on the mattress panting.

Yami pulled out and lapped up each precious drop of seed, rising then from the bed and heading into the bathroom and returning with a wet cloth, as he gently and tenderly cleaned up his soul-mate. “How are you feeling?” he asked, concerned at the look on Yuugi's face.

"Ecstatic, sated and very, very happy," Yuugi said with a dreamy smile, he reached up then to pull Yami down for a tender kiss. "Thank you, my beloved."

“You are very welcome, my love . . . rest now.” Yami replied, as he moved next to Yuugi and wrapped his arms around his younger lover.

Yuugi rested his head on Yami's chest, listening to the heart that rumbled a soothing beat. Closing his violet eyes, he whispered, “Love you, Yami, very much.”

"I love you too, and no matter what it is or when you want it . . . if it is within my power to grant it, your wish will always be my command." Yami whispered in response softly into Yuugi's ear as he kissed the tip, stroking his hair as his beloved slept; safe within the circle of his arms, where he would remain. Forever.
