Everyone is searching for a new world
To achieve that overflowing dream
Jumping over the horizon
Not knowing what's beyond there
We've been running
Jumping into hope, only to forget courage
Being swept away by the crowd
We lost something important
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
I slaugh with a frown
That was the best smile I could make now
The mask overflowed with tears
And over the soggy mask
I once again hide myself with a new mask
I continue to walk along the flat battle field
Unable to wrap and struggling, yeah!
At a far cape, the dream
Waits patiently
Even with a clumsy search
I can probably arrive there
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
I always turn my gaze away
The unseen heart invited
Me to run away
But at night I look up to the stars
Looking through binoculars
Searching for my place
I continue along the balanced battle field
Grabbing onto an unwithering flower, yeah!
The far cape, I'm
Beginning to her near even if I lose my way
The waves will probably tell me
Searching for a new world, hesitation and
Confusion, I probably knew it
If I don't stand and step out
There's something I can't obtain
Everyone is searching for a new world
To achieve that overflowing dream
Jumping over the horizon
Aiming for the cape of hope.
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
Ch. 12: Magic Control
The next morning arrived and the young ruler woke up when the sunlight hit his closed eyes. “Not to be rude, but Ra, I hate it when you're reborn to this world and wake me.” He said rubbing his eyes. He felt his arm being tightened and looked to see Heba, still asleep, hugging his arm. There were faint tear stains on her face, and it concerned him. He remembered from the last night how the stains came to be.
^Flashback^
He was finishing up a scroll when he heard soft sobbing sounds. He looked over and saw her curled up in a ball and was trembling. “Heba?”
“Stop… Please stop…” She said quietly as tears streamed down.
“Heba, Heba wake up.” He said lightly shaking her.
She turned away from him and places her hands over her ears. “Stop, please stop! Is anyone there to help me?”
He was really worried now. “Heba! Wake up!” He said as he grabbed on of her wrists and forced her to look at him. The site of her made him worry more.
Her eyes were opened, but they had a look that seemed far away.
“Heba…” He said once more loudly.
She blinked a couple of times before she recognized him. “What's wrong Pharaoh?”
“You had a nightmare.”
“A nightmare?”
“Yes, they're dreams that scare you.”
“Really?”
“Don't you remember?”
She shook her head. “No, am I supposed to remember dreams?”
“Well, there are some you can, but what I meant to say was that you remember feeling any distress?”
She shook her head. “No, I'm fine. Why?”
He wiped away a tear that stayed there on her face. “You were crying, and it seems you were afraid of something.”
“I don't remember feeling scared.” She looked thoughtful.
`Strange,' he thought `even if you can't remember a dream, you could still feel the effects of the dream.' He sighed. `I guess there are things that are meant to be unknown.'
She yawned. “What time is it?”
“Some time between the middle of the night to the rebirth of Ra.”
“That early?” She said in a surprised manor. “I'm so sorry that I woke you up.”
“Don't be, I wasn't even asleep.” He said wit a smile.
“How come?”
He pointed to the scrolls.
She looked at the pile. “That's a lot. Aren't you tired at all?”
He yawned. “Does that answer your question?”
She giggled. “Do you have much to do?”
He stretched. “I think I reached my limit.” He yawned again.
“I see.” She said with a giggle.
^End of Flashback^
`She was dreaming about something, yet was not affected of the emotional aftermath when she woke up.' He sighed. `I have to talk to Siamun about this, maybe he will know.'
“Morning.” She said while rubbing her eyes.
He thought the motion was cute but shook that thought out. “Morning Heba, how did you sleep?”
“Very well thanks, and you?”
“Like a rock.” He said making her laugh. “So, what are you and Mana doing today?”
She looked thoughtful. “Mana is doing her lessons with Mahado… Pharaoh?”
“Yes?”
“Is it possible for me to learn magic?”
He looked at her for a moment. “I don't see why not.”
“But is it possible? That's what I'm asking.”
He examined her for a moment. `It could be helpful.' He thought remembering what happened the first time she came here. “I'll have to talk to Mahado, he may have a better answer than I do.”
She nodded her understanding.
He got out of the bed and started to stretch, remembering that there's another person here.
“Getting dressed?”
“Yes…” He said as he remembered another thing. “I almost forgot you don't have any clothes to wear.”
She smiled. “I'm sure there's something around here.” She said as she got out of bed. The night gown she wore was big on her and her shoulder was showing on one side. She yawned while she stretched, which made the young ruler blush but only for a moment.
He went into his closet to change into his royal garments. `Let's see…' He thought looking at the clothes he has. `She's too small for these.' He sighed as an idea came up. He grabbed one of the garments and a belt before walking out. “Heba?” He called as he looked around the room.
“Over here!” She said, calling from the outside balcony.
He went over and saw her, smiling brightly at him.
“Have you ever seen the city in the morning?” She said.
He went over and saw the city. “Yes, but I don't see what caught you interest.”
She looked confused. “You mean you can't see what your city look like in the morning sun?”
It was his turn to be confused. “Enlighten me than.”
She smiled as she pointed to the sands. “See over there? The desert down to the city looks like bronze. And the river,” she pointed to the Nile, “looks like glass that has been skillfully made to a brilliant shine!”
He looked at the area more and was somewhat surprised. “I've looked out this same balcony since I was really little and this is the first time I've seen the city like you see.”
“Maybe you did notice when you were little, but you were so used to seeing it you forgot what makes the city so amazing.” She said as she lifted her head and basked in the sun's warmth.
He stared at her in complete awe. Then he noticed something on her back, but it disappeared before he could confirm it.
“What do you have there?” She asked pointing to the clothes in his hand.
“You're outfit till we get your own.”
“Thank you Pharaoh.” She said as she took the clothes from him. “I'll be right back.” She said as she ran inside.
He smiled than became thoughtful. `I would've sworn I saw… No, that can't be possible.' He thought. `Just a trick caused by Ra's rays.' He sighed. `First my father's tomb was raided, than Bakura and his Diabound come and attacked the palace. Not only that, but Heba was caught up with the fight, nearly died, and had her memories taken away… So much to do.'
“Pharaoh?”
He looked behind him only to look amazed.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes… You look great.”
She was wearing a white dress like outfit with a light blue belt wrapped around her waist. “Thank you.” She said with a small tint of blush on her cheeks.
“Pharaoh?” Siamun said as he entered.
“Yes Siamun?” The Pharaoh said.
“The priests are waiting for you and…” He paused when he saw Heba. “My, my, don't you look lovely this morning.”
She giggled. “Thank you, the Pharaoh was very kind to lend me some of his clothes.”
Siamun blinked. “Really now?” He eyed the young ruler, who was trying to hide his blush.
As they reached to where the priests were chatting, Mana was the first to go up to them and hugged Heba. “Morning!” She said.
Heba laughed. “Morning Mana, sorry we kept all of you waiting.”
“Don't worry about it.” Mana said. “We were just getting ready to eat breakfast.”
Heba's stomach growled, and she blushed. “Please don't mention about food.” She said causing the other girl to laugh. She looked over to the Pharaoh, who was talking to Mahado.
“What's up?” Mana asked.
“I asked the Pharaoh earlier if it's possible for me to learn magic like you.”
“You're going to learn magic?”
“I'm not sure yet.”
After everyone has eaten, and finished their side conversation, Mahado came up to the two young females. “The Pharaoh has told me you had a sudden interest in learning magic.” He said.
Heba nodded.
“Well, just so you know that learning how to use and control magic isn't as easy as it appears to be.”
“I'm fully aware of that.”
“Alright then, I guess we'll start with the basics.” He said as they left the room.
She caught the Pharaoh looking at her and she smiled with a silent thank you.
The Pharaoh smiled as the trio disappeared.
“She's an interesting one.” Siamun said.
“Yes.” The young ruler said as he looked over at his vizier. “Which reminds me, I have something to ask you.”
“Speak it out Great Pharaoh.” Siamun joked.
He explained what happened in the night and waited for the elder's response.
“Hmm… That is very unusual.” The elder said.
`I'll let him ponder on that, right now there are more important matters to deal with.'
~Later that afternoon~
While the session was taking place, the young ruler kept thinking back to Heba. It wasn't long that the priests found out that something was on their god-king's mind. So he told them about what he told Siamun and now they were discussing about her.
“Isis,” Kalim said. “Since you have yet spoken out your opinion, would you like to voice it out?”
“I believe,” Isis started. “that this is the gods' magic of blocking her memories.”
“But the price for life was-“
“I'm aware of that, but that doesn't mean it can try to let itself known.”
“What do you mean?” Shada asked.
“Because,” The Pharaoh said suddenly. “her life has very important pieces, and each was like a piece of treasure. Loosing that treasure like that can make someone heartbroken. But a part of her has a hold of the memories on a very thin thread and tries to pull them back or they'll be lost forever.” He looked at the priests.
“PHARAOH!!” Mana called out as she ran into the throne room.
“Mana?!” The young ruler said as he noticed that she looked as though she was beaten. “What's wrong, and what happened?”
“It's Heba… She's can't control her magic!”
Everyone in the room were surprised by this as the Pharaoh got out of the throne room and headed towards the gardens that the trio decided to practice. When he arrived, he saw Mahado standing and watching at the huge orb like light. “What happened?” He asked.
Mahado looked at the young ruler. “Pharaoh?” He sighed. “I'm not sure what happened. But when I told her to think of someone to protect and think of something awful happening to that person and react on that feeling. I had no idea it would come to this.”
“Why would you tell her such things?”
“Because she was struggling, and sometimes it helps if you focus on something that motivates that person.” He sighed. “But in this case, it was too much.” He looked at the orb.
“Is Heba in there?”
“Yes, but I fear that if she doesn't control that magic, on that she summoned, she would slowly kill herself.” As soon as he said that, the other ran towards the orb. “Pharaoh! Don't go near it!”
“Mahado!” Seth called as he and the other priest ran up. “What in Ra's-“
“Pharaoh!” Mana called as she saw the young ruler run up to the orb.
“Heba!” The young king called. “It's me, Pharaoh! Can you hear me!” He waited for some sign from the young girl. When none came he took another step. “I'm coming in Heba!”
“Pharaoh!” Everyone called, but their king just ignored him.
He went up to the orb and looked to see if he could find at least some thing of the girl. He noticed a faint shadow in the center of the orb. `There you are.' He thought as he took a cautious step foreword. “Heba?” He called and saw the shadowed figure moved. “Heba, are you alright? Please answer me!” He then sensed that the energy of the orb started to lessen, allowing him to move closer without being harmed.
“Pharaoh?” A soft voice said from the orb.
“Heba? Are you alright?”
“Go away! I don't want to hurt anyone!” She said as the orb regains some of its energy, causing the young man to step back.
“I know Heba, this isn't your fault!”
“Yes it is!” The energy increased.
`Shit, what do I do?' He thought. `I never come across such energy before.' He looked at the huddled up figure. “Heba, would you like to tell me what happened here?”
Silence.
“Heba… Please, I don't want to see you in distress like this.” He heard a sobbing sound. “Please talk to me.” The energy died down allowing him to move closer. When the orb was nothing more than a bubble protecting the young girl, she looked up with a tearful expression.
“I don't know how to get rid of it.” She said a bit choked.
He bent down to her level, since she was sitting on the ground. “Take a deep breath and slowly let it out.”
She did this a few times and the bubble disappeared. “It's gone!”
He nodded. “Yes, now… would you like to tell me what upset you?”
Back to the priests and Mana, who looked shocked from the site that they witnessed.
“Amazing.” Mahado said.
“What is Master?” Mana asked, completely lost.
“Usually when someone looses control of their magic, they would usually suffer injuries or death, but…” He looked at the two. “In her case, she has to calm down from whatever upset her.”
“I still don't understand.”
“When I told her to focus on something to protect and imagine that being threatened, it upsetted her and her magic reacted by going out of control.”
“In other words,” Akhenaden said. “her magic runs on her emotions.”
“Yes. The stronger the emotion, the stronger the magic and its result.”
“And I bet there's a down side to this effect.” Seth said.
“As you saw moments ago, her magic took form of an orb. But what if it was a shock wave or and explosion? I'm just glad that she didn't choose to do anything destructive.”
“Uh… Master? If her powers are run by emotions, than what would you call that?” Mana said as she pointed to the two.
Everyone looked at the two and gasped. The Pharaoh embraced the young girl, who looked like she didn't expect that, and she glowed a soft gold color and it spread through the damaged garden and it seemed to restore the garden to its once beautiful state, only a little livelier.
“Oh wow!” Mana said. “It's so beautiful!” The light continued towards them and it healed Mana's previous injuries. “Whoa! Master! What's going on?!”
Mahado, who was also healed from the burn mark on his hand, was also baffled. “Balance.”
“Balance?” Kalim asked.
“In this world, there are those who destroy and those who create. Good and evil… light and shadow… A balance between the two…” He looked at the young girl. “And when her emotions become destructive, she, if forgiven, will fix the problem and make it better.”
Mana and the other priests were shocked to hear that. “So… Heba…” Mana said as she saw that the light disappeared as soon as the young king looked at her with a kind smile that she never seen before.
“She has the ability to create, as well as destroy, on her own will.” Shada said, understanding the situation.
“So… What are we going to do now?” Mana asked.
“I'll be giving her private lessons.” Mahado said.
Seth humped. “Really? After what you did to upset her. I don't think even the Pharaoh would allow it.”
“Allow what Seth?” The Pharaoh said as he and Heba came up.
All the priests bowed, and Mana after seeing the others.
“Forgive me,” Mahado said. “if I'd known how sensitive she is-“
“But you didn't know till now.” Heba said. “And to be quite honest, I didn't know how I would react.”
“And I heard you want to give her private lessons.” The Pharaoh said. “And I would gladly permit it.”
“Ph-Pharaoh?” Seth started to say.
“If you question me, Seth, I would have you to do servants work, or better yet you take Mahado's place in teaching Mana.”
Seth looked over at the girl. “I rather have the servants work.”
Heba tried to keep in a giggle as Mana laughed.
“It seems we've come to an agreement to your punishment if you question my decision.”
Seth sighed. “Very well…”
“And Seth… You should know by now that it is I who decides on the fates on others.”
“Yes my lord.” Seth said.
“Now, that we got that settled, I believe you were in a middle of a magic lesson.” The Pharaoh said as he patted the young girls shoulder. He then walked down the halls along with the priests.
After they left, Mana started too chatted lively. “Wow Heba! What did you do to make the Pharaoh like that?!”
“Huh?”
“I've never seen him so happy or so worried! You must have done something!”
“But, I didn't-“
“Mana, I believe it's strictly her business.” Mahado said.
“But I really didn't do anything!”
“Let's continue with the lesson.”
Heba sighed. `Why me?' But she remembered what the Pharaoh told her. `When you run and scrape your knees, what do you do? Stand back up and keep running. So don't let something like this bring you down.' She smiled. `I won't give up and I won't give in, I'll do my best!'
“Hey Heba! Come on!” Mana said as she ran up to the garden.
“Coming!”
~Later: Late afternoon~
The Pharaoh sighed and leaned back into his seat. “Finally got that done.” He said to himself as he put the scroll to the side when a knock was heard.
“Pharaoh! It's me Heba!”
“Come in.” He said as he got up to stretch.
“What do you think?” She said making him look at her. She was wearing a light blue dress with a silver belt and a silver breast plate with some small gems on it, along with silver bracelets and armlets. She turned once, making the young king stare.
“Wow Heba…”
She giggled. “Thanks Pharaoh, the seamstresses were really helpful in teaching me how to sew.”
“Wait, you made that outfit?” He asked.
She giggled. “Yes.” She said as she grabbed his hand and they started to do some kind of random dance.
The young ruler was completely caught off guard when they danced. `She's a pretty good dancer.' He thought as he took the lead.
She laughed as they danced, completely enjoying the dance.
When they stopped they looked at each other. The peaceful moment was interrupted when Siamun knocked on the door. “Pharaoh? Are you done with those scrolls?”
“Yes Siamun, come on in if you like.” The Pharaoh said.
Siamun did come in and looked at Heba. “Well, by the gods!” He said. “I don't believe I've seen a more pretty sight than this.”
She blushed.
“Remember Siamun, you're not as young as you used to be.” The Pharaoh said.
Siamun gave the young ruler a look. “I'm highly aware of that, Great Pharaoh.” He said as the mentioned young man handed him three scrolls.
“You need help Siamun?” Heba asked.
“Oh no dear, I'm fine.” The elder said. “Besides, you and the Pharaoh should do something together for the remainder of the day. You two didn't have much time to hang out.”
The Pharaoh looked a bit uneasy about it. “But-“
“None of that young man, you've been busy all day. If you push yourself you'll get yourself sick.”
The Pharaoh was about to make a counter argument when Heba spoke.
“I wouldn't mind taking a nice walk around the palace. There's still so much that I didn't see.”
“How come?” Siamun asked.
“When Mana was giving the tour, most of the guards would say that only the Pharaoh or the priests shall enter through. So I didn't see the whole palace.”
“There's something for you two to do.” Siamun said as he walked out of the room before any argument was made.
There was silence in the room as the two looked at each other until the young king spoke. “So… What part of the palace didn't you see?”
“You don't have to give me the tour if you don't want to.” Heba said.
“No, no its not that I don't want to, it's… ah…?” He said. `Shit! What's wrong with me?!'
“You're not used to be a host?” Heba said.
“Well…”
She smiled. “That's okay, it is kinda awkward.”
He smiled. “Yes, it is.”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For helping me today, I didn't get the chance to tell you earlier.”
“You're welcome.” He said as a blush appeared.
“So, would you like to go for a walk, or play a game…?”
He thought about it for a moment. “Would you like to learn a little bit of summoning kas?”
“Summoning kas?”
He nodded. “Come with me, I know a perfect place to practice.” He held out his hand, which she accepted.
They arrived in an empty spacious room.
“Where are we?” Heba asked.
“Just an empty room.” The Pharaoh answered. “Now, let's see how well you can summon. Observe…” He did so by summoning a Kuriboh, a small, fuzzy brown monster with huge purple and yellow eyes and green hands and feet.
“Oh how cute!” She said as the cute monster cheerfully bounced around her. “He's so sweet.” The monster started to playfully nuzzle her face.
He smiled at the site. “Now you try Heba.”
“Huh? Are you sure?”
“Don't worry, I'm right here.”
She closed her eyes.
“Now focus on the kas energy.”
“Anyone of them?”
“One that would accept you.”
She nodded as she took a few deep breaths and focused on a monster's energy. When one accepted her, she opened her eyes and saw a soft pink, puffy monster with antennas that were puffy at the end and had huge blue eyes.
“A Watapon.” The young ruler said.
The monster looked curiously around its surrounding then at the girl.
“Hello.” She said as the puffy monster floated around her and started to play with Kuriboh.
“You seem to handle the summoning well.”
“How long did it take you to handle summoning?”
“Months.”
“Seriously?!” She said completely shocked.
“Don't look so surprised Heba.” He said. “You may have been a pretty good sorceress before you lost your memory.”
“I doubt it.”
“How come?”
“I may not have my memory, but I can be sure that I don't know anything about magic up till now.” She said as she looked drozy and started to fall, which the young man caught in time.
“Heba!”
“I'm sorry Pharaoh, I guess a whole days worth of magic using is taxing.”
He smiled. “For a beginner yes.”
She stood up, only to have her legs wobble.
He noticed this and picked her up bridal style.
“I-I could walk Pharaoh!” She said, blushing. “You don't have to do this.”
He chuckled. “True, but the thing is, is that I want to.” He said with a smile. “And call me Atem from now on.” He started to walk out of the room.
“Atem?” She said. “That's a wonderful name.” She started to fall asleep.
He walked down the halls when he heard someone call him.
“There you are Great Pharaoh!” Mahado said as he walked up. “Where have you been? All of us were worried sick.”
“Sorry about that, I was teaching her some summoning lessons.”
“Summoning? But she hasn't learned the advanced levels yet and still needs to control the channels of the magic flow so she wouldn't loose control.”
“I'm aware of that, but she did fine summoning a ka just moments ago.”
“She…” He looked at the now sleeping girl.
“Yes, she summoned a Watapon not long ago.”
Mahado sighed. “She's so much like me five years ago.”
“That's why I trust you when you give her private lessons, both of you have something in common.” The Pharaoh said.
Mahado sighed again. “Very true, but Mana is also a student…”
“I'm sure she'll understand, and besides, Heba is a fast learner.” The young king said as they walked down the halls, unaware of the stirring energy that has suddenly appeared within the young girl.

Feeling sad and lonely
Cause I can't find you
Call your telephone
Ad there's never no answer
Said you love me
Kissed me
We were in heaven
Said I'm sorry
Love you, want you forever
Every night I look at the sky
Call your name
And wonder where you are
Every night I look at the sky
Baby, miss you
Won't you come back
