Chapter 15

A rush of fear and confusion rushed over Seto. Lying in his bed early that morning, he had absolutely no idea were he was. With half the covers thrown over his face, and wrapped around his feet, Seto struggle to kick them off and pull himself up. Maybe that's why most of the rooms were such a mess. Seto tossed the flannel cover to the floor, and his eyes shot a glance around the new space he was in.

He was there, in the orphanage.

Hot and sweaty, Seto lay back down on his back, partly embarrassed that he had made such a big deal over that. He just hoped that no one had seen him.

`If anyone asks, I had a bad dream, I saw Sota shoot his head off again' Seto told himself. The perfect lie.

He looked out the window near the end of the room. It was terribly foggy, and the sun may or may not have come up, but Seto could not tell. He lay in his small bed for a few moments, his eyes shut tight, hoping he could get some sleep. He felt as if he were about to drift off again, when someone came and slammed what sounded like a pot against the door, then pushed past the rickety old spring's, just barley holding onto the door, and shot the door open.

"C'mon fellas!! Rise and shine!!" Ms. Shinto said, slamming a pot against the wall.

Many moans came from some of the others boys who had just been rudely awaken. They all pulled themselves out from their beds. Seto watched as a boy reached under his bed and pulled a sweater and a pair of pants out from his suitcase, Seto did the same. He laid his orange sweater on his bed, and pulled out a pair of track pants, it was a bit embarrassing to dress in front of all the boys, but Seto threw his clothes on quickly.

In the bed next to him was Trent, still all curled up in his bed. His blanket was covering a small spot around his waist, and his pillow over his head, trying to block out the banging of Ms. Shinto's pot down the halls.

"C'mon Trent, wake up" Seto order.

"Ah…it's too early" Trent moaned, taking the pillow off of his head.

"Hey, get up."

Trent rolled off to his side, falling flat on the floor. Seto took a few steps back and helped Trent get up.

"You're not a morning person are you?" Seto laughed, sitting down on his bed, pulling on his socks.

"Not the least bit," Trent moaned, reaching under the dusty bed to pull out sweater and pants from the open suitcase collecting dust. Some of the other boys had already left and probably gone done for breakfast, but Seto waited for Trent to finish pulling on his clothes. As Trent began to pull on his socks and shoes, Seto had begun walking to the door. He stopped, waiting for Trent to catch up.

Both boys walked down together. The stopped at a room with a few tables, were all the children, young and old, gathered around, pushing past each other to get a seat, or to even get a tray just to put their food on. Seto and Trent grabbed the last to trays, but couldn't get any seats, so they took a spot on the cold floor.

As they picked at their food, Seto looked around for his brother, until he saw a few small children, one with long raven black hair walk in. Seto knew it was Mokuba and held his arm up to show Mokuba were he was. Mokuba quickly ran over to his onii-chan and gave him a huge hug. Mokuba didn't get anything to eat, so he picked off of Seto's food. Seto didn't mind, he wasn't that hungry anyway.

Trent pushed the empty tray away from himself and rested his head back. A small bell rang, making Trent jump up to his feet.

"What's that?" Seto asked.

"The bell for class, theres nuns who are teaching us, just so you know, and they get all pissed-off if you're late," Trent explained. Seto said good-bye to his little brother as both boys walked to their classes.

The classroom was small; it was pretty dark except for the small light hanging above the large table where some boys and a few girls were sitting. A short, round nun was standing above them with a teaching stick in her hand. Seto and Trent made their way to seats quietly.

It was strange for Seto to be taught by a nun instead of a teacher. He had been baptized and all that, by Sota wasn't very religious and Seto wasn't sure if his mother was or wasn't religious. The day went by long, the nun had spoken fast, and with barley no light in the room, it was harder for Seto to look at his work. Trent was asking Seto questions about their homework, and guilt filled Seto when he rembered that it was him who had told Mokuba that they'd be able to spend time together during the day, but now he couldn't.

Finally at 3:15 pm, the nun dismissed all of her students. They all had been assigned homework for that day also. Seto and Trent left their stuff in their room, and Trent stuck his head out the window to inspect the weather. It was a cloudy, cold day; they couldn't go outside to play.

`So….I guess were stuck just doing are homework, eh?" Seto suggested

"Or, we could go down to another classroom and play with some of the games done there" Trent suggested.

Seto agreed with Trent suggestion and both boys made their way to the grade 8 classroom. It was a much prettier class room, they had florescent lights, and the desks and tables were in better shape. Seto looked out the window as Trent was pulling out chess bored, and, there outside, sitting all by himself on the pavement was Mokuba. Seto quickly rushed out side to get his brother.

He brought Mokuba into the classroom, and seeing had a few things set up, Seto and Trent teamed up to try to teach Mokuba how to play chess. It turns out Mokuba was really good for a little kid his age! He understood the game, and could rembered each chess pieces moves.

"You're a fast learner Mokuba; it took me forever to learn how to play chess," Trent complimented.

The boys didn't here foot steps coming towards them until the door slide open and Ms. Shinto shooed them back to their rooms.

This time, Seto brought Mokuba with him. Mokuba sat on Seto's bed as Seto and Trent tried to figure out their homework assignments. Seto, being a genius, understood his homework, and when he was done, he helped Trent and few other boys with their homework.

By the time when the sun went down, Seto found Mokuba curled up on Seto's bed, fast asleep. So quickly, without waking Mokuba, Seto carried Mokuba back to his small room, and tucked him into bed.
