Osiris, Take Me Now

Ryou returned home expecting to see Bakura and Marik healthy. Something told him not to trust Yami's chant. How could he bring himself to believe Yami after all he's ever done to Bakura?

Ryou returned home and found Bakura outside with Marik. They were sitting on the front lawn with a black pillar candle between them. Marik was holding Bakura's wrist, trying to guide him.

"What are you doing, Marik?"

"Helping Bakura make his candle."

Ryou saw the writing on the candle was similar to Yami's candle.

Marik looked up at Ryou, his purple eyes had changed color to a lighter purple. "So, what about the pharaoh?"

"He's dead. His body turned into a mummy."

Marik's left eye twitched and he squinted, trying to focus on Ryou. He was having a difficult time keeping his eye on Ryou, even though he was standing still and right next to him.

"Good riddance," Marik seethed bitterly.

Bakura squinted along with Marik. "Can't see…."

Marik held the candle closer to Bakura's eyes. "He's having a hard time seeing, Ryou. The sun is so Ra-damned bright! Can't say that I blame him. That's it! Sunlight, be gone!"

A thick layer of clouds suddenly appeared in the sky, covering the entire city.

"That's better," Marik said, giving the Millennium Rod a tiny kiss.

Ryou shifted uncomfortably. "What do you need the black candle for?"

Marik blinked and gave a tired yawn. He had been up early with Aten that morning and had little sleep himself. "We write prayers on it from the Book of the Dead. Upon death, the candle is lit. It must not be extinguished. The candle must burn itself out. If it is extinguished before it burns itself out, our spirit cannot reach the Underworld."

"Do you honestly think that Bakura is going to die?"

Marik looked over at the squinting yami, his entire body trembling as he struggled to write. Bakura began rocking himself back and forth, mumbling incoherently.

Marik looked up and saw Ryou biting his lip.

Ryou sniffled. "Bakura? Baby, what are you doing?"

"Hei….Hei-o…jiff-rics," Bakura stuttered.

Ryou covered his mouth…..Bakura had worsened.

Ryou ran into the house and up the stairs, inadvertently knocking Malik down as he was sweeping.

Ryou ran into his room and collapsed on his bed, burying his face in his pillow sobbing.

Malik walked into the room. "Ryou?"

Ryou turned his head and reached out a hand for Malik. Malik put the broom down and sat by Ryou.

"You saw Bakura, didn't you?"

Ryou broke down into hysterical crying. "Bakura's going to die, Malik! He is, isn't he?"

Malik swayed as a wave of dizziness surrounded him.

Ryou held Malik up. "What's wrong?"

Malik grabbed onto Ryou, holding him tightly. "I gave Marik some of my lifeforce this morning. I'm just a little dizzy."

Ryou raised an eyebrow. "You were able to do that?"

"It took a lot of energy."

"Malik, I don't want Bakura to die on me."

Malik held Ryou closer, his bottom lip trembling. "I know, Ryou. I don't want Marik to die on me, either. When we woke up this morning, Marik was blind. When I gave him some of my energy, he was able to see. I'm still searching through all the literature I can on Ancient Egyptian curses and spells. It could take me another two lifetimes just to find the book that I need! But I don't have two lifetimes!"

Ryou clutched onto Malik. "We have to find something! Maybe Seto has a book we can borrow. He has tons of books in his library!"

"Well, he was the High Priest. Maybe we can find something there."

Ryou sighed. "Seto has a little problem on his hands. Alex and Donny were hurt by Yami. Donny isn't doing too well, apparently."

Malik shook his head sadly. "Do you think Seto's going to hold his company picnic or do you think he'll postpone it?"

Ryou shrugged. "He won't hold the party with two of his best men in the hospital…especially Alex and Donny."

Malik sighed. "I'll have to go to Seto's place and look through his library. I can't do it today. I'm so tired."

Ryou sniffled. "It's okay. The library will still be there tomorrow."

Malik looked up at Ryou. "What happened with Yami?"

"Yami's dead. I watched his body turn into a mummy. His body decomposed in front of our eyes. Before he died, he chanted something I couldn't understand. He said that Bakura and Marik had changed. Bakura has worsened. Marik doesn't seem to have changed."

Malik sniffled. "I've looked through dozens of scrolls in the museum and books in the library. Since my sister used to work there, I have special privileges. I can't believe I still can't find anything!"

Ryou sighed. Yami had lied to him. Bakura was not better. It was up to him to help his yami feel better…it was going to take a sacrifice, but he was willing to make it.

**************************

Ryou helped Bakura climbed the stairs as he heard the water drain from the tub. He heard Aria singing as she was climbing out of the bathtub.

Ryou chuckled at the sound of Aria's singing. Even at eight years old, Aria had a beautiful singing voice.

He put Bakura on the bed and peeked his head out of the bedroom to see Aria skipping happily naked to her bedroom. Her wet spiky hair flopped around carelessly as she skipped.

Ryou returned to Bakura. "Time to get you into the bath, yami."

Bakura lifted two shaky hands to his top button. His body rocked as he struggled with the button. He grabbed the button and tugged, trying to free it from the button hole.

"Do you need help, Bakura? Let me show you."

Ryou slowly showed Bakura how to unfasten a button. "See? It's easy. Do you want to do one?"

Bakura's body continued to rock and he couldn't grab onto the button long enough to slip the button out of the hole. Bakura's head hung low and Ryou heard a sob come out of him.

"Bakura?" Ryou whispered sadly. "What's wrong, angel?"

Bakura's body jerked. His husband saw it wasn't a spasm…..

Bakura was sobbing quietly.

Ryou kneeled down and cupped Bakura's face in his hands. "Baby?"

"I…c-c-c-can't unfas---unfass….I c-can't…," Bakura stuttered. "I can't do it…."

Ryou saw a tear slip slowly down the red face. He brought his yami into his arms and held his sobbing yami against his chest. Bakura rocked himself in Ryou's arms.

"I just want to die…..please, Osiris……mercy, please….no more."

Ryou clenched his eyes shut, listening to Bakura's quiet moans of pain. "Baby, I know you're upset."

"Ryou," Bakura moaned unintelligibly.

Bakura's speech was becoming slurred and quickly deteriorating. Everything Bakura was saying was becoming more slurred and difficult to understand.

"Baby, let me get you undressed and then we can get you into the tub."

Bakura sobbed as his hikari undressed him. He walked to the bathroom with his hikari.

Ryou filled the bathtub full of warm water and some Rose Oil to help the water smell good. Bakura sat in the tub, his body convulsing, making the water shift.

"Ryou……." Bakura gripped onto Ryou, soaking his hikari's shirt with Rose Oil water. Bakura's entire body went into convulsions, the water splashing around him. "I---I---I'm s-s-sorry…."

Bakura looked up at Ryou's face. "It hurts so much," Bakura whimpered.

Ryou held his yami, stroking the yami's gray hair and wrinkled face.

Dr. Zira had taken a scan of Bakura's brain the week before. The scan revealed that Bakura's brain was in a state of decay. The decay had nearly disintegrated the memory region of Bakura's brain. When the scan had been performed, Bakura's language and sight regions were just becoming affected. Now, one week later, Bakura could barely be understood and his eyesight was failing him. The only part of Bakura's brain not decaying kept his simulated heart beating.

Bakura's nervous system was in a very slow state of collapse, making his convulsions last longer.

When the shuddering stopped, Bakura leaned back in the tub. Ryou soaked Bakura's hair with a cup, letting the water trickle down Bakura's body. Ryou covered his hands in shampoo and washed his yami's hair.

The yami managed a little smile as Ryou scratched his scalp and massaged his scalp. It felt good. He took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet delicate scent of the oil.

Ryou put some conditioner into the hair and could swear he heard his yami purr.

Bakura opened his eyes slowly and looked up at his hikari. "So tired….."

"I know, yami. I'll get you cleaned and dressed and then you can lay down for a while."

Ryou lathered soap in a washcloth and ran the soapy cloth over Bakura's thin body. Bakura reached up a hand slowly and stroked Ryou's cheek. "Rayna….."

Ryou continued to wash his yami, who was looking up at him teary-eyed.

"What are you doing in my oasis, my love?"

Ryou sniffled. "Washing you down, silly."
Bakura reached up with both hands and cupped Ryou's face in his hands. "My angel Rayna…."

Bakura's hands trembled as he brought Ryou's face down slowly. The couple closed their eyes as their lips met gently. Ryou's heart leaped into his throat as Ryou felt his yami's lips press onto his. It was the first time in months that Bakura had kissed him like this.

But, it was an illusion.

Bakura thought it was Rayna he was kissing….not him.

Ryou dropped the washcloth in the tub and it slapped onto the surface of the water. Ryou's hand caressed Bakura's jaw and slid down to Bakura's chest. A little choked sob came from his throat as he felt his yami kiss down his neck, peppering kisses along his skin.

Ryou's hand drifted lower to Bakura's stomach, caressing his yami's skin. Since Bakura had become seriously ill, Ryou and Bakura had not made love.

It was killing Ryou that Bakura wouldn't touch him. It was frustrating. Bakura never made any advances towards Ryou.

Ryou wanted this. Badly. He wanted to make love to Bakura.

But, Bakura couldn't remember his name.

Bakura squirmed under Ryou's touch. As Ryou's hand glided towards his length, Bakura shifted his hips to entice Ryou to touch him.

"Please, baby," Bakura begged.

Ryou's hand slid down and touched Bakura. Ryou leaned into Bakura, letting the yami kiss and suck on his neck. Tears ran down Ryou's face as he touched his yami like this for the first time in months.

Ryou touched Bakura gently, careful not to hurt his yami or scare him.

Bakura let out a moan as Ryou's gentle hands massaged his soft flesh.

Bakura's hand reached up and rubbed against Ryou's shirt.

"Rayna, my love."

Ryou removed his hand slowly and continued to wash Bakura. This was wrong. He didn't want to take Bakura while he was in a hallucination.

"Rayna?"

"Bakura, let me finish washing you. Then we'll get you into bed."

Bakura relaxed in the tub as Ryou finished washing him.

Ryou helped Bakura out of the tub and handed him a towel. "Can you dry your hair?"

Ryou watched relieved as Bakura dried his hair with weak hands. Ryou was grateful that Bakura could at least wash his hair.

"You stay here, Bakura. I have to tuck the children into bed."

Ryou left and within minutes Aria's happy squeal could be heard coming down the hallway. "SQUEE! DADDY!" Aria burst through the door in her lacy pink nightgown, her batwings braided and tied with pink ribbons.

Aria kissed her father's cheek. "Goodnight, daddy. I hope you aren't sick tomorrow. I love you, daddy."

Bakura pat the child on the head. "Goodnight, Andrea."

Aria chuckled. "Silly daddy….my name is Aria!"

"Goodnight, Andrea."

The chibi ran out of the room in her gown, her braided hair in ribbons flapping around her.

Aten stepped into the bathroom timidly. "Hello, Daddy Bakura. Goodnight." Aten reached up and kissed Bakura on both cheeks. "I hope the bad dreams don't find you tonight. I drew a peshel pisher to teep my grandfather from finding me. You want to see?" Aten ran from the room and returned with a piece of paper. 'GOE AWAY!' was written on the paper with red marker. "If my grandfather sees this, he'll thint to himself…'Oh no, I have to go away now!' and he will! I'm a genus! I hope dis worts. I no sleep in days. Well. Goodnight, Daddy Bakura. I love you."

Bakura watched the little boy in purple boxers walk away slowly. Ryou returned and helped Bakura into his bedroom.

He sat Bakura on the bed and kneeled behind him as he brushed the spiky gray locks.

He sighed as he thought about what he was about to do. Ryou needed Bakura back. It may tax his bad heart and his pacemaker may be irreparably damaged, but he couldn't live without Bakura anymore.

He was frustrated. Stressed. Even though Malik was there, Ryou was still the primary caregiver.

Something had to happen soon that would point him to the cure for the Yami Virus.

Malik was searching for the cure, leaving Ryou to care for two children, two sick yamis, and trying to keep his sanity.

It was a lot to handle on his own.

It may hurt, but he needed Bakura. He needed the emotional support that only his yami could provide.

He finished brushing Bakura's hair and stood in front of Bakura.

"Yami? Bakura, lay down, angel."

Ryou laid Bakura on his back and Ryou kneeled beside him on the bed. The yami closed his eyes.

He gripped the Millennium Ring around his neck and closed his eyes.

"I'm not sure how to do this, Bakura, but I'm going to try to give you some of my energy. It may hurt, but I'm willing to do anything so you can remember me."

Ryou put one hand on his Item and one hand on Bakura's forehead. "Ring, drain my energy to rejuvenate my yami's essence. Transfer some of my lifeforce into the Spirit of the Millennium Ring."

A bright light emanated from Ryou's hand and filled the room.

Ryou's face contorted as he surrendered some of his life to Bakura.

Malik was right.

It hurt.

No wonder Malik had been so weak the past few days!

Ryou's hand trembled with the searing pain flowing through his chest. "Sweet……gods!"

He felt every year of his life being ripped away the longer he kept his hand on Bakura's forehead.

Bakura's eyes opened and he grabbed Ryou's wrist and yanked it away.

The light faded in the room. Ryou fell sideways on the bed, trembling.

Bakura kneeled beside his hikari. "Ryou! Ryou, baby! If you gave any more energy to me, you'd be dead!"

Ryou looked up weakly at Bakura and smiled. "You…..you said my name," Ryou whispered as he fell unconscious in Bakura's arms.

Bakura cradled Ryou in his arms as he gripped the Millennium Ring with one hand. Bakura could feel the lifeforce left in Ryou's soulroom.

Ryou had cut his life in half to bring Bakura back to his sanity.

Bakura held Ryou against him. "Ryou! Oh gods, baby…….why did you have to sacrifice yourself for me? I'm not worth it, baby!" Bakura sniffled. "Ryou, open your eyes, angel…please?"

Ryou laid limp in his yami's arms, his breathing short and shallow.

Bakura rocked his unconscious husband, letting his lover's sacrifice roam through his mind. "You cut your life in half, Ryou. Nobody has ever given their life for me before."

Bakura's fingers fisted into Ryou's hair. "Sweet Isis, I love you so much, Ryou!"

Bakura held Ryou in his arms, rocking him slowly and singing to him.

*********************

Malik slipped into bed beside his yami. Marik shifted closer to him, pressing himself against his hikari's body.

Malik kissed Marik. "Goodnight, baby."

He was shocked to find his hikari came to bed with boxers and that he had turned over on his side facing away from him.

"What's this?" Marik asked, snapping the elastic of the boxers.

Malik jumped. "I knew you weren't feeling well and I know you need your rest."

Marik sat up and pulled Malik onto his back. Before Malik could blink, his yami was on top of him and settling between his legs. "There's only one thing I need, little Malik."

Marik leaned down and kissed Malik deeply. Malik grabbed Marik's shoulders, trying to push his yami off of him. He squirmed under Marik. Marik's hand rose and gripped Malik's neck. "What are you fighting me for?"

"Marik, you're not feeling well. I want you to rest."

Marik's left eye twitched. "Why do you think I'm not feeling well?"

Malik shifted, feeling his yami press his weight on him. "You were weak downstairs."

Marik grinned, his canines sharpening. "I'm not tired now….Are you denying me, Malik?"

Malik shook his head. His yami's eyes had regained their dark luster from earlier days.

'But…Yami said that Marik changed! Why is he like this now?' Malik thought. 'I gave him some more of my lifeforce this morning!'

Marik kept a hand on Malik as the hikari felt his boxers being pulled down. Malik shuddered as the air hit his exposed skin.

Marik climbed on top of Malik and looked down at his hikari, his hand tightening around his throat.

Malik froze.

"Time to make love to you, Malik….the way it used to be."

**************************

Marik collapsed, panting heavily on his hikari. Malik's eyes were wide as he stared at the ceiling. He closed his eyes as he felt the familiar tide crash into him again.

Malik's body shuddered as the hand around his throat moved to his chest.

Marik looked down at his hikari and grinned. "Time for me to take what I need!" Malik arched his back and beat down a scream as Marik stole some of Malik's lifeforce.

The dark light that surrounded Marik's hand faded and Malik clenched his eyes shut as he felt liquid around his legs.

Marik crawled off of him and laid beside his hikari. "Goodnight."

Within minutes, Marik was snoring.

Malik looked over at his yami. 'Marik has never stole my lifeforce before. He….He…he took me without asking me! That hasn't happened in a long time.'

Malik felt the room spin from his yami draining him. Malik rolled over on his side, his mind racing with what had just happened.
