It was halfway through the lesson, and Joey Wheeler had fallen asleep. This was something Seto Kaiba was used to. He had also grown accustomed to the constant fidgeting. He had to accept it was one of Joey's mannerisms and it wasn't going to change. As it neared the end of the lesson, Kaiba felt obliged to wake Joey up so that he wouldn't miss any test announcements.

He jabbed him hard, under his arm at his ribs.

“What did you do that for?!” Joey whispered, angrily as he rubbed the area Kaiba had just poked.
“I was waking you up, Wheeler. We have a test tomorrow.” Kaiba whispered back, packing up his laptop, preparing the move to third lesson, where he would yet again have to endure Joey Wheeler annoying him.
“Oh…thanks. Sorry…for..err…” Joey started, before blushing slightly and turning away.
Why was he saying sorry? Apologising to his biggest rival, he thought, what's going on?
“You're quite welcome. And no need to apologise. I only did it because I don't want to end up tutoring you.” Kaiba smirked as he picked up his laptop, placed it in his silver briefcase and waited for Joey to move so he could leave his seat.
It was only then that Joey realised the bell was ringing.
“Yeah, well I knew there couldn't be any good intentions there.” Joey said blankly, as he scooped his books up into a messy pile and left the classroom heading for his locker.
It was there that he bumped into Yugi.
“Hey Joey. How's the `keeping it cool' thing going?” He asked, looking up at Joey expectantly.
“The plan is being executed with pleasing results.” Joey said, in his best attempt at a Kaiba impression.
“Oh, Joey, you shouldn't do that, it's mean!” Yugi laughed, teasing his best friend.
“Mean it may be, but it's so freakin' funny. Just they way he speaks, phrases everything. Cracks me up everytime!” Joey said, grinning madly.
“Yes you are right. I suppose when you're as powerful as him, everything should be business-like though, and once you're under it, you can't break the habit. Well I have to be off, got third lesson to get to, and so have you! Yami would kill me if I was late, or shove me in the Shadow Realm or something.” Yugi said, thinking about this as he left Joey, giving a small wave.

Joey stood there, finding the right books and shut is locker when someone barged into him. He was already late and the corridors had already emptied. There was noone there but himself and Seto Kaiba.

“Hey, watch it Kaiba.” He said, overtaking him as if in some kind of race to third lesson.
But Kaiba didn't appear to listen, he seemed oddly distracted.
But all the time he was distracted, he couldn't make little digs at Joey, he thought. This thought comforted Joey as he strode way ahead of Kaiba and into the classroom, apologising and taking his seat. Kaiba wasn't there and still, near the end, he hadn't showed up. This left Joey worried. He hated the guy, but something odd must've been going on for Kaiba to skip class.
Next hour was lunch, but instead of meeting up with Yugi, Téa and Tristan, he decided to find out what was going on. If for nothing else but gossip.
