Chapter 4: penalty game!
Shojiki was out of the car before it stopped, racing inside, Seto at her 6-inch heels. He briefly wondered how she could run faster than him in such high shoes.
Such thoughts were driven from his mind when they entered the theater.
Yamira was on stage, a Marik-like insane grin on her features as her Dark Pharaoh attacked Atemu's Dark Magician, effectively dropping Atemu's life point down to 500. Atemu, for once, looked nervous. He didn't know WHAT Yamira might do if she won and from that grin on her face, he didn't want to know.
“Oh that's too bad big brother, now your favorite monster is gone and the only thing you have to defend against my darling Pharaoh is an oversized Link 1. Whatever are you to do?”
“He's gunna kick your ass, you evil bitch!!”
Yamira's head turned sharply to look at the loud intruder. Her lips curled into a smirk upon seeing the new arrivals.
“Oh Princess Shojiki, Priest Seto. How nice of you to join us.”
“I'm not a priest!”
“I'M NOT A PRINCESS!!…Anymore.”
Yamira laughed as Seto shot Shojiki a confused looked. What the hell did she mean `anymore'?
“Oh this is fun, the whole past group is here. Tearrah, Atemu, you, Seto, oh, this is a better reunion than I imagined. I owe Malik-kun a lot for this one.” She said, wiping the tears of laughter from her eyes.
“What does Malik have to do with this Yamira…and who is Tearrah?” Atemu asked, drawing his next card.
“Oh Malik is the one who made all of this happen and as for Tearrah…she's the past incarnation of your little girlfriend over there. In any case, let's save those little details for after our duel. It's your move, big brother.” Yamira said haughtily, her arms folding across her chest.
Atemu looked at his cards. It wasn't a bad hand, he had kuribou, multiply, Gaia the fierce knight, reverse of reverse and mirror force. With these in his hand, he could turn the duel around.
“Alright I place 2 cards face down and play kuribou in defense mode and switch my Celtic guardian into defense mode as well. And with that, I end my turn.”
“Ha! I se your move Atemu and your little kuribou/multiply combo isn't going to work! I attack your Celtic guardian and in turn win the duel!” Yamir shrieks.
“You fall for the oldest trick in the book, Yamira. I play the trap card, mirror force, and your Pharaoh obliterates himself with his own attack. Since his attack is 4000 and you only have 3100, you lose!”
“NOOO!!”
In almost a slow motion, the dark Pharaoh strikes the mirror force and is instantly shattered to pieces. Yamira falls to her knees as her life points drop to zero.
“Yeeeeaaa!!” Shojiki and Tea cheer jumping up and down, hugging each other. A smile almost comes to Seto's face. Atemu walks over to Yamira and kneels down in front of her.
“Hey, that was a good duel. I'm sorry, I'm not your older brother but I'm sure you'll find him some day,” he reassures her, smiling slightly.
“No…this was not supposed to happen…”she murmurs quietly.
“Huh?”
“You are supposed to LOVE ME!!” a powerful blast of aura knocks Atemu back. Yamira rises to her feet, her silver millennium puzzle flashing.
“If you won't love me back damn you, I will make you unable to love anyone else!!” she stretches out her hand and a dark gas cloud hisses out and engulfs Atemu. With a maniacal laugh, Yamira makes her escape.
“No! Atemu!” Tea runs onstage to help him when a voice stops her.
“Don't go in there!!”
The trio turns and sees Malik running down the isle. He stops at the edge of the stage panting.
“Damn…I missed her…” he gasps out.
“you're Malik right?” Shojiki asked the exhausted Egyptian boy.
“mm-hmm. Yea, and unfortunately and fortunately Yamira's boy-Whoa!” he shouted as he was jacked up by Seto.
“you better tell me what is going on Ishtar and you better tell me now dammit,” Seto all but growled at him. Tea stared at him blinking. What was Kaiba getting all mad for?
“if you put me down, I can tell you. I'm afraid of heights you know.” He gasped out.
Seto put him down and once Malik caught his breath, he pointed at the black cloud that had now shaped into a dome.
“that thing is the Tempus Alternia. It is like the Shadow realm but in a more active form. You stay in there for an hour or two and you are all ready for the insane asylum. It makes you re-live your worst memories in dramatic HD but it also makes new ones that are more terrifying.” He explained, gesturing as he went.
“so how are we supposed to get him out of there before it's too late?” Tea asked worriedly.
“either a, Yamira comes back and makes it disappear which is highly unlikely, or b, once an hour is up, it will disappear on it's own.”
“but that will be too late!” Seto and Tea yelled at him in unison. Malik staggered a bit. Damn, those two were LOUD.
“I'll go get him.”
Before any of them could blink, a silver blur darted pass them and into the dome. Shojiki ginned.
“took you long enough, Savira.”
--
Savira walked through the interior of the alternate dimension, her eyes quickly adjusting to the dim light.
“Atemu?” she called, hoping that it wasn't too late to save him. All she got in response was a weak moan. Using that as her guide, she followed the sound until she came upon her target.
Atemu was hanging by his wrists, dark tentacles wrapped around his body, the points beginning to penetrate his skin, particularly near his brain. His eyes were closed, a steady stream of tears going down his face as he struggled weakly against his binds.
“shit…” Savira cursed quietly, summoning her sword. She hadn't used it in a while but it takes more than a couple thousand years to make her forget her training. With a few practice swings, she readied herself to attack.
“Savira…”
she stopped when her name slipped from his lips. Looking at his face, she saw it begin to twist in pain.
“Savira…please…d-don't leave me…”
Savira stared at him in shock. How did he remember that? She was sure that she had permanently erased it from his memory, never to be recalled again. But from the way he looked, it was there and causing him as much misery as it did back then.
Shaking her head, she raised her sword once more. The only way to save him is to cut him free. But she couldn't help but see his face, the face he had when she rejected. With a cry, she brought the sword down, and with a clean swipe, she cut the binds that held him and caught him before he hit the ground.
“Atemu? C'mon, wake up,” she said quietly, gently slapping him on the face. His eyes fluttered before opening, their Violet depths unfocused. Upon seeing her face, he smiled softly, making her heart pound in her chest.
“hey, you came back…”
Savira bit he bottom lip to keep the tears back before replying:
“yea…just like I promised…”
--
“what the hell is taking her so long?!” Seto growled, pacing impatiently back and forth in front of the stage. Tea was standing nervously by the stairs, watching him while Malik and Shojiki sat in the front row seats.
“why are you so concerned Kaiba? You're almost acting like you like him or something.” Malik droned in a bored tone.
Seto stopped pacing momentarily. Without even knowing it, Shojiki and Malik raised an eyebrow at the same time.
“you should know that…that if something were to happen to him, I would be able to reclaim my title.” He said without turning, then after a beat, continuing to pace.
“oh,” Malik replied, his curiosity satisfied while Shojiki let out a small snort that could have been interpreted as one of annoyance of his childish grudge but Seto knew that it was one of disbelief.
`oh Seto, how long are you gunna keep up this charade? You're only hurting yourself…and me…' she thought, a sad sigh slipping from her lips.
“hey, what's that?” Tea asked, pointing at the dome, where a figure was starting to emerge. Seto stopped pacing once more and Shojiki and Malik stood.
“could things from in there come out here?” Shojiki questioned nervously.
“nope. Then that must mean one thing…” Malik answered, watching as the figures grew clearer
“Atemu!”
Atemu smiled weakly at her as she ran over. Savira shifted slightly so that the taller girl could take him from his current position of leaning onto her shoulder. Tea helped him into one of the seats and sat beside him, checking him over.
“Tea…I'm fine. It's okay.” He reassured her though muffled slightly when she hugged him upon finishing her check.
“I was so worried, I thought something terrible happened!” she sobbed, holding him tighter. He hugged her back, kissing her on the forehead.
“I got rough for a moment…but I'm okay, I promise.”
--
“so Yamira really is your twin sister?”
“yes. That tempus Alternia thing jolted my memory and I remember her. We were twins but I didn't get to see her as much because father was raising me to become Pharaoh. That all changed when we turned 15. Mother got the oh-so-excellent idea that we marry.” Atemu explained, his eyes rolling as he thought of it. They were in Kaiba's limo back to the Kame game shop so Atemu could get some rest.
“MARRY?!” Tea shrieked. Shojiki snickered while Savira rolled her eyes. Somehow, the silver-haired girl managed to catch a ride as well though her reasons were less obvious than Atemu's
“you have to remember, Tea, that back during that time, it was common for royalty to inter-marry to keep the bloodline pure so that say, if Atemu had married a girl outside the family, there would be less threat of her family taking over. It's a way to control power,” Shojiki elucidated.
“I get it, so it was like an arranged marriage?”
“yes, but for some reason in Yamira's eyes, it was so much more. She was seriously in love with me.” Atemu said, staring out the window as the memories flashed in his mind.
“I see. But who was that girl she was talking about, Tearrah?”
“that was Atemu's second wife.” Shojiki answered with a smirk.
“wha-?”
“she was the princess of Nubia and my first love. She looked just like you but was older with longer hair,” Atemu sighed. He glanced at Tea and smiled. “but in my opinion, you're cuter.”
As Tea blushed, Seto scowled.
“I seriously don't need to hear your flirting techniques you know.”
“maybe you should, just to take notes. If you flirt like you duel, I'm surprised that you were even able to get Shojiki.” He taunted his rival. Just before Seto could retort, Shojiki cut in.
“actually, he does flirt like he duels: forceful and demanding. I'm only here cuz I'm the only one he'd allow to give him a make over.” She said smartly.
As Atemu and Tea laughed, Seto attempted to defend himself and his flirting techniques. Savira watched this from her seat, a small smile on her lips.
Once they arrived at the shop and Atemu got out of the limo, ducking back in to give Tea a quick smooch on the lips, Seto's heart wasn't the only one breaking.

1- when Yamira said `link' she meant Link, the hero of the legend of Zelda video games. Seriously, if you think of it, Celtic guardian is a large version of link. :D
OMAKE CLUB
Mitzumi: finished!! This one almost didn't get complete in time. There was a severe thunderstorm by my house so I had to shut off the power.
Shojiki: not too bad Mitzumi, are all of your chapters going to be this long?
Mitzumi: shrug maybe, maybe not. But I can assure that they will at least be 3 pages or longer. My goal is that by the end of this story that each chapter will be 9 to 10 pages long.
Shojiki: hey, weren't you supposed to explain the silver millennium puzzle Yamira has?
Mitzumi: time constraints. That's another chapter for another day. ;;
Shojiki: I thought the `Seto likes Yami' thing was supposed to appear at the end of the series.
Mitzumi: I just thought it would be better if I gave a hint of it now so readers won't be confused later. Besides, this fict is supposed to be more Yugioh orientated anyway. Hey, do the preview will you?
Shojiki: right then, opens Mitzumi's notebook in the next chapter of To Love Loveless: remixed, Savira and Atemu are acting weird and they aren't the only ones.
