Prologue: The Warning

____________________

Domino City, Japan

"Jou, do you know anything about that building over there?" twenty-four year old Jounouchi Shizuka asked her brother Jounouchi Katsuya. Jounouchi Katsuya, otherwise known as Jou by their friends and his sister grimaced tightly the minute his sister asked this. It wasn't the fact that she annoyed him, asking his questions when she was curious about something, but it was the fact that he would have to let her know that the building belonged to a very powerful corporation in Japan, known as Kaiba Corporations, and the corporation was controlled by his arch-enemy-a cold, ruthless and seemingly diabolical twenty-six year old man by the name Kaiba Seto.

"That's Kaiba Corporations over there," he replied after a few minutes of silence, his brown eyes forcing itself to follow the gaze of his younger sister as they stopped walking then.

Shizuka was surprised and rather curious. She had heard about Kaiba Corporations.after all weren't they the one that hosted the Battle City Tournament? However she didn't know enough nor had she seen this building before.

"How would you know Jou?" she asked her older brother then.

"Because I know the person who own Kaiba Corporation," Jounouchi replied, but by his tone of voice, one could tell that he didn't want to talk about the subject and would rather be talking about something else.

It was a cloudy day, a day that was perhaps begging for rain. Dark storm clouds had begun congregating across the sky, overshadowing the buildings and sidewalks as well. Shizuka and Jounouchi Katsuya had been walking for some time, after a day of hanging out with their friends. It had approximately been nine to ten years after Battle City Tournament. Things had returned back to normal finally and the past was something they all could put behind them. The original evils were banished and the world was yet again safe. All seemed to be well, and the original heroes/friends had gotten older, not to mention going their separate ways but still maintained their friendship for old time's sake.

But there was one in which refused to redeem himself from the cruelty and evil that held his composure tightly and firmly, unwilling to let go.

Kaiba Seto.

Despite the evils that were to be but were stopped on time, Kaiba would not abandon the coldness of his heart and seemed to have gotten colder, his heart now as black as midnight. If there was still hope for salvation in his heart, only time would tell if it would be enough to break the ice around it.

Jounouchi Katsuya had grown up to be a handsome decent young man, about 5'9 with short neatly cut golden blond/brown hair, a lightly tanned complexion and an impressive build for a young man his age. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, and a forest green windbreaker jacket as well as white tennis shoes, matching the color of his shirt. It was casual wear-after all he and their friends had been hanging out at the local pizzeria. Jounouchi Mai- Jounuochi Katsuya's wife had to work late so she wasn't present at the little get-together that was planned today.

Jounouchi Shizuka had grown up to be a very beautiful and attractive young woman, approximately 5'7 in height with long golden blond/honey brown hair that came down to her waist-very straight. Her brown eyes matched the color hue of her brother's, her outfit being a short sleeve light pink shirt, jeans and a black leather jacket as well as matching black high heel shoes. She had a light pink/black small bag with her as well. Her complexion was lightly tanned as well, having been to the beach along with her brother a couple of days ago with the gang. It was summer now but that did not mean that rain would not make an appearance.

Shizuka was a junior at Odibwa College in Japan, her major being Business Management. She was looking for a part-time job and as of now, she hadn't found one. Jounouchi was a senior in college and had a part-time job and now he was helping his sister obtain a job as well. Life for the Jounouchi's had taken a turn for the better and Skizuka hoped it would stay that way.

People were passing back and forth on the streets of Domino City, traffic flourishing throughout the area. It was a busy afternoon, individuals getting home from work and very soon the workers at Kaiba Corporations would be leaving work, always with the fearful notion that one day they would come back to work and would perhaps end up screwing up on something that would have them fired indefinitely. The CEO/president of Kaiba Corporation did not tolerate incompetence, nor would individuals that he felt would dare make him a fool or challenge his authority.

And he would not hesitate to fire anyone that made him seem that way.

Shizuka's eyes widened in question.

"Do you mean." she began and Jounouchi nodded, keeping his firm composure on the subject.

"Kaiba Seto," he replied tightly as thought it was a curse to mention the name.

The Kaiba Corporations building stood tall and defiant, just as the CEO/president himself with light blue stainless glass, winding downward with an octagon like structure. Its windows were freshly scrubbed and seemed to gleam, even though there wasn't a sun. Revolving doors were the only entranceway in the building as it seemed and whoever went through those doors would have to get pass very tight security. Kaiba Corporations was said to have the best and toughest security in Japan. No one could get in the building without passing heavy security.

"He's the one that hosted the Battle City Tournament' Shizuka. Don't ya remember?"

Shizuka nodded.

"I think so Jou," she replied but was a bit startled when Jounouchi had put a hand on her shoulder, turning her away from looking at the building itself, to look into his brown eyes, eventually taking her by both shoulders.

"I don't want ya to pass by this building Shizuka," he said firmly, causing Serenity to raise an eyebrow in question and surprise that her brother would tell her this. And it seemed as though he was very serious about this, very serious. "I don't want ya findin' yaself near him or this building. Stay away from Kaiba, just stay away from him and this building."

"Why Jou?" Shizuka asked, not knowing the immense hate between Jounouchi and Kaiba himself and what Kaiba had done to him in the past. Kaiba still despised him and still considered himself superior and Wheeler were nothing but trash that needed to be taken out. He didn't want to risk his sister getting hurt and it would seem that Kaiba had gotten colder and immensely cruel. He didn't want his sister near this jerk and bakayaro.

"I don't want ya getting hurt Shizuka. I know Kaiba and I'm telling ya this for your own benefit. Just promise me you'' stay away from this building and stay away from tha' creep."

Shizuka didn't understand Jounouchi's warning, logic or reasoning but she knew that she shouldn't pester him on why he was telling her this, given by the serious tone in his voice. There must have been a reason why Jounochi was telling her this.

Shizuka nodded agreeing with her brother.

"Okay Jounouchi, I promise," she replied.

Then thunder started rumbling from the sky, indicating that rain was coming.

"We better get home unless we want to get soaked," she said then.

Jounouchi smirked then.

"Race ya to the apartment!" he exclaimed and took off running down the street then, almost tripping over his feet.

Shizuka sighed.

Her brother was still goofy, even though he was now twenty-five.

She began walking, to catch up with him, but stopped, looking up at the building once again, but froze. In one of the windows, it seemed as though someone was watching her rather intensively, coldly and almost of a stalking look. Shizuka shivered suddenly, cursing herself for even thinking someone was looking at her and quickly made her way down the street to catch up with her brother.

She would heed her brother's warning, she promised.

But promises can be broken.and forgetfulness can occur as well.
