Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ To Love the Enemy ❯ Chapter 4: Uneasiness ( Chapter 5 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Oh, a double cliffhanger for 2 chapters huh? I like cliffhangers. They just make you want to know more of what's even going to happen. This fic will be littered with them, like I said plus its going to be creepy as hell.

~Now to the reviews

anonymous: I know. Just got started learning Japanese and that is one tough language to learn! I recently fixed the names and everything. Yeah, I go to Hunter College and its tough, one of the toughest colleges to get into. I had to go through hell and back to get in there. I think you probably did alright.didn't know there was a high school to it. I couldn't' possibly spill anything because that would kill the suspense. But I can say that Serenity will be having frightening nightmares and psychological stuff will be happening to her, starting in this chapter. A very, very creepy beginning that leads to true romance at the end.

Lalala: Thanks for your review!

Setine: Of course I would read your fics! I like that fic you're writing now 'Our Boys' which I have to start reading again.

Vendred13: You were right, lol. I did get those names mixed up but I fixed them after reconfirming stuff.

Neo_elite: Yeah, creepy, things will get creepier.

Ry Tamer: Yes he does.

KH59: Yes he will.and things will get scary for Shizuka. *kikoken looks at telekinetic Kaiba* Um.sorry.I forgot about how you're misunderstood no hard feelings.right?!

Erika 410: It's not true!

Sorceress Vanessa: Yeah, even I was shivering when I typed it too.meep!

Kaiba Corporations

Lobby

11:35am

Jounouchi Shizuka quickly walked down the hallway of the downstairs lobby of Kaiba Corporations, intent on getting out of the building while she could. She didn't dare to look behind her at the moment, she was too captivated by confusion and uneasiness to even take notice of her surroundings anymore. The lobby of Kaiba Corporations was just like any other rich person's lobby-black marble floors and golden clad elevators leading upstairs to the different floors of Kaiba Corporations itself. People were coming in the building and passed by her hurriedly but Shizuka didn't take notice of them. She was tempted to just run out of the building while she could but then again she would look too suspicious looking and people would think she was insane. This interview didn't go as she planned it would go, depending on the tips that Jounouchi had given her but didn't know where she was having the interview. It wasn't an interview she didn't have to be so nervous about.

It was an interview she would be nervous about. It was chilling and it wasn't what she expected at all.

Was this the same Kaiba that hosted the Battle City Tournament? Or was this an imposter of a man that was assuming his identity? Shizuka didn't expect he would have been so frighteningly cold and unfeeling, not to mention creepy. But despite his dark, cold personality, one of which she was exposed to and didn't have quite a great experience with, she had gotten the job. She assumed that Kaiba was perhaps having a terrible day and had perhaps woken up on the wrong side of the bed. After all, she couldn't imagine that someone such as Kaiba Seto himself wouldn't have so much stress and irritation to contend with every day. However in her mind, she was starting to wonder whether she was to assume that Kaiba was just having a bad day. She didn't enjoy his attitude during the interview. He sounded psychotic, conniving, evil, immensely cold to the point it radiated off of him. He sounded as though he was enjoying the cold, unimpressed way he was conducting the interview. Not even once did he comment on her credentials, as though she was a piece of trash in her eyes.

Why did he act this way?

Could Jounouchi have been right about her staying away from here?

But that was preposterous. She did get the job that she wanted and nothing in her mind should make her even think that the interview was a mistake.

But Jounouchi likes to scare me most of the time when he's being a usual goofball, even the gang knows that. But then again he did sound serious when he mentioned to stay away from here. I need this job though. The interview may have been a bit weird but I'm worrying too much.I probably wouldn't have to come in Kaiba's office as often. I'll have to do paperwork to do at my own desk. I'm worrying too much.the interview may have been creepy but at least I got the job. But should I tell Jou I'm soon to be working here? Maybe I shouldn't.I'll have to make up something. There's nothing to even worry about now.it wasn't that bad.

Shizuka started to feel better about the situation then, but only gradually. She wasn't exactly sure she would tell Jounouchi anything but somehow, as of now she found it easier not to tell him about this at all. She would have to make up something to tell him.

Shizuka passed by the medium square section were three security guards with suits and head pieces that were sitting down, scanning everything that was happening on the television screens overlooking the lobby floor and top floors of Kaiba Corporations, eventually making her way outside the large double doors of the building. She knew that Jounouchi would eventually ask about how the interview went later on-he was off from work and had only two classes at the moment. Shizuka had the apartment to herself after her one class of Business, all of which she could get something to eat and pick out what she was wearing for the dinner she and the gang were having tonight at Yatshabaki Restaurant, a newly opened restaurant that also turned out to be one of the most expensive restaurants in Domino City, Japan. It was opened for a month already and so far it quickly became a favorite spot for business men to congregate there, discussing business. The gang was able to afford it because Jounouchi, Yami, and Yuugi had already made reservations for everyone after putting the money together for the occasion. This was planned weeks ago because it had been a long time since the gang had gotten together. Mai, Anzu, Naomi, Kira, and Diana were coming over to get ready. Jounouchi and Shizuka's apartment was huge and it was spacious, clean and something Jounouchi worked very hard to obtain. Shizuka admired her brother very much. He was a hard working person and certainly wasn't a quitter at all.

He promised everything was going to be start over for them but it was going to be different and it would never be disrupted again.

The streets were crowded as usual, people heading to work or perhaps school.

Shizuka looked at her watch as she walked down the street then.

It was 11:45am.

She had enough time to get to Odibwa College so she would need to stop by the apartment and get her notebook.

Forgetting about the interview for the time being, Shizuka quickened her pace down the street, unaware that the same man that interviewed her was watching her every movement as she left the presence of Kaiba Corporations as she disappeared from sight.

It will be a pleasure indeed to make your life hell.

Philosophy 101

11:47 am

Twenty-one year old Kaiba Mokuba sat down almost miserably in his Philosophy class, taking notes boringly as the professor-Professor Scott Dunston, an American transferee professor continued his lecture based on Socrates and the nature of the mind. Mokuba thought Philosophy would have been actually interesting; however it turned out to be a boring fest, as far as things went. The lectures in itself seemed interesting, however it was slowly becoming miserably boring. Right now, he had wished that he was at Kaiba Corporations, dealing with some business stuff like he usually did.

Is it me or did this class just get even more boring? Seto thinks Philosophy is interesting. Yeah, right. If he was here, he would have had this American guy fired for being so boring. Luckily its almost over. It's supposed to be finished by 12:00pm.

Kaiba Mokuba, in the space of ten years going on eleven years had grown up to be a handsome young man, at least 6'0 in height now but not reaching as tall as his brother. His long dark black hair was still sprayed out; some coming in his face, looking like a rock star's. He had developed an impressive build as well, wearing a black windbreaker jacket, a white t-shirt and denim jeans as well. He sat down in his seat, slumped as he listened to the professor. Surprisingly for a huge lecture, hall, that could fit at least six-hundred students, there were only about three-hundred students in the classroom at the moment. Mokuba was never a fan of huge classrooms-he preferred small classrooms where he could stay awake longer.

But Philosophy, at the moment was making him fall sleep.

Over the space of time, Mokuba had become very good friends with Motou Yuugi and the others. It had been ten whole years since Battle City Tournament, going on eleven now. He didn't understand why his brother's attitude remained the same and neither did he dare ask him about it. His brother still loved him and respected him; however the subject of Motou Yuugi and his friends was still a debated topic. There was something that was still dark and frighteningly cold about Kaiba and somehow it was getting darker. He did respect Yuugi and the others, however it wasn't the respect Mokuba expected him to have, after all the others had gone through much to make things back to the way they were and Mokuba owed them everything.

But there was still visible tension and there was still visible venomous hate coming from his brother-particularly between him and Jounouchi Katsuya. But Mokuba knew his brother. He would avoid the subject completely when he asked him about it and it would only result in an argument Mokuba was neither prepared for or rather not have.

Mokuba sighed then, and looked at his watch yet again.

It was 11:52am.

He smirked.

At least, the class was nearing its conclusion, however, his face grimaced when he realized he had paper due two days from now for the same class.

Mokuba then sighed.

Being a sophomore in college was starting to become ay utmost annoying experience.

Especially when the papers were due.
