Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ To Love the Enemy ❯ Chapter 7: Second Encounters ( Chapter 8 )
*kikoken sighs* Heh, finally got this chapter up. Sorry about the let down, my uncle had some computer trouble and I do mean computer trouble so I couldn't update over the weekend. For those that haven't checked out my new Seto/Shizuka vampire fic, check it out! I am ALREADY working on Chapter 1 as of now, I mean I STILL don't understand how the blue hell I came up with this but it looks cool in my mind. It will rock, trust me!
~Now to the reviews!
Vendred 13: Yeah Joey kept his mouth shut alright. And about the vampire fic, Kaiba is not going to show up at their refugee camp so to speak. He doesn't know their hideout YET and he has others finding out for him. He has enough assassins and other people working for him that he would be able to track down Shizuka and the others soon enough and that will happen, ending up in their capture and escape. He shows up at the party they will be attending, their slaying mission for the night. Their objective is to infiltrate the party and save hapless unsuspecting humans from becoming dessert because numerous of vampires reside there at the party as well as obtaining more information about Kaiba Corporations because at the moment their resources are limited and they are refugee slayers. Kaiba will be there to take care of some business alright so the action will begin to heat up in Chapter 2 and heat up even more in Chapter 3.
Sakurelle: Oh, you know about Rebecca huh? What does she look like and what's her Japanese name? Could you find out about her for me? I always keep hearing about this Rebecca person and I'm like 'who the heck is that?' Know what I mean? Glad you like my vampire fic. Chapter 1 will be pretty long but not as long as Chapter 2.
Friend of sakurelle's: Glad you like my fics. I'm honored Sakurelle would refer me to you.
Neo_elite: Yeah, but don't even think something's going on between Honda and Shizuka.maybe you were thinking that right?! Kidding.
Erika 410: I'm thinking that right now the guys are trying to work things out. What do you think?
CherryRedHead: Yeah I think of Kaiba doing that too even though he loves his brother. I swear the dude is strange...but then again what do you expect?
Omnis: Well guess where he decides to show up in this chapter? Her college. Now that's scary. Good luck fighting Kaiba...oh and read my new Seto/Shizuka fanfic. I'm planning on working on four fanfics based on these two for now.
Purple Sugar: Manly men alright...heh especially when the women makes them shop.
Jieli: Me either but I like his Brooklyn accent. That's how I would imagine him speaking if he was real. The evil Seto moments get eviler...oh and if you have a chance, read my new Seto/Shizuka fanfic. It's my first vampire fic and don't ask how I came up with it...the idea just came along.
Ren-chan: Hey, my Japanese expert! Thanks. Do you know what Juni means though? Isn't that one of the Japanese numbers? I'm slowly learning Japanese but I'm still not fluent. Gomen.
KC: Okay I'll check out the picture!
Sorceress Vanessa: Yeah that's what I wonder. How could he maintain staring at that screen so long?
Kaiba: It's called concentration *smirks*
Kikoken: Uh-huh.
Whoa so many reviews! Now here's Chapter 7, finally!

Chapter 7: Second Encounters

Bakura Residence
Domino City, Japan
12:55pm
Bakura Ryou sighed and decided that once again he would have to try convincing his former yami to come to the dinner that Motou Yuugi and the others had planned for weeks.
"Bakura," he began almost nervously; however the former tomb robber interrupted him quickly in a firm, deep and raspy sounding voice that sounded to Ryou like a cold hiss of a cobra.
"No, I am not going to that little excursion and I am not facing that pharaoh," he said almost boringly, flipping through channels on the medium sized, black Sony television set, his dark eyes narrowed.
Great, nothing on this contraption Ryou likes to call the television set. If he expects that I will go to this dinner feast and have that damn pharaoh accusing me of looking at his girlfriend again, he is sadly mistaken because I plan to stay here and find something more worth my time to do.
The tension between Bakura and Yami Yuugi had simmered down only to a boil after the Battle City Tournament and even showed some small amounts of improvement thanks to Motou Yuugi and Bakura Ryou. However, Bakura didn't consider Yami Yuugi as a friend. And he would certainly not go beyond this small gratitude of respect-certainly not for his former hikari's sake.
Ryou sighed quietly yet again as he looked down at his former yami, his arms folded. It had been weeks since he had tried convincing Bakura to come to the get-together because he was part of the gang now however Bakura sharply declined and Ryou knew why.
He still didn't consider himself friends with Yami Yuugi and showed only a small amount of respect for the former spirit. That was after all a small improvement from his cold demeanor ten years ago; however he still preferred to remain isolated.
Bakura Ryou had grown up also to become a handsome young man, a little taller than before, his complexion taking on a small tan because he had gone to Hawaii in the United States with his fiancée Katrina. He was home for the time being, wearing a white shirt and jeans, his snow white hair hanging around some of his face.
Bakura was wearing a black shirt with jeans as well. He still looked the same way as ten years ago, except a small scar ran down his cheek. His face and demeanor wasn't as cold as before, however he wasn't exactly friendly either.
Both men were in their apartment, in the living room with brick walls and a navy blue carpet. Bakura was sitting on a crème colored sofa, the living room complete with an entertainment system. Actually the apartment looked mainly like a studio-expensive and all paid for with Ryou's money. Bakura wasn't working at the moment but was being forced by Bakura to find a job. However getting Bakura to get a job was as hard as oatmeal at the bottom of a pot that had boiled over.
Bakura had taken a liking of the living room, sitting down and mainly watching television all day. He didn't always seem to notice when Ryou came in the house from work and when he did he would grunt a usual hello.
Ryou was tempted to stop asking Bakura to come; however he had a small plan up his sleeve that he hoped would work. A girl that had seen Bakura before wanted to date the former tomb robber so he decided that he would ask Bakura to show her a good time by eventually coming to the dinner. He was hoping that this worked; otherwise he wasn't exactly sure what else he could possibly try.
He was lucky that Bakura no longer had the millennium ring because if he aggravated the former spirit any longer, Bakyra wouldn't hesitate to find some way to send him to the Shadow Realm. Ever since Battle City was finished, the millennium items gad returned to their rightful places.
"Bakura, you know it would look really bad if you didn't come," Ryou said calmly as Bakura continued flipping through channels aimlessly, muttering that there had to be something on the television set that he would enjoy for the time being. The former spirit didn't like being bored and would make sure he did find something to do that included him, not becoming bored.
Bakura scoffed at Ryou's words.
"How long are you going to keep asking me about something I have already said no to at least a dozen times?" he asked in the same firm voice, wishing not to lose his temper.
Ryou grinned slightly and then hopped over the, eventually sitting next to Bakura.
"Bakura it can't be that bad," he reasoned. "You can just be there for a few minutes and then you can go home." He looked at Bakura however Bakura didn't return his look. He knew Ryou's beady eye look, a pleading look that he couldn't stand. Even though he was now twenty-four, Ryou still sported the pleading look that was almost irresistible to tear away from. The former spirit and the young man were now more like friends but not too close.
"Yuugi expected everyone was coming, especially you," Ryou continued. "And I don't think Yami would mind, just as long as he doesn't catch you eyeing Anzu-"
"I wasn't eyeing the little friendship girl Ryou," Bakura interrupted, now looking at Ryou with narrowed eyes. "Do you not think that may be part of the reason why I do not want to go, that jealous pharaoh might blame me for staring at his girlfriend? He believed I was staring at his girlfriend from since last week when I wasn't. It does not even take a genius to know I am not very interested in women. As tempting as it would be to put Yami Yuugi in his place at the dinner, I do not feel like going so you can go and then come back and tell me how it went."
"Someone wants to date you Bakura," Ryou said with a smirk, knowing what he was doing and hoping that it would work. Bakura suddenly raised an eyebrow in question.
"Like who?" he asked without blinking, looking at Ryou but the look also said that whatever Ryou was planning wasn't going to work.
"She's this gothic looking girl that works at the book store. She saw you before and was wondering if you were dating at the moment."
Bakura snorted and turn away.
"Yeah right," he began but Ryou decided to continue on. He was telling the truth about this and if he could get Ryou to date the girl, Bakura would come to the dinner. Yuugi had already made reservations for seats. As long as Bakura didn't ruin the night, Ryou hoped it would be a get together they wouldn't forget.

12:59pm
Mazaki Anzu sighed as she grabbed her purse, getting ready to take her lunch break for the time being, making her way to the door and eventually reaching outside, closing the door behind her as she then walked down the red carpeted hallway. A wave of happiness played in her eyes as she walked down the hallway, people passing by, people she knew on a daily basis congratulating her on her engagement to Yami Yuugi. Anzu smiled at that. This time Yami must have told everyone about this as he happily left her office after kissing her twice. Of course everyone knew Yami Yuugi was her boyfriend-now her fiancé; however they didn't know he was a spirit of a millennium item. This was what Anzu had promised to Yami the minute they began dating, not to mention this because it would cause a complicated situation neither of them would be prepared to explain. Only she and the gang knew about this and decided to put it behind them. Everything that happened was in the past now and all they had to do was look forward to the future. She hoped that Ryou was able to convince Yami Bakura to come to the dinner tonight. The spirit was still a bit stubborn and he and Yami weren't exactly on good terms either, at least now. She also knew that she would have to calm Yami down in case he lost his temper with Yami Bakura, if Yami Bakura should say something inappropriate. Anzu hoped that Ryou could prevent Bakura from doing anything awry tonight. She didn't need something like the yami's constant bickering ruining their night out.
Yami Yuugi was a jealous person and Anzu knew this, even though he didn't mean to be that way. He truly loved her and would do anything to make her happy. He had proposed to her right on her job and that was something she would never forget. She had never met someone as devoted and motivated as he was. The proposal gave her some things to think about; however her mood darkened a bit when she suddenly began thinking about her parents. It had been years since her parents had died and it was the most heart-breaking experience she had ever faced. Her parents were dead and they didn't know she was about to get married soon to the man of her life. She wished that they were still alive to witness everything, that their little girl was now a grown woman ready to face the world. But she knew that someway and somehow, if there was a God that they were watching over her. She believed there was a God and she knew that same God was also watching over her as well.
A tear threatened to spill down her cheek; however Anzu wiped the moisture from her eyes before it became a steady stream of tears. No, she couldn't be sad. Yami wouldn't like seeing her this way, especially when he left her in her office with a joyous look on her face. He didn't like when she was sad and he would do anything to make her happy.
It still hurts after 13 years now, knowing that they're not around, but they're here in spirit. I just know it.
Anzu smiled yet again. She just knew that things were going to work out between her and Yami. It was foretold.
But then again, what if they had children?
What would she tell their children? That their father was once a 5,000 year old pharaoh spirit trapped in a millennium item?
Anzu giggled at that to herself. She could just imagine the looks on their faces if they found out about that. She then looked at her watch.
It's 1:00pm, time sure passes by fast. I hope Naomi remembers where we're meeting.
Naomi Yamato was Motou Yuugi's fiancée, engaged to be married in a couple of months. The twenty-three year old woman worked a couple of blocks from Anzu's workplace so they would meet up occasionally to have lunch.
With that in mind, Anzu made her way to the elaborately constructed elevator to leave the building.

Odibwa College
Domino City, Japan
1:15pm [1]
Hallway
Shizuka walked down the hallway of the 10th floor of Odibwa College, feeling the need to use the bathroom for a second. It had been 15 minutes since the class had started, Shizuka making it to her class on time. She wasn't exactly missing much because she had done the required readings for the course and whatever the professor-Xun-sensei was going over-she already studied and understood already. She was going to the class in case something new came up.
She wasn't sure why she was going to the bathroom, other than using it-she just felt the need to go as she walked down the dark gray marbled, light gray marbled hallway, her shoes softly padding down through the area. When she had come home, she changed out of her high heels, putting on a pair of black Diesels [2] to keep her feet comfortable. After all, her feet were killing her and she decided to change out of the shoes for the time being.
Why did I lie to Jou? I know why I didn't tell him anything but its as though I feel really guilty about telling him and I don't enjoy feeling this way. I never lied to Jounouchi about anything. But I shouldn't have a reason to feel guilty.
It was true, she had never lied to her brother before and neither had he ever lied to her. They had made a bond to look out for each other and in all her guiltiness, Shizuka felt she had broken that bond. Perhaps not completely but lying wasn't something she enjoyed doing, especially when now she would have to come up with plenty of things to keep Jounouchi from asking her too many questions.
But something told her, something in her mind warned her not to tell Jounouchi anything about the job so she decided to go along with the voice.
However the slight guilt still troubled her.
As much as she wanted to forget about the interview, despite her slight nervousness over the first day tomorrow, she couldn't forget the interview. She wasn't sure whether it was a mistake or not but what mattered was that she had finally got a job.
As she was walking down the hallway, about to turn the corner and she did, suddenly she froze, stopping immediately on her tracks.
What is he doing here?
That was what passed through her mind as she stood there, unable to move. It wasn't that she felt fear-at least she didn't think she felt fear, however she was shocked, a cold brush of surprise and shock passing through her.
The man she had recognized and had known to be her college advisor -her Business Management college advisor was speaking to Kaiba Seto.
College advisor Yashayu Kaishima was a man in his mid forties, around 5'6 in height, causing a height intimidation as Kaiba towered over him by inches. He had thinning iron gray hair, dark eyes and occasionally wore glasses even though he wasn't wearing glasses now. He was wearing a blue/light blue stripped shirt with a navy blue tie and equally navy blue pants with black shoes.
He was speaking to Kaiba about something as occasional people passed by, talking among themselves as they recognized the person standing there with the college advisor. Young women occasionally stole glances to look at the tall immensely attractive man who had just gave them a look, a stone cold look, causing them to quickly look away nervously.
Shizuka felt a small chill pass through her for a second but quickly shook it off as she carefully made her way down the hallway, deciding that whatever was discussed had nothing to do with her or the presence of Kaiba Seto have nothing to do with her although she was very surprised that he was here.
It doesn't matter.it's not of my concern why he's here anyway.
As she got nearer, passing the two men, she began hearing more of the conversation that was taking place.
"I don't expect this lecture to go on any longer than its supposed to go," Kaiba said emotionlessly, a hand in his pocket. "I have a very important meeting at that appointed time Kaishima. I'm not a fan of long pathetically boring lectures so I intend for everything to be quick."
College advisor Yashayu Kaishima nodded almost fearfully, the deep, cold and raspy voice commanding and authoritative.
"No.of course not.I will be sure that won't happen," he replied nervously. " I will inform Xun-sensei about this as soon as possible."
Kaishima's voice trailed off as he noticed Kaiba slowly looking over at the young woman that was making her way down the hallway, a piercing gaze on his face, followed by a small almost detectable cold smirk. Shizuka looked at him carefully but quickly looked away as Kaishima followed the gaze, smiling warmly as he saw the woman. He knew Shizuka on a daily basis as well as her brother. He had known both of them since Shizuka was recently admitted to Odibwa College two years ago.
"Ms. Jounouchi," Kaishima called out, causing Shizuka to stop walking, when she was about to make it pass the two men in the middle of the wide hallway. At the corner of her eye, she noticed the cold grin on Kaiba Seto's face but turned away quickly at the same time, feeling another shiver pass through her spine.
Shizuka came over to the men then but cautiously, eventually standing with Kaishima.
What does he want? I have a class right now and I was going to the restroom. I don't like the way Kaiba looked at me.unless he intended to make me uncomfortable because of the interview.
Shizuka felt uncomfortable and uneasy as to why she was called over but decided to keep her demeanor intact. She could feel Kaiba's eyes roaming over her carefully, attentively and knowingly as well as though he already sensed her uncomfortable composure. She struggled not to let it show as she bowed slightly in politeness.
"Konniti wa Kaishima-san," she said quietly as the man nodded in reply.
"Konniti wa Ms. Jounouchi," Kaishima replied. "I'm assuming that you have a class at the moment?"
"Hai, I was just going to the restroom," Shizuka replied.
"Aa, zenbu wakarimasita. I heard that you obtained an internship at Kaiba Corporations. You must be happy about it."
"She starts tomorrow," Kaiba interrupted sharply, coldness lingering behind the words as though he dared the advisor to cut him off. It was more of a command than a statement, his eyes still locked on to Shizuka.
She seems to be so uncomfortable. How pitiful. Be uncomfortable Jounouchi. I'll enjoy it very much, putting you in your place along with the mutt.
Kaishima hesitated at first and uneasily and then nodded.
"Well.perhaps I will see you later Ms. Jounouchi. Perhaps we should take this conversation in my office f-for the time being."
It wasn't hard to understand Kaishima was intimidated by the CEO/president's presence as he carefully cleared his throat then.
"I have plenty of time Kaishima, at least for now," Kaiba said icily.
The college advisor quickly nodded again and gave Shizuka a nod as well, proceeding to walk down the hallway. Kaiba was about to follow him but before he did, he gave Shizuka an evil, malicious grin.
"I do hope you remember your time to come in tomorrow Jounouchi," he said darkly in almost a mere whisper, his ice blue eyes still fixated on the woman, his potential victim. "Or.like I said it would be a pity if you forgot. Don't think you'll get anywhere because of this job Jounouchi, I didn't have to give it to you, of course."
Then Kaiba sneered, eventually leaving, following the college advisor, people quickly getting out of his way.
Shizuka slowly backed away, the words playing over and over in her mind suddenly as she turned away, quickly making her way down the hallway, her plans to use the restroom cancelled for the time being.
