Summary: Sequel to Ultimate Valentine. Through prayers Ryou has finally found a way to get Yami back to his old self. In a complicated trial the angels grant Yugi passage back to the land of the living…under certain “conditions” . Read and Review.

 

Chapter 1: New Hope

 

Yami sat on his hikari's bed, his eyes two dark caves of sorrow. For months he had sat there, staring into nothing and crying for his hikari. The house seemed to have lost its sparkle. Nothing had changed in the room since Yugi's suicide. The blood was still on the sheets and the floor. Although he was a “spirit” and did not require food to live not doing anything but sitting and staring took a toll o his health. Everyday after school, since the suicide, Ryou and Bakura had visited the pharaoh with the hope of getting him out of the room. He was killing himself and neither of them thought that Yugi had wanted that.

 

Today would be slightly different because Ryou and Bakura had been given hope and because they had a third person with them. She looked somewhat like Ryou, had two large white wings erupting from her back and she wore a dark robe with a black belt. Yes, it was Ryou's mother, within the recent years she had reached a high rank of angel and was allowed to pass between the realms when required. Ever since Yugi had passed away Ryou had stayed up every night to pray for something, anything to save Yami. Yami needed help…a reason to live and he and Bakura couldn't do it by themselves.

 

Flashback

 

Ryou sat on the ground in his living room having fallen off as a bright light had appeared. Bakura, who had been lucky enough to feel it coming, had retreated to his soul room. The light sucked itself back and seemed to disappear into a black hole. As the dots stopped to dance in front of Ryou's eyes he began to see the image of a woman. He gently rubbed his eyes and gasped. In front of him was the image of his mother…well only slightly different.

 

The woman looked down at Ryou and smile softly, “Hello Ryou, sorry for the unexpected intrusion.”

 

Ryou walked closer to her and let himself be pulled into a tight hug, “A-are you real?”

 

As the two embraced Bakura came out of the soul room and watched them.

 

“Very real…”

 

“I'm assuming you two know each other,” Bakura said alerting the two of them of his presence.

 

The woman chuckled and straightened herself.

 

“Hello Bakura, I am Ryou's mother, you may call me Gabriel or Gabby. It is truly a pleasure to finally meet the man, or spirit I guess is more accurate, that gives my baby so much happiness,” she said as Bakura seated himself. “Sad to say I'm not here for pleasant hello's. Right to the point then?” She pushed Ryou gently to sit with Bakura.

 

“We've heard your prayers, and thinking of the conditions of Yugi's death and his timing, we've decided to bring your friend back to life,” she paused to let the news sink in as Ryou let out a whoop of joy. “However, this is not without a cost…”

 

Ryou settled down and Bakura mumbled something that sounded like `There's always a catch'.

 

“Yugi will not remember anything of his previous life. His name will be changed as will his identity, family, and past. Everyone but Yami, and those close to you will forget he ever existed.”

 

“What else?” Bakura asked.

 

Gabriel smiled crookedly, “If Yugi and Yami do not manage to fall in love once more within a yearand a day…then he will be taken back, also he must remember everything from his past life and still wish to live with you in this life. LastlyYami must not know of the deal…”

 

“Wow…those are a lot of conditions,” Ryou said his mouth slightly slack.

 

“Don't worry too much, I'll be here to help,” Ryou's mother said cheerfully.

 

“Really?! You can stay?” Ryou asked excited.

 

“Yes but only for the duration of the “trial”. Something nifty to know, no one else can hear of see me. You can talk to me just by thinking.”

 

“So what do we do now?” Bakura asked.

 

“Well…he's never going to meet Yugi again if he doesn't get out of the house.”

 

“Phase One Starts,” Ryou said as he unlocked the front door of the Game Shop.

Mistress: So how is it? Any good? I sure hope it is. ^^ This is a tease chapter, sad to say I'm not sure how long the chapters will be although I will try to write a lot. Heh, yes I'm still feeling sucky but I shouldn't let my loyal readers suffer ne? Ish be a strong supporter of YugiYami so I just HAD to bring him back. He he. >< This story should be around…. 13 chapters long ( or at least 13 chapters ). FEEDBACK IS GREAT! Oh and if you're wondering why there is no Malik, I'm following the thing that he moved away and his “darkness” was banished.
