Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Toxic ❯ When You Told Me You Loved Me ( Chapter 5 )
Toxic
The Panasonic Princess
Author's Note: Well, this is the first chapter I'm typing by myself, seeing as Mizu-chan's on vacation. And those of you who know me know how much I despise capitals. But I went through this, like, a hundred times, and made sure the formatting and the grammar/punctuation was correct. I'm really good at grammar, it's just that I tend to cheat when I'm on the computer. Hopefully, I'll get better at this (like Ame no Mizu-chan… she types, like, 75 words a minute. It's fun watching her on the computer. She can write a correct sentence on chat in a second. She's a freak when it comes to grammar. You should try to chat with her any time she goes on, and watch her sentence structure. It's nearly perfect.). I, however, am not so good. I'm still new to this whole typing thing. Up until now, Mizu-chan has typed all my stories for me, but now that she's on hiatus, I've gotta type most of my stuff by myself. I've also got an editor. She's one of Mizu's friends, FireFriendship. She's a sweetie, I swear.
Anyway, I think that's it. Thanks for reading!
Chapter five:
When You Told Me You Loved Me
*
When you told me you loved me
Did you know it would take me the rest of my life
To get over the feeling of knowing
A dream didn't turn out right?
When you let me believe that
You weren't complete without me by your side
How could I know that you would go,
That you would run
Baby, I thought you were the one…

Yugi walked quickly, letting the Puzzle pull him in the right direction. He was beyond worried. He hated having Yami not responding to him. It scared him not to have Yami on the other end of their link. They had to get him back.
He looked back at his koibito, and he suddenly felt bad. He didn't want Jou to get hurt because of this thing with the yamis. It wasn't fair. The blonde had nothing to do with any of this.
Yet here he was, at Yugi's side when he needed him the most.
"This way," he said suddenly, as the Puzzle pulled them around another corner, "Yami's close. I can feel it."
"You know… this area looks familiar…" Jou suddenly mused. Yugi frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"We've been here before," Jou said, "This all looks familiar."
"Yeah, you're right. Isn't this Kaiba's neighborhood?"
"Wait a second…" Bakura suddenly snapped, "Sethos is Seto's preincarnation. You don't think…"
"Sethos is at Kaiba's?" Jou finished the thought incredulously, "But why would Kaiba let him in there? Why would he let Sethos bring Yami to his mansion?"
"I think Bakura's right," Yugi said, "If Sethos is as powerful as he said, I don't think Seto would have much of a choice. He may have been forced."
"And if that's the case, then Yami is in more danger than I thought," the albino said, "I wouldn't be surprised if he still had control of the Millennium Rod."
An uneasy feeling settled in Yugi's stomach as Bakura grabbed his arm and pulled him down the street towards Kaiba's house. Was Yami really in that much trouble? Was he in danger?
Whatever the case, Yugi wouldn't stop until Yami was safe.
As the large mansion appeared in the background, glinting in the late afternoon sun, the power that Yugi had been borrowing from the Puzzle began to falter. They were getting closer to Sethos, and, in turn, to Yami. Yugi cut off the power, and looked up at Bakura.
What Yugi assumed was Sethos' voice rang in his head.
`What can your tomb robber do for you? Does he love you?'
Oh, God… he's turning Yami against Bakura, he thought, I know Bakura loves him. Yami should know that!
"Hey, Bakura…" he called softly, and the thief looked down at him.
"Yeah?"
`I want to love you and protect you. Will your tomb robber give that to you?'
"Well… there's something I've been meaning to tell you," Yugi said. Bakura's eyebrow rose.
"What is it?"
"We… we know about you and Yami."
Bakura stopped short. Yugi, out of the corner of his eye, saw Joey stop behind him, and he took his lover's hand.
"What?"
`My beautiful pharaoh…Tell me you still love me…'
"I don't mind," Yugi continued hurriedly, "I think it's great. You love him, don't you?"
The albino turned a little red.
"Well… yeah, I guess…"
"When we get him back, I want you to tell him," Yugi declared, "He'd really like to know, I think. He loves you, too."
"…are you sure?"
Yugi grinned.
"Very sure," he replied, "C'mon, we'd better hurry up."
With a shared grin, they began to walk again. As they approached the lavish mansion, Yugi saw a tall, unmistakable figure leaning against the front gates, his arms crossed.
"Kaiba?" Yugi called. The teen looked up. He smirked when they reached him.
"Took you long enough."

Yami forced himself to breathe as his throat began to close, hindering his speech. He loved Sethos. He wanted them to be together. He wanted them to never part again.
But if that were true, why would his voice not allow him to simply say the words?
He was kissed again, and he completely surrendered to his ancient lover's touch as a tongue flicked over his lips. There was something wrong about this, something that he just couldn't put his finger on. He wasn't sure what it meant, but every ounce of sense he had was telling him to stop this before it got too far…
Slowly, as if his body was controlling itself, he braced his hands on Sethos' chest and pushed, breaking the kiss. The High Priest frowned.
"I… I can't…" was nearly all Yami could manage, "… I can't do this…"
"Why?" Sethos asked, a hint of anger creeping into his voice, "Don't do this to me again, Athari. I know you love me. Why can I not kiss you?"
"It's… it's not right," Yami replied, finding his voice gradually, "I love him…"
"Is this about that damn tomb robber again?" he asked, "I thought we went over this: he'll never love you. He didn't love you three thousand years ago, and he doesn't love you now. If he ever cared about you, don't you think he'd-"
He broke off, still growling, and his eyes went red. Yami tried to shrink back, but it was impossible (when had he allowed himself to be pinned down to the bed?). The door beside them was flung open, and Sethos smirked, his grip on Yami's wrists tightening.
"I've been expecting you," he said silkily, "It's been a long time, tomb robber."
The other yami stood there in the doorway, the essence of power. Yami struggled to get out of Sethos' grip, desperate to run into his newer lover's arms (as weak and pathetic as that sounded). Yami met his gaze, and tried to tell him with his eyes how grateful he was that the albino had gotten here in time. The way Sethos had been pinning the ex-pharaoh down, there was only one speculation as to where the situation had been heading…
"Let him go, Priest," Bakura snapped (Yami shivered, hearing the raw fury in his voice), "He no longer belongs to you."
Sethos growled, and Yami tensed slightly, continuing his struggles. He didn't like where this was going, and if the look in Sethos' eyes was any indication, he wasn't ready to give Yami up without a fight…
But the priest simply shrugged and climbed off him.
"Fine. Take him," he replied. Yami took the opportunity to scramble off the bed and into Bakura's arms (just in case Sethos was planning to change his mind).
There was a moment in which Bakura and Sethos stared at each other.
"I don't know what your intentions are, priest," the former growled, "But if you think you'll have this kind of opportunity again, you are sadly mistaken."
Without waiting for a reply from Sethos, he guided Yami out of the bedroom, slamming the door behind them. Yami held onto his lover's hand tightly as he allowed himself to be pulled down the hallway. When he believed that they were safe, and that Sethos wasn't going to follow them, Yami forced Bakura to stop.
"Bakura…" he whispered, losing himself in his lover's arms. Bakura held him tightly, and they said nothing for a long while. Yami was content to just stay here, wrapped in strong, powerful arms, and not have to care about the world at all…
He was tired of being strong. For once, he just wanted someone else to be strong for him.
"Yami… we should get back to the others," Bakura whispered, "Yugi and Jou are waiting for us in the main lobby…"
He made a move as if to leave, but Yami held him back. It couldn't be left like this… Yami had to tell him, or it would drive him mad…
"Bakura… I… There's something I have to tell you…" he whispered fervently. Bakura shook his head.
"No, there's something I need to tell you first," he said, "Yami… I love you. I've always loved you. I should never have let this happen. I promise, even if you don't feel the same way about me, I'll never let this happen again. He'll never take you against your will now that I'm protecting you."
Tears welled in Yami's eyes as he threw himself into Bakura's arms and held on tightly. The thief's arms circled his waist and squeezed lightly.
"I love you, too," Yami gasped, burying his face in the pale neck, "I'm so happy you love me too… I've loved you for the longest time…"
They stood there in each other's arms, holding on tightly. Yami had never felt so completed. Bakura was the missing piece in his soul, and now that they were together, they were whole… But there was something that was still bothering him…
He didn't love you three thousand years ago, and he doesn't love you now…
He wasn't sure what it meant, but Sethos obviously knew something Yami didn't. His memory wasn't complete-he didn't remember having any lover besides Sethos. He and Bakura certainly weren't together in Egypt…
…Right?
He looked up into Bakura's eyes, and it suddenly didn't seem important anymore. Sethos didn't matter. All that meant something to him was right here, and Yami would give it up for the world.
"We should go back to the others," Bakura said, "Yugi and the pup are waiting for us in the front hall. Joey didn't want your hikari in the middle of all this."
"Then why did he come here?"
"We had to find you. He's the only one who could."
Yami nodded, not really upset. He was glad Yugi was here. He needed as much support as possible.
He allowed Bakura to pull him down the hall toward the front of the building, flushed. Yugi and Joey were standing in the front hall, as Bakura had said. The hikari ran up to them, throwing his arms around Yami's waist and squeezing tightly.
"Yami, are you okay?" he cried, and Yami smiled.
"I'm fine hikari," he replied, "I just want to go home."
With his hikari by his side and his lover's hand enveloped in his own, Yami turned away from his past and returned to where he belonged…

There ya go. No, it's not over yet, I promise. It's far from over. There's a lot more coming up!
