Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Trust Me ❯ Zork Necrophadisu ( Chapter 5 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Priestess: I would like to thank my reviewers DirtyD and Amethyst_Dragonflame for, well, reviewing! Especially to DirtyD for his/her double reviews and rating of 10 out of 10, though I wish somebody would rate all the ratable things. It would be quite helpful.

Freaky Fact: Ever heard of the 'First Season?' It's a load of bull. There aren't two seasons, but two series. The dub is based on Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters! which comes from a different company than the so-called 'First Season', which had twenty-five episodes and was based on the first few mangas. It's the one where Kaiba had green hair.

Priestess: I have a few pictures of Necrophadisu if you want the image clearer, since I suck at describing things.

Namu, hidden behind his pillar, tried his best not to upchuck. That terrifying, intimidating creature seeming about to destroy the only thing he had left...it had been intended to be carved into his back.

Obelisk...thought a stunned Seth, staring at the creature. His mind couldn't form anything else but that word-Obelisk!!

Mariku's eyes darkened and he whirled on Isis. "Are you completely blind?!" he half-yelled, furious that this strange woman was so unruffled by something which flustered even him. "Can you even see that...that thing!?!"

Isis glanced at him, unperturbed. "Yes. Of course I can see it. I just have more important things on my mind than a petty quarrel." Mariku opened his mouth to shout at her, but he couldn't think of anything bad enough to say-so he simply growled under his breath.

Justice is in the name of god...thought Atemu grimly, his fists clenched. I believe in father's words.

Kneeling by the mummified Akunamukanon, Shimon stared like the others at Obelisk. The three God tablets in the temple...those Guardians' true names have become mysteries. But it's said that the Pharaoh which can wield these names...

Obelisk!! thought Nahkti in disbelief. He had heard legends of the three mysterious gods and their unlimited might, and new Diabaundo would shatter against them. Can it be...?

Then he calmed down, and his lips twitched into a smirk. "My plan was to kill all of you here and take the seven Millennium Items. But, standing up against god...that changes everything.

"Nahkti..." snarled Atemu. "My father put his plea for peace and freedom into the creation of the Millennium Items." His eyes darkening, he added, "I will not forgive those who want to steal the Items...steal his dream."

"Freedom...peace..." Nahkti's voice was filled with disgust and spite. "Laughable." His blue eyes were vicious. "The Millennium Items are the swords of those who host evil..." Then the eerie fury melted into maliciousness. "Those who use the magic must be careful." He smirked. "Wonder why?"

Mariku sneered, not understanding a word. He glanced at Isis, and saw with a start that there were tears in her eyes.

"The one branded as justice may be the one without any. The opponent's justice could be dependent on the situation." His eyes glittering, he continued, "No one knows the borders from evil and justice. The six priests behind you are considered arbiters of justice. In those, there could be ones who would betray you?"

"What are you implying?!" shouted Akunadin, and all the Priests looked angry. "We are loyal to the all-mighty Pharaoh!"

Nahkti snickered, obviously not believing that. "So you say. I have my own brand of justice, Pharaoh...and my own reasons for what I do."

"Justice, you say," sneered Atemu. "That is what is laughable, Nahkti." His face twisted. "Brute strength!" he yelled. "Where is justice in the things you do?" His garnet eyes blazed as he declared, "I will not forgive your crimes!"

"Diabaundo!" cried Nahkti. "Rasendhadou!" The attack had no effect whatsoever.

"Bakura..." Atemu's voice was spiteful. "Whatever your brittle idea of justice is, Obelisk will teach you the truth."

The air filled with energy, and it didn't take an imbecile to figure out Obelisk was preparing to attack. Even Nahkti looked afraid. Just Isis and Atemu himself retained their calm as Atemu shouted, "Fist of Fate!"

The howling wind grew to a roar, and the boulder-sized fist slammed out to strike...

Terrified, Namu cried out a single word-"Nahkti!"

Gold light filled the room. Flames of the light licked at Obelisk's body, and it vanished. Everybody turned to stare at the source of both sound and light, and even Isis was stunned when she saw.

"Malik!"

Everybody turned to stare at her. "Malik?" cried Mariku. "What the heck is a 'Malik?'"

Though Nahkti himself was quite stunned, recognizing the name from his...vision?...he wasn't stupid, and he knew an opening when he saw one. Activating one of Diabaundo's special abilities, he sprinted forward at super speed and grabbed Namu by the shoulder. In an instant, they were both gone.

Namu gripped the sapphire cloth over Nahkti's white robe as they skimmed over mountain, dessert, and field seemingly at the speed of light. Nahkti gripped his shoulder so tightly he felt sure he was going to get bruises. Miles passed in minutes before they landed on a cliff several miles from the palace.

Namu immediately tried to free his arm from Nahkti's near-crushing grip, but Nahkti simply tightened his fingers until Namu gave up and slumped against him. When he did, Nahkti barked, "Why didn't you tell me you had that power? How did you do that?"

"I don't know!" Namu cried, struggling again to pull away. He was unsuccessful, and sighed in acquiescence as he regained his breath before continuing. "I-I was scared and that...that light came out of me. I don't know how it happened!"

"And why, exactly, were you scared?" snapped Nahkti, though he released Namu.

Namu rubbed his arm and scowled at Nahkti. "Because I thought you were going to get hurt! It isn't fair, you shouldn't have to fight against seven people! Especially not when you only have one monster and they have so many!"

"Yeah, well, life isn't fair," Nahkti retorted, but his eyes softened nevertheless. "And Diabaundo is mightier than any of the Priests' creatures. I made the challenge, even if I didn't know just what I was getting myself into. I had heard legends of the three mysterious Gods...but legends can be misleading."

'Yes, they can,' agreed Namu silently. Maybe Nahkti was a terrible person, but he wasn't like the Thief King of legend. He did have kindness, however slight. Namu could see it in his eyes when he looked at him.

"Nahkti."

Namu and Nahkti both jumped at the unexpected sound and turned. Namu gasped in horror.

The man's face was ancient and wrinkled, and he looked like a rotted corpse. His white beard and mustache and long white hair and the Millennium Eye in his right eye made him slightly resemble Akunadin, but the other eye was a gaping pit. His outfit was like ancient armor, with a large Millennium Eye on the chest. If Namu wasn't surprised enough by the man's hideous appearance, he was absolutely stunned when Nahkti sank to his knees and bent his head.

Glancing up, he tugged Namu's sleeve. "Bow," he hissed.

Namu obeyed, not taking his eyes from the hideous stranger. Who was this dreadful creature? And why was Nahkti bowing to it/him? Until this very moment, he would never have believed Nahkti would bow to anyone.

"You seemed to have picked up a very disrespectful little child," the stranger said in his dead, snarling voice. Namu bristled slightly. This strange creature terrified him, and it was all the worse that Nahkti was bowing. And, strangely, the fact that Nahkti was bowing also made him mad. It just didn't seem right that someone like him was bowing, especially to this...thing.

"I know," said Nahkti softly, not taking his beautifully blue eyes from the ground.

"Who is this boy?" the man continued, his voice ever unswerving. Namu tensed up as the man's face got very close to him. He smelled like a rotting corpse as well as resembling one. "No, never mind. A beautiful little child with light silky hair and magnificent purple eyes...you are Namu."

Namu nodded, not trusting himself to speak or even breathe. It was a great relief when the man pulled away and turned back to Nahkti.

"I'm surprised, Nahkti. I came here to deliver congratulations upon inserting me into the Millennium Eye and making me the other side of the Priest Akunadin. He will willingly aid me in the end, if he wishes his son Seth become king. I understand that you needed to keep the Chosen One alive long enough to make him open the former Pharaoh's tomb, but I thought you would kill him after. I did not expect that you have fallen in love with the child."

Namu couldn't keep back a gasp. He glanced at Nahkti, and saw with a start that he was blushing. But he simply murmured, "Yes, Necrophadisu."

'Necrophadisu' turned his face back to Namu, then turned away and started walking-or gliding, for there was no way anything could move that easily in armor-in a circle, his long fingers clasped behind his back as if thinking.

Then he turned back to Namu. "You will pretend to be a palace servant and help steal the Millennium Items."

"What?!" cried Namu in disbelief.

Necrophadisu's huge hand swung out so fast Namu didn't even see it coming. But he felt it-did he ever feeling. The mere force of Necrophadisu's strike pushed him back about three feet and he landed on his back. He rose onto his knees, his cheek aching. There was already a bruise rising, and it took everything he had to keep from crying in pain.

"You don't know your place, child," Necrophadisu spat, then turned his empty one-eyed gaze to Nahkti. "You have trained this child poorly. I expect him ready in three hours."

***

Nahkti frowned. Namu hadn't said a single word since they had seen Necrophadisu. It was highly irritating-and highly disturbing.

"Would you say something?" he snapped as he tied the sash tighter around Namu's waist. Namu glanced at him, then turned his eyes away again. Well, it was the first time he had even peeked at him for two hours.

"Like what?"

His voice sounded dull and dead, with an underlying layer of pure pain. Half of Nahkti wanted to shake him by the shoulders, the other half wanted to wrap his arms around Namu and take all the pain away. Whatever percentage of him was left said, "I don't know. Something. How much you hate me, how stupid this is, how uncomfortable your outfit is-something."

Namu didn't reply, but Nahkti could see tears beginning to fill his eyes.

He sighed. How was he supposed to handle this? He couldn't disobey Necrophadisu, but he couldn't tell Namu to run away or the boy would probably die. But he didn't want to force him to do this-it just wasn't fair.

"This wasn't my idea, Namu." His voice was low, sad. "I never meant to do this to you."

"I know," Namu muttered, picking at the diamond-studded bracelet he had to wear. Silver jewelry wasn't very attractive against his bronze skin. "I'm not blaming this on you." He sighed, and there was a long awkward silence.

At last, Namu spoke. "Why do you listen to him?"

"Huh?" Nahkti replied, entirely stumped.

"Necrophadisu!" Namu cried, whirling around and catching Nahkti off-guard. "I would never have imagined you listening to anyone, but you do listen to him! You bowed to him! Do you know how disturbing that is? What kind of creature is he, that you obey him? I asked you what I am to you, now tell me. What is he?"

Nahkti sighed deeply. "He is the one who will give me the power I desire." Seeing Namu's mystified expression, he inquired, "I take it you've heard legends of the Thief King?" Namu nodded, still puzzled. "Well, I'm the current Thief King. But the one in legends-that isn't me. It's him."

"Terrific," Namu muttered, his slim fingers fumbling with the big dangling golden earring he was trying to put on and turning away from Nahkti. "Just terrific. I'm going to get myself killed."

"Not if I have any say in it, you aren't."

"But you don't, do you?" Namu gazed up at Nahkti again, looking small and vulnerable but still calm. "You have to listen to him, because he'll make you powerful. You have to listen to him, so I have to listen to him. Neither of us have any say in this."

Nahkti sighed. "Well, simply put-yeah, that's pretty much it." He touched Namu's shoulders. "This will be over someday, Namu. I won't let you get hurt. I-" the words caught in his throat for a moment, then he said softly, "I love you."

Namu made a tiny, surprised sound as Nahkti pressed their mouths together again. But by now he had decided he liked Nahkti's kisses and forced himself to relax. He would just enjoy it while it lasted.

It lasted a fairly long time, even though they both felt like they were going to suffocate. Namu bent slightly as Nahkti sank to his knees before releasing him.

Both flushed, breathing heavily, they gazed at each other.

"Oh," whispered Namu.

"Oh indeed," agreed Nahkti.

The palace door opened slightly, and Namu saw the Priest of the Millennium Eye Akunadin. From what Nahkti had told him, he now knew that Necrophadisu was possessing Akunadin.

Namu smiled shyly at Nahkti, before turning and entering the palace.
