Chapter 1

~Yugi's POV~

"Why you little…! How many times I have to tell ya…!" My father didn't finish his sentence as he slaps me hard on my left check. He always been mad at anything I did, sometimes when I didn't do anything to deserve it. It wasn't always like this, not when my mother was alive, and yet she had been dead for nearly two years now. Before that dad never been this mean to me. "I want you to clean this mess before I get home or… Ahhh!!! I'll figure out your punishment later!" I watched as he left the house, properly going to have a drink with his pals like he always did. I looked around the messy room and sighed. I didn't make this mess. There was many times since my mom died and dad started to act this way that wanted me to run away, but where would I go? I didn't have any other living relatives now, I use to have a grandpa but he died of a heart attack a year ago. So if I did run where would I go? But I had no choice now; I didn't want to stay here much longer. I ran to my room and grabbed many of my things I own, which wasn't much, and ran out of house never to return.

~Normal POV~

Yugi ran down the street as fast as his little legs could go. Yes he was just a teenager, but he was small for his size, and on top of that his body still ache from the betting he gotten from his father. Just as Yugi ran around a corner he ran into the local bullies that would bet him up more before and after school. "Well, if it isn't the shrimp." One said with an evil smile and a laugh "Your betting wasn't until nine tomorrow, but I guess we can make room in our schedule for ya for right now." Yugi gulp as the group of taller teens started to slowly gang up on him.

~Yami's POV~

My friends, Bakura and Malik, and me were heading down the street after seeing a late night movie and were heading the long way home. It was obvious a chilly night since I pulled my school jacket closer around me since I wear just a black leather tank top underneath it, even though it wasn't part of our school's dress code. As we head down one street I stopped dead in my tracks, I sense something wasn't right near by, out of the three of us I started to sense these short of things since I had grew up most of my life with abusive parents, I still have the scars to show it, but they were nicely hidden under my tank since they were only on my back and chest. "Something wrong, Yami?" Malik asked me.

I nodded slowly. "I sense something not right." I said. Before I could say anymore we heard a cry of pain in the near by alley. We ran down the street, and when we got there we saw some teenagers from a different school betting up this poor kid. I was amaze that the small boy looked almost like me when I was his age and old memories of my rotten childhood filled back into my memory; at that time anger fill every part of my body and soul. I ran and kicked the nearest bully hard in the chest; I learn how to fight from Bakura and Malik, who join in to get the other bullies. As the bullies ran I turn all my attention to the small boy whom was still cowering in fear and in pain still sitting there on the ground. I slowly knelt down in front of the boy. "It's okay," I said slowly and gently trying to clam the frighten boy "We're not going to hurt you." For some odd reason this was the first time I ever showed any kindness towards anyone, expect to Bakura and Malik of course, maybe cause I was never showed any kindness by my parents perhaps. But something about this boy made me start to act this way.

~Yugi's POV~

I stared helplessly and still scared out of my mind at the three teens that had came and got those bullies off my back. I didn't know why I was still scared, but for some odd reason I slowly started to clam down and not being so frighten anymore as I stared into those crimson orbs of the taller, older version of me knelling in front of me. For some reason I started to feel safe every pasting moment as I stared into those eyes. "You okay little one?" the boy with white hair and brown eyes asked as he and the teen with long light almost white blond hair and light violet eyes slowly walked up to us.

What happen next I didn't have any control of as I imminently dove onto the taller, which gave me a protective hug as I berried my head into his strong chest. "Bakura…" I heard him started to say as I felt the top of my head being gently stoke, with for some odd reason I didn't mind at all "Don't be frighten of those two, okay little one." I slowly nodded, for some odd reason I didn't mind him calling me that. "What your name?"

"Y-Yugi Mouto…" I said with a sob as I looked up into his crimson eyes again, and once again I started to clam down again.

He smiled at me. "I'm Yami and those two are my friends Bakura and Malik." He said.

"Were do you live Yugi, so we can take you home?" other boy, Malik had asked me. Once again fear when up my spine and once again berried my head in Yami's chest again.

~Normal POV~

Yami, Bakura, and Malik blinked in confusion. Yami looked down at Yugi still in his arms. "What's wrong little one?" Yami asked the boy.

"P-Please…" Yugi sobbed and pleaded at the same time "p-please don't… I-I don't want to go home…."

Yami was confused at this then saw Yugi's things on the ground near by. "Are you running away from home, Yugi?" Yami asked. Yugi nodded slowly. "May I ask why?"

Yugi was quite for a while until he said slowly as he sobs, "M-My dad… H-He's very mean… H-He will bet me worse then those bullies…."

~Yami's POV~

Anger once again fills me again; this was all too familiar to me. Yugi was not only looked like a younger version of me, he also suffers from an abusive father, even though I have suffered more from both my parents. "Do you have anywhere to go Yugi?" I asked him.

Yugi slowly shook his head. "B-Both mom and grandpa is dead…" he started slowly with a sob "I-I have no other family…" He looked pleaded up at me with his innocent violet eyes, and my heart melted. "P-Please don't send me home…."

I smiled a small smile at him. "No," I said "We're not going to send you home. You don't dissever a father like that."

Yugi smiled weakly up at me. "T-Thank you…" he said and then fainted in my arms. I smiled a small smile, took off my jacket and wrapped it around his small frame, for he too only wear a tank top.

I stood up slowly and gently with the small teen in my arms. I looked over at Bakura and Malik. "You sure you want to do that Yami?" Malik asked me "It's kind of chilly out and you…"

"Let's worry about Yugi," I said "And we're not far from home anyways." The two nodded, Malik quickly gather Yugi's things from the ground and we once again headed off to home. Don't worry little Yugi, I thought as I slowly glance at him in my arms as we walk I'm going to make sure NO one will hurt you again. I don't want you to suffer any more unlike I had.
