Under the Mistletoe
Chapter Eight - …Meet me…
Thursday, December 22 - Day 3 and counting down…
Yugi sighed as he leaned up against the chair in the dentist's waiting room. He did not want to be there but this appointment to have his teeth cleaned was made a month ago and he knew that he needed it done. At least the youth knew that he did not have cavities despite the amount of sweets he tended to eat in the course of a day. He yawned lightly as he stared at a blank wall, waiting for a nurse or someone to call him.
Just as he was about to pick up a magazine to read, a familiar face appeared in the dentist's waiting room. The spiky haired duelist sighed softly and smiled at the young girl who sat across from him. Her friendly gaze settled on him and she smiled widely in return.
"Hi Yugi," Serenity Wheeler replied softly as she picked up a magazine. "Getting your teeth cleaned today? I'm getting my teeth x-rayed."
Yugi smiled gently at the young girl and nodded. "Yeah…it shouldn't be too bad. Just remember, when the dentist tells you to bite down while taking those x-rays, make sure that he doesn't have a finger in your mouth [1]. That happened to him the last time he took mine."
The young girl laughed sweetly at the story and nodded. "Okay, I'll remember that."
At that moment, Yami walked into the lobby and sat down next to his hikari. He smiled gently at Serenity before facing Yugi. "Aibou, how long is this going to take?" the spirit asked quietly. "I don't know if I put in enough money in that…what did you call it…parking meter."
The young duelist chuckled for a moment before smiling at his darker half. "I think that I'm the next one the dentist calls, Yami. It shouldn't be that much longer…I'm just glad that Grandpa left his keys for his car where we could get them. I really miss my car."
"I know, aibou, I know," the spirit remarked as he looked around and grimaced. Seto Kaiba walked into the lobby with Mokuba right behind him. "Oh…it's you, Kaiba."
Seto gave the crimson-eyed Pharaoh a very mild glare before taking a seat next to him and Yugi. He then turned his attention to the shorter of the two tri-color haired males. "Why are you here, Yugi?"
Yugi shrugged as he gave the brunette a glance before picking up a magazine. "I'm getting my teeth cleaned today," he answered the CEO quickly. "It's something that I need to have done…thankfully, this dental office sets up payment plans for those who can't pay the entire amount the same day at the appointment."
Before Seto could say anything else, the lady behind the appointment window came out. "Will Yugi Mutou please come to the back? Doctor Feuer [2] can see you now," she replied and smiled as the short duelist stood up and walked over to her. She then led Yugi through a set of doors and into the back, leaving Serenity, Mokuba, Yami and Seto alone…
Yugi walked through the doors about an hour later and tilted his head to one side at the sight before him. Yami and Seto were actually engaged in a civil conversation. Serenity and Mokuba were both apparently at their respective dental appointments because they were nowhere to be seen. He was about to walk up to the receptionist and schedule another appointment when someone cleared his throat to get his attention.
"Yugi, you said that you chose this dental office because they set up payment plans, correct?" Seto asked the petite youth. When the duelist nodded, the taller began speaking once again. "You know, Yugi…I can afford to pay all of your medical bills for you. Just say the word and I'll do it."
Before Yugi could say anything, Yami sighed loudly and walked in front of the tall brunette. "Look, Kaiba, I know why you have been kind to my hikari lately."
The cobalt eyed young man stared down at the ancient Pharaoh and made a scoffing noise. "Yami, don't make any assumptions on why I've been `kind' to Yugi," he remarked acidly, his eyes boring into the spirit. "It's the Christmas season. Is there any law saying that I cannot be nice at least once?"
Yami scowled for a moment and rolled his eyes. "When have you ever been nice? Except for that present you gave Yugi a few days ago."
Yugi sweat dropped as he watched his Dark begin an argument with Seto. And it appeared to be over him. But why was the question. He knew that Yami cared deeply for him, but he had been curious about the reasons why the CEO of Kaiba Corp was being nice to him. Just as the petite duelist was about to break up the argument, Ryou entered the waiting room with his dark spirit, Bakura.
`Just great…I hope that they won't start a fight in here,' Yugi thought to himself as he watched the silver haired Tomb Robber advance upon the ancient spirit.
"So, the perfect Pharaoh needs his perfect teeth cleaned?" Bakura sneered, his dark eyes boring deeply into Yami.
Yami turned to face the thief and scowled darkly. "No, I am here because Yugi needed to be here," he explained, his crimson eyes narrowing.
"Yeah…riiight. I know that Yugi has perfect teeth," Ryou's Dark remarked, an insane look appeared in his eyes as he smirked.
The spiky haired Pharaoh stalked over to the silver haired spirit and glared. "And what makes you say that, Tomb Robber?" his voice deepening, the tone becoming dangerous.
Yugi began to blush slightly when he realized what the silvery haired spirit was talking about. He rushed in between the two and placed a hand on their chests. "Please, don't fight in the dental office," he pleaded quietly as Ryou gently pulled his darker half away.
Ryou stared up at Bakura; his doe-like eyes appeared to be sad. "Bakura, you promised that you would be good today," he replied softly. "Just be patient, okay?"
Bakura grumbled a moment before glaring at everyone else in the room. "Fine…you better do what you promised me, hikari," he mumbled as he forcefully plopped himself on one of the chairs in the room.
Seto just shook his head as his little brother came walking out from the back. "Okay, big brother, no cavities for me," Mokuba grinned as he ran to the brunette and hugged him. "Can I have some pocky then?"
The CEO rolled his eyes and led his little brother outside. "You get good news from the dentist and you think that you'll get a treat?" he asked sarcastically as he opened the door and both of the Kaiba brothers left the dental office. But before Seto left the room, he turned back to look pointedly at Yami and then left. The look puzzled Yugi for a moment as he sighed and went over to the receptionist and filled out the forms for payment.

Yugi glanced around the arcade smiling, feeling better now that he was no longer at the dentist's office. When they left, Yami suggested that they go there to relax and have some fun before they go back home. The smaller of the two agreed readily and was glad that he had brought his dueling deck with him so they could both play Duel Monsters if anyone challenges them.
He was passing by one of the dancing games, Dance Dance Revolution, when he spied a familiar looking blonde playing the game. He then walked slowly over to the machine and leaned against a nearby pillar to watch the dancing. Yugi smiled softly to himself as he watched Malik move in time to the music. The last few times that he had contact with the Egyptian were actually pleasant for a change. That was when he thought that maybe they could actually be friends.
"Nice moves, Malik," the petite hikari remarked when Malik finally finished with DDR. "I didn't know that you liked to dance."
Malik chuckled and tilted his head to one side, looking at Yugi thoughtfully. "No one really knows what I like," he answered cryptically. "What are you doing here? Spending times with your friends?"
Yugi shook his head. "I'm just here with Yami. It was his suggestion to come here after my visit to the dentist."
Lavender eyes sparkled with mirth. "I would want to do something fun after going to see a dentist. The last time I saw one, I sent him to the Shadow Realm." Malik laughed hard when he saw the stricken look on the tri-color haired youth's face. "Well, he DID try to poke this huge needle into my mouth…"
"You're impossible," Yugi mumbled under his breath and then smiled at the Egyptian. "Hey, you want to hang out for awhile? Yami headed directly for the dueling arena to duel anyone who wants to play."
Malik snorted. "It figures. Bring that Pharaoh to a place that has a shit-load of games and what does he do? He goes off to play Duel Monsters."
Before the petite duelist could say anything, Seto Kaiba marched out of the dueling arena angrily with Yami following the taller male. It was apparent that Yami had beaten Kaiba once again at Duel Monsters and the CEO was probably upset about it. That and the fact that both of them were yelling at one another.
"I TOLD you that I was going to win, Kaiba," the ancient spirit commented when he was close to Yugi. "Why must you insist on dueling me? And why are you being nice to Yugi lately?"
Seto stopped and then whirled around to glare at Yami and sighed. "Why? It's because I must! You keep defeating me time and time again. I need to defeat you; it's one of the things that been driving me. As to why I have been nice to Yugi, it's because so YOU can see that I can be nice if I so choose. That's another thing that has been driving me."
Yugi and Malik glanced at each other and then stared at both Yami and Seto. "This is getting interesting," the Egyptian whispered. Yugi just nodded as he continued to watch the events unfold before his eyes.
Yami became slightly confused at the brunette's statement. "What do you mean?"
The tall duelist rolled his eyes in exasperation and then stared into the spirit's crimson orbs. "It is because I have an interest in you, Yami. You are unquestionably a person worth getting to know and to get…close to, unlike some of your companions."
Yami's eyes widened at the CEO's confession while Yugi and Malik looked shocked. The spirit recovered his composure after a couple of minutes went by and sighed.
"Seto, I'm just not interested in you in that way." And the ancient Pharaoh walked away from the tall brunette. He headed for the exit and glanced at Yugi. "Aibou, I'm going home now. Come along."
Yugi looked at Kaiba, who had a blank expression on his face and then back at Malik before returning to look at his dark. "I think I'll stay here for a little while longer, Yami. Malik will give me a ride home, right?" he asked as he twisted his upper body to glance at the Egyptian who nodded in agreement.
Yami narrowed his crimson eyes at Malik and then nodded wordlessly at his Light before exiting the arcade. When he was gone, the brown haired CEO clenched his fists tightly before leaving the two hikaris alone.
"That was rather…strange," Malik remarked, his tanned face showing slight confusion. "I would have never thought that Mr. Stick-Up-the-Ass would like anyone other than himself and his runty brother."
Yugi made a face and shrugged. "Me either, but no one really knows what Kaiba thinks."
"True, true. However, with that bastard's attitude, who would want to get to know him?" Malik smirked.
The diminutive duelist giggled innocently and smiled at the blonde. "Anyway, how about we go play some games? I really don't want to go home right now…"
Malik's lavender eyes lit up for a brief moment and he grinned mischievously. "Let's play DDR," he suggested. "I just know that I'll beat you on this game."
"You're on," Yugi chuckled, his smile wide. "Téa taught me how to play DDR a few months ago. You'll be in for a shock, Malik."
"Ooh, I just love challenges, little one," the taller joked as he led the tri-color haired teen over to an empty DDR machine.
Yugi gaped at the blonde for a moment before following. `Malik just called me Little One…I wonder…' he thought to himself as the game and music began playing…
Two hours passed and the two teens were finally finished playing DDR. Both of them had a light sheen of sweat on their faces as well as huge grins. They came to an agreement that it was a draw between them and promised to have a rematch at a later time. Yugi was surprised at how well he and Malik were getting along. He reasoned that it could be that the other was just lonely and wanted friends. The blonde also did not threaten to send anyone to the Shadow Realm during the time in the arcade and he took that to be a good sign.
For the rest of the afternoon, the two new friends played regular video games and played one game of Duel Monsters. That match left Malik grumbling on how swiftly Yugi defeated him and left the petite teen trying not to giggle at the blonde's newfound grumpiness. After a couple of moments, Yugi could no longer contain his mirth and started laughing. This earned him a glare from the Egyptian.
Suddenly, Yugi found himself caught in a headlock. He tried to squirm away from the hold but to no avail. Malik chuckled playfully as he dragged the small duelist to the exit and then outside. He then dumped Yugi into a nearby snowdrift and laughed. It was an infectious sound that made the smaller begin to laugh as well.
"I had so much fun today, Malik," Yugi laughed as he stood up and brushed the snow off of his pants and jacket. When he gazed over at the blonde hikari, his laughter died down when his saw a wistful expression on the other's face. "Are you okay?" he asked.
The taller of the two blinked for a moment when Yugi's question finally registered on his brain. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine, little one. I was just pondering about something that I wish I could have."
`There's that little one comment again,' the young duelist mused. `I…I don't know how I feel with him calling me that…he's a friend…right...?' His amethyst eyes blinked several times when he realized that a hand was being waved in front of him.
"Earth to Yugi, is anyone there?" Malik asked. A look of concern showed on his features for a fleeting second before his usual smirk appeared.
Yugi blinked again and gave his friend a sheepish grin. "Yeah, I'm here…I was just thinking."
"Stop that."
"Stop what?"
"Stop thinking."
"Excuse me, but why should I stop thinking, Malik?" the short teen asked with a confused tone in his voice.
The blonde Egyptian grinned. "Thinking kills brain cells."
Yugi made a face at Malik and then gave him an innocent-looking smile. "That would explain everything about you."
The taller mock punched the young duelist in the arm and glared. "And what do you mean by THAT comment, little one?"
"You must have been thinking so much in your life that you probably have little or no brain cells left," Yugi mentioned casually while slowly inching away from the blonde. "Well, maybe you have at least one active brain cell. Your body has to move somehow."
Malik's left eye began to twitch violently as he bent over and scooped up some of the dirty snow that was on the sidewalk. "I am going to make you pay for that," he said in a dangerous tone. However, that was offset by the playful sparkle in his lavender eyes.
"EEP!" Yugi squeaked loudly and began to run down the street with Malik close behind…
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It was getting dark by the time Yugi arrived at his home. He was extremely cold and soaked to the bone but there was a huge grin on his youthful face. He had a great time just hanging out with Malik and wondered when the Egyptian actually became a halfway decent person. He mentally shrugged at that thought and realized that the front door was locked. He became a little confused for a moment and then opened the door, looking back as he spied Malik starting up his car. After shutting the front door, he then immediately went up the stairs to the bathroom. He then took off all of his wet clothes and took a hot shower to warm up.
A few minutes later, the petite teen stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his midsection after drying himself off; however, his hair was plastered around his face instead of its usual spikes. After he got out of the bathroom, he realized that the house was rather quiet.
"Yami? Are you here?" Yugi called out. When he got no response, he went down the stairs in search of his darker half. One lamp was on in the living room and the lights in the kitchen were on as well. His curiosity piqued, the tri-color haired duelist entered the kitchen and saw a small box on the table along with an envelope with his name on it and a hastily written note from Yami.
Yugi picked up the note and began reading it out loud. "Yugi, I'm sorry for not being here when you get home but Joey called and needed me to get a few things for his little get-together that he's having tomorrow night and help set it up. Why he didn't want to wait to have you come along as well, I don't know. Anyway, I should be home by tomorrow morning. So, you just order pizza for dinner. Love, Yami. P.S. You got another gift from CA."
The teen sighed and wrinkled his nose. He did not really want to be alone at the moment and he wanted to talk to Yami about his day. `Oh well…hey, I got another gift from Christmas Angel,' he thought excitedly. Yugi gingerly picked up the small box and eyed it carefully. Not wanting to wait any longer, he opened the box with anticipation and pulled out a delicate looking bracelet [3] made out of sterling silver. All around the band was an engraving of Yugi's name in hieroglyphs. At first glance, the silver bracelet gave the impression that it was a rather simple item. But when the teen looked at it closely, tiny amethyst chips were inlaid into the bracelet between the hieroglyphs.
"Wow," Yugi whispered to himself as he snapped the bracelet onto his left wrist. He then waved his arm around slightly just feel the cool metal brush gently against his skin. He sighed happily as he picked up the envelope and tore it open and pulled out the letter inside and began reading it.
`Dear Yugi,
Once again, I spied upon you when you received your latest gift yesterday. I am drawn to you like a moth to a flame. I do hope that you WILL be my flame…I would not mind flying around you even if you burn me. Just the thought of being close to you warms me in ways that I never once thought possible.
Once again I give you a gift that is silver. Like I had stated before, silver does suit your skin very well. How I would love to caress that smooth skin of yours in a loving embrace. I would think that your skin would be as soft as silk, except it would be even more precious than that expensive material. You are one of a kind, Yugi, and I do hope that you will be mine and mine alone. And I will be yours and only yours. Maybe…we will be together.
Do you like the amethyst chips that were inlaid into the silver? They sparkle so much that way, just like your beautiful eyes. You are…Oh, I don't know. I feel as if I am starting to run out of things to say to you. I want to so much to make you fall in love with me by my words. I could easily go read some Shakespeare to find the perfect romantic line to say to you. Yet, my heart does not wish to do that. I want to tell you how I feel from deep within my heart of soul but words cannot truly describe my emotions for you.
Nevertheless, it is time for me to tell you another clue about myself. We actually have more in common than you would believe. And what is that, you may ask? One of your friends is also a friend of mine [4]. However, I will not tell you which of your friends it is because that would give me away quite easily.
I am sighing with anticipation as I write this letter to you. We will meet under the mistletoe in two days time. Two more gifts and two more clues I will be giving to you. Soon, my little one, very soon…Until the next gift, I bid thee farewell.
Love with all of my heart,
Christmas Angel'
Yugi smiled dreamily as he folded the letter and placed it back in its envelope. Each letter that would accompany a gift made his heart feel like it was about to burst from his chest in order to find the writer. He began thinking about all of the clues he got so far and he felt like he should know who CA was but it was a shadow that would disappear once he would gaze upon it fully.
The tri-color haired teen got up from the table and was about to go to the phone to order pizza when someone began knocking on the door. Wondering who that could be, Yugi went to go answer it. When he opened the door, his eyes widened somewhat at seeing Malik standing in front of him.
"Malik? What's wrong? Come on in, it's freezing right now," Yugi commented as he grabbed the Egyptian's arm and dragged him inside, completely forgetting about his state of undress. As soon as he closed the door, he noticed how the other was staring at him. "What?"
Malik kept staring at the tri-color haired duelist when a faint blush appeared on his cheeks. His mouth opened and closed several times as he tried to say something but kept holding back. Suddenly, a smirk appeared on his tanned face and he then pointed to the towel that was threatening to fall off of Yugi's hips.
"You might want to keep that towel on, little one," he remarked offhandedly, a wicked gleam shining in his lavender eyes, "because I really don't want to find out if your height represents the size of your `wee-wee' [5], if you catch my drift."
Yugi squealed in embarrassment as he clutched the towel tightly and ran up the stairs and into his room. He was breathing heavily and felt his face heat up from a blush. He had completely forgotten that he only had a towel on and his hair was still wet and plastered around his face. He waited a couple of minutes in order to regain his composure and then put on a pair of dark purple boxers. After rummaging through the blankets on his bed, he found his house clothes, an outfit that was only suitable to wear inside to just lounge around. He then put on the fluffy Dark Magician house slippers Duke gave him a couple of days ago and went back downstairs to properly greet his guest.
"Sorry about that," the Pharaoh's hikari called out, finding the blonde Egyptian in the living room. "I was soaked to the bone and a hot shower was the best way to warm up."
Malik glanced up and chuckled mischievously. "That's quite alright, Yugi. You gave me quite an eyeful," he laughed when he spied the blush on the other's face. "Anyway, do you think I could use your phone so I can call for a taxi? My car decided to die a couple of blocks away and it's freezing. Ishizu left for Egypt this morning so I can't call her to pick me up."
Yugi thought for a moment and a childlike smile graced his gentle features. "Why don't you stay here for the night?" he suggested innocently. "Yami is over at Joey's setting up for a little party-thing that Joey is throwing tomorrow and he won't be back until morning. It's a little lonely without him here."
The Lavender-eyed teen gazed at the other teen with an incredulous expression on his face. "Are you sure you want to do that, Yugi?" he asked, surprise showing in his eyes and face. "That Pharaoh would go nuts and probably so would most of your friends."
"So what? You're my friend too," Yugi answered seriously as he flopped down on the couch and motioned for the other to sit down as well. "Well, I hope you're my friend. You've been nice to me lately and I don't think you mean me any harm."
Malik actually gave the short duelist a genuine smile that lit up his face. "Friends would be too strong of a word at this moment…so we can be acquaintances for now."
"I can agree with that. I got some great movies on VHS and DVD that we can watch…"
"I got something better in mind, little one."
"Oh? And what would that be?" Yugi queried in curiosity.
Malik grinned mischievously and pointed to the phone. "We make prank phone calls on everyone! Or better yet, we go and teepee Kaiba's mansion! HAHAHAHAHA!!"
Yugi sweatdropped at the blonde's reaction and sighed. `He may be sort of a friend now, but Malik is still a bit insane…Yami won't be happy about this…'

Sharem: Wow…nearly 4400 words! Anyway, I am so sorry that it has taken so long for me to update this story of mine. I had been in a slump with it, not knowing where to go and how to make this chapter come out. I knew what I had in mind for it, but it just wouldn't write itself…-_-; Anyhow, I don't have an internet connection at home anymore and the only way I can upload my stories is via the computer terminals at the local library. *grimaces* That also means I can't exactly upload this and any other new chapters to my stories on AdultFanFiction.Net.
[1] - That actually happened to me…I bit the dentist's finger. Well, she DID tell me to bite down...*sweatdrops*

Teaser for Chapter 9:
"What's going on with you and Malik?" Yami asked Yugi in a serious tone. "I come home in the morning only to find that psycho sleeping on the couch!"
"What's wrong, Joey?" Yugi asked, worry lacing his voice.
"It's Mai…she couldn't wait so told me that she's the one sending me those awesome presents," Joey explained sadly. "She told me to keep them, but decided that I'm not the one for her."
