Chapter 1 - No Friends, No life, No Nothing…Except Sadness

The sharp edge of this knife I hold, it's tempting me to cut myself. Bleed myself to death. As I hold it straight my heart keeps thumping… ba bump.... ba bump… ba bump… I have no friends, no life, no nothing. Only sadness. Though I do have a family, My brother Jounouchi lives with my dad and me with my mom. She's always at work though.

Not caring for what I say. It's actually depressing. Ever since I moved here no one liked me. I got good grades and they hated me not only for that but because all the teachers liked me and not one student looked at me with kindness in their eyes. I've gotten emails from Jou saying that Domino City was a great place to stay. Good people and places to go. But here it's nothing like that.

Bad people. You can't go out after six PM here. Who knows what would happen. Though I do. I heard that some kid that was around ten walked outside and their family just moved here, so he was walking and from out of no where came a rope from the top of a building and some guys that held the kid down while they put the rope on him. And so they choked him to death. The next day he was found but the people who did it weren't. More killings occurred.

I ignored them. All I wanted now was to get a scholarship and go to a good art school and college. That was expecting too much. But I didn't care.

I sighed. I can't go through with this. It's hard to kill yourself I know. I've done it a lot of time. I tried everything I could think of! Drowning in the tub, holding my breath, bleeding to death, cutting myself, and even jumping off a building. I couldn't go through with any of that.

I heard people say that you should live life to its fullest and have fun. There will be bad times but also good times!

I sat down and thinking of all the good times that I might have had. When I was with my brother, playing games with him, and when I ran into the one and only Seto Kaiba. That was a nice day. You might think how could have that happened if he lives in Domino which is like an hour away!

****FLASHBACK****

The day had been going bad as usual. Shizuka was walking home from school. It was raining and she least expected it. So she walked into a small shop. Just to stay dry for some time until the rain died off a little. And let me tell you! It was pouring fast and heavily!

If she was going to have to stay she might as well look around. It was a dueling monsters shop. All sorts of dueling things. Cards, little action figures of the monsters, how to draw duel monster books and also posters of them. But what caught her eye was the one Jou was on.

He was holding cards in his hands and was surrounded by Seto and Yugi. They too were holding cards. She remembered that her brother was one of the finalists in a tournament. She kept on staring at it. For some reason she didn't want to take her eyes off of it.

Then the door opened. The small ring of the bell rang through the shop. Shizuka looked up. Even the shop keeper did. They never expected Kaiba and his brother, Mokuba to come in here and in a town like this!

"Mokuba, I why in the world would you come to this place? In this town? It's all creepy and people keep staring at us…"

"But big brother people always stare at us! In Domino they are just used to it! Hey COOL! Can I buy this set of action figures Seto?" Mokuba asked looking p at him with his angelic eyes.

Seto just shook his head, yes and leaned on the wall. He could feel someone's eyes on him. Yeah. He always had the feeling. Just cause he's rich and famous. He quickly opened his eyes and looked around. Besides him and Mokuba, there was the shop keeper and the girl, who was staring at him.

Shizuka knew he knew that he was looking at her so she looked away and walked to where the key chains were.

Yup. Girls did that to him. They either liked him or were scared of him. But the only reason he was how he is was cause of Gozaburo. He sighed as Shizuka passed him to go out the door. It was what? Past six? And she was going outside. He was familiar with this place because of Mokuba's pen pal -.-;; that's the only reason they were here now anyways.

"You know, you aren't supposed to go out at this time especially when it's past six." He spoke quietly so only Shizuka could hear.

Shizuka looked down. "I know, but I have no other way home. My mom is at work and my brother doesn't live here. He's with my dad in another city."

"Then I can take you home. That's if you want to." He said quickly. Actually he didn't know why he was doing this. Maybe cause of her green eyes. They were so big and innocent looking just like Mokuba's except that she was a girl.

Shizuka looked at Seto. She didn't know if she could trust him. But he did have his brother with him. She remembered that Jou was telling her all the reasons why he hated Kaiba. It was over hundred reasons.

Luckily for Seto, Mokuba had bought his stuff and was ready to go.

`I guess it wouldn't hurt.' She thought and said yes to him. All three went into the limo and the driver drove off. First stop was Mokuba's pen pal's house since it was closer.

Shizuka waited in the limo looking out the window.

"Remember not to get high on candy or sugar. And don't do anything bad like throwing paint on people! Don't forget to brush you teeth at night and in the morning. If you need anything call me and don't go out after six. We've been waiting here for three minutes! Is the guy even home? Oh and don't-"

"Seto, I know! You've told me like about ten times at home! And yes he should be home."

After dropping Mokuba off and giving him a brotherly hug, Shizuka thought of Jou and what he said about Kaiba.

`He doesn't seem bad. He loves his brother and he's giving me a ride home.'

After about some time they reached her house.

"You know when you said you had a brother. Who is he?"

Shizuka turned around and said slowly like it was a crime saying Jounouchi's name, "It's Jounouchi Katsuya."

Seto's face kind of fell. He hadn't expected that. "Oh well…" He trailed off he actually didn't know what to say. `How can that mutt have sister like her?' he kept on thinking and staring off to space until Shizuka's voice broke his concentration.

"Well I should be going now." She said heading up the steps to he door.

"Wait!" Seto called after her and Shizuka turned around. "I forgot to ask for your name."

"It's Shizuka." She said staring at his blue eyes (A/N get it BLUE EYES?? -.-;;; Stupid joke)

"Well Shizuka if you need anything just call me." Seto said and gave her his card. With his number and address on it. She smiled and took it.

"Maybe I'll see you sometime!" he said and rode off back to his mansion.'

****END OF FLASHBACK****

She quickly put the knife down. No. She wouldn't do it. She picked up the phone and dialed Kaiba's number. She didn't know what to do now. Call him? Ask for help? She could but then Seto will only think she's stupid.

`I'll do it anyway! I mean I've called him a couple times before and he always helped me why not now?'
