Voglia Di Dance All Night
Chapter One: Only One
Anzu Mazaki was a normal twenty-seven-year-old woman. She had average looks and an average life. She had dreams that had stayed just that - dreams - and dreams that had come true. She wasn't a famous dancer, but she did teach at a school for the performing arts. She had a wonderful boyfriend that was the head of his own law firm heir to the multi-billion dollar gaming company, Kaiba Corp. and she hoped that one day they could get married and start a family.
Most of her friends had left after high school to go to different colleges and live their own lives. They wrote letters sometimes to see how she was doing and tell about what was going on with them. It was always nice to hear from them, to see what they were up to. Lots of her friends had really made something of themselves. And she was happy for them.
Sitting on her bed, Anzu flipped through the pages in a magazine. There was a soft knock on the bedroom door and she stood up, fixing her hair and opening the door. There stood a young man with long, untamed black hair. He was grinning widely up at her, navy eyes twinkling excitedly. "Hi, Mokuba," she greeted, letting him in.
Mokuba returned the greeting and waltzed right in, making himself comfortable by plopping down on the bed. "Brother wanted to let you know that he's taking you out to dinner at eight."
Anzu groaned. "I thought I told him I didn't want to eat out tonight." She went over to her dresser and eyed her reflection in the body sized mirror. Then she looked to the clock. "It's five-fifty and I look like crap."
"Brother loves you no matter what you look like."
The brunette smiled. She loved how Mokuba, even though he was in his twenties, would still called his older sibling "brother" like he used to when he was a kid. It was a habit that she found very cute. "I know he does. But I can't go out looking like this." She turned to the black haired male. "I wish he'd have told me in advance. Uh...Tell him that I'll try and be ready."
Mokuba nodded and left the room.
Sighing, Anzu went into the spacious adjoined bathroom and turned the tap for the bath. Hot water came pouring out of the nozzle, filling the tub slowly. Removing her clothes, she stepped inside the bathtub, letting the warm water sooth her.
"Why did he tell me so late? Usually he tells me in advance because he knows how long it takes me to get ready."
Shrugging her shoulders, she grabbed a bottle of shampoo and poured some into her hands. Scrubbing the shampoo through her hair, she closed her eyes and wondered what kind of place her boyfriend would be taking her.
His name was Seto Kaiba. They had been dating since they had met at her twenty-third birthday party. He had been twenty-five and strikingly handsome and she could not resist his offer to go out with him. A wonderful two years later, he asked her to move into his house, and she did.
The Kaiba Mansion was an amazing place stretching over hundreds of acres. There were two houses - one for the family and one for the staff, a private, indoor Olympic sized swimming pool, two tennis courts, a racket ball court, a track field, a soccer/football field, an indoor basketball court, a private gym, a dance studio (built in especially for her,) and in the main house there were a total of twenty-two bedrooms and nineteen bathrooms. Anzu didn't know why so much space was needed, but when you were rich, you were rich. Why not show it in your house?
Once she was all nicely washed, she Anzu got out of the shower and tied her fluffy white bathrobe around herself. After toweling and blow-drying her hair, she exited the bathroom to pick out a suitable outfit. She stopped in her tracks when she saw a magnificent dress lying across her bed.
"Oh my god!"
The dress was made out of a shimmering forest green material which felt like real silk. Knowing Seto, it probably was real silk of the finest quality. Picking the dress up delicately by the hanger, she held it up to her body. Looking back into the mirror, she smiled widely.
Looking to her dresser, she noticed a diamond necklace and a pair of diamond studded earrings. Also on the corner of the dresser was a small card. She picked it up, smelling a bit of his cologne on the envelope. Tearing it open and gingerly taking the card out, she immediately recognized his neat cursive handwriting and began to read.
Anzu,
Sorry about the short notice dinner plans. I had to change some dinner meeting plants to tonight. I wouldn't ask you to come if I didn't think that it would benefit you, though. Please wear the dress on the bed. Just think of it as a week early anniversary present. I have to meet some clients at the restaurant so the limo will be outside waiting to pick you up around 7:30. See you there. I love you.
Love,
Seto
Placing the card back on the surface of the dresser, she giggled. Looking back towards the dress, she wondered what kind of people they were having dinner with that she'd have to dress up so much for. "I guess I'll find out when I get there."
At exactly seven-thirty, a sleek black limousine pulled up to the front of the Kaiba Mansion. The butler, Mr. Ren, opened the door for Anzu and led her down to the limo where the chauffer, Nikko, took her arm and helped her into the car.
Anzu chuckled as Nikko winked at her and closed the door. He was a handsome man in his mid-thirties with black hair and striking blue eyes. Hailing from Spain, he was one of her close friends in the mansion, even though he was part of the staff.
"Madame... may I be the first to say that you look absolutely divine," Nikko commented with his rich Spanish accent.
The brunette blushed. "Why thank you," she replied. "I hope Seto likes me in it."
The black haired man nodded. "Madame I know your boss. I drive him to work every day, and I know he will love you in that dress." With that said, the limousine took off down the road.
Seto stood nervously outside the Hotel Restaurant Bellevue. It was the most expensive restaurant in all of Tokyo and he was willing to pay every penny for it to make sure tonight went as perfect as it could. Glancing down at his watch, he frowned. 'It's eight-ten! Where the hell is Nikko?'
Straightening his navy blue silk dress shirt, he looked down the road once again. Sighing in relief when he spotted the black limousine pull up, he ran a hand through his hair to try and tame it. 'Okay, okay, okay,' he said in his mind, beginning to pace back and forth. 'You've practiced this millions of times, Seto. You won't blow it now.'
He was knocked out of his thoughts as Nikko opened the door for Anzu. Immediately, he came over and greeted his girlfriend, offering her his arm to take. She did, wrapping both her arms around his and resting her head on his shoulders. "Oh wow," she whispered, looking at the restaurant. "This is beautiful."
Seto nodded. "I'm glad you like it. Unfortunately, my clients had family issues and could not make it so I guess it's just you and me tonight." They reached their table and he let go of her, holding out the chair for her to sit in.
"Shame," Anzu replied sarcastically, sitting down in the chair he held out for her.
Their table was on a balcony overlooking the wooden dance floor and the small stage where an orchestra was playing. Smiling, she looked around the large restaurant. "This place is lovely, Seto."
"Not as lovely as you." She blushed. Seto smiled and took her hand in his. "You look gorgeous in that dress."
The brunette giggled. "Well then you should be thanking yourself for buying it for me." She interlaced her fingers with his. "It really was a surprise. Thank you."
"You're worth it."
The waiter came over and took their drink order. He came back a few moments later with the choice red whine and asked what they would like for dinner. Seto looked over his menu and decided on the French beef, his favorite meal.
Anzu stared at the menu for a good five minutes. "It all looks so good," she admitted, chuckling to herself. "But...um...I think I'll get the lobster with butter and blue cheese sauce."
The waiter nodded. "An excellent choice, ma'am." He wrote the orders down and took their menus, disappearing from sight.
Seto leaned back in his chair. He was beginning to feel a bit nervous, and nervousness was one of the emotions Seto Kaiba had never felt before. It was different. One of the many things he both hated and loved Anzu for - making him different. Changing him from the cold, unsociable workaholic that he used to be. Giving a great sigh, he closed his eyes and tried to think about how he was going to ask her what he wanted to ask her.
"Is something wrong?"
Reopening his eyes, the lawyer quirked a smile. "No. Just stress," he answered truthfully.
Anzu nodded and rubbed her thumb over his hand. "You really need to stop working so much. Between juggling both the law firm and the company, you'll die of a heart attack before you're thirty."
Seto laughed. "I'll be thirty in a month. I hope I don't die that soon."
"I'm serious." The brunette looked away. "You're way too stressed out. You know how much I love you and that I hate to see that you're overworking yourself."
The blue eyed man smiled reassuringly and squeezed her hand. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Now..." he looked out over to the dance floor. "How bout it? Honor me with a dance?"
Anzu's face reddened and she stood. "But of course."
Together they walked down to the large wooden dance floor.
After they had finished eating dinner, Seto and Anzu had headed back down to the dance floor. A slow song had just begun and they swayed back and forth together gently, arms wrapped tightly around each other.
Anzu smiled, resting her head on her boyfriend's chest. "Tonight has been wonderful," she admitted. "Thank you for inviting me."
Seto nodded. "Like I'd come without you," he said, rubbing his thumb against her sides. She giggled and leaned closer to him. "Anzu," he whispered, voice lower than it was before. "There's another reason I asked you to come here tonight."
"You mean besides that you wouldn't be bored as hell during a dinner meeting?" she asked playfully.
He chuckled. "No, no. To tell you the truth, I lied about the dinner meeting. It's still next week with the Kawashimas."
The brown haired woman looked up at him. "Then why'd you tell me that it was tonight?" she wondered aloud.
"Well..." Seto cleared his throat, closing his eyes. "I wanted to make sure you'd come. I was telling the truth my note when I said that this night would benefit you - or at least I hoped it would benefit you. I still hope so...but then again it's all up to what your final answer is..." he stopped, noticing that he was just blabbering. "Okay...I've never done this before so I'm a little nervous." He pulled away from her, gazing into her ocean blue eyes seriously.
Anzu raised an eyebrow. "Seto, what's going on?"
Slowly lowering himself down onto one knee, he reached into his pant pocket and pulled out a black velvet box. Closing his eyes, he opened the box, revealing a white gold ring with a large cluster of diamonds in the middle. There was a loud gasp from his girlfriend. "You know I never do anything rash, Anzu. That's why I waited so long to ask you this...to make sure you were the one. And after four blissful years together with you, I now know that you are. I love you more than anyone in the world. You are the light of my life, my shining star, my-my everything. My life would have no purpose if it didn't have you in it." He smiled and took her left hand, holding the ring out over her fingers. "You made me the happiest man in the world when you agreed to go out with me...please make me an even happier man by accepting this ring and becoming my wife, Mrs. Anzu Kaiba."
Anzu stood shocked, her gaze shifting from Seto to the ring in his hand. She was silent for a few minutes, causing her boyfriend to get worried. Finally, she smiled widely and threw her arms around him. "Yes! YES!!" she cried, hugging him tightly. Tears formed in her eyes and fell rapidly down her cheeks.
Seto stood up, crying as well, and twirled her around. Placing her back on the ground, he grinned. This was the moment he had been waiting for since as long as he could remember. Placing the engagement ring on her finger, he leaned down and planted a kiss on her lips. A kiss that she returned wholeheartedly.
They pulled away to catch their breath, and the brunette stared at her ring in awe. It was absolutely gorgeous! Looking back up to Seto's face, her azure orbs widened when, briefly, she saw someone else's eyes in place of her new fiancé's deep blue ones.
