Voglia Di Dance All Night
Chapter Four: Life of a Salesman
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"Do you have to go?"
Yami glanced over at Isis through the corner of his eyes. It pained him to see the hurt expression on her face, but he couldn't change his mind now. He had to go to that reunion. He had to see Anzu. It was just something he needed to do, or else he would never be able to fully live his life.
The two of them, as well as Sagira and Mosi, were standing in front of the terminal gate of the Cairo International Airport. Yami's flight had just started to board first class passengers, which meant he had to leave now.
Sagira tugged on the tri haired man's jacket to get is attention. "Daddy, do you have to?" she asked imploringly.
Yami sighed, closing his eyes and bending down. Lifting the small girl into his arms, his heart wrenched as she clung to him and started crying. Patting her back reassuringly, he told her that he'd only be gone for a little while.
"Y-you're gonna miss Christmas again!" She wailed, burying her face in his neck.
The fashion designer looked over to Isis for help, but she just gave him an icy glare. "Sagira, I'm sorry," he whispered, using his thumb to wipe the tears from her large eyes. "I'll be back for Christmas, don't worry."
Sagira shook her head. "M-mommy said you'd be gone a month!"
"Sagira, please don't cry. You're breaking my heart."
Mosi rolled his eyes. "Stop acting like a baby, Sagira!" he said.
The blonde haired girl sniffled and rested her head on Yami's shoulder, tightening her grip on him.
The crimson eyed man pulled his daughter off of him and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She giggled, but the tears didn't stop coming. Reaching into his bag, Yami pulled out a stuffed animal he had bought in one of the gift shops. Somehow, he had known that it might come in handy. "Here, you can have this present, okay? And whenever you miss me, you can just give it a hug and it'll be like hugging me."
The little girl took the animal, a blue dog, and hugged it tightly. Isis picked her daughter up and looked back over at the tri haired man. Things between the two of them had been very awkward ever since she kissed them. And even though a month had gone by, it didn't get much better.
Yami bent down and gave Mosi a hug and then he embraced the black haired woman. She blushed slightly, not quite knowing what to do. And she could tell he felt the same way. Finally shaking his head, he leaned over and gave her a quick peck on the cheek.
"Ooh! Yami loves mommy!" Mosi laughed, pointing at the two adults.
Isis smiled weakly and Sagira began giggling. "That's why I call Yami daddy, because mommies and daddies love each other, just like mommy and Yami!"
Yami chuckled and gave Sagira a kiss on the forehead. "Goodbye Sagira," he whispered.
Reaching over from her mother's arms, she embraced Yami tightly. "I'll hug the doggy every day," she promised.
The man nodded with a large smile. He then nodded at the family and walked over to the gate. The attendant checked his ticket and then wished him a good flight. Walking into the gate, he turned one last time and waved, blowing a kiss to his daughter.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Yami was resting back in his chair. The plane had taken off from Cairo almost three hours ago, and every second that ticked by made him grow more and more nervous.
To tell the truth, even though he wanted to see Anzu more than anything, he was terrified of what her reaction might be when she saw them. They did, after all, part on rough circumstances. She hated him; that much she had told to his face the day of their breakup. What if she still felt the same way now?
`More importantly...what will she say if I tell her I still have feelings for her after all these years?'
Running a hand through his tri colored hair, he sighed loudly. `She'll most likely laugh at me. What kind of idiot stays in love with someone who proclaims to hate them and then doesn't even make contact with you for ten years?' Shaking his head, he looked out the window. `An idiot like me,' he answered himself.
"Sir, would you like something to drink?"
Yami blinked and looked up at the source of the voice. A young stewardess was standing in the middle of the aisle with a drink cart, smiling kindly down at him. Clearing his throat, he asked for a cup of coffee and she happily got it for him.
"Would you like any sugar or cream?"
The red eyed man shook his head. "No, this is fine. Thank you very much."
The stewardess nodded and preceded down the aisle with her cart; asking people if they needed anything.
Taking a sip of his black coffee, he smiled in satisfaction. After he finished the drink off, he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.
"It's over, Yami."
Crimson eyes shot back open and Yami bit his lip as the awful memory resurfaced in his mind. Looking back out the window, he smiled as the sun began to set. And that brought another memory to him...one that he was much fonder of.
"Wow, Yami! This place is so beautiful!"
Yami, age seventeen, sat against the trunk of a cherry tree and watched with bright eyes as a brown haired girl twirled around in the grass.
It was a special place he had brought her to. A place only he and his cousin, Yugi, knew about. It was around two blocks away from their house, near a large lake. The trees grew very large and in the winter, like now, they would lose their leaves.
At hearing a dignified huff, he looked up to see the brunette standing in front of him with her hands on her hips. "What kind of gentleman are you?" she snapped, her expression one of playfulness. She reached down and grabbed Yami's arm, hoisting him up.
"What did I do wrong?" The crimson eyed teen asked jokingly.
Anzu smiled widely and pressed her back against his front. She then took his arms and wrapped them around her waist, holding her own hands over his. "You didn't offer to dance with me," she said.
"I apologize," Yami whispered sincerely, pulling her as close as he could. "I didn't know we were dancing, since there is no music."
The blue eyed girl began to move side to side, bringing him with him. They stayed in one spot, swaying gently, and she began humming the tune to their favorite song.
The crimson eyed teenager smiled and hummed with her, his deep voice contrasting greatly with her soprano one. They both started laughing to themselves. Anzu turned in his arms and reached up, wrapping her arms around Yami's neck and placing her head on his chest. He was still humming slightly.
Giggling, the brunette suddenly jumped up and wrapped her legs around her boyfriend's waist. Startled, Yami stumbled back a little bit and held her tightly in case they were to fall. When they didn't, the two teens began laughing once more. Yami chuckled and twirled her around.
Leaning forward, the tall boy whispered a line of their song into Anzu's ear. "This is a way that I say I need you. This is a way that I say I love you. This is a way that I say I'm yours."
She giggled and reached a hand up, moving his blonde bangs away from his eyes. Leaning in, she placed a soft kiss on his lips, and then pulled away slowly. Yami pressed his forehead against hers. "I love you," he whispered.
"I know," Anzu replied, closing her eyes. "I love you too."
This time it was Yami who did the kissing, only this time it wasn't a small peck like hers had been. It was a passionate, heartwarming kiss. One that they had never actually shared before in there full year of dating. Usually, Yami's kisses were shy and playful, but this one was so powerful. Anzu had to admit that she liked this different side of her boyfriend.
Slowly lowering the two of them down, Yami made sure not to break the kiss as he lay down on top of Anzu. When he finally pulled away in order for them to breathe, he began kissing down her neck.
The brunette looked over towards the setting sun, a smile playing on her face. She tangled her hands in Yami's messy hair and attempted to catch his lips with her own before they got to her neck again. When she failed, she let out a small grunt.
The crimson eyed teen started to chuckle and he pulled away from her. Rolling over onto his side, he let her cuddle up to him. Now their attention was focused on the stunning setting sun, and their breaths were jagged and uneven.
"It's beautiful, isn't it, Yami?"
Yami nodded in agreement, then he turned his gaze to her. "Not as beautiful as you."
Anzu blushed fiercely and looked away. She smiled when he placed several sloppy kisses on her cheek and jawbone.
"I love you so much, Anzu," He whispered huskily into her ear. "I want to be with you forever."
The azure eyed girl grinned and nuzzled her face into his neck. "Forever and for always?" She questioned, her eyes alight as she peered up at him from her resting spot.
Yami nodded. "Forever and for always..." he took her hand and laced his fingers through hers. "Or longer, if it's possible," he added.
"For longer than forever, Yami."
Tears began to fall from Yami's crimson eyes. God, he missed her so much. He missed being with her like back then. He missed her smile, he missed her laugh. He missed the way she kissed him and how she would hold him.
He just missed her so much.
He loved her more than anything, and he always would.
"Anzu...."
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
It was a breezy day in Domino. The evening November air was crisp and cool and trees were beginning to lose their leaves. All this Yami noted as he stepped out of the Domino City Airport. Taking in a deep breath, he closed his eyes, momentarily bringing himself back to his teenage years.
"It feels nice to be...home..."
A smile formed on his lips as he thought over his previous statement. Japan wasn't really home to him...but it felt more like that than Egypt ever did. He reopened his eyes after a few moments. After looking around and trying to remember where he was, he decided it was best if he took a cab to get to the game shop.
After hauling one of the yellow cabs down, he gave the driver the address of the shop and they were soon on their way.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Yami smiled as he caught his first glimpse of the Kame Game Shop in over ten years. Jumping out of the car, he paid the taxi driver and ran up the front steps of the shop. He then began pounding on the door.
"We're closed!" A voice yelled from inside.
Sighing, the tri haired man began knocking again.
There was the sound of someone grumbling and footsteps approached. "Some people are so impatient. Why can't just wait `till tomorrow?" a male voice said and the locks to the door clicked open.
The door swung open to reveal a short could-be clone of Yami. Amethyst eyes widened in recognition and a large smile appeared on the young man's face. "Yami?!"
The fashion designer nodded and was quite unprepared when his still-shorter-than-him cousin leapt into his arms. Letting out a small laugh, he hugged the younger back. "Hi, Yugi," he greeted. "Long time no see."
"Very long time!" Yugi was laughing excitedly as he embraced his older cousin. "Oh, here, let me get that suitcase! Come in, come in, Yami!" Picking up the heavier of Yami's suitcases he trudged into the shop with it.
Once all of Yami's things were brought inside and Yugi was calmed down a bit, he brought his older cousin into den and then left to go make some tea. The crimson eyed man sat on the couch across from a pretty young lady with long blonde hair. He fidgeted as she looked him over with her emerald eyes, not sure whether he should speak to her or not.
What was it about Japan that made him such a shy person? Back in Egypt, he was comfortable talking to anybody.
Yugi came back a few minutes later with the tea. After handing Yami his cup, he went and sat next to the blonde girl. Suddenly his large eyes widened and he laughed to himself. "I'm sorry, where are my manners?" He asked aloud. "Yami, this is Rebecca Hopkins," he explained, motioning to the blonde girl. "And Rebecca, this is my cousin, Yami."
Rebecca extended a hand and the older shook it happily. After taking a sip of his tea, Yami asked how Rebecca knew Yugi. The blonde woman smirked and took the shorter tri haired man's hand in her own. "Yugi's my boyfriend," she told the Egyptian. "We've been dating for two years now."
Yugi's ears reddened slightly. Yami grinned. "Congratulations," he said with a grin.
Rebecca raised an eyebrow, not knowing whether the man was joking with them or not. Shrugging it off, she began to ask the older questions. "So, what do you do, Yami?" she asked.
Yami bit his lip uncomfortably. He had a sense that this woman didn't like him very much already. Maybe it was because he had interrupted her and Yugi while they were alone together? He didn't know, but he decided not to let it bother him. "I'm a fashion designer," he replied in a somewhat embarrassed tone.
The green eyed young woman had to hold down her laughter. That was quite funny. Yugi, sensing how uncomfortable his cousin was, decided to change the subject. "So what brings you to Japan?" he asked.
"Well, first off I want to apologize for coming without calling. The reason I'm here is because I got this invitation to this high school reunion thing. Anyways, at first I didn't want to come but then I decided that it might be a good idea to go and catch up with old friends and just see...her...again."
Yugi smiled weakly at the older. "Anzu?" he whispered. He shook his head when he received a nod. "Yami...I-I thought you had gotten over her before you left? You said that...you said you didn't care."
"Well, what I say and what I mean are obviously two totally different things," Yami snapped. He quickly apologized. "I'm sorry...The truth is, I honestly did try to get over her..." He shook his head. "If you don't mind, aibou, I'd rather not talk about it. The subject's a bit painful for me."
The shorter nodded, blushing slightly at his cousin's nickname for him. "Well, then I won't pry into your business." He turned to Rebecca. "Do you want me to walk you home?" She nodded and the two stood up. "I'll see you later, Yami. It's great seeing you again."
Rebecca followed her boyfriend out of the room. "Nice meeting you," she said before exiting.
The tri haired man sighed loudly after the two left. Trudging slowly up the stairs, he found his old room the same as it had been the day he moved to Egypt. Only a bit...dustier. It seemed as though Yugi had taken pretty good care of it while he was gone, though.
Not even bothering to change, he flopped down on the bed and closed his eyes.
Yami wrapped his arms around his pillow and held back the forming tears. "Anzu," he whispered to no one in particular. "Do you think it's possible to still have our forever and for always?"
Yami didn't even realize it, but he fell asleep humming the tune of his and Anzu's old favorite song.
