Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Voices In My Head ❯ Voices.... ( Chapter 1 )
~note
I wrote this to enter a contest by ZellDincht. It's a Yugi suicide/death fanfic, so if you're not to fond of those, you best leave this page here. I myself ain't too fond of them either, but I've been too happy lately. I need to do something that depresses me or something, ya know? I know, Yugi said I was weird too. Anyways, don't mind my total freakiness and review this if you want. I'll try to make it as life-like as possible. Not like that's too hard.....
Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh. Nor do I own the name ZellDincht and the song "I'm With You" by that one dudette, Avril Lavgine..... whatever. Disclaimers bite. *walks away*

~Motou household~
"Yugi, that Kinomoto girl called again!"
There came no answer to Yami's cry. He tried again. "Yugi...! Hello.....?" He searched through out the house. No sign of the little one. "She said to tell you that she wants you to come over and study... uh... whatever it is you're learning." Then the pharaoh tried to sense Yugi through his link. Finally, a reply.
/"Her name is Sakura, Yami."/
Yami shrugged. //"Like I care. Listen, if you're going to her house, I suggest you call back and tell her so."//
Silence.
//"Yugi? Stop playing games like this!"//
~Yugi's POV~
'Heh... baka Yami... thinks he can trick me into thinking Sakura called. King of Games my butt... he's lousy at them...'
I hope that pharaoh doesn't find me.... It's getting annoying how he always manages to stop me before I can even start....
All I have to do is simply, and swiftly, cut my wrists. How hard is that? A lot harder than it sounds. Especially when you have someone who can read your mind. All the more reason for me to just disappear off the face of the Earth....
Depression...... and these voices...... all they do chant! And chant.... I can't stop them anymore! Soon they're just gonna flood the Earth, chanting that baka thing they always say; "It was the donkeys, it was the donkeys, it was the donkeys, it was the donkeys..etc". Why won't they stop?! What was the donkeys?! And why couldn't it be something else?! Like ponies or duckies?!
"Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhh!!! Get out of my head!!!"
They keep saying something's wrong with me.... nothing's wrong with me. It's these voices... they're all in on it together. All of them. Yami, Grampa.... maybe even Sakura. Why can't all of this leave me alone?!
~Normal POV~
Yami grew anxious. What if his hikari was trying to kill himself again? Then what? They said he was just imagining it... that everything that Yugi said was in his head.... What kind of demons could cause someone as sweet as Yugi once was to go insane? And nothing could save him... except himself.....
"I have to stop him! And whatever binds his mind into eternal darkness!" Yami stated. Of course, saying this out loud was sort of silly if you didn't know his current situation. And so, when he said this, Grampa merely looked at Yami weirdly and then continued with his work, completely unaware to Yugi's current predicament.
Meanwhile... with our friend, Yugi-chan.....
"I.... I can't.... cannot stop them.... face me, voices!!!" Yugi was not hiding inside of the house, for Yami had already inspected the entire area. The boy was actually far from home... make that very far from home....
"Yugi, what are you doing on that tree?" asked the oblivious Sakura.
Yugi looked at her. He had forgotten that he had already been at Sakura's home the entire time.
"Oh... I um... was just answering that call," he replied.
Sakura tilted her head in wonder. "But... I just made that call... oh well," she smiled. "Might as well come inside, Yugi!" She motioned towards the open window he was closest to.
"That's onii-chan's room, but if he's not there, and you don't touch anything, he won't notice you've been through."
"Uh... thanks," he remarked. 'If he's not there, well that's reassuring....'
Then, as Yugi was inching towards the window, he saw the ground. And he saw how far away it was. And then he imagined what it would look if he were to take the voices and throw them off of the tree. He smiled at the thought, then decided that's what he could do. So he let go.
"Yugi!!!"
~Yami POV~
I can sense it... Yugi's overcome by the 'voices' he's always talking about. I hope he doesn't do anything too over the edge....
~Sakura POV~
I'm so glad the Windy Card caught him. Whew... that was so close.
"Yugi, what happened there? I saw you stop and then you just fell!" I was scared to death. He could've died... and was that a smirk I saw on his face before he fell? Maybe I should change that 'fell' to 'let go'....
~Yugi POV~
I was so close.... they would've gone. I would've been free...... free from those chants...!
"Why did you do that?!" I tried to make that sound like she was guilty of something horrid.
Sakura looked hurt at that last comment. She should. She had it coming to her anyway... always trying to intercept just when I'm about to become free. Wait... is she... crying?
She tried to speak, but I guess she was speechless. I knew this girl had some kind of conscience. Now she knows better than to interfere with my death wishes.
Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't someone come take me home?
It's a damn cold night...
Trying to figure out this life...
Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new,
I don't know who you are,
But I...
I'm with you...
Why is everything so confusing?
Maybe I'm just out of my mind...
That song... it's playing here? I look around Sakura's room for the source of the music. Of course... it's her bubble-gum pink radio... the one she said Tomoyo gave her. And why is that music so... familiar?
"This song...? Who sings it?"
Sakura's obviously still too scared to answer. Right when I need her answer the most she chickens out. Just great.
"Who sings this song?!"
"A-Avril Lavgine....."
Of course... why didn't I guess...?
~Sakura's POV~
Has he gone insane?! This isn't the sweet little Yugi I knew before... maybe this isn't him. Maybe I'm talking to that other half he has. What's his name? Yami, that's it.
"Y-Yami... is-"
"I am not Yami."
"Then, who are-"
"I don't think I'm even Yugi anymore...."
I gasped at that last comment. How could he not be Yugi? I mean, here he is standing right in front of me! Unless, those voices have gotten to him....
~Normal POV~
Yami tried to focus all of his energy on finding Yugi so that he may get to him in time. Meanwhile, Sakura had to try and deal with a boy who may not even be Yugi anymore...
"If you're not my friend... what are you?" she asked him, still trembling from the thought of Yugi going insane.
"What do you mean by 'what am I'? Do you know how rude that is, onna?" Yugi looked at her face, his eyes like glass. "If you want to know, I am the voice that has eaten up at this boy, Yugi Motou, since he lost against Seto Kaiba at the Duelist Kingdom. Do not fear for him, girl. He is already free from my torture...."
He sounded just like Yugi... except there was something missing. Then, Sakura realized it. This really wasn't Yugi. It was one of those voices in his head. His sub-conscious had found a way to take him over. His insecurities finally revealed.
Then, he grabbed her arm, causing her to cry out in alarm. He looked as though he were getting ready to swing her out the window just by holding that one arm.
"What in the free world has happened to you, Yugi?!"
"F*** the free world, girl! I don't need people to help me!" With that, he let go of her and ran out of her room.
"Yugi!"
He didn't stop running, although he had bumped into Touya on the way down the stairs. But still, he didn't halt. Not until he was out of the house. Then, when he was at least a few houses away from the house, he broke down.
~Yugi's POV~
"What's going on with me?!" I have no idea why I had said those things to Sakura. She was my friend... what was the point of upsetting her like that.... But those voices.... they were getting louder.... telling me what to say..... I can't control what I do anymore!
This is just like when I had first learned about Yami... only this time, I know I cannot find a friend in these voices.... I know I cannot stop what they do. I can direct it another way, but... stopping is a whole different matter.
"Yami! I can't stop them!" I know he won't answer. Not unless he was able to hear that through our link. He can't possibly be missing my emotions, can he? I'd be able to feel this from him anywhere... maybe he just doesn't care....
'It was the donkeys. It was the donkeys. It was the donkeys. It was the donkeys. It was the donkeys. It was the-'
"STOP IT!!!" Those chants, he should at least be able to hear that! They were louder than lightning now... now they were consuming my thoughts. Maybe he won't notice something is wrong until I'm gone.
I'm on a street. The middle of it, in fact. If I'm lucky, the next car won't see me and hit me. Like the dog Seto is always calling Joey. Exactly like that.
~Normal POV~
Yugi walked along the middle of the street. Waiting... just waiting for a car to maybe smash into him.
'This would be a lot easier of I were to just shoot myself or something. Way easier. Hey, if I die, I won't have to take that test on Tuesday....'
Yami finally sensed him.
//"Yugi! I finally found you. Just stay where you are, and I'll come get you, okay? Jeez, that's far. How come you're so far away?" Yugi?"//
Yugi perked his head up for a second when he heard his guardian's voice.
"Like I need anymore voices..."
/"If I stay where I am, I should surely die, that is... if the cars don't go around me."/
//"Cars? Yugi, you're on a street aren't you?"//
/"So you aren't as baka as I thought you were... and to think I would've given you three guesses thinking that you would never have guessed that right...!"/
//"Not funny, Yugi. Get off of that road! Now!!!"//
Yugi could see why Yami was getting hysterical. So much chance of his little aibou getting crushed under a car. And speak of the devil...
Yugi turned his head to the direction of the sound of the car. He had on a similar smirk as the one he wore earlier in the tree. His eyes then became just as life-less as they had before when he was talking to Sakura.
Yami could also sense the on-coming danger.
//"Yugi, get out of the way!"//
Yugi kept his stance and stood still in front of the approaching car. Sort of weird how the driver couldn't have noticed a little boy with bright, spiky hair standing right in the middle of the road.
//"Yugi, stop this!!!"//
/"Goodbye, Yami....-"/
"YUGI!!!!!"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Drunken Panda: Oh my Bob, that was so sad! ;-;
Yugi: I'd never go crazy and kill my self by waiting for a car to hit me!
D. Panda: Who said I was envisioning you in front of the car?
Yugi: Was that a death wish?
D. Panda: No. I was merely predicting my future as I see it.
Yami: So you really think you'd learn to climb a tree by the time you're in high school?
D. Panda: Um... no. I didn't mean literally. It was a joke! I'd never be so frickin' baka to kill myself. Death wishes are for lunatics.
Yami: Like you?
D. Panda: Yes, like- No, not like me. More like you, ya homicidal, stick-this-knife-though-this-money-and-you-win-if-it-doesn't-hit-your-hand freak!
Yami: That was just one season of Yugioh! I've changed! Really!
Yugi: Hopefully, this crazy story wins the contest.
D. Panda: Don't worry! This has got to be the most original idea out of the bunch! ^^
Yugi and Yami: -_-0
D. Panda: ^^;;; TTFN, Kari-chan! I dedicate this story to um... the now dead and used to be crazy Yugi Motou in this fic. May he never be haunted by voices that talked of donkeys ever again....
