Chapter Twelve: Dream a Little Dream

Summary: Raine is plagued by nightmares, who can help the poor girl sleep? Enter our favorite CEO.

A/N: Okay, my hat is off to Gypsy and Rurouni_agra and Yami Kitsune. You two/three are awesome, thank you so much for the reviews, the two/three of you and my room-mate are the ones who keep me writing, Thanks to the others who have reviewed as well, I really appreciate that, but these two/three have been really helpful. And Gypsy, since obviously no one else has come up with a good idea for the Millenium Eye. Eric is the winner of the contest. Just let me know which couple you want the scene to be about, and what type of scene you want it to be. I'll let you know when I'm going to write it. Rurouni_agra and Yami Kitsune, thanks for the information about Exodia. I had read that somewhere, and forgot, or it could be that I was taking liberties with the game, take your pick. Also, since you've been so awesome and have reviewed twice, pick a scene, any scene and let me know who you want in it. Also, I'm sorry about the long wait for this chapter, and I'm sorry that they will not be entering the Shadow Realm until chapter 13. My lucky number, lol. Personal problems prevented me from uploading this last week, I will try to update once a week or more from now on. On with the story.

A thunderstorm had blown into Domino City Japan that night, the thunder and lightening reflected Raine's mood perfectly as she violently awoke from yet another nightmare. This time she hadn't gone into the Shadow Realm, but to a darker place, she could feel the evil that was destined to befall the group of friends at some point in time. It was like the darkness wanted her to know that it would come for her 'family' and that there was nothing that she could do to stop it. She needed to talk to Isis and Shadi sometime today, they needed to be prepared for anything. She wiped the sweat off her brow and looked at the digital clock next to her bed, "Three in the fucking morning, and I know I can't get back to sleep. God Damn it, I need something to drink."

Raine rolled out of bed and grabbed the knee length robe that went with her black nightie and she strode to her door. She walked down the hall-way and started down the stairs, the bedrooms and an open study were all situated on the third floor, while Seto's personal study was on the second, she would have to pass it to reach the stairs that led to the kitchens. She honestly didn't think anyone would be up at this time of night, so she was surprised to see Seto's study door ajar. She walked up to it and knocked quietly.

"Yes, who is it?" Seto's voice came from the darkness of the room.

"Seto, its Raine, what are you doing awake?" She opened the door and entered the study. Seto was sitting at his desk, his body shadowed by the light of the lightening striking the ground, he was wearing a pair of silk sleep pants in a deep blue that set off his eyes, his chest and feet were bare. She sucked in a breath 'My god he's gorgeous. I knew the man looked like heaven with clothes on, but to be that handsome in pajamas, it's sinful. Woah girl, get a hold of yourself. He's not interested in you that way.'

'Oh lord, she is hot. That nightie and robe leave nothing to the imagination. I just want to walk up to her and take her in my arms and have my way with her. Down boy! It's too soon.' Seto smiled at Raine, "I couldn't sleep. I'm assuming the same could be said for you."

"Yea. I'm having a rough time sleeping lately. I was just going to get something to drink. Want to join me?" Raine motioned to the hallway.

"Are you by chance wanting something alcoholic? If so, I have a fully stocked mini bar in the fridge next to the big-screen in here. Just grab what you want, let me finish this last bit of work and I'll join you. Turn on the TV, there must be something on we could watch." Seto smiled as she made her way over to the fridge. He turned to his laptop and started to fill out the last of the requisition forms he needed to get the VR game project up and running.

Raine had to chuckle as she saw the extent of alcohol in the fridge, she finally decided on a bottle of Bacardi Rum, she shut the fridge, grabbed the TV remote off the top of it and flopped down on the black leather couch. She mindlessly started to channel surf and finally settled on a show on Japan's version of HBO. About five minutes later, she felt the couch dip with Seto's weight as he sat down right next to her. She silently moved over to be closer to his warmth, since the study was pretty cool and he raised his arm and after she cuddled into his left side, he placed the arm around her.

"Well, who would have thought that Mr. Cold as Ice could be so warm." Raine teased, and her body shook slightly as he chuckled.

"Yes, who would have thought. So, what prevented you from sleeping?" Seto asked, running his hand up and down her left arm.

"Nightmare. I was in some place darker than the Shadow Realm and this evil presence was taunting me, it was like it was saying I'm coming and there is nothing you can do to stop me. It freaked me out, and what's worse, if I don't get some sleep tonight, Isis, Shadi, Yami, Merrik and Bakura will not let me go into the Shadow Realm and I'm getting sick and tired of hearing Dark-Eyes bitch and moan. Which he is doing so much of."

"Why doesn't he let the healing monsters help him. What about the Mystical Elf or such?" Seto asked, glancing down at the girl of his dreams. She was obviously comfortable, because her eyes were heavy with sleep, and she let out a kitten like yawn. He had to smile.

"Dark's spoiled rotten. He knows he's my favorite card, and likes to flaunt that fact. You forget, I've been having dreams about being in the Shadow Realm for five years already. That's why I'm so accepting of the fact that I was Anakzana in my past life. It also helps that I know that my best friend was also there, Eric's accepted that fact as well, which will make what I have to do soon even easier. I also need to talk to Bakura before we go into the Shadow Realm, I'd like to get this situation with the Scales and Eye taken care of before my grandparents arrive." Raine yawned again and cuddled closer to Seto to where she was nearly sitting on his lap.

Seto just sighed and gently lifted her up to where she was on his lap, her feet resting on the other side of him and her upper body and face resting gently against his chest. Her arms were nestled on either side of him, as if she was hugging him. "You're giving Eric the Eye, aren't you?"

"It belongs with him. Seto, can I ask you a question?" He was intrigued, he had never heard her sound so unsure of herself.

"Ask away." He ran his hands up and down her back in a comforting gesture. 'Yeah right Seto, just keep telling yourself you're just comforting her. You know you really just want to feel her.'

"What's happening between us? I mean, I've never been so comfortable with a man as I am with you. Eric and the others don't count, they are family. What I feel for you is different."

"I don't really know, Raine. I know that I'm attracted to you, and from what Shadi's said, I know that we belonged to each other in the past. I feel like I've came home." Seto sighed again.

"That's exactly it! I feel like I belong with you, like my true strength is when I'm with you." Raine looked up at Seto, her eyes gentle and filled with the need for sleep, Seto dipped his head and brushed his lips against her own, the kiss started out small, gentle, but soon turned into an Inferno, the fires of newly awakened passion burned the new found couple. Seto's tongue sought entrance into Raine's mouth and she willingly gave it. They kissed and explored each other until they had to stop for breath.

"I think, that we've came home, Little Dragon. I know that I never want to let you go. But, you need sleep, and so do I we have a busy day tomorrow." Seto chuckled as she gripped him tighter.

"I don't want to go back into my room, I'm comfortable in your arms, and if you leave, I won't sleep." Raine brushed butterfly kisses over his exposed chest.

Seto groaned, "I never said we'd leave this room, but come on, get up. I'll pull the bed out of the couch and we can rest."

With a little moan, Raine stood up and helped Seto pull out the hide-a-bed. They quickly laid down, the two bottles of rum forgotten, and the TV turned on mute, the two fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms, Seto thought he heard her say something, but he brushed it off as a figment of his imagination, she did not really say, "I love you, Blue Eyes." It was just wishful thinking. But just in case, before he surrendered to the world of dreams, he whispered, "Love you too, Dark Eyes."

Eric stopped in front of Raine's shut bedroom door at nine that morning, he knew she wasn't a real morning person, especially when she was as exhausted as she was last night, so he had told Joey that he would wake her up. He knocked on the door and after receiving no answer, entered.

"Rise and shine, little witch! It's time to go shopping!" No answer came from the bed, 'Now that is strange. She loves shopping.'

"Raine, oh Rainey girl! Time to get up! We have shopping to do." He walked closer to the bed and finally noticed that the bed was empty. "Now where the hell did she go?" Eric walked out of her room and jogged down the stairs, he'd take the short cut to the kitchen, where everyone else was waiting for them to eat breakfast before they got ready for the day. Solomon, Isis, Rashid, and Shadi had stayed the night last night, which they hadn't been doing for a few days, preferring to stay at their own residences since they were closer to work. The young ones had been driven back and forth to the High School and College respectively. As he was passing Seto's study, he noticed the door was slightly ajar, deciding to ask Seto if he had seen Raine, he walked into the study after knocking.

"Seto! You in here?" Eric's voice, pitched slightly louder to warn the CEO that his study was being invaded woke up the occupants of the couch bed. "Have you seen Raine this morning?"

"I'm right here, you nitwit. What's up?" Raine sat up, disentangling herself from Seto's warm body.

Eric did a double take, "Well, I'll be damned. The two of you have a long night?" He chuckled when he received the bird from both of them, "Oh now that is scary, the two of you even think alike."

"Shut up homo. Don't think I don't know about those late night visits to one Noel Blankenship's room." Raine teased as both she and Seto got out of bed.

"Oh, so Eric's hot for the nurse. Interesting. Well, to each their own, I always say." Seto laughed as Eric's fair skin tinted red.

"Shut up you two. It's nine am, and we have shopping to do." Eric and Seto both laughed as Raine jumped up and down.

"Yay! Shopping! Let's go!" Raine started out the door.

"Not so fast! The others are all waiting downstairs, we decided to have breakfast before we got ready. So come on! Solomon and Yugi are making pancakes."

The three exited the study and started down to the kitchens. Once they arrived, the graciously accepted their breakfast and sat down, Eric across from Raine, Seto on her right and Joey on her left. The group exchanged good mornings and they planned out their day, on top of furniture shopping, and stopping by Kanashi Estates LTD, Raine decided she'd take her younger siblings clothes shopping, as an early birthday present. Once the meal was finished and before everyone took off to go get ready, Raine addressed the group.

"I've been having nightmares for the last several days. There is something evil out there, waiting to make its move. We need to be prepared. Also, Bakura, when we go into the Shadow Realm tonight, you must retrieve the eye. It's time for the Eye and Scales to be given to their rightful owners. Can you do that?"

Bakura nodded and Shadi spoke up, "You think they are ready?"

Raine nodded, "I think they are. Now let's eat, we have Shopping to do!" The group ate and afterward all ran back to their respective rooms to shower and change. Surprisingly to Seto, who was the first one back downstairs, Raine was the second person to finish dressing. Seto's mouth about dropped when he saw what she was wearing, 'AROOOOOW' he let out a wolf's howl in his head. She was dressed in a pair of low rise, flared black leather pants, the pants had a Sennen Eye emblem on each pocket and around the cuff of the pant legs. She had on a dark hunter green leather halter top that tied around the neck, left the belly bare, and the front was accented with golden Sennen Eye buttons. Her black trench coat completed the outfit. Her burgundy/black/silver hair was in a messy half French twist allowing the ends to brush freely upon her back. She had two sections delicately curled on each side of her face, it really set her high cheekbones off.

Raine took a moment to check Seto out as she walked down the stairs, he was dressed in tight black leather pants, a dark navy blue silk shirt was tucked into them, his ever-present white trench coat along with a pair of black Dr. Martens completed the outfit. He looked like sin personified. She smiled at him and whistled. "Well, well, Mr. Kaiba, you sure do clean up good. Got a hot date to go on?"

Seto smirked, "As a matter of fact, I'm taking off for a romantic holiday with about ten other people to the Shadow Realm tonight. Why?"

Raine chuckled as Serenity, Tea, Mai, Noel. and Isis walked down the stairs. Serenity was wearing a pair of low rise blue jeans, a black baby-doll tee with the logo of her newest favorite band the CruxShadows on the front and the back was ripped up, her black boots and black leather jacket completed the outfit. Tea was wearing a pair of hunter green low rises, and a tan baby doll tee with the neck line ripped down the front, exposing a bit of cleavage. Mai was in her usual outfit of white leather pants, white halter top and her purple knee length boots and leather jacket. Noel was wearing a pair of flare-legged low rise blue jeans and a pair of black boots and a red button down halter top and a black leather jacket. Isis was in a two piece leather top and thigh-length skirt in a cream color.

"Woah, did everyone dress to impress or what?" Raine chuckled. The girls laughed and Isis pulled Raine aside.

"Are you sure you feel a darkness coming? I haven't had any visions with the aid of my necklace."

"Trust me Isis, you will when it's ready to make its move. You know I've always been more closely tied to the Shadow Realm and my pendent. They wouldn't steer me wrong. The evil is out there, he's just toying with me right now, thinks he's going to get me so paranoid I won't be able to protect my family. He doesn't know us that well, does he?"

Isis shook her head, a evil smirk gracing her beautiful face, "No he doesn't. You are not the only threat he will face. We protect our own. That is the way. We'll be ready." The two girls hugged and turned back to the stairs as Joey, Malik, Yugi, Mokuba, Rashid, Ryou, and Eric started down. Joey had forgone his usual T-shirt and blue jeans for a pair of green leather pants and a white leather tank top, he had a green leather jacket in his un-casted hand, so he could put that on if it got cold. Malik was in a pair of tan hip huggers, and a cream colored leather tank, he also had a tan leather trench coat. Yugi was in a pair of black leather pants with buckles on the knees and around his waist, his top was also black leather with buckles and he had a blue leather trench coat, Mokuba was in a pair of black jeans with straps on them and a black shirt with the CruxShadows emblem on it as well. Rashid was in his usual black leather pants, and purple leather vest. Ryou was in a pair of blue jeans and had a black silk shirt on with a gray undershirt. Eric, was dressed almost exactly like Raine, black pants, black vest but instead of Sennen Eye emblems, he had golden dragons. The yami's, Tristan, and Shadi were next, having stopped outside Merrik's room to discuss the news that Raine had shared. Shadi, true to his beliefs was in a turban and robes. The yami's were in the same outfits as the hikari's but the colors had been reversed. (Merrik in cream pants and tan vest, Yami in blue pants and black vest, Bakura in black pants and blue shirt) Tristan was wearing a pair of charcoal colored leather pants and black boots and a white silk shirt.

Seto overlooked everyone and asked, "Are we ready to go? Is everyone going with Raine to Kanashi and then to the stores, or do we want to split up and a few of us go on over to the mall and the rest meet there after Kanashi?"

Raine looked around, "Personally, I think for those that aren't involved in buying the places, it'll get real boring real quick if everyone goes to Kanashi. So why don't Serenity, Eric, Joey, Mokuba, Tristan, you and I head over to Kanashi, and the others head over to the mall. We'll meet in the food court as soon as we can get there, I'll 'call' Merrik when we're on the way and they can meet us there for lunch and then we can go-" she paused to let the suspense build up and the girls joined her in shouting, "Shopping!!!"

Everyone laughed at the females' antics and they agreed with Raine, Solomon decided to join the group going to Kanashi Estates LTD, just in case they needed an experts opinion on whether they were getting ripped off or not. So the group split into two cars and took off. Raine's group arrived at Kanashi Estates LTD fifteen minutes later to be greeted at the door by Ellen.

"Hello everyone. How was your night? George is in his office, finishing the last of the paper work. Go on back. Would you like anything to eat or drink?"

"No thank you Ellen. We just had breakfast, and we kind of have to hurry this up today. The rest of our group is waiting for us at the mall." Raine explained as the group started back to George's office. Ellen nodded and sat back behind her desk to answer the phone. Raine knocked on George's door and at his command they all entered.

"Hello Ms. Wheeler. I've contacted the necessary people, and once you look over the documents and make the necessary signatures and pay either for the properties or at least the down-payments you can have the keys and move in." George shook Raine's hand and then proceeded to shake everyone else's hand as well.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Kanashi. I greatly appreciate the quickness that you and Ellen have acted with. Please, call me Raine."

"Then feel free to call me George. Here are the papers. Feel free to have everyone look over them, if they don't agree with you, let me know." George stepped out for a few minutes as Raine viewed the papers then handed them to Eric to view as well. Eric then handed them to Solomon and then Seto, so they could see if everything was kosher. Solomon was impressed.

"Everything seems to be in order, and actually Raine, for twenty million for three different properties, especially in this upscale neighborhood you are getting quite a deal. Are you going to do payments until your grandparents and cousin arrive?"

"No. I have one of my Swiss bank accounts that has a thirty million dollar balance, I'm going to buy the properties out right, and if Gramps and Kurt can't accept the houses as gifts, they can either settle with me on a price or make payments on the original price. I figured that way, I didn't have to mess with interest payments." Raine smiled, "It pays to have Tagjaki, Eric, Gramps, and Kurt working as financial advisors. They gave me some sound investment advice. Serenity and Joey can go to school for however long they want and still not have to work to earn extra cash. They each have an account that was supposed to be theirs once they reached 18. Since Tagjaki didn't trust Marus, and Joey was still legally dependent on him for most things, Tagjaki held on to the account, he's invested some money from each account into certain companies and savings accounts. They've developed quite a bit of interest over the years."

"That's good. Now, before Joey has a heart-attack, can we get the papers signed and get out of here. I don't want my boyfriend to die on me now." Tristan teased.

George chose that time to come back into his office and they got down to business, an hour later, Raine was fifteen million dollars poorer, but the new owner of three houses. George had offered a ten percent discount for paying all at once. She put all six keys into her purse and after bidding George and Ellen goodbye, the group left for the mall.

\Merrik? We're on our way.\ Raine voiced in her head as she sat next to Seto in the limo. Her hand was enfolded in his, and no one had said anything yet. She smiled over at him and squeezed his hand, which he returned.

^Okay, we'll see you in the Food Court in about ten minutes. I'll contact everyone else and we'll be there. Did you buy the places?^

\Yes I did, Merrikai. I'll see you in ten minutes. Tell that gorgeous hikari of yours I love him.^ Raine chuckled at his reaction and settled down to enjoy the short ride. She knew that the day was hardly over, but at least the afternoon would be all about fun, she'd worry about the trip to the Shadow Realm when it was time.

A/N: I know, I know, a crappy place to end, but oh well, somethings must be sacraficed. I really didn't want to go over every store they shopped in. I will mention, over the next few chapters what everyone bought, but I figured you'd all appreciate me updating and moving on to the first trip to the Shadow Realm. Next chapter, I promise.
