Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ When That Day Comes ❯ When The Darkness Consumes The Light ( Chapter 7 )
A/N: Ok, don't own YuGiOh and I didn't own the lines from Hold On by Good Charlotte in the last chapter. A few new characters are introduced. Well, one of them is just finally named. Ok, same warning as last chappie:
************************** WARNING: THIS CHAPTER IS VERY GRAPHIC! If you do not like blood, or are squeamish, you should not read this chapter! **************************
Note: the past described in this chapter is not real. I made it up out of the back of my mind with some help from the show and Egyptian mythology.
Kirei, brace yourself for the past. I had to make it fit in somehow, so please don't be mad at me!
And that is all! Please, continue if you'd like.
When That Day Comes
Chapter 7: When The Darkness Consumes The Light
*last chapter*
"My…yami?"
*this chapter*
"You could put it that way. But I am no regular yami."
"What does that mean?"
At that, my reflection stepped through the mirror and took on a material form. It ran its hand down my left arm and held my wrist where the large scar was, causing a searing pain to shoot through the healed wound. Its hand was pulled away and blood freely poured down my hand as it had nearly 4 years ago. I gripped my wrist and stared at it in shock.
"You can call me Tamashii. My life's job, or my job in my afterlife, is to torture you through every waking moment you have left. My joy is causing you pain, and a lot of it."
Tamashii broke out into evil laughter as I still just stared. I felt like I was going to faint from the shock so I sat down at the edge of the bed. Tamashii then turned transparent, flew into my body, and disappeared. I still heard her maniacal laughter ringing out in my ears. As I anticipated, I fell backwards on my bed and darkness took over.

I hope I see Rikoh in school today; I have to apologize for my behavior yesterday! I should not have interrupted them…
Just as I said that, Rikoh walked through the classroom door. As she approached me, I noticed her left wrist had several more bracelets than normal. She stopped at my desk and wasn't smiling. I looked up so that our eyes met.
"I am so sorry," she started.
"I should be the one apologizing, not you. I intruded on your own personal time," I said more forcefully back.
"No… not for that… I'm sorry that I nearly kissed him," Rikoh glanced at Bakura and then looked back at me as she spoke.
"Oh, you shouldn't be sorry for that. If it's what you want I'm fine with it."
"But it's not what I want! I… I wanted that to be you…"
My eyes went as wide as a deer's who was starting at headlights. She likes me?! No… Am I dreaming?
"Really?" I managed out.
Rikoh nodded and lifted her hand to my shoulder. As she did, some of her bracelets slipped backwards slightly and revealed red.
"What's on your wrist?" I asked.
I grabbed her wrist and pulled the bracelets out of the way. Dropping her hand quickly, my expression changed from happy to scared in a millisecond.
"Did… Did you do that?"
"No."
I sighed a huge sigh of relief. My worst fear had almost come true!
"Tamashii did it," Rikoh said calmly.
"And who is Tamashii?" I asked, highly confused.
Suddenly a spirit formed next to Rikoh that almost looked like her twin if she had one. The only difference was their hair, eyes, and faces…
Bakura walked over and gave Tamashii an evil glare.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, as if they had long know each other.
"None of your business, Akeifa. What are you doing here?"
"Trying to obtain all the Sennen Items."
"Well, I am on a mission of great importance as well."
"Tamashii, you have no right to be in this time period. Leave Rikoh alone now!"
"Nakoma? But why? It's so much fun to torture her."
Rikoh and I exchanged confused glances and then returned to the bickering yamis.
"We'll settle this after school, but until then, don't you dare do anything!" Bakura shouted and walked back to his seat.
Some of the students stopped their conversations to look at Bakura, then at Rikoh and me. Rikoh said a quiet goodbye and went over to her own desk.

"Hey, Rikoh! There you are!" I shouted as I caught up to her at lunchtime.
"Oh, what is it Saki?"
"I've been meaning to ask you something… I had this dream the other night and I was kind of freaked out by it. I was standing near an altar like table and you were on it. There was this other person, but I couldn't tell who it was since they were wearing a cloak. Do you know what it means?"
"You had that dream too?!" Rikoh shouted, surprised.
"That was your dream as well? Do you know what it means?" I asked, getting anxious.
"No… But if I were you, I'd avoid wandering around town at night," she said and began to walk off.
I caught up to her and put my hand on her shoulder.
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing, just heed my words," she replied hastily.
"Ok…" I said as she sat down under the tree.
Rikoh, Bakura, Ryou, and I didn't talk at all during the period, but merely listened to the chatter of the others. Bakura seemed to be staring at something next to Rikoh, but there didn't appear to be anything there.
*~*~*~*~*~*
We finally arrived at Ryou and Bakura's house after an unnerving trip there. As soon as the door was closed, Tamashii appeared next to me.
"What the hell are you doing here? You don't belong here!" Bakura shouted at her.
"Oh well sorry if my spirit was sent by the almighty High Priest Kenale to do his bidding," Tamashii answered.
"He was only High Priest to the Pharaoh 5, 000 years ago! You still waste your time serving him?"
"He was the mightiest next to my Seth! How dare you speak badly of him!"
"I believe there were a few others. How was your spirit preserved?"
"Master Kenale kept my spirit alive within his staff after I died! And I was also kept alive through the heart of my dear Seth."
"Enough about your `darling Seth'! What did Kenale exactly assign you to do?"
"Why should I tell you? You were always so nosy, Akeifa."
"You stay away from Namoka, or I'll personally dispose of you."
"I am already a part of her. She cannot live without me."
"Um… could we have an explanation here?" Ryou butted in.
I was relieved for I had tried to make heads or tails of what the two yamis were saying, but it was to no avail. Bakura looked over at us as if he had forgotten that he and Tamashii weren't the only ones in the room.
"Sorry. Ok, this might take a while to explain. I, in my past life, was called Akeifa. I robbed tombs to stay alive and just for kicks sometimes. Tamashii was the lover of High Priest Seth, who you would know better as Seto Kaiba. High Priest Kenale was always up to no good. He was the one who trapped both the Pharaoh and I in our items. He also was the one behind planning the rebellion against the Pharaoh. He got Seth to do his dirty work for him. After Seth's demise, he pleaded innocent in front of the Pharaoh. Kenale pretended to help dispose of the criminal who had stolen the Pharaoh's sacred book, being me. Instead he trapped my soul in the Ring and pretended the guards had killed me. He then waited for the opportune moment to strike and locked the Pharaoh away as he did to me. The Gods got angry with him and they took away his soul. Nakoma was a servant to the Pharaoh, but the Pharaoh took a liking to her and treated her almost as if she were his daughter. She had taken the throne by the wishes of the Pharaoh, but died shortly after due to an unknown reason. Rikoh, you are the reincarnation of Nakoma. Nakoma also was… the woman to bear my child. That is why I feel such strong attraction to you, Rikoh. Our son, Jinketsu, was then Pharaoh after Nakoma died," Bakura explained.
I was shocked. I had that important of a role in ancient Egyptian history? And I… I… Was I really the one Bakura chose in his past life? I guess that explains yesterday.
"I'm guessing the past is going to repeat itself and Rikoh, you'll be the mother of the one to overrule Kenale again. I think he's trying to get rid of you before that can happen…" Bakura continued.
"Oh…" I said.
We sat in silence. I had just learned I was to be killed by someone who was after me for something I could not control.
*~*~*~*~*~*
I walked over to my hikari, sitting peacefully on the couch. It had been hours since Rikoh had left and he still looked shaken.
"What's wrong, my light?"
"Oh, nothing…"
I could tell he was probably stuck up on the fact that in her past life, Rikoh was basically my wife. Maybe I should tell him about future events…
"You know, you are my reincarnation. You would be the one if history were to repeat itself."
With that I walked off to yet again, try to get past that Ra-forsaken level.
*~*~*~*~*~*
It was late and already dark, and I was walking home from the store. Rikoh's words repeated in my head. I began to think about what she could have meant when someone pulled me behind a building. I looked at who it was and recognized the symbols on the person's cloak as the ones on the cloaked person from my dream.
Their hand immediately went over my mouth to silence me if I were to scream. I struggled to get away, but it was to no avail.
"It's been a long time, Dorei," the man said.
I suddenly stopped moving. What did he call me?
"You will once again be my servant and help me to destroy Namoka!"
Who's Nakoma? Why are we going to destroy them? How does this man know me?!
Suddenly the scenery around us disappeared and a new one appeared. We were now inside and old building that looked similar to the one in my dream. He took his hand away from my mouth and I breathed in heavily.
"Where are we and who are you?" I asked.
"Ah, you do not remember the past. I am Kenale, your Master."
"You can't force me to be your servant."
"Oh, but I can. The same way I did so long ago."
He chuckled and suddenly my body froze. My mind seemed to be separated from it and everything went black.
*~*~*~*~*~*
The phone rang twice before someone answered it. I heard footsteps come up the stairs before a knock on my door.
"Phone's for you, Rikoh," Usagi said from behind the door and then I heard him leave.
I walked downstairs and picked up the phone that lay on the kitchen table.
"Hello?"
"Hi Rikoh!"
"Hi Saki."
"I was wondering if you were doing anything after school on Thursday."
"Don't think I am. Why?"
"Would you want to walk to the arcade together?"
"Sure! Is anyone else coming?"
"No, I thought we could get to know each other better."
"Ok then, see you at school."
"Bye."
I hung up smiling. I wonder if she knows it's my birthday Thursday? I walked back up to my room and began typing my essay that was due in two days. After a few minutes, my head began to hurt. I brought my hand to massage my forehead but as soon as I touched my head the pain became excruciatingly worse. I heard Tamashii's laugh in my head and realized that this was no normal headache.
I soon found myself feeling abnormally dizzy and cold, but I did not black out.
"No, you are going to stay awake for the pain." Tamashii said maniacally.
I suddenly felt my body go numb. I was breathing, but I could not do any of the actions my brain gave out. Without warning, my hand moved for the draw right next to my desk. It was as if I was a spectator inside my own body. I pulled out something and suddenly became fearful of what I was about to do.
I struggled to gain control of my body, but nothing happened. I could do nothing but quite literally watch as I reopened the same wound from the previous day. I felt like screaming, but I was no longer able to do so. Everything became cold and black, and I felt myself falling.
*~*~*~*~*~*
I walked over to Saki's locker after school and gave her a big smile. Wednesday had passed quickly and Tamashii didn't even do anything to me that night.
"Are we ready to go?" I asked.
"I am if you are," she replied, closing her locker.
We walked down to the arcade in silence. I occasionally looked over at Saki, but she continued looking straight ahead. There was an odd smile on her face; it almost looked evil. I shook the thought from my head.
Just as we were approaching the entranceway, she pushed me into the alley between the arcade and the building next to it. I stumbled but got up quickly to face her.
"What was that for?!" I exclaimed.
"We're going to have some fun for your birthday," Saki said and smiled maniacally.
She grabbed onto my arm and we were teleported to another area. It was completely empty and looked abandoned. Saki let go and then stepped backwards. A figure began to form behind her and I gasped as I recognized the cloak.
"Thank you, my servant."
The man patted Saki on the head and then pulled off the hood of his cloak.
"Hello Nakoma. So we meet again after 5,000 years."
"You are Kenale, aren't you?"
"Very good. I see we've been studying."
"I know what you want to do and I promise you, you will not succeed!"
"Oh, but I will. You see, you're out numbered. I have 2 loyal servants to help me, whereas you have none. Where's your little Pharaoh now?"
Kenale broke out in maniacal laughter as I felt my body being restrained. Saki walked up to me and chained both my arms and legs together.
"Saki, why are you doing this?" I asked desperately.
"You see, she's not Saki anymore. She is Dorei, my faithful mind slave," Kenale answered for her.
I struggled to get out of my bindings, but I felt my body being restrained once again.
"There is no way you can win. I will destroy you before you have the chance to destroy me!"
I let out a tear. Was I really going to die right now? I am finally getting what I wished for, but now I don't want it. I don't want to be gone forever.
Kenale pulled out a staff. He began whispering some words in a language that sounded like Egyptian. A white ball of light began to form in front of him. It was small at first but grew to be almost the size of him. The ball stopped growing, then started moving towards me. I tried to gain control of my body in a last effort, but Tamashii's hold was too strong. It hit me and I felt a pain so horrible that I felt like my soul was being taken from me. The world closed in around me and I could not hold on to the life I had any longer.
*~*~*~*~*~*
I looked around the house and saw that everything was in place. The decoration crew ended up doing a very good job, the cake was beautiful, and the music was perfect. I smiled, knowing that Rikoh would be so happy when she saw this.
"Is everyone ready?" I asked out of impulse.
"Yeah, just go hurry up and get her!" Jonouchi shouted as people looked around for good hiding places.
"I'm going!" I said, walking out the door.
The walk wasn't long and I was soon knocking on the door to the Okami residence. I waited no more than a few minutes before Usagi opened the door and looked at me in a confused way.
"Is Rikoh home?" I asked him.
"No, she said she was going to the arcade with Saki after school," he answered highly confused.

*cue sinister piano music* Did the last part seem at all familiar? If not, you might want to reread the beginning of chapter 2. Yey! I'm getting better at updating! It was less than last time at least. ^^;;; *sighs pathetically* Thanks to my two reviewers! ^^
Kirei
Hehe, I hope so too. It's cursed me ever since I said it would. >< Note to self: Do not threaten for reviews with the consequence of writer's block. ^^;;; I hope you can find time to type up another chapter. Good luck with it!

Reviews would be very greatly appreciated.
