Part 1: Prelude

The sun's warm rays entered the always rather dim office of Seto Kaiba, filling it with light. Light played off of crystal knick-knacks on his desk creating dancing rainbows on the drab colored walls. Though such beauty lay before his eyes those blue orbs were set down on the papers that littered the highly polished desk. A grumble of frustration fell from his lips as he went over the numbers presented to him. Even though Kaiba Corp was still a highly renowned company the stocks and the profits were suffering.

A Duel Monsters Tournament hadn't happened in months and it showed its price in the profit margins. They simply weren't making money like they used to anymore. Technology kept getting better and so the Duel Monster's experience did as well, but as popular as it was, it wasn't brining in the customers anymore. He needed something new and exciting to help drive consumer buying back up.

Gentle knock at the door brought his head up, deep brown locks fell stubbornly into his eyes as he gazed coldly at the door. " What is it?" His voice echoed out through the room as he sat back in his high backed leather chair. He hadn't been told about a meeting with anyone today, so this came as a surprise to him, one he didn't enjoy.

The door creaked slowly open as a tall figure made it's way into the large room. High heels clicked softly against the floor as long legs took the figure towards the desk. Full hips swayed under the tight black skirt that hugged those shapely thighs closely. Delicate fingers tugged the obsidian blazer lower on her body as the other arm carried a clipboard and folders. Deep emerald eyes matched the silk blouse under the blazer and sparkled at Kaiba even as those rose bud lips curled in a smile at him. Milky chocolate colored silken hair fell in soft locks around her face and down past her shoulders though the bulk of the hair was tied in a loose bun at the nape of her neck. Her voice was soft as a spring breeze as she addressed him. "Seto Kaiba, sir."

An eyebrow arched in question, as he looked her over again, not out of shock or even lust, simply out of curiosity. Seto had never seen this girl before or even hired her, so he pondered, quite frankly, who the heck she was. "And you are?" he asked rather coldly, hating that this woman, whoever she was, was wasting his time.

"Kasumi Suzuhara. " That smile stayed on her lips as she stated her name as if it should have been obvious to him. It seemed she was oblivious to the fact that Kaiba was growing weary of this even as his look grew sour.

After a few moments of silence between the two he realized that was all she was going to say on the subject. Fighting back a sigh of vexation he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Suzuhara, right? What is your business with me?" That heated annoyance showed in his voice as he looked at her from down his nose.

She blinked softly almost confused about the whole thing she shifted the weight in her arms. She cleared her throat and looked back at him, still a smile on her face. "I'm you hired help, your Vice President hired me sir. He said I am to help you bring back up profits. "

Inside of his head he could have almost laughed at it. He should had known better, known his VP would have done something like this. However none of that showed on his face as he went back to looking at the papers, speaking to her without looking. "Well then, Suzuhara, considered yourself fired then."

Her smile faltered as she came closer to the desk, moving a bit to look at him as he worked. "Sir…I was hired to help, and help is what I am going to do." She couldn't believe what he had just said to her, and she wasn't going to let this go.

"You didn't hear me, I said you are fired. Your assistance is not needed here." He glared up at her, annoyance turning to anger as more time was wasted on dealing with the woman.

A look of fiery defiance filled her now serious face as she grabbed the papers off of his desk and read them out loud. " 'Profits are down 30% from last quarter, stock has dropped nearly 50% and if profits don't rise soon, Kaiba Corps will suffer great losses.' Sounds to me like you are in dire need of help, sir." She placed the papers back in front of him, giving him the same cold look.

He gritted his teeth as he stood, placing his hands on his desk. "And what do you think you can do about it Suzuhara?" He asked heatedly daring her to solve what he couldn't find a good solution for.

Instead of a smile that played those lips it was a grin, full of predatory hunger and cocky assurance. "Do what no one else can do. Breathe life into Duel Monsters bring in new aspects into the game. Make it wild and exciting. Bring the monsters to life."
