Chuckles: We don't own Yu-Gi-Oh only the OC's in this fic.

Down the golden hall walked the pharaoh's head bodyguard, Jardina. Even though she was a girl, she was the best fighter in the whole palace. Her dark brown hair dangled in front of her cold dark green eyes. She wore a muslin mini skirt that reached 5 inches above her knees, and a muslin top with no sleeves and it showed her midrift so that any man would stare, but from her cold aura they kept they're distance. Which was what she wanted. She liked being alone.

Around her waist was a belt with daggers (if you've seen the mummy returns think off the dagger as what neffertiti and annaxunamuen [please ignore name spellings…baka names] fight with) in silver hilts.

She turned and walked into the high priest' chamber. “You called my lord?” She asked bowing but kept her eyes on his face.

“Yes,” came the priest' gruff reply, “ I know of your anger toward the pharaoh.” Jardina clenched her fist. She hated the pharaoh for sending her brother, who was ten at the time, needlessly into battle against the Romans, where he was slain cruelly. Her only satisfaction from it was they did not capture him and slowly torture him to death. “and I have a way for him to pay the debt he owes your family.”

Jardina looked into his cold eyes searching for any hint of lying, “and that would be?” She asked suspiciously.

“You will find out in due time,” The priest smirked wickedly, “ Take this bracelet and meet me in the gardens in three days.” He tossed her a small bracelet that just fit her wrist, “that is all.” He turned his head away to attend to some scrolls.

“Yes Priest Set,” Jardina bowed again and left the chamber thoughts swimming around in her head, `could he really help me get revenge on the pharaoh, and if so why does he want to help and what's with the bracelet he gave me?' She looked at the silver on her wrist and fingered the sapphire thoughtfully as she walked to her chambers.

Three days later Jardina met High priest Set in the garden. “So what's your big plan?” She asked, crossing her arms.

Set smiled, “ It will reveal itself in due time, but first I need you to do a couple of favors.”

“Why should I help you?” Jardina asked looking into his eyes again, “ I could save me some trouble by coming up with a plan of my own.”

“ Because I can make you second in command.” Set replied calmly.

“Do I look like the type to care about power?” She turned to leave.

“Yes, not political power,” Set replied, Jardina turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow, “But physical power. I can help you there”

Jardina thought it over, “What do I have to do?” she asked.

“ First you must retrieve gossip from the streets, see if the pharaoh has a weakness,” Set replied.

“Easy,” Jardina smirked, really it was. She use to live on the streets.

“And you must get me some scrolls from the Ramases Dynasty (I'm just guessing the reign DON'T HURT ME!!!!!!!!!!!) Set continued.

“ Why then?” Jardina asked. No one really paid attention to that dynasty.

Set turned to leave, “You will find out, eventually, meet me at the temple in five nights,” And with that he left.

“ I hope this is worth the effort,” Jardina muttered to herself as she left.

The town gossip was easy to get, like she had thought, she had always looked like a commoner, besides her clothing, which suited her fine. The ancient scroll was a might be a challenge though.

Four days later in the dead of night, she made her way to the scroll room.

“I'm here to fetch scrolls for the pharaoh,” she lied to the guard expertly. He stepped aside when she showed him a token, that she had stolen, which let her enter the most sacred rooms `He must be new' she thought as she passed, `He actually thinks I'm a servant.” She held back a glare as she past when she noticed where he was starring.

She scanned through the scrolls looking for anything from the Ramases dynasty, finally she found what she was looking for.

She carefully put them in her bag before running to her chamber “this is easier than I thought,” She told herself as she went to bed after making sure the scroll was well hidden.

The Next day Jardina decided to explore the marketplace for last second snooping. She wore a long brown dress to hide her daggers. She easily dodged the civilians. And dealt with thieves quicker than the eye could see.

`Can't these people talk about anything else besides their cousin's wedding' she growled to herself as she stopped at a jewelry stand.

“Would you like a pendent worn by the pharaoh himself?” the merchant asked her. A malevolent grin on his face.

“How'd you get it?” She asked the man, not trusting his smile…or his smell.

“A friend of mine works at the palace,” The merchant answered, smiling still. Remaining calm while Jardina gave him a look that most men would wet themselves if they received it.

“Has he ever mentioned a weakness of the pharaoh?” She asked, highly doubting the merchant knew ANYTHING about the pharaoh.

“Depends on what you mean by weakness,” The merchant replied, eyes gleaming.

Jardina fingered a gold coin in her money pouch before placing it on the counter, “ I mean a way to get the upper hand against him.”
The greedy merchant took the coin and beckoned for her to follow him. She did, despite her instincts screaming at her. He led her to a small tent that had gold statues every where. `Probably from tomb robber friends or maybe he's the tomb robber himself,' she thought, looking around. `More than likely'

They sat down, “ Rumor has it that the pharaoh can't resist a challenge,” The merchant replied, putting the coin in a small box.

“Tell me,” Jardina looked into his cold eyes, already knowing the answer, “ What is your friends occupation?”

The merchant took of his hood revealing long white hair, “ He works as a thief,” He said with a smirk, “Or should I say a tomb robber.”

“Akefia!” Jardina gasped, “I would think you'd keep low after almost getting caught by the pharaoh's leopard,” she said with a smirk, remembering the incident from several months ago.

“A thief never surrenders,” Akefia told her, “ And he also never passes an opportunity to rob,” He lunged after Jardina, but she jumped out of the way. She turned, letting her dagger into her palm. Akefia jumped after her again. But she was too quick for him. Before he knew it, he was on the ground with a dagger at his throat.

“ If you want to remain the most wanted thief in Egypt,” Jardina said, not removing her dagger, “I'd suggest you let me be, the same goes if you want your lover to bear your children,”

Akefia looked at her, furry rising, “Go,” he said not taking his eyes of her.

Jardina left without a word. “ A thief never passes the opportunity to rob,” Akfia told himself, as he held her money pouch and bracelet and place them into his box.

Jardina quietly snuck into the temple, mind to busy thinking about other things to notice the missing bracelet.

“So you finally showed up.” The high priest said when she walked out of the shadows. Eyes cold as usual.

“I had to take care of a minor irritation.” She replied, not bothered by his glare.

“Did you get the scrolls?” He asked impatiently.

“Yes, why do you need them?” Jardina asked, hiding a smirk at his impatience.

“The time has not come to reveal my plan yet.” Set replied sharply. “Now hand them over.”

Jardina handed over the scrolls silently. “ Why won't you tell me?” she asked leaning against the wall.

“ The Pharaoh has many spies amongst us.” Set answered, looking around carefully, “ Even the wall have ears. Now follow me.” He led her deep into the temple.

Jardina looked at the hieroglyphics as she followed. `That's strange' She thought `they seem more like directions then history.'

Set stopped. “ Hand me the bracelet,” He commanded.

Jardina reached for her wrist. But when she didn't feel the metal she cursed furiously. “It's gone!”

“What!?!” Set Cried.

“The bracelet, I lost it.” She repeated, “Don't you have ears?”

“You fool! You don't have the right to insult me in your position!” Set said this, not as a yell but in a way that made her flinch all the same. “I need that bracelet to unlock the gate to the chamber!”

“Why did you give it to me then?” She asked, wondering Why she flinched, she'd never flinched before.

“Because, no one would suspect that a bracelet on you would be a key to the temple.” Set replied as if this was obvious.

“Is that all I was?” Jardina asked. “ A key holder?” She clenched her fist in anger.

“No,” Set answered, “ You are a main part of my plan. Now go find the bracelet. You better hope that it's still in the town.” Jardina growled but left to search.

Jardina frantically searched for the bracelet in the market place, Set's threat still in her mind. `Why am I so afraid? I've never been afraid of anything before…' She wondered to herself. The thought made her uneasy.

Luckily she found it at a different merchants stand. She didn't blame the merchant but she needed to get the bracelet back, she didn't have any money and threatening him was not the best of ideas, even if it would be fun.

The answer was simple, a trick she used before she and her brother moved to the palace, when they were young, and thieves. She casually walked be and pretended to trip falling over the stand. Slipping up the bracelet up her sleeve, she apologized for being a klutz. The merchant nodded and accepted her appology.

The merchant nodded and let her go, not suspecting a thing. `Ignorant fool,' she thought as she made her way back to the temple.

Set was waiting in the same spot, as he was the night before. Not resisting the temptation to show of, plus s sudden restlessness she felt, Jardina did a few front flips as she landed in front of him.

“Very nice,” He commented coolly, mouthing twitching in a smile slightly, Jardina felt a strange feeling of pride in her chest which confused her, it was an easy move and nothing to be proud of.“ Do you have the bracelet?”

“What do you think?” She retorted. She gave him the bracelet, and savored the warmth of his hand which made her shiver slightly.

“This way,” Set turned and led her through the same chambers as the night before, stopping at the same place as before. Mumbling something he lifted the bracelet so the torch's light reflected of the sapphire in the center. A Bright Blue light filled the chamber. When it lifted she found herself in an entirely different chamber.

“Where am I?” She wondered out loud. Looking at the tablets. `Ka…' she realized from watching the trials judges by the priests.

“ This is a secret chamber that only few know of.” Set replied as he sat down in a chair, “ Now tell me what you found out.”

“I heard that he can't resist a challenge. But everyone knows that” She started, “And that he has his eye on a commoner.” She met his eyes and couldn't let herself pull away.

Set smirked, “Excellent…Who?”

“Teanna.” Jardina replied, “The daughter of the potter, Sekwaskhet”

“This is perfect.” Set got up and started pacing, “ if we could kidnap Teanna we can hold her hostage and challenge the pharaoh to a duel he will have to agree if he values the child's life, if we win he shall be dead. If he wins, you will take care of him.”

Jardina smiled, “So you didn't have a full plan after all. You were making it up as you went along. I see how you work now.”

“That is none of your concern.” Set snapped back. Making Jardina's smile turn into a slight smirk.

“So all I have to do is lure Teanna into a trap.” Jardina commented, “And bring her to you?”

“Exactly” Set nodded, “Some of my followers have a camp not far from the town. You shall bring her there.”

“Fine I'll do it,” Jardina said and started looking for a way out, feeling slightly nervous at the thought of being in a room alone with Set.

“Be Careful,” He said, advincing towards her.

She manaegd to keep hersle ffrom backing away, “what did you say?” her voice was confused, as hard as she might try to hold it.

Set looked at his feet stopping a few feet from her, “ I said be careful.” Jardina gave him a baffled look, he never seemed to care before. “The real reason I chose you for this job is because I love you, Jardina, and I wanted to be closer.”

Joy rushed through out her body. Love! That is why he made her nervous! She loved him back! “Set…” She said quietly. Fighting to hold back her emotions.

“It's silly but, I loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you.” Set continued, skin turning pink as he spoke.

“ When was that?” She wanted to know, “How long ago have you felt this way? And why are you telling me now?”

Set looked into her eyes, “Eight years to the day. You were talking to a boy in the courtyard, when I saw you determination and confidence, but in your eyes I saw caring and fear, though only a bit of fear.” Jardina blinked amazed, she was rarely afraid, and when she was no one has been able to tell. “a strange feeling took over me… I wanted to leave you and comfort you at the same time. I wanted to impress you. I wanted to touch you…stroke your lovely… face. ”
Set advanced and stroked Jardina's face gently, making her shiver again, “I continued to watch you. I watched you walk to your chambers where you cried.” Jardina remembered the day he was talking about, suddenly. That was the day her brother left to battle, the last time she saw him. The last day she felt afraid until recently. She wasn't afraid for herself but for him. Shortly afterward was the last day she felt grief or cried. The day she learned of her brother's death.

“Soon the strange feeling grew stronger every time I saw you at festivals and banquets. I never had the courage to tell you until now.” Set stopped stroking her face and stepped away. Eyes full of longing.

“As for why now…You know the consequences of plotting against the pharaoh, is death. If I or you get caught, you would never have known how I felt.” Set looked at his feet again. “and I couldn't go to my grave without telling you…”

Jardina walked up to him. Forcing him to look into her eyes she said just four simple words, “I love you to.”

Set looked at her, shocked but glad. Pulling her closer they kissed., long and passionatly. Jardina wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes. Feeling purely bliss for the first time she could remember.

Reluctantly they broke apart. Waving his hand and muttering something Set caused another blue light to appear. Again when it faded Jardina found her self in the same spot as when Set made the first light.

“Take this,” Set said giving Jardina the bracelet, “Think of it as a token.” She took it but stayed silent, wondering if everything will work out. The rest of the plan was dangerous, if she got caught kidnapping Teanna…she didn't want to think of the possibilities.

Set cupped his hand around Jardina's face, “Don't worry, we will see eachother again. I guaranty it,” he gave her a swift kiss before leaving.

Jardina walked to her chambers, mind racing. Mostly about ways to easily capture the girl, but some parts about her and Set and their future if they succeeded somehow…

Teanna was sweeping her house when her mother came in.

“Teanna, daughter, there is someone here to see you.” Her mother informed her before getting to work on their dinner.

“Who is it, mama?” Teanna asked, putting her broom asside.

“I don't know,” Her mother replied, “all she said was she was a friend.”

Teanna went into the courtyard, wndering who her visitor was. A friend her mother didn't know? Who was that? When she arrived she saw her visitor. He/she, she couldn't tell the gender, was draped in a brown cloak, hiding their facial features. “You wanted to see me?”

The stranger didn't reply, they walked to her and that was the last thing she remembered before darkness took over her and she blacked out.

Jardina smirked, this was easier than she thought. Teanna was tied in Set's tent, and Jardina was waiting for him to arrive.

Teanna Slowly awoke. “Who are you?” She asked, eyes fool of terror.

“That is none of your concern,” Jardina replied, keeping an eye out for Set.

“What do you want with me?” Teanna continued to ask, struggling against her ties.

Jardina looked at Teanna, Amusement in her eyes, “ My don't we have a lot of questions. And don't bother, if you get free somehow I can just capture you again.”

Just as Teanna was about to reply, the high priest entered, “So you got her?” He asked, relieved that it went well.

“What does it look like?” Jardina replied, smiling at him.

Set smirked, “The plan is almost finished. Soon the pharaoh will be dead.”

Those words struck even more fear into Teanna's heart. These people were planning on murdering Pharaoh Atemu! She couldn't let happen. But how could she stop them?

“The rest of the plan shall be: I enter the Pharaohs chamber, Challenge the pharaoh to a duel with his life on the line, if he refuses, you come in with a dagger at the girls throat. He will accept and we duel. If I win you shall slit his throat; if he wins you will hide in his room and kill him at night. Got it?”

“Is that all?” Jardina asked, innocently.

Set smiled and signaled for some of his followers to take Teanna into another tent. “We will finish this tommorow, but for now…” He closed the tent flap and kissed Jardina passionatly.

(A/N: This is going to be the duel between Seto and the servant in the beginning of Battle City but I'm going to add my own twist. It won't be word for word but just summarized. So the duel isn't my creation but I do have a few parts I added, you should know which ones the are. And if I get anything wrong, sorry I've only seen the episodes of Battle City that are on DVD and I'm typing this up from memory)

Jardina rode with set to the palace the next morning, making sure Teanna was tied, gagged, and well hidden. They had also drugged her so she would be silent and not move as much.

Set and Jardina said their farewells and Seto marched into the palace while Jardina prepared for her entrance. A few minutes later she followed.

When Jardina arrived at the chamber Seto was already challenging the pharaoh to a duel.

“I Challenge You Pharaoh to a duel, By the rights of tradition duel me if you aren't a coward. And aren't afraid to die.” Set Taunted, smirking cruelly.

“What if I refuse?” The Pharaoh Atemu asked, wondering what had gotten into his cousin.

“Innocent blood will be on your hands,” Jardina answered coming out into the open, her dagger at Teana's throat. The gag on her mouth muffled her screams but they could still be heard slightly.

Pharaoh Atemu gasped, this was the last thing he expected. His head body guard, conspiring against him and the life of Teanna at stake. “Fine…I accept.” He said quietly.

“As the pharaohs Loyal servant, I shall go against you traitor.” Priest Mahado (I think that's who it is…) stepped up, “Set, I cannot believe you betrayed The Great Pharaoh's trust!”

“Why shouldn't I when he is an incompetent leader.” Set replied coldly.
The duel Began. Jardina watched with interest as Set summoned a dragon ka. (A/E Sorry I don't know the name of the card).

Mahado summoned a different dragon ka and destroyed Set's dragon. Jardina clenched her teeth. Set will come up with a plan. But she panicked when she remembered that it also affects the Ba, the body.

Set then summoned a new ka but Mahado fused his and another tocreate a even more powerful dragon and it destroyed Set's again.

“You think you can beat me?' Set laughed. Jardina wondered how much more his Ba could take. “Now I call forth the remainder of my monsters!” Two stone tablets rose , “Behold I shall infuse their Life forces to create the ultimate dragon! The Blue Eyes White Dragon!”

That's why he wanted the scrolls. Jardina realized, He wanted them to reveal the most powerful monster! Even the pharaoh seems afraid! Mahado's ba and ka will be no match against it.

Atemu stood up, “Mahado, I shall take over from here.” He commanded.

“Yes my lord,” Mahado backing away, but still watched Set cautiously.

“You may think you have won.” The pharaoh said, smirking. “But it's not over yet.” Chanting something Atemu summoned a Ka who looked to be a mage or sorcerer.

“You Fool,” Set called, “The Blue Eyes White Dragon is Much stronger than you pathetic Ka!”

Atemu Smiled, “The Blue Eyes White Dragon May be Powerful, But you need it to follow your command. And you can only do that if you can trust him.”

“Quit this nonsense!” Set cried out, “I'll Show you the True Power of the Blue Eyes White Dragon! White Lightning Attack!”

The dragon rose into the air as lightning burst from its mouth, causing dust to fly. When it cleared away. The Dark Magician was still standing, but the Blue Eyes White Dragon was gone.

“What Happened?” Set asked. Completely stunned at the fact that the Dark Magician was still there.

“Your attack was Powerful, But the Dark Magician Blocked Your Attack with his Mirror Force Defense(A/E I have no Idea how they played in Ancient Egypt, So just Go with it), an ability I thought would be useful for a Ka, Causing Your attack to go right back at you and destroy your monster!" ”Atemu informed.

”No, I lost.” Set said completely stunned, he looked at Jardina, eyes terrified.

“Guards, get the traitors!” Atemu commanded.

“Jardina, Run, Remember my plan!” Set Yelled, eyes meeting her, pleadingly.

“No, I won't leave you.” Jardina called back, “I'll defend you Set!” She ran towards him.

“Stop! Jardina! Please!” Jardina stopped, fist clenched, “Don't worry, I promise well meet again.” Set replied, “Now Run. Please!”

Jardina took one last look at Set before running, the guards who were not advancing on Set followed her.

She ran into the main hallway, searching for the path to the Pharaoh's bedchamber, mind to shocked and panicked to think straight.

She turned into every hall possible, trying to loose them, But the guards were just as fast. There's only one way to stop them, she thought, I have to fight them.

Stopping, she braced herself for an attack, hands at her side, ready to pull out her daggers. The guards came at her with everything they had, but she was to fast. She was soon behind them. Unsheathing her daggers she attacked. Slicing through each of the guards throats. They were all defeated soon.

Panting Jardina still made her way to the pharaoh's chamber, `ugh…I reek of blood..' She hoped no one could smell her and discover her before the plan was finished. She was almost there when she felt a sharp pain in her back, turning around she saw Jono, the pharaohs newest guard, with his sword in her back.

Falling to her knees she remembered her brother and when they first came to the palace…twelve years ago…. She was ten and he was eight..

She and her brother, Hiro, were running, each with a loaf of bread.

“Nice going” She glared at Hiro as they ran.

“How was I suppose to know that the bakery owner was a guard in disguise?” Hiro asked, jumping over a few pots that were in the way.

“The sword might have been a give away,” She retorted, “You were always slow to notice details.”

“Stop right there, thieves.” The guards who were chasing after them called.

“As you wish,” She stopped smirking and turned around to face them.

“What are you doing?” Hiro hissed in her ear, “Have you lost it?”

“We can't run all our lives,” She answered, “It's time we fight. Maybe it'll get them to leave us alone”

“You're right,” Hiro replied, “But I doubt it will cause them to leave us alone.”

“Look at the bright side,” Jardina watched as the guards almost reached them, “If we go to jail at least we'll get food once a day.”

“Time to pay,” The guard told them as he unsheathed his sword and advanced.

“I think not.” Jardina ran up and kicked him in the stomach. Knocking his sword from his hand
.
Hiro picked up the sword, he was always surprisingly strong for his age, and put it at the guard's throat, “You will leave us alone.” He commanded, “Starting now.”

“No,” The guard knocked them both down and picked up his sword. He raised it and was just about to bring it down when a voice called out…“Stop!”

“Why should I?” The guard asked, turning to see who it was.

“Or it will cost you your head,” It was Pharaoh Akhenamkhahen, Pharaoh Atemu's father. “There is a better way to end their thievery. They shall work for me, as guards and warriors.”

“Even the girl?” The guard asked. Looking at Jardina with a disgusted look.

“I have a name.” Jardina said through gritted teeth it was SOO tempting to kick him in a lower area than the stomach just then.

“Even her,” The Pharaoh replied, ignoring her remark, “She could be useful…”

And with those words echoeing in her mind Jardina whispered one sentence before her soul left her, “I will have revenge…”
