"So... what now aibou?" Yami asked Yugi as they curled into bed that night.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean.... with us. What happens now?"
"I don't know... I guess.... be boyfriends."
The two look-alikes both blushed a light shade of pink.
"That sounds about right..."
"But.... can we not tell anyone?"
"What?"
"I mean.... you know..... just not yet atleast? I don't think I'm ready for anyone to know."
"I see."
"I'm not ready for the world to see me as homosexual. I'm still not quite sure if I am."
"Well, bisexual isn't as bad to be called. You do like girls right?"
"....Yeah. But I still don't think I'm ready."
"Ok. We'll wait to tell for as long as you need."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"You really are perfect aren't you?"
"No. I just want you all to myself for a while."
"Mmmm.... I'm not sure that's an option."
"Because of Christina?"
"... Yeah."
"Go ahead and flirt with her a bit. It'll keep her from thinking you and I are together. It just might spice things up."
Yugi smiled his most kawaii smile. Yami couldn't resist it. It was so innocent. His lips felt dry, so he licked them to moisten them as he leaned closer to his hikari. His eyes were slowly closing and his lips puckered up. Yugi tilted his head to the side to allow his pharroh easier access to the kiss.
A bright light from outside suddenly illuminated the room, followed by a loud clap of thunder. Down the hall, Christina jumped and shrieked like she was being murdered, causing the two to stop their advancements onto eachother. Yugi looked out the window and saw it was raining and lightning was assisting. Yami looked at him.
"What was that?"
"Lightning.... she's afraid of it."
"What? How can anyone be afraid of lightning at her age?"
"When she was six the car stalled out and her dad stepped outside to check the engine and he was struck."
"Oh..."
"We should go to her.... for comfort."
"Are you sure aibou?"
"Yeah. You can't just leave a friend to be scared. Remember what happened to Mai?"
"Yes. I see your point."
They got up from under the covers and walked down the hall to Christina's room, where they found her curled up with a teddy bear in her grasp. She looked at them with watery blue eyes. She always did her best to seem tough and strong, but right now, they saw her at her most vulnerable time.
Yugi sat next to her and put his arms around her. She instantly leaned into it and relaxed alittle. Yami sat on the other side of her, not knowing quite what do to. Yugi looked at him over her head, showing how worried he was about her right now. He didn't need to look at Yami that way for him to know that. He didn't even need to be empathetic with him to know. Yugi had bonded with her for several years through their letters and she was a good friend to him.
For most of the night they sat with her until she fell asleep. Everything outside was starting to calm down and she wasn't as jumpy with the lightning flashes.
Yugi set her down onto the pillows and covered her. Yami stood up and went around to the other side where Yugi was. He didn't want to say anything while she was awake, but now that she was asleep he could tell Yugi. It had been bugging him for a while.
"Yugi-koi. I think someone else is enthralled by her."
"What?"
"Look at the window."
Yugi looked up. What he saw nearly gave him a heart attack. Del was sitting on one of the tree branches looking in on them. His tiny dark eyes were watching them in depression. He was soaked to the bone. Yugi walked over to the window and opened it.
"How long have you been out here?"
"Since the s-storm.. began," he shivered.
"Why?"
"I... wanted to m-m-make sure she was.... ok."
"Go home Del. She's fine I promise. Before you freeze and get sick, go."
"Ok."
Del climbed back down the tree slowly as Yugi closed the window and turned back to Yami. He smirked at him and extended his hand. He took it and walked back to their room. They snuggled under the covers and fell asleep with one last good night.
