Tristan: What's the matter with MJ?

DD: She's pouting.

Bakura: Why? She's getting to do all the fun stuff in this fic!

MJ: Yes, but everyone thinks that you know who is writing everything! *pout*

DD: Don't look at me! I've lost total and complete control over this fic!

YD: *evil grin*

Seto: It's not too hard to tell that MJ and Dragon are the ones writing it.

Tristan: Well, I'd hug her and make her feel better, but quite frankly, I'm scared to death of her.

MJ: It's not a hug I would want anyway

DD: Hands off MJ!

YD: I get dibs on his bike!

MJ: I just wanted it pointed out that I am a real person…otherwise I am going to rebel, and someone will pay

YD: Okay, MJ, you've made your point! Can we please get on with the story?

MJ: There you go trying to control me again… I am going to have to get me a lawyer.

Chapter 2

~*~*~*~*~

Mokuba dropped his violin case on his bed and sat down at his desk to check his email.

(Nothing from Hitotsu-Me. I thought for sure she'd email me today.)

When Yugi had asked him what he'd been up to while they were gone, he'd been tempted to tell him all about her. He had thought better of it though, just in case he mentioned it to Seto.

He'd learned so much about her in so short a time. First of all, he found out pretty quick she was a girl, and that she was Seto's age. She had told him all about her parents and how they died in a car crash when she was seven. She didn't know much about Duel Monsters, but she wanted to learn, so she had decided to come into this particular chat room so she could talk to other duelists. Hitotsu-Me was her favorite card.

(Man! Is it quiet in this house with Seto at work and Ryou at the church. Funny, I never noticed it when it was just me and Seto. I really miss him. He'd be so mad about Hitotsu-Me. I really need a friend right now though. I wonder if I should tell her about that girl? I bet she could tell me what to do! And I bet she wouldn't tell me I'm too young to be thinking about stuff like that.)

Mokuba went to his bed and picked up his violin, tuning the strings. He drew the bow across them, smiling. Who would have figured that he'd pick up something like this so fast. Ryou had suggested he learn to play an instrument two years ago. He didn't know why he chose the violin, but he loved it.

He let himself sink into the music.

~*~*~*~*~

"Ryou, that was beautiful."

Ryou smiled. "Thanks Father. It's a lot better when Mokuba accompanies me though."

"I hear he's taken to the violin like a busy duck to a millpond."

"Yeah. He's gotten really good in a short period of time."

Ryou sat down in the front pew next to the priest.

"And you're getting better at performing in front of an audience."

Ryou shook his head, puzzled.

"There's been someone sitting in the back the whole time."

Ryou looked over his shoulder and saw a woman with long black hair and violet eyes, even more brilliant than Yugi's, sitting in the last pew. She smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up. Ryou blushed and turned back around.

Father Connor chuckled. "So my boy, when are you going to sing for my congregation?"

"I don't know if I'm ready yet Father."

"Nonsense! You sang for myself and your friends the last time I came over for dinner."

"But that's different! That was just my friends!" Ryou blushed again.

"Well, I want you to think about it, okay? You've gotten a lot more self confident over the last three years."

"Thanks to Seto." Ryou smiled.

"Yes." The old cleric smiled back. "I know I'm not supposed to approve, but you boys have been very good for each other."

"I love him Father." Ryou said quietly.

"I know you do Ryou. And he loves you. Anyone with eyes in their head can see that."

"I just wish we could…" The younger man trailed off.

"I know Ryou. But you can't. Seto's Catholic, and he doesn't want to give that up. I can look the other way, but I could never marry the two of you."

"I know." Ryou looked sad.

"Come on lad!" Father Connor slapped Ryou on the leg. "Give me a hand. I have to get ready for Mass. Will you get me my chalice out of the back room?"

"Sure." Ryou got up and headed toward the small room behind the altar while the priest unlocked the sanctuary.

It took Ryou a few minutes to find the required item. When he returned to the altar, he noticed that the woman that had watched him singing was gone. He handed the chalice to the cleric and moved to get his bag from the pew halfway down the isle where he had left it.

"Father Connor?" Ryou called. "I got some new cards. Want to see them?"

"I'd love to."

Ryou brought his bag to the front of the church, opening the front pouch and taking out his card case. He opened it and the color drained from his face. His change of heart card was flipped face up on top of his deck. He was positive that it had been on the bottom. He remembered putting it there when he last dueled with Mokuba.

"Ryou? Is there something wrong?"

"No. Nothing's wrong." Ryou replied. //Weird. I know I didn't put it there.//

The older man admired the new additions to his deck, asking a few questions, when he realized how late it was.

"Well, why don't you run along? It's getting late."

"Okay. I'll see you next week Father." Ryou stuffed his card case back into his bag and left to church, opting to walk into town instead of calling for a car.

All the way to Kaiba Corps. office he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched.

~*~*~*~*~

MJ sat in the back of the church, listening to Ryou sing. It was all she could do to suppress the rage that burned within her.

<It was all his fault! He took everything that should rightfully belong to me. He took Bakura from me.> Her eyes narrowed with hate and she gripped the edge of her seat as his voice rang out through the church like an angel's.

She watched Ryou as he finished and sat down next to the priest and engaged him in conversation, unaware that she was able to hear everything they were saying despite their hushed tones. When Ryou looked back at her she smiled encouragingly and flashed him the thumbs up sign.

<So!> MJ thought triumphantly. <The weakling is Kaiba's boyfriend! I thought that's who the little brat was talking about. He wants the rich bastard to marry him, does he? Well, it seems to me that there are some things more important to Kaiba than his little whore. This makes my plan so much sweeter.>

She watched Ryou leave with the priest to the back room and then quickly made her move. Opening his backpack she found his deck of cards and quickly located the one she was looking for, the one which would send a very clear message, and placed it face up on his deck.

With one last smile as she headed towards the door. She looked at the statue of Jesus on the cross at the front of the room.

<Oh Ryou, even your lover's precious religion will not be able to save you when I am finished. There is no place for you in this world.> She opened the door and stepped into the bright afternoon sunlight.

<There is only one thing left for me to do, but first I have to get to a computer> She giggled to herself

"Are you busy?" Ryou poked his head through Seto's office door.

"Very." Seto didn't even look up from the document he was reading.

"Oh." Ryou's voice caught as he began to close the door. "Sorry."

Seto's head snapped up. "Angel? What's wrong?"

"It's…it's okay." Ryou closed the door.

Seto bolted up from his desk and crossed the office in two long strides, wrenching open the door. Ryou was walking past his assistant, head and shoulders slumped.

Seto caught up to him and grabbed him by the arm, spinning him around. He gasped at the look on his lover's unusually pale face.

"See we're not disturbed, for any reason." The brunette said, leading Ryou into his office.

"Yes Mr. Kaiba."

Closing the door, Seto led Ryou over to the couch and sat down, pulling him into his lap. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Ryou cuddled into the taller man, shivering a little, though the room was warm. "Something weird happened at the church today."

"Weird?"

"I went to show Father Connor my new cards and my change of heart was flipped up on the top of my deck."

"So? You probably put it there the last time you dueled." Seto said absently, his mind already back on the contract he had been reading before Ryou came in.

"No. No, I didn't. I put it on the bottom of my deck, just like I always do."

"Angel, I'm sure there's a logical explanation."

"But all the way here, I felt like someone was watching me."

"Mmmm…" Seto wasn't really paying attention, but Ryou's last statement snagged his attention. "You walked?!"

"It's such a nice day…"

"Ryou! What have I told you about that?!"

Ryou cringed. Seto only used his name when he was annoyed.

"But I…"

"You know the trouble we've been having with the press! It's all the PR department can do to keep those vultures away from you! What if someone saw you and cornered you when I wasn't there to run interference?"

"I'm sorry." Ryou's bottom lip trembled under the force of the other's anger.

Seto sighed, his near fury draining from him at the sight. "It's okay angel." He hadn't meant to loose his temper, but he was seriously stressed with these contract negotiations. He tilted Ryou's face up and kissed him gently. "Just please don't do it again?"

"Okay. I'm sorry love."

Seto kissed him again, deeper this time. Ryou moaned as Seto's tongue brushed against his own. He rubbed his hands across the brunette's chest, fingers seeking the buttons on his shirt.

~*~*~*~*~

"Sir! Wait! Mr. Kaiba can't be disturbed!" Seto's assistant stepped in front of the white haired man.

Bakura snarled at the woman and she took a step back. He had felt fear come through the link and he had been searching for Ryou ever since. He knew his hikari would come here if he was scared and nothing was going to stop him from making sure Ryou was alright.

"Out of my way." His tone was deadly.

The woman rallied. "He gave me explicit orders that he wasn't to be bothered." She knew this man. He was a friend of Ryou's. She didn't trust him and, if truth be told, she was scared to death of him. But the last thing she wanted was to incur Seto Kaiba's wrath.

"I've never struck a woman." Bakura smiled evilly. "Until today."

She fell back against the wall with a small squeak at the look in the white haired spirit's eyes and he brushed past her, striding boldly to Seto's office door.

As he threw it open, he heard a small moan.

/Oh fuck. Not again./

He cleared his throat.

Seto and Ryou broke apart, turning towards the door. Bakura ground his teeth in frustration.

Ryou's face was flushed and his lips swollen. As he leaned back, Bakura could see that Seto's shirt was open, small red marks covering his chest.

"I didn't mean to interrupt."

"That's okay Bakura." Seto calmly buttoned up his shirt.

Ryou was having a little more difficulty gathering himself. "Ummm…yami, what are you doing here?"

"I felt you were in trouble Ryou. Is everything alright?" He couldn't tear his gaze from his light's lips.

"I'm fine."

Seto raised an eyebrow at the way Bakura was looking at Ryou. He'd noticed that look often over the last few months. And lately, he'd seen it directed at himself. Something was going on with Bakura and Seto had an idea what it was. It sure would explain the drinking. He hadn't decided yet what he was going to do about it. Ryou seemed totally oblivious to what Bakura was going through.

"Are you sure hikari?"

"Well, something strange did happen, but its okay now."

"Why don't I call a car to take you home angel? I have to get this contract finished."

"Okay," Ryou looked disappointed. "Are you going to be late?"

"I don't know." Seto shook his head. "This whole deal is a mess."

"Problems?" Bakura asked as Seto got up and went to his desk.

"Yeah." Seto picked up the contract. "I had a deal all but signed to distribute the new table top dueling arenas and they've backed out. I've spent millions on research and development. If I can't get them to agree to a new contract, it's going to put a serious dent in the working capital of Kaiba Corp."

Bakura had no idea what Seto was talking about, but he didn't want to ask. The last thing he needed right now was to get into a discussion with his light's lover on business administration and the like. Once Seto got going, it was all but impossible to get him to stop.

"Well, I guess I'll head home too."

"Why don't you catch a ride with me yami?"

"Okay. If it's not too much trouble."

Seto hit the intercom on his phone. "Jody? Please call a car for Ryou and Bakura."

"Y-yes Mr. Kaiba. R-right away."

Turning off the intercom he turned to Bakura with a smile. "What did you do to her?"

Bakura grinned. "Nothing serious. She wasn't going to let me in."

Seto shook his head with a mock sigh. "Great. Now I'll have to give her a raise or something."

Bakura snickered.

"I'll see you at home love." Ryou came to the desk and engaged Seto in a deep kiss.

Seto wrapped his arms around his lover, instantly forgetting Bakura was in the room. He let his hands glide through Ryou's wonderfully soft hair, pulling him closer. Finally, with a sigh of regret, he pulled away, running a finger down Ryou's cheek.

"Go now angel. Or I'll never get home tonight." His husky voice made Bakura shiver.

"I love you Seto."

"I love you too angel."

"Come on yami, let's go." Ryou grabbed Bakura by the hand and dragged him from the room.

Bakura stumbled after his light, his head spinning. /Oh Ra! Why do they have to do that in front of me?/

As they passed by the assistant's desk she looked up. Bakura couldn't resist. He curled his lip into a snarl and looked pointedly at her. She paled considerably.

Bakura chuckled and let Ryou lead him to the elevator.

~*~*~*~*~

"What are you up to tonight yami?"

"Nothing much." Bakura looked out the window of the limo, trying to ignore the fact his hikari was curled up against him.

"Why don't you spend some time with Yami and Yugi?"

Bakura snorted. "I'd rather chew off my own leg thanks."

Ryou giggled. "Are you sure you don't want to spend the night with Seto and me?"

/Oh my light, you don't know how much I do./

"What was that?"

"Nothing hikari." Bakura blocked the link.

"Bakura, why are you blocking me again?"

"I just…" Bakura looked at Ryou, seeing the hurt in his chocolate brown eyes. "I need to be alone with my own thoughts sometimes."

The car began to slow as they turned onto Bakura's street.

"I wish you wouldn't." Ryou got up on his knees and took Bakura's face in his hands, making his yami face him. "When you do that, I think you don't love me anymore yami."

"Ryou…" Bakura began to drown in the beautiful eyes of his light. "Don't think that. I do love you."

Bakura buried his hands in Ryou hair. "So very much." He leaned forward and took Ryou's lips in a fierce kiss, plunging his tongue into the sweet cavern.

/Oh my Ra! He's so sweet. Just like I knew he'd be./

He was lost.

He jolted back to awareness when he realized Ryou was shaking. He pulled away, seeing tears coursing down the other's face.

/Shit! What came over me? Oh Ra!! What have I done?!/

"Hikari, I…"

The car came to a stop and he heard the driver getting out.

"Ryou…"

Ryou just stared at him, tears coming faster.

The door opened.

"I'm so sorry Ryou." Bakura scrambled out of the limo and ran for the house.

He got inside and went to the window, watching as the limo pulled away.

/I'm so fucking stupid! What am I going to do now?/

Bakura wandered through the house, mentally berating himself, until he found himself in the kitchen in front of the cupboard where he kept the liquor. Sighing, he took out a bottle and went to Ryou's room, praying for the quick oblivion the alcohol would give him.

~*~*~*~*~

Ryou was still crying as the limo drove through the gates and up to the mansion. He was in total shock about what had happened.

//Why did yami kiss me like that? Was he drunk again? I don't think he was. So why? Oh gods! Should I tell Seto? I can't! I just can't! He'd be so hurt. Or he'd want to kill Bakura.//

Ryou wiped the tears from his eyes as he got out of the car and headed into the house. He didn't want Mokuba to see him crying.

//Damn you yami! I've never kept anything from Seto before! Damn you for making me hide this from him!//

~*~*~*~*~

MJ sat down at the table in front of the laptop that Keith had stolen for her this morning. It was time to move things along a little faster. She was tired of playing nice to the little runt. She could taste his blood already. With a grin she typed up an e-mail and sent it to his address:

Hey Little Blue Eyes, sorry I have been away so long, but I had some stuff to deal with that kept me pretty busy. I just wanted to let you know that I will be on line tonight and hope you will join me.

Hitotsu-Me

<I wonder if Kaiba knows how easy he has made this for me, he practically drove his brother into my grasp>

With a satisfied chuckle she logged back off and leaned back in her chair. It was nice and quiet since she had sent Keith out to follow Ryou around. Hopefully by now he was nice and paranoid.

<And for good reason weakling, you have a lot to fear>
