You! Off My Planet!
Chapter Three
The first week of classes went by quickly for Joey. He met up with his college buddies and made a few new ones. His ready smile and outgoing personality attracted many people, both males and females. If he had been so inclined, he could easily have a date, or bed partner, for every night of the week. However, the blonde did not to have one night stands anymore. It might have been fun for him during his last year in high school and first year in college, but not anymore. He actually wanted to have a relationship.
It was now Friday afternoon, the end of the first week of college. The blonde felt like celebrating getting through the first week and wanted to party, especially since he did not have to work that evening. He was sitting on the couch with an advanced chemistry textbook open to the first chapter, trying to figure out where to go to have fun. Joey began tapping his pencil on the wooden table just to relieve some boredom and also to annoy his roommate.
Seto hit the keys on his computer keyboard hard, his tolerance nearly shot. He turned his head to glare at the blonde, his cobalt eyes flashing angrily. "MUST you do that?" he asked with contempt in his tone. "I am trying to actually work here, and I cannot have those sorts of distractions. If I don't work, my company loses money. I for one do not like losing money. Would you like it if I annoyed you while you were trying to work? Can you at least have a glimmer of understanding of my point?"
Joey shut his textbook and put it into his backpack, which was on the floor next to the couch. "I can see your point," he began as he stood up, his honey brown eyes piercing, "but I still think you're full of it." He laughed for a moment when he caught his roommate's murderous glare. He flipped his middle finger at the brunette and made his way to his room.
"I am going to kill him," the CEO mumbled in an irate tone. "Or he will kill me…damn, I can't get any work done now. Damn that mutt!" He shut down his computer and stood up. He stretched his long limbs to get the cramps out of them and then grimaced. Seto walked into the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of orange juice and was about to drink it when he heard the mutt go back into the living room. He stood by the kitchen door and listened to Joey pick up the phone and started to dial a number. Being only slightly curious, he eavesdropped on the conversation with whoever the mutt was talking to.
"Yeah, Yami…My roommate's being an ass like always," Joey remarked idly as he twirled the phone cord in his nimble fingers. "What was that? The roller rink? I don't know. Aren't we a little old for that now? Well, yes…I always had fun there with both you and Yugi when we were younger. What? Oh come on! Um…no, I don't have to work tonight or tomorrow, but I do have to work the lunch shift at the restaurant on Sunday. Excuse me?!? Go fuck off Yami! I don't need you to tell me that I need to get laid!"
Seto nearly spat out the juice in his mouth when he heard Joey last exclamation. He really did not want thoughts of the mutt humping anything; those thoughts made him gag. He did spit the orange juice out at the next thing he heard.
"Hell no, Yami! I am not going on another blind date," the blonde had almost yelled out. "The last one Yugi and you set me up on was absolutely horrendous. Never, EVER, let anyone go out on a date with Tea Gardener. She's a bitch from Hell! What? Oh, I'm sorry…she's still stalking you?"
After that, the brunette cleaned up the mess he made on the kitchen walls when he spat out the orange juice. Just the thought of his roommate going out on dates was bad enough…but actually having to go on one with one of the most annoying females on the campus really must have been agony. He shook his head; he couldn't be feeling sorry for the mutt. Maybe he was just feeling pity…yeah, that's it; he felt pity for the mutt. He sighed as he threw away the juice bottle into the trashcan and walked out of the kitchen. He noticed that the blonde wasn't in the living room anymore and he sighed in relief. Maybe, just maybe, he will be able to relax a bit on his couch. There were two couches when Joey first moved in, but now he was down to one. That would be interesting to find out what had happened to the other couch if he could ever wrestle the story from the stupid blonde…
Meanwhile, Joey was in his bedroom, going through his clothes for something to wear. Somehow, both Yami and Yugi (who had picked up the phone to talk to him and Yami at the same time) convinced him to go to the roller rink. He had a sneaking suspicion that his two friends had something planned and he just might not like it. He heaved a sigh when he realized that the outfit he would have worn was still in his laundry basket and he needed to do laundry the next day.
"I did agree to keep the apartment clean and wash the clothes so I don't have to pay the rent," he remarked to himself. The honeyed eyed young man finally found something to wear. It was a pair of black jeans, a deep green button-up shirt that shimmered slightly when light hit it at the right angle. He put those one quickly and then pulled on his favorite pair of black leather boots. He also splashed on some of his favorite cologne, Drakkar Noir [1], just in case that he did meet up with someone interesting at the rink. He grabbed his keys on the way out of his bedroom and went out into the living room. Joey scowled at his roommate, who was staring at him with a really strange expression. He couldn't exactly decipher that look…
"What, moneybags?" the blonde asked in exasperation, running a hand through his hair. "I got a booger hanging out of my nose or something?"
Seto had to stay still when he saw Joey walk back into the living room. To put it mildly, he was shocked. The mutt actually looked decent for a change. The black jeans were relatively tight and showed off long, lean legs while the deep green shirt brought out the color of his roommate's honey brown orbs. He felt something stir in the pit of his stomach when he smelled the cologne. It complemented Joey's personality and looks perfectly. But he definitely would NOT admit that to him. He did have his pride.
"No, it isn't anything vulgar like that," he snorted, his cobalt eyes becoming quite stony. "But it's this…Nice cologne. Must you marinate in it?"
"Ugh! I really despise you, Kaiba," Joey replied acidly, his eyes flashing. "I'm going out. If my sister calls, tell her I went to the Domino Roller Rink to meet up with a couple of my friends."
Seto rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "I am NOT an answering service, mutt."
"And we don't have an answering machine and you didn't get the voice mail when the phone was hooked up here," the blonde said in an annoyed voice. "Do you think you can STOP with those fucking `mutt' comments?"
"Fine…I'll stop with the mutt remarks…PUP."
"Argh! You are fucking impossible, Kaiba!" At that, Joey made his way to the front door.
Seto shook his head in exasperation and grabbed his car keys and followed the blonde. "I'm sure that you forgot that your car, which you so lovingly call a `piece of shit', broke down," he smirked, a patronizing look on his features. "I'll take you to that juvenile place. I'm sure that's the most intellectual thing you have ever done. Did you know that your vocabulary is quite atrocious?"
Joey began to fume inwardly when he walked out into the hallway on the floor they live on. He really shouldn't let the brunette's words affect him the way that they do, but he just can't help it. "Just fuck off, Kaiba," he grumbled as Seto came up behind him and locked the door to their apartment. He then followed the taller young man over to the elevators and then out to the parking garage. A few minutes later, the two of them were speeding off in the direction of the roller rink.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"God, what an atrocious place," Seto exclaimed as he pulled up to the Domino Roller Rink. It looked like it was rundown and tons of kids in their mid to late teens were swarming outside. It was nearly six in the evening by now and the youth of the city were milling around the usual hangouts.
"I take it that the Great Seto Kaiba never deigned to grace the lowlifes of Domino by going to the roller rink," Joey remarked sarcastically, earning an icy glare from the aforementioned CEO. "You probably never roller-skated in your entire life."
Seto parked his car, a brand new black Jaguar, in a spot that was well lit. "Do you really believe that, pup?" He decided that he liked calling the blonde `pup' instead of mutt. He seemed to get a better reaction out of that.
Joey shook his head and sighed. "Kaiba, you could have just dropped me off. Why are you parking? Are you actually going to try and skate? I don't believe that you can skate. Me, I'm one of the best that this rink has ever seen."
"Is that a challenge, Wheeler?" If it was one thing, the brunette never backed down from a challenge. Especially if the challenge came from someone he actively disliked.
"I wasn't thinking of it that way…but I bet I can out skate you any day of the week!"
A strange gleam shone from the CEO's cobalt eyes, almost making Joey take a step back. He wasn't sure what that look meant, but it didn't bode well for the blonde.
"Hmm…how about this, pup…if you beat me, I'll give you the password to my computer so you can use it," Seto suggested, the strange gleam in his eyes still showing.
"And if you win…what do you want from me?" The blonde gulped, knowing that it was probably going to be something humiliating.
The brunette smirked evilly at Joey, making the shorter man take a step backwards unconsciously. "If I win, you have to bark every time one of your friends says your name, pup," he smirked even more, "for the entire time that we are here in this godforsaken establishment."
Joey knew that he was trapped. If he back out of his own bet, he would look like a wuss in front of his bastard of a roommate. But if he lost the bet, he would be humiliating himself in front of his friends. On the other hand, if he won, he would be able to use that fantastic computer Seto had.
"You're on, moneybags," he replied, accepting the bet. "I never back down from challenges."
Seto raised an eyebrow at that statement. `Interesting…we actually have one thing in common...' he thought to himself as he followed the pup into the rink. He nearly had to cover his ears from the music that was pulsating loudly when they entered. He looked around and saw two young men who seemed to look almost identical. They both had tri-colored hair of red, blonde and black. However, one was taller than the other and had more blonde streaks in his hair and had red eyes. He did recognize the shorter one as the runt, Yugi Mutou, a friend of his little brother. They did not see him and Joey enter the building so he pulled the blonde aside.
"Wheeler, I'll give you fifteen minutes to get with your pathetic friends before we begin. We will skate as fast as we can until one of us has to stop from exhaustion. But if you can keep up with me for ten minutes, you win. However, if you can't, or you have to stop, I win."
There was a look of arrogance in his eyes that unsettled Joey but he tried not to let it get to him. "You're on, moneybags," he remarked with confidence that he wasn't sure that he felt. He went over to the counter, rented out a pair of skates and started to make his way over to his two friends. However, he did not realize that Seto was silently following him. He had already rented his skates but not without obvious disdain on his face.
The brunette went over to a bench to put on the skates when he noticed a young man with brown hair that appeared to have a spike in the front. This man was behind Joey and that bothered Seto for some odd reason. Luckily, he was close enough to hear what was being said.
"Well, hello there. I haven't seen you here before," the brown haired young man remarked, an amused look on his face.
Joey didn't turn around, not exactly sure if he should. He shrugged as he put his skates on an empty bench. "It's been years since I've been here last," he answered lightly. He liked the sound of the man's voice…it was rather soothing in a light tenor. "A couple of my friends asked me to come here tonight. I suppose it is to relive some old times."
The man laughed. "You sound like you've seen the world," he remarked, his voice gentle and friendly.
"No, but I've seen a lot in my life, that's for sure." The blonde really liked the sound of this man's voice; it made him shiver. "However, I think that my `dear friends' probably set up some poor soul in thinking I would like him."
"Interesting, that was my thought as well," the other chuckled. "I was told that some really hot guy was going to be here by a friend of mine."
Joey laughed softly, the calm sound reaching Seto's ears. The brunette did not understand why the pup was responding to the stranger. It was almost as if he wanted such attentions…The blonde turned around to see who was speaking to him and smiled when the other began to talk again.
"I'm Tristan…Tristan Taylor."
Joey turned his head and tilted it to one side to see the young man talking to him. He was attractive, that's for sure, with brown hair and nice brown eyes. He was also taller than the blonde, but not by much, so that was a definitely plus in his eyes.
"Nice to meet you, Tristan…I'm Joey Wheeler. I take it that you're one of Yami's friends."
"That's right…Yami was right, you are pretty good looking."
"Heh…thanks. You aren't too bad yourself."
During this whole exchange, Seto wanted nothing more than to get out of there as soon as possible. He never knew that Joey was gay. From the way the mutt acted, he thought that he was straight. That was when he remembered the bet. He smirked as he finally got his rented skates on his feet and went out to the rink to do a few leisurely laps. During this time, he kept a surreptitious eye on his blonde roommate.
Joey chatted with Tristan for a bit while they both put on their skates. During that time, he found out that he had several things in common with the slightly taller male and he was happy about that. He glanced at Yami and Yugi and gave them the two thumbs up sign, meaning that he approved of this guy. Maybe now he could finally let his feelings free and love someone.
Meanwhile, the CEO scowled at how friendly Joey was acting towards that brown haired idiot…what was his name? Oh yes, it was Tristan Something-or-other. It was only fitting that the pup would pick someone who was probably a dog like himself. He snorted a bit as he rudely pushed by a couple of girls who were more interested in talking about their boyfriends than where they were going.
"Hey, watch what you're doing you geek!" one of the girls called out. "You don't just push by people like that!"
Seto rolled his eyes and kept on skating, drawing the looks and glares of many of the rink patrons while he ignored the irate girl. One of them was Joey, shaking his head at the rudeness of his roommate. His crimson eyed friend, Yami, shook his head as well while his other friend, Yugi, stood there with his amethyst eyes wide. The blonde, along with Tristan, went over to talk to those two for a few minutes before heading out onto the rink.
Joey skated leisurely for a moment before someone decided to push him from behind. He turned around to yell at the idiot who did that and was taken aback at who it was. Seto had come up behind him swiftly and pushed him to get the pup's attention. However, what did startle the blonde for a moment was the look in the brunette's cobalt eyes. He couldn't decipher it completely but there seemed to be some sort of anger burning within those orbs.
"The race starts now, pup," the CEO remarked icily as he suddenly took off in a burst of speed. This pissed the blonde greatly at having no real warning about the race. He skated as fast as he could, catching up with his roommate. He couldn't believe that Kaiba was skating so effortlessly, making him look like a complete amateur. But he'll be damned if he showed any signs of weakness in front of the bastard.
Meanwhile, Yugi, Yami and Tristan were skating slowly, watching the two young men race around the roller rink. The two were darting in and around the other skaters, causing a few collisions with their speed. Yugi sighed softly as he skated to the edge of the rink and stopped. Yami followed him while Tristan just kept on skating.
"What's wrong, Yugi?" the taller tri-color haired male asked, wrapping an arm around the shorter.
"It's about Joey, Yami," Yugi began softly as he watched his friend try to keep up with the CEO. "He seems to be a little different, don't you think? He's been more sarcastic, more…I don't know what…but maybe it wasn't a good idea for Mokuba to suggest that he room up with his brother."
Yami shrugged and hugged the little one to him. "I don't know, Yugi. Did you ask Mokuba why he wanted Joey to be Kaiba's roommate?"
The amethyst eyed young man shook his head and sighed. He cared deeply for his best friend and did not want him hurt in any way. "No…I never did."
In the meantime, Joey was beginning to get tired and tried not to show it to the bastard. He almost collided with a few people but managed to get away from them. He just couldn't believe how calm Kaiba was and it bothered him that his roommate did not even look just a little bit tired. They had been skating for eight minutes now and he was pushing himself to his limits.
He checked the clock as they raced passed it and almost sighed in relief. `One more minute,' the blonde thought to himself as he weaved in and out of the other skaters. Just as he was about to try and pass Seto, he lost control of his skates and ran right into another person. Both of them fell down to the firm surface of the rink very hard, Joey cracking his head on the rink. He saw stars for a moment and tried to sit up, but felt quite nauseous.
"Stay still…you hit the floor very hard," a soothing voice replied. Joey felt a cool hand on his forehead and tried to bring his vision into focus. When he could finally see clearly, he saw that Yami and Yugi were kneeling beside him and the person he knocked over. His face grew red when he realized that it was the good looking guy, Tristan, which he bowled over.
"Um…sorry about that, Tristan," the blonde apologized quickly, his face getting redder at the way Tristan was smirking at him.
"It's okay…it's not often that someone literally falls for me…or rather, on me," Tristan remarked as he gave Joey a wink.
Joey smiled softly at the brown eyed man and was about to say something when he caught a glare from Seto. He gulped for a moment when he remembered the bet. By running into someone and falling down, he lost. That meant he had to bark whenever his friends, probably Tristan as well, called him by his first name.
"How are you doing Joey?" Yugi asked, quite concerned for his friend. He got a confused look on his face when the blonde barked. "Are you feeling okay?"
The honey eyed male sighed and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine, Yugi…I just feel a little woozy."
"Joey," Yami began and then Joey barked once more. "Maybe you should go home."
The blonde barked again when Tristan tried to call his name. "O-okay…maybe you should go to the hospital, Joey," the pointy haired man suggested as Joey barked again.
By this time, Yami, Yugi and Tristan were saying `Joey' so many times that Seto had to keep himself from laughing out loud. He was finally enjoying himself by watching his roommate's humiliation. He went over to the blonde and smirked while Joey gave him a death glare.
"What do you want, moneybags?" Joey remarked through clenched teeth.
"I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public," Seto remarked, a small laugh escaping his lips. It was not a kind sound to the blonde's ears.
`Just you wait, Seto Kaiba, I'm going to make you pay for this,' Joey thought to himself as he barked once more when Yugi called out his name.

Chapter Four preview:
"So, how long have we been going out now?" Tristan asked, pulling the blonde closely as they sat on the couch.
Joey snuggled closely and smiled up at his boyfriend. "Two weeks, Tristan," he answered breathlessly. "Two whole glorious weeks."
The brown haired male grinned at his boyfriend and pulled him even closer. "And what would you like to do tonight, eh?"
Before Joey could even answer, his lips were claimed in a furious kiss by Tristan. He melted into the kiss, relishing the sensations that were being transmitted to him. He never felt so happy in his entire life. He let his hands roam over the other's body and began to unbutton Tristan's shirt. Just as he reached the waistband, the door was flung open. Both he and his brown eyed lover broke apart and sat at the opposite ends of the couch. The blonde looked up and stared into cold, cobalt eyes.
"Next time you decide to hump someone, pup, do it in the other's own place," Seto sneered, his face appeared to be quite angry. "I don't like being kept awake at night with the sounds of a bitch in heat."
