Chapter 7

It did not take long for the three of them to get along. Between tomb robbing, they practiced what Bakura called `Ka dueling'. He had been surprised to find sparring partners, and Maha's Magician of Illusion and Yami's Black Luster Soldier were good opponents for his Diabound.
Though he did wonder why her Ka was male, if it had a gender at all. Empty glowing armor was not he had expected from the seemingly delicate woman.
But then again, perhaps it was an illusion.
He did feel some small measure of jealousy, though, as he watched them. His quest for vengeance had left him little time for love, and sometimes he regretted that choice.
The spirits liked them too, although they could not stop cackling with glee when they inspected Bakura's new friends.
Ah well. The dead had fancies at times…
He ignored it. After two years of work, it was finally time. The other tombs had been easy, but now, they would be breaking into the Nameless pharaoh's tomb. The man had been a decent king, if unfortunately related to Akunumkanon, but his cheating uncle Akunadin had bumped him off before the crown was heavy upon his head, and ah, it was a pity to die so young…the young man had been barely fifteen.
Now, Akunadin had stepped down and Set wore the double crown. It mattered little. Both of them would pay for the destruction of Kuru Eruna.
“Yami. Maha. Are you two ready?”
Maha smiled as the bracers on her arms glittered. Her fingers held several rings, but they were no decorations. She wore a short white tunic and kilt, instead of a proper woman's robes, but this was more convenient.
Yami could have been a Pharaoh himself. His hair had grown out, black tipped with ruby, though it still had a ways to go before it was of a proper length. He was dressed in fine black linen, gold winking from a multitude of surfaces.
Bakura smoothed down his rich red robe as he nodded. Maha and Yami had somehow managed to attain three of the Sennen Items - his family's items - and they had been willing to share.
Bakura could not wield the Tauk, or the Ring, but the Scales, for some reason, fit his hands well.
Now, he carried them tucked in his belt as the trio set out.

Maha had a good eye for Traps - Bakura thought it was probably the Ring. One thing did bother him a bit though. With the way Yami and Maha screwed each other silly, he wouldn't have been surprised if their place was full of little brattling thieves. Ah well, perhaps she was sterile.
It was none of his concern, really.

It was so easy, though. Maha smiled as she and Yami began collecting up their valuables - they could live the rest of their lives like kings, if they were careful, but Court was much too dangerous, so they only left to buy supplies.
Bakura was planning to make a grand proclamation, and they had seen Diabound, and even their own Ka, grow in strength and power as the years had passed.
Things might be interesting.
They would go with him, of course.
It was only fitting.
Bakura finally finished getting through the layers of the Sarcophagus - oh? It was the wrong tomb after all, as this seemed to be former Pharaoh Akunumkanon's, curse his name. Well, it made no difference! The deed was done, and the three smiled at each other.
Let the Games begin!

“Thief King Bakura!”
“No.” Another guard sounded horrified. “Who are those with him?”
It was good for intimidation purposes, so they were wearing their Items. Yami honestly didn't know why the Ring didn't work for him, but he was wearing the Tauk, despite its feminine appearance.
And then Set was summoning, something, and this was familiar, only different, and Bakura laughed as Diabound easily destroyed Gadius and Two-Headed Jackal Warrior.
Why was this so familiar? Had they dueled before the Forgetting?
Yami swept his hood off his face, ignoring the gasps, and Maha sighed. He was so reckless. She still called him Pharaoh, but only when they were alone.
Well, since they had already lost the element of surprise… they might as well help out!

Akunadin was stunned. Those two - the man and the woman - were obviously Yami and Mahaado. How - why were they still alive? Why?
And how had they gotten the Tauk?
And why did Bakura have the Scales? Perhaps he had stolen them, after all… oh, if he knew of its power…
But no, fate could not turn this on them! Not when his son was finally king!

Set growled. He may not have the Gods, but he did have his White Dragon. Kisara's spirit smiled as the Blue Eyes materialized before Diabound, firing off a White Lightning at point-blank range…
Except then a second Ka shimmered into being, and somehow, managed to absorb the attack!
Maha smirked as her Magician of Illusion opened Hades Time Space Portal. A moment later, she fired the energy back at he white dragon, just as Diabound released its Spiral Wave attack.
Yami looked slightly bored, but a closer look showed that his Black Luster Soldier had been busy taking care of the guards that were scattered around.
Fools!
Shadah coughed blood as he winced. It could not be…
Set looked absolutely furious. He also looked dazed. The fingers that held the Sennen Rod were clenched around its hilt, pale and white.
Akunadin felt the world shatter as Bakura none so calmly explained the creation of the Sennen Items. Maha and Yami looked vaguely disturbed, but they had seen a great many evil things in the past two years.
It mattered little.
She closed her eyes, and he held her as Bakura's Diabound mercilessly attacked again. There was still a shred of innocence in her body, after all, and perhaps he had the same…
There were several wet thumps amidst the screaming. Bakura collected the remaining four Items, tossing the Puzzle to Yami casually.
He caught it, and it glowed.
It felt… right, like it belonged. But it mattered little.
Leaving a burning Palace behind them, three thieves took for the hills.
No one noticed the tears of blood on a dead man's face.

Should Yami get his memories back? Sure, it would make him angst, but he might also do something noble and stupid…
Mahaado might get his.
