Yu-Gi-Oh: After-lives
Chapter Two- Just Having Fun

Jami was going crazy. She had to finish planning her wedding, but her mother would not leave her alone. She and Joey were sitting down right now with her to set things straight.

“Now,” Lisa Ellis-Tory, Jami's mother said. “I want to go ahead and call the church to book it and be ready for the wedding in a few months.”

Jami squeezed Joey's hand, and he knew why. Her mother would not give up the church thing. She was always playing the “Every Tory woman has been married there; It's what your father wants” card. But the couple had already made their decision of where they wanted to get married.

They had already called, and they had made the decision to get married in Germany, outside a castle in the garden. Jami and Joey had taken a trip to the castle a year before for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives.

“Then when that's done, we can go to the bridal salon and find a dress,” her mother carried on.

Jami bit her lip. She didn't WANT to go dress shopping. She already had a dress designer coming in a few days to help her with designing her dress. She had the whole gown in her head.

“We can find a ball gown type dress…or maybe a mermaid style!” Lisa said. Jami squeezed Joey's hand as she made a face. She hated the idea of wearing a mermaid gown.

Joey tangled a hand in Jami's hair. “Mom…” she said. But Lisa wasn't listening.

“We'll get a veil and a pair of heals and-”

“MOM!”

Lisa stopped in mid-sentence. Jami had tears in her eyes while she continued squeezing Joey's hand. He had moved the other hand to the top of her back.

“You aren't listening to me…” she said.

“Okay then,” Lisa said. “What style of dress do you want?”

“That's not what I meant!” Jami screamed. “You're not listening to what I want for my wedding.” Joey just downcast his eyes as Jami rose to her feet.

“This is MY wedding, NOT YOURS!” Jami yelled. “I don't want to get married in a church.” Her mother started to open her mouth, but Jami cut her off. “I want to get married in Germany. Joey and I have already done most of the necessary arrangements. I don't want to go dress shopping, because I already have someone coming to help me design my own dress. I don't want to have a cake like yours and dad's was, because Téa and Serenity are doing it, and Joey and I have already figured it out. I'm not going to do what YOU want, because this wedding is what JOEY AND I WANT!”

Jami couldn't see, because tears were covering her eyes and she couldn't breathe, because she just used most of her energy. She didn't move at all and Joey knew she wasn't breathing at all.

“Jami,” he said as he stood up and patted her back. She took in a shaky breath and exhaled at the same beat. She swallowed as Joey wiped some tears from her face. Without looking at her mother, he placed a kiss next to her eye. He always kissed her there when she was upset.

He took her hand as she got to breathing steady again and her tears were gone. Lisa sat there in shock, barely breathing herself. She couldn't believe her daughter just yelled at her.

She regained her normal composer and spoke up. “I just wanted to take the stress of it off of you sweetheart.”

Jami looked at her mother and started to move towards her. “Mom, it's not that I don't want you help. I just want the wedding to be what I want; and what Joey wants.” She sat down next to her mother. “This wedding you don't have to worry about Mom. We've got it all figured out. I just want you to be who you are for this wedding…Mother of the Bride.”

Her Mom smiled and hugged her daughter. “I'm sorry Jami; I never meant to be like this.” They separated and looked at each other. “It's your wedding, do what you want.”

“Thanks Mom,” Jami said. She kissed her Mom's cheek before standing up. Joey's phone started to ring.

He answered. “Hello?”

Hey Joe, what's up?

“Not much going on here Tristan.”

Look, I know you're planning your wedding, but I got these awesome tickets for tonight.

Jami and her mom were talking in hushed voices as Jami collected her stuff.

“For what man?”

For the duel tournament that's in town. You wanna come? The rest of us are going, and I've got six tickets.

Joey covered the phone and looked at Jami. “Tristan's got tickets for the tournament and wants to know if we want to go.”

“Sure,” Jami said happily. “It's been awhile since I've seen an adult tournament.”

He uncovered it. “We'll come. The first round is tonight, right?”

Yeah. Meet me and Serenity at Yugi's in an hour, alright Joe?

“Got it. See ya in a bit man.”

See ya.

An hour later, Joey and Jami pulled up in her Mercedes-Benz at Yugi's. Her butler James was the one driving and took off back home with it. Jami didn't let anyone besides James or Joey drive the car besides her. It was her baby.

“Hey guys!” Yugi said as he answered the door.

“Hey Yug!” Joey said, giving Yugi a high five. Jami smiled and gave Yugi a peck on the cheek before heading into the living room through the shop to Téa and Serenity.

“Jami!” Serenity said the moment she saw her. The girls embraced until Joey and Yugi walked in.

“Brother!” she squealed as she hugged Joey.

He leaned down and hugged her back, burying his face in her shoulder.

“Hi sis,” he said into her ear. “I've missed you Serenity.”

“I've missed you too Joey,” she answered. They separated and Joey got a good look at what his little sister was wearing.

She looked really cute. She had on a pair of dark washed blue jeans and a cerulean t-shirt with “DUEL” right across it in brown letters.

He thought about what everyone was wearing. Jami had on her favorite pair of kaki capris with her “Jami Tory Academy: Founder & Principal” dark blue polo on. Téa was wearing a white skirt that reached her knees and a red blouse.

Tristan had on a pair of light brown pants with a matching jacket with a blue t-shirt on underneath. Yugi was wearing blue jeans with his typical black tank top. Though, right next to him, was a blue jean jacket with his name embossed over the left breast pocket.

`Téa,' Joey thought. He then got a good look at himself. He was wearing a pair of black pants and a dark green t-shirt with his favorite black jean jacket over it.

“We all look good,” Jami teased. Téa and Serenity burst out laughing and Joey blushed. He quickly looked away to get rid of it before facing everyone else again.

“So…are we taking “The Boss”?” Téa asked. The Boss was a van that the boys had found in a scrap yard earlier that year. They had worked endlessly for weeks to fix it up and finally got it running and working. They nicknamed it “The Boss” because it had to be turned on a certain way and sometimes sped up or slowed down all by itself.

“Of course!” Tristan said. “What else would we use to travel!” He laughed and so did everyone else.

“Seems like you kids are having fun,” Solomon said from the doorway to the kitchen.

“Always Grandpa,” Yugi said with a chuckle. His Grandpa smiled. Yugi had been getting so happy since the end of High School; especially since he was getting married to his best friend.

“We're not kids anymore Gramps,” Joey said. “We're in our 20s!”

“Speak for yourself JOEY!” Serenity said. She had just graduated High School and was now working to get into college. This night was one of her rare nights she didn't have to be at Cram School, so Tristan made sure to make the most of it.

“Sorry sis,” he said. Jami smacked him on the arm. “OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?”

“For being the dorkiest fiancée on the planet!” she said. Everyone cracked up laughing and soon the couple joined them. They all laughed so hard, they barely noticed the time.

“Hey guys,” Tristan said loud enough to get their attention. “We got to get going. The tournament starts in an hour.”

“Okay, let's get going then,” Jami said, pulling the other two girls by the hand.

“Bye Grandpa Moto!” they all called.

“Bye girls!” he called back. He then looked over at the three boys. “Be careful and have fun boys.”

“Always Grandpa,” Yugi said again.

“See ya Gramps!” Tristan and Joey said together. They all left and Solomon sighed.

“They never change…”

“Ms. Jami!”

“Hi Bradley! I didn't know you worked here!” Jami said to the young boy behind the counter. He was one of her students in the High Advanced course at her school. The older students normally called her “Ms. Tory”, but the ones that had grown up being taught by her still called her “Ms. Jami”.

“Yeah,” the blonde answered. “It's a part time job. I have a bunch of summer homework so I can't work full time.”

“You studying hard so you can take more dueling courses this year?” she asked. Tristan was still looking for the tickets while Serenity helped and Téa griped at him for not giving them to one of the girls for more protection.

“Yes m'am,” he answered. “I want to take more classes so I can join the Tutoring Club when I graduate.”

“Very good,” Jami said with a smile. She could hear Téa's voice rising and Yugi trying to calm her down. She could also feel her fiancée inch closer to her to get away from their scary friend. “We can use more dedicated Tutors. Were you thinking for the younger kids or the older students?”

“I want to tutor the newbies,” he said. “You know, show them the ropes and get them ready.”

“Good idea,” she said. “I'll really need that after this next year. I'll need you for the first three weeks of school next year then.”

“It's only if I get to take the classes and pass though Ms. Jami,” Bradley said with a blush.

“Oh, you'll make it,” she said with a smile. “I have total faith in you. Get some ideas for your dueling strategy by watching some of the duelists out here today, alright?”

“Yes m'am,” he answered.

“Found `em,” Tristan said as he handed Bradley the six tickets, all scrunched up.

“Where did you find them?” Joey asked.

“In his back pants pocket!” Téa said angrily. “The button over the pocket made him think that there wasn't even a pocket there!”

“You didn't even feel them?” Jami asked.

“No,” he answered. “Been sitting on them the whole way here, so they felt like part of my pants.”

Jami caught her laugh in her throat and fought hard to keep it from surfacing. Joey watched her shoulders shake as she broke out into laughter.

“So you're saying they became part of your ass?” she asked.

Yugi caught on and started laughing too. Serenity began giggling at the joke and Téa tried hard to keep a straight face.

“I've got some weird friends, huh Brad?” Joey asked Bradley as the young man nodded and handed back the ticket stubs.

“Seems like you guys have a lot of fun though Mr. J,” Brad answered.

“Yeah. There's always fun for us,” Joey answered. “Better get some good, close friends. They'll last a lifetime.”

Bradley nodded and chuckled. “Already got two awesome friends; I'm hoping to add more.”

“It's a good start,” the older one answered as he winked and put his arm around Jami's shoulder.

The group started into the stadium, looking for their seats so they could watch the duels.

^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^

“That was awesome!” Jami said. She was sitting in the back of “The Boss” with Serenity partially cuddled up to her. Téa was in the seat in front of them with a sleeping Yugi. He and the guys had had an eating contest at the restaurant they had gone to. It was an all-you-can-eat-buffet (The Lisa Buffet) and the boys had taken full advantage of it. Yugi, who had lost first, had passed out from all of the food that filled his belly.

The winner of the competition, Tristan, slept in the front passenger seat. And the guy in second place, Joey, was the one driving. He was the only one of the guys that could stay awake after so much food. HECK! Joey had eaten ALL of Jami's Mom's famous Buffalo wings for dinner (about 61 wings that she had finished) and STILL ate two big slices of pie, AND was the one that drove home.

“It was one of the best tournaments I've been to,” Téa said. Yugi turned over on the seat, his nose now poking her side. She lightly stroked his cheek, liking it when her Yugi slept.

Serenity fidgeted and cuddled into Jami's shoulder. The older girl smiled and kissed her future sister-in-law's forehead.

“Let's go back to our place,” Joey said from the front. “Everyone can just stay with us and leave in the morning.”

“What time is it?” Téa asked, looking forward at Joey in the rearview mirror.

“It's about 2:30 a.m.”

She turned back to Jami. “We'll stay with you guys tonight.”

Jami giggled at Téa's animation. And it wasn't like it mattered if the others stayed with them or not. Their apartment was two stories of the Tory High Rise and had enough bedrooms for an entire major league baseball team: if each player had their own room and including coaches. And could have MORE!

“You're usual room then Téa?” Jami asked.

“Of course!” she responded. Jami laughed as she cupped her hand over Serenity's ear, trying not to wake her yet.

The other couples had stayed at the apartment before, claiming their own rooms. Tristan and Serenity first, back when the couples were all still in high school. Serenity was staying with Jami and Joey because hers and Joey's mom let her stay the weekend. Tristan stayed over the same night because he got kicked out of his house (He's been staying with his sister and she had a hissy fit and threw him out). They slept in different rooms and claimed them as theirs.

Yugi and Téa had stayed over when the dorms weren't open yet, but they didn't want to go back home. They stayed in conjoined rooms until the dorms opened and everyone left.

Joey pulled The Boss into the parking lot and parked it in its usual spot. He turned and looked at Tristan.

`Oh this'll be fun,' he thought.

^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^

Somehow Joey, Jami, and Téa got everyone upstairs. Téa woke Yugi up enough to lead him to the elevator and into his bed. Jami piggy backed Serenity the whole way. Joey…poor Joey…had to basically drag Tristan into the elevator and into his bed (he had eaten so much that he was too heavy for Joey to carry on his back).

After everyone was in bed and goodnights between the awake couple and Téa were done, the midnight two stood in the middle of their fancy living room.

“So how was today Sweetheart?” he asked as his hands snaked to her hips and around to her lower back.

“Awesome. We haven't had that kind of fun in a long time,” Jami answered him.

He sighed. “Yeah; fun like this is scarce now isn't it?” Joey asked her.

“Uhuh…” They drifted off in thought, looking at each others face in the dark room. The only light was that of the street lamps and the moon through the windows.

“So Mr. Wheeler,” she finally said. “Can you believe it's only a few weeks away?” She wrapped her hands around to his butt and put her hands into his back pockets.

“Are you ready to be Mrs. Joseph Wheeler?” he asked her as he put his face closer to hers.

“I've been waiting forever for it,” she answered. His lips captured hers in the passionate embrace. The two separated and spent a few minutes gazing at each other in the moonlight before heading off to bed.

Author Note: I am so sorry for such a long wait. I did realize that I haven't updated for over a year, and I realize that that's bad…*raises hands like the Japanese* I'M SORRY! I didn't mean for it to have been such a long time. This chapter was supposed to be so much longer, but trying to get to the wedding just wasn't working. So I changed the chapter to fit right before the next scene and made it a stand alone chapter.

This now makes the story a 20 chapter story with a prologue and epilogue. *sigh* I really need to buckle down and work…lol.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter! PLZ R&R!
