Jaden: Well, we’d better get ready to go.

Thomas: Hey, what’s goin’ on Jaden?

Syrus: We’re going to Duel Academy.

Bastion: But the helicopter isn’t ready yet.

Announcer (Over PA): Will duelist 271 please come to the duel arena.

Thomas: Hmmm… This’ll be good. Be right back.

Bastion: Huh? Where are you going.

Thomas: To watch this flunkey duel.

As Thomas got to the rail looking over the stadium (followed closely by Jaden, Syrus, Bastian, and somehow, Alexis), he saw this wild girl with neon-green hair, a tight-leather shirt and a leather skirt with cold, red eyes enter for her entrance duel exam.

Thomas: Whoa!

Duel Proctor: What is your name, applicant?

Green-haired girl: *in a dark voice* My name is Alex Kaze.

Proctor: Well, Alex, let’s duel. My move.

P-4000 A-4000

Proctor: I summon Skilled Dark Magician (1900/1700) and set 1 card. Go.

Alex: I summon Fire Dominatrix*.

Fire Dominatrix – FIRE – Level 4 – Warrior/Effect – When this card is summoned, destroy 1 monster in play. – 1600 ATK – 1000 DEF

Alex: This destroys your Magician.

Proctor: I activate Divine Wrath. By discarding 1 card, I negate your effect and destroy your monster.

Syrus: Well, she walked right into that one. What do you think, Jay?

Jaden: Not a bad move.

Thomas: She’s beautiful….

Alexis: Uh, what did you say?

Alex: I set 4 cards and end my turn.

Proctor: I play Gather Your Mind to add one Gather Your Mind to my hand and give my monster a Spell Counter. Next, I’ll summon Breaker the Magical Warrior (1600/400), who gets a counter automatically.

Alex: Chain with Trap Hole, destroying Breaker.

Proctor: Not bad. Skilled Dark Magician, attack!

Alex: I activate Call of the Haunted to revive Fire Dominatrix.

Proctor: I’ll chain with Mystical Space Typhoon from my hand.

Alex: You can do that?

Proctor: On my turn, yes. Anyway, your Trap is destroyed and it fizzles out because it is a Continuous Trap.

P-4000 A-2100

Alex: My move. I play Pot of Greed to draw 2 cards.

Proctor: Yes, well my Magician now gets his third Spell Counter.

Alex: So what? I play Battle Footballer (1000/2100) in defense mode. Go.

Proctor: My move; and I activate Skilled Dark Magician’s ability. I sacrifice him to summon Dark Magician (2500/2100). Next, I play Skilled White Magician (1700/1900) and play Gather Your Mind to add the third one to my hand and give him a Spell Counter. Dark Magician, attack!

*Battle Footballer destroyed*

Proctor: Skilled White Magician, attack!

P-4000 A-0400

Alex: My turn. Now I play Fissure to destroy your White Magician. Then I play Card of Sanctity, so we each draw until we hold 6 cards.

Thomas: Beautiful….

Syrus: Uh, are you okay, Thomas?

Bastian: Yes, you’re acting a little strange.

Thomas: I’m gonna ask her out.

J/S/B/A: WHAT?!?

Alexis: She looks like bad news.

Bastian: I wouldn’t want to go out with her.

Jaden: Yeah, I wanna got out with Alexis.

Alexis: huh?

Jaden: Whoops! Did I say that out loud?

Alex: I play Soul Exchange to sacrifice Dark Magician, allowing me to summon Diamond Blader*.

Diamond Blader – EARTH – Level 6 – Warrior/Effect – When this card damages your opponent, you gain 1000 Life Points.

Alex: Attack!

*4 seconds later*

Nothing’s happening.

Alex: Huh?

Proctor: Your Soul Exchange forbids you to take a Battle Phase this turn.

Alex: Fine then; go.

Proctor: I will. I summon Gold Warrior*.

Gold Warrior – LIGHT – Level 4 – Warrior/Effect – When this card is summoned, destroy the monster in play with the highest ATK. – 1850 ATK – 900 DEF

Proctor: He can automatically slay your Diamond Blader, so he will.

Alex: Fine, then I’ll activate Ultra Retaliation*.

Ultra Retaliation – TRAP – Use when one of your monsters is destroyed by a monster effect. Summon a Retaliation Token with stats identical to the stats of that effect monster.

Retaliation Token: 1850/900

Proctor: Now I play Legendary Sword – Phoenix Blade to power my monster up by 300 ATK points. (2150/900). Attack her token!

P-4000 A-0100

Alex: My move. I end my turn.

Proctor: Gold Warrior, attack!

Alex: Activate Nutrient Z! I gain 4000 Life Points prior to the attack.

P-4000 A-1950

Proctor: I summon Silver Warrior* and end my turn.

Silver Warrior – LIGHT – Level 4 – Warrior – 2000 ATK – 0 DEF

Alex: I set 1 card and summon Electric Blazer*.

Electric Blazer – LIGHT – Level 4 – Thunder/Effect – If this card deals damage to your opponent, this card loses ATK equal to the damage dealt. – 2500 ATK – 0 DEF

Alex: Attack Gold Warrior!

P-3650 A-1950

Electric Blazer: 2150/0

Proctor: I’ll summon Diamond Warrior.

Diamond Warrior – LIGHT – Level 4 – Warrior – 1000 ATK – 2200 DEF

Proctor: Diamond Warrior, attack!

Syrus: Why would he do that?

Bastion: Of course! Whenever Alex’s monster damages her opponent, it loses strength.

Jaden: Say what?

Thomas: Beautiful…

Bastion: Oh for goodness’ sake!

P-2500 A-1950

Electric Blazer: 1000 ATK

Proctor: Silver Warrior, attack!

Alex: I activate Altar for Tribute to sacrifice my monster and gain 2500 Life Points.

Proctor: Then I attack you directly!

P-2500 A-2450

Alex: My turn. I set 1 card and summon Wind Dominatrix*.

Wind Dominatrix – WIND – Level 4 – Warrior/Effect – When this card is summoned, return 1 monster in play to its owner’s hand. – 1600 ATK – 1000 DEF

Alex: She’ll blast your Warrior to your hand and then hit you directly.

P-0900 A-1950

Proctor: I summon Silver Warrior and attack!

P-0900 A-1550

Proctor: I set a card and end my turn.

Alex: I play Graceful Charity. I draw 3 cards and discard 2. Now I set 3 cards facedown and play Cyber Harpie (1800/1300). Go.

Proctor: I summon Obnoxious Celtic Guard (1400/1200). Silver Warrior, attack!

Alex: Activate Blast With Chain. This adds 500 ATK to my monster (2300/1300).

Proctor: Windstorm of Equata switches your monster into defense mode.

Alex: Solemn Judgement negates it!

Alex: My move. Harpy, attack!

Jaden: Wow, she made it in.

Bastion: Well, that was a surprise. Especially when she was down 4000 to 100.

Thomas: *to Jaden* what kind of movies do they show on campus?

Jaden: *anime fall!*
