Yu-gi-oh, Seth's departure.
Chapter four.
It was two weeks after Seth's departure, and Seto was working quietly. A bit too quiet for him. In fact, ever since Seth left, the house had been eerily quiet. Except ofcourse when Mokuba was playing videogames, or wining for candy. The CEO leaned back and wondered vaguely whether his yami was lying dead in a gutter, or had just landed himself in jail somehow. Just when he had a mental image of Seth getting hit by a bus, the doorbell rang. Seto sighed and walked over to the window to see Malik, Marik, Bakura and Ryou standing outside the gate. He growled in annoyance, but decided to go see what they wanted anyway.
“Oi Kaiba! Is Seth home? We finally got those fifty whoopee-cushions, the spray-able plastic and the cage of rabid racoons for our cinema prank!” Malik called as Seto walked down the path in the front yard.
“Actually no. He is not home, and hasn't been home for the last 14 days.” The CEO responded coldly when he had finally reached the front gate.
“Really? I would've thought he'd cracked and gone home by now.” Bakura said thinking.
“That makes two of us.” Seto said simply.
“What if something bad happened to him?” Ryou asked anxiously.
“Who cares? Come on, let's go do the prank without him.” Marik said, turning to the car, where a cage of rabid racoons was waiting for him.
“No no! We promised to do the prank with him.” Malik said pouting.
“Oh, like you haven't broken a promise before!”
“You're so heartless Marik! Our friend has gone missing and you're on about some stupid prank.” Ryou said, glaring at the blond-haired tombkeeper.
“Oh, you're one to talk! You threw him out because he didn't use a coaster!” Marik retorted.
“I'll have you know that was an expensive table! I'm just lucky I could get it repaired! And besides, you kicked him out too!”
“Hey, can you blame me?”
Both boys were soon engaged a loud argument about whose fault it was Seth had disappeared. They didn't stop until Bakura coughed very loudly.
“Let's just go look for him okay?” he asked, and both boys nodded reluctantly.
“We'll go ask Yugi. I'm sure he must've seen him.” Ryou suggested, and everyone turned to the car.
“Hey Kaiba, are you coming or what?” Bakura called, when Seto had already started to walk back to the mansion.
“Why should I? Personally I wouldn't mind if he doesn't return.” The CEO said coldly.
“But he could be in trouble.” Ryou squeaked.
“Don't care.”
“He could be impersonating you!” Bakura said grinning, and Seto stopped dead in his tracks. The thought of Seth in one of his trademark trench-coats, telling everyone he was THE Seto Kaiba was simply too much to bear.
“Let's go.” He said, running back to the gate.
One scary car ride later, the gang arrived at the gameshop. Seto was the first to jump out of the vehicle, because he had been forced to sit next to the cage of racoons. In the shop were Yugi, Atem, Joey, Tristan and Tea. No doubt talking about something Duelmonsters related.
“Hi guys!” Ryou said cheerfully, as the others merely nodded at the gang.
“Hey, what brings you here?” Yugi asked.
“We were wondering if you've seen Seth lately. He's been gone for two weeks now.” Ryou said, and Yugi looked in deep thought.
“Well… I haven't seen him… And two weeks ago Atem and I were at the Duelmonsters convention in Mikado city. Hey, did you know we won a prize with our cosplay act? Kuriboh versus Dark magician. I was Dark magician!” he said cheerfully. Seto got a mental image of Atem in a Kuriboh costume, and grinned widely.
“Actually, I've seen him.” Joey said, and everyone turned to look at him, expecting some amazing story or anecdote. “He came to my house two weeks ago, explained the situation and asked if he could stay at my house. I said no, and I haven't seen him since.”
“Gee… that wasn't much of a story was it?” Bakura said, and the others shook their heads.
“And it wasn't helpful either.” Atem added.
“Well, I suppose we'll have to go look for him then.” Seto said, rolling his eyes.
“Oh! Let me help! I wanna look too! Because Seth is our friend! And we cannot let friends down! We'll find him with the power of friendship!” Tea squeaked, and there was a flash of lightning.
“Tea look! Friends!” Bakura called suddenly.
“Friends? Where?” Tea shouted, looking around wildly.
“Out the window.” The thief said grinning, and the next second Tea had thrown herself out said window.
“Too bad we're on the first floor.” Malik sighed.
“So as I was saying, we'll go look for him.” Seto said, taking a map of Domino city out his pocket and unfolding it on the counter. “We'll have to split up, to increase efficiency. Bakura and Ryou take West Domino, Malik and Marik take East Domino, Yugi and Atem take North Domino, and me and the mutt will take South Domino. Taylor can visit the prison and the hospital.” The CEO said, pointing it all out on the map.
“Okay!” everyone said in unison.
“Oh, but before that… Bakura, return my wallet.” Seto said, holding out his hand. Bakura pouted and pulled Seto's wallet out of his pocket.
