Ryou clawed at the hand fisted in his hair as he tried desperately to make the other let go he didn't want to be dragged, hell he could walk his legs were perfectly fine!

"Keith you son of a bitch let me go!" Ryou yelled as he was brought to the edge of the Cliffside as forced to look over the edge Keith's arms the only thing keeping him from falling to his death.

"You want me to let you go now?" He sneered as he began to bind Ryou's hands behind his back forcing him to kneel as he tied the other end of the rope to a stake that he drove into the ground. Ryou could pull it out but in his current position, he would need to use a lot of force to pull it out and when the stake finally gave way, he would go backward…and fall off the cliff.

"I take you understand trying to remove it yourself is an impossibility? You are the bonus after this battle…the prize is of course the city but you will be the perk." Keith said I will release you once we are finished.

Ryou frowned he didn't want any of Zanshi to die, but he halfway wished that they would leave this world and never come back. He wanted the two gangs to destroy each other. Ryou closed his eyes he could feel Yami's anger and his brother's strength and Marik's hatred. They were ready for battle he could even feel Joey's anxiety…Joey wasn't a part of the first battle if he was he would be scared to death. Ryou himself reached into the mind of his brother to learn about the battle…and he dreaded this night although he wished for it.

Malik saw Ryou with tears in his eyes as he walked over to him kneeling down in front of them. "I…I have to fight, but when they are preoccupied with each other I'll free you and we'll run…" Malik looked at the ocean below and the stars in the sky and smiled.

Ryou smiled slightly as well "It's just how you wanted it Malik…the ocean is below us and the stars are above, if nothing else we are where we wanted to be." Ryou said.

"I want you to promise me something." Malik said taking Ryou's bound hands in his own.

"If I fall…if I die, you will run and never look back." He said

"I can't leave you again Malik, I've already lost you once and I can't do that again!" Ryou said tears breaching his eyes once more.

"Don't cry Ryou please…I need to know that if I don't make it you will be okay." Malik said.

"But I won't be okay! I cannot be okay without you! I need you more than anything, I will not run unless you are by my side!" Ryou yelled, "You have to survive this Malik! Don't say 'just in case' I don't' want to hear it, I want you to tell me you will be okay and we will run…not I will WE will." Ryou said looking at Malik sternly

Malik smiled "We will run, and I will not fail you Ryou." Malik said as Keith beckoned him to await their battle. "I love you Ryou." Malik said as he walked off

"I love you too." Ryou whispered as he closed his eyes praying it would all be over soon.

Ryou's POV

How do you describe a fight where no matter what you will lose? What does Keith hope to gain by fighting them…its already obvious Zanshi will win. Malik is not concentrating on the fight he is concentrating on me so that when they fifteen second window opens he will come and rescue me. I can see it in Bakura's eyes as well; he wants to release me as well. How am I supposed to leave them? Zanshi is my family they practically saved me from myself, and Bakura is my brother as well as the other's…I even care for Yami. But my lover, Malik, is on the other side…truthfully he is on no one's side, but mine. I frown as Keith and Yami clash swords literally. Yami has been training for years and Keith is already out of breath he will soon die. Marik is fighting Otogi currently…damn Otogi is fast Marik is having trouble landing blows on him, that looks partially fair. I look over to where Bakura is, and cringe as I see him snap Mai's neck in one fluid motion. He never cared if the enemy or target was a girl or boy, it was his job. I swallowed and saw Joey and Malik clashing against each other.

I felt someone begin to unbind my hands and was disappointed that it was Bakura. 'That's okay!' We can still run away!' I told myself as I began to stand up and Bakura ran off to go help Marik who was currently closing in on Otogi…he couldn't run much longer. I watched Malik seethed a hidden knife into Joey's gut and twisted it insuring the wound would not close as Joey fell to the ground clutching his stomach in pain as he began to bleed profusely from the wound. Malik smiled slightly then looked up to see me he was about to run to me when Yami's sword fell in front of him barely missing him by an inch as he leapt back to avoid the blade. I looked to my left where Keith laid his chest and stomach split open by Yami's blade.

Malik kept on avoiding the deadly blade, he had no sword to stop Yami's as he continued to duck and run from him…he was becoming tired and I could see in his eyes that he was exhausted. All I saw for a moment was Yami's blade and my lovers face…the a sharp hot pain in the small of my back as I fell to my knees in front of Malik and Yami backing away from us an appalled look on his face…his sword was no longer in his hands. I heard a shrill cry as Otogi fell dead and Marik and Bakura looked at me the same look in their eyes as they looked at me. I looked into Malik's eyes and saw tears streaming down his face and I understood what had happened. I looked at my stomach where the tip of Yami's sword made its face shown…through my back his sword was embedded, it was a wonder I wasn't screaming in agony but I wasn't. I cupped my lover's cheek.

"It's all right Malik…it's better this way suppose, you know they wouldn't let me go in the first place. It's better that I leave everyone." I said. I kissed him under the stars and near the ocean, as if he wanted it was as close as we were going to get to making love together anyway. When I withdrew I saw a tricky of blood upon his lips and I knew it was my blood…I knew I was dieing he embraced me suddenly and I felt the sword push it's way further inside me until it's handle was against my back fully. I looked at Malik the sword was now embedded in his gut. He had killed himself.

"It was never me or you…it was always us…" He said with a slight choke of pain. I closed my eyes as he kissed me.

Normal POV

Yami could hardly believe his eyes…He had stabbed Ryou the one he loved more than anyone in the world, he had killed him. And to make matters worse Ryou just proved that he still loved Malik by giving his life to save his. Bakura and Marik watched as they saw their brother's embrace as Malik pushed the sword through Ryou and into himself and mutter something into his ear as they embraced and fell to their side in each other's arms…dead. Both brother's heart wrenched in pain as they saw their little brother's lives end, for the second time in their life. Bakura knew that Ryou couldn't live without Malik and Malik couldn't live without Ryou. Yet they couldn't survive in a gang, they were not to type to do so. Bakura walked up to Yami who stood frozen at the sight as Marik placed a hand on their leaders shoulder.

"Yami? Let's go back, we finished what we needed to do…there is nothing we can do for Ryou…let him rest now?" Marik said

Yami nodded his head dumbly as he followed Marik off.

Bakura took one last glance at his brother's still body holding on to Malik who was returning the embrace. Neither of them could escape without a price it was too bad that it was the ultimate price they had to pay.

Sorry for killing Malik and Ryou! Nevertheless, the summary said they couldn't get out without paying the ultimate price so I thought it might have been a little bit obvious! I hope you liked Zanshi! (Please do not say that I only killed them to put an end to the story I did not! That was my intent from the very beginning!)
