CHAPTER LXXXVII
THE FUTURE INVADES THE PAST
Having witnessed the crash from the ground, the crowd cringed, however, Kakarrot reacted, jumped into Super Saiyan level 4 and flew to catch his mate. Behind the prince consort was a new ascended Saiyan.
“You rescue Areus and I’ll catch the Equeon prince,” a gruff voice spoke.
“RADITZ?!”
“Concentrate, fool, or they’ll both be injured!” Raditz hissed then winked out to grab hold of the creature that had slammed into Vegeta.
Appearing under the massive beast, Raditz held it from underside to enable Kakarrot to take their wounded, winded and unconscious brother to safety. Once the pair, along with their charges, were on terra firma again, Kakarrot fished around for a senzu bean.
“How do we treat that creature?” Kakarrot asked as he placed a bean into his mate’s mouth and worked the prince’s jaw to crush the pit.
“Let us try, lord, we are the tournament healers,” the sweet voice of Hiei’s sister, Yukina, sounded and she knelt beside the beast along with several other skilled healers.
“He’s never been injured this badly and whenever he has been, Sire’s always cared for him,” Iason, a tall blond god spoke as he held a distraught brunette to his side.
“Fix him, please. Sire gave him to us as a gift and we promised that no ill would befall the fair creature,” Riki, Iason’s brunette partner and love lamented.
“We’ll do all that we can. Kakarrot, gather some of that fur your people brought down with them along with the webbing of those huge spiders,” Botan suggested as she had stayed in Living World while Koenma had gone to take care of business.
“I wonder what could have caused this creature to crash into my prince like that,” Kakarrot mused out loud.
At that moment a moan was heard from beneath the larger Saiyan who looked down to find his mate returning to consciousness, however, as the prince returned, his mouth opened and out came a language only a handful of the beings gathered had any knowledge of.
“Vegeta? Vegeta, wake up, my love, you’re babbling,” Kakarrot fretted.
“No, he’s not babbling, child, it’s the Equeon tongue. He’s trying to soothe this beast,” Bardock explained.
“He learned the tongue well but that’s to be expected for as much time as he spent caring for the pair he owned on the old home planet. I am surprised that as his mate, Kakarrot, that you have not acquired the tongue,” King Vegeta noted.
“We have not completed our melding stage, as you are aware,” Bardock’s first female born son remarked.
“Hey, did you say that Vegeta used to care for such creatures?” Krillin gasped in shocked surprise.
“Don’t sound so surprised, short shit, Saiya-jin do have their moments,” Vegeta’s voice sounded.
“VEGETA! Love, welcome back!” Kakarrot jumped on his mate and hugged him fiercely.
“Good to be back. Nice catch, by the way. You as well, Raditz. How’s Equeya doing?” Vegeta crawled over to the recovering horse-like creature, stretched forth his hands and a bluish white light emitted from his palm. “There, there, ’Queya, my son, what happened?” he spoke in softened tones.
‘I was sauntering the market area and stumbled upon a selling booth. Oh, Sire, the horror of that place! Many of my brothers and sisters were on display in very poor condition. Beaten, starved, mutilated until their skin was falling off. I tried not to draw attention to me, but I must have gasped or emitted some sort of noise. The ones in the cages and on the auction block began to whinny and paw at the ground in agitation. One of the sellers saw me and came after me. I transformed to fly but he shot something at me. As I was flying, I could feel my wings begin to give out and I lost flight. Many apologies for crashing you, Sire,’ Equeya spoke in mental voice.
“It’s okay, ’Queya, son. How are you feeling, now?” Vegeta asked as he moved to stand with the aid of his mate.
‘Very much better, thank you for asking. Whatever covered me helped a great bit,’ was the reply and at that moment the Equeon began to shape-shift.
Those watching gasped in disbelief. “H-he’s changing into a man! How’s that possible?” Krillin eeked out and received a punch in the head. “HEY! 18, what was that for, hun?”
“For being Captain Obvious, as always! We can all see that he’s changing. Like Vegeta and that nice red headed boy, this creature is a transmute. Am I right, Vegeta?” 18 asked and received a curt nod. “Can you speak our tongue?”
“Not without a translator. Iason, Riki, do either of you have a spare about? That blast seemed to have shorted his,” Vegeta remarked.
“Here you go, Sire,” Iason, the tall Norse-god like male nodded as he handed Vegeta a collar like device.
“Please, after all I gave him to the pair of you to care for,” Vegeta smirked and Iason moved to affix the translator.
“Thank you, Iason-sama, Vegeta-sama. Greetings to you all but may I beg that we go to rescue my clan and my race from those butchers? I shudder to think what those slavers would do to us should they acquire such rarities,” Equeya hung his head.
“Kakarrot, I want you, Broli, Turles and our female born sons to take on that mission. I want to smell…No, better yet, take fifteen bags of Hiroseki stones, two bags of Slougarthan gems, a skein of Araknian webbing and five piles of Slougarthan wool. Trade for the Equeon, they are the greatest allies the Saiya-jin race has ever had. Once you’ve freed the creatures, take them to the grazing area on Little Vegeta,” Vegeta instructed and his mate nodded.
Kissing his mate farewell, Kakarrot moved to fulfill his love’s request and gathered the rescue party then went to collect the treasure. Vegeta, meanwhile, assisted Equeya to his feet, double checked him for injury then sent him off with his care givers, Iason and Riki. The crowd that had been gathered in the arena common are began to disperse when a shatter of light burst forth.
“VEGETA!” a frantic voice called out.
Vegeta turned along with the king, Bardock and several others that had not left the area as yet. Standing before the gathered crowd were Kaioshin, Kobito and the Elder Kai, both with shocked and terrified expressions on their faces.
“Kai-sama, ‘Shin, Kobito, why the terrified visages?” the prince asked, eyebrows arched in question
“Kai-sama just looked into Earth’s future and it’s very bleak, at least in three years it will be,” the younger Kai hung his head.
“Please, not another android attack? We all nearly died from the last one!” Mirai Trunks fretted as he stood with his mate and mate’s children.
“That would be mild compared to what’s about to strike. A deadly virus that’s ten times worse than anything this planet has ever seen. It will be some sort of mutation of several existing plagues, viruses and flues and will be very deadly. It will be a pandemic and as far reaching as space and the colonies,” the Elder Kai explained.
“That’s impossible! Most of the planet’s deadliest plagues have been eradicated due to light year advances in new discoveries and available vaccines. Even those of high risk countries and colonies are able to receive treatment,” Vegeta expounded.
“I didn’t say it was an Earth-born, did I?” the senior Kai gruffed.
“Space?” Jean Gray, super psychic of the X-Men, asked as she stood among the crowd with her fellow X-men.
“Possible, we just saw the populous dying from festering sores, breathing afflictions and such. If there was a way-”
“Say no more, sir. Maigeta, come, son,” the prince called to Mirai Trunks.
“And who might I ask is Maigeta?” Kaioshin inquired.
“My son from twenty-four years in Earth’s future. Maybe he knows something about what you are telling us,” Vegeta nodded as the future version of his son, Trageta, stood beside him.
“You wished to see me, sire?” the young prince asked.
“Kai-sama has seen a viral attack that will hit the Earth in three years,” Vegeta began.
“So I heard and myself, along with a handful of scientist and researchers lived through that deadly affliction. In fact, it was that very disease that took away the woman who bore me into existence. It began as a minor virus brought back from a new space colony that was being constructed and the first symptom was a small pimple. The first victims were the workers on the colony who required emergency evac to several hospitals for treatment. When the workers arrived, their flesh had been eaten away, they were suffering from breathing difficulties and dying almost as soon as they had been evacked. The disease soon began to spread outside the health facilities because no one knew how to fight it. When one of Capsule Corp’s employees became infected with it, we used that person’s blood to create a vaccination. It proved to be a poor choice as the person later died. That disease killed whoever the androids did not, however, there were a few survivors and Bulma turned out to be one of them along with a handful of scientist, myself and a few others. Those that had survived the sickness had built up antibodies in their blood, so they donated to the creation of the vaccine. Sadly, just as we completed the serum, Bulma passed on. Her age was against her to begin with along with the fact that the sire of her son had been a Saiyan,” Maigeta explained.
“Are you saying I caused her body to breakdown?” Vegeta shot defensively.
“No, sire, I believe because you mated with her helped her to live through the sickness and gave strength to my own immune system. I was trying to thank you. Anyway, the surviving scientists and myself completed the serum. We saved all the data and froze a few cells from those that had been infected but had survived. One of the Gundam Pilots, Duo, contributed quite a bit as he had survived a similar plague on his home colony of L1. He had very strong resistance as did his four friends. Shall we get started so that we can be sure to have enough on hand for when the disease strikes?” Maigeta asked.
“What’s keeping you. Oh, and Maigeta, you might consider returning to bring back that which you left in the future. I’m sure they’re wondering if their dad cares for them,” Vegeta smirked.
Maigeta’s jaw dropped to the ground in shock. “Y-H-I didn’t tell you about that? How did you find out?” the young man gasped.
“We’re mind linked, remember? I’m sure Kakarrot would love to meet them and…” at the last thought, Vegeta flushed still having difficulties in admitting his softer more caring side.
“They’re beautiful children just wait and see! I’ll be back before breakfast tomorrow,” Maigeta said when suddenly the sound of an engine cut through the near silence.
“Guess you won’t need to make that trip after all, Maigeta, looks like they came to you,” the prince smirked.
“DADDY!!!!” several excited voices shouted then Maigeta was forced to the ground by six persons around the same age as Trageta and Goten.
“Hey, Trunks, we’re sorry, man. We tried to keep them in our time zone but they refused to stay put and said that you were in need of their assistance,” a deep voice spoke.
“It’s quite alright, Duo, I was going to come get them and retrieve the research data we had compiled on that disease,” Maigeta told a much older version of the Gundam Deathsythe pilot, Duo Maxwell.
Vegeta stood in silent surprise. How had these young men, along with the six youngsters with them, survived the horrors of Maigeta’s future time line? According to the aforementioned, most of the world population had perished if not from the androids then from the disease the Elder Kai had just informed them of. He would have to find out and, clearing his throat loudly, mentioned, “I’m sure our new guess are tired and hungry. Why don’t we all return to the hotel, find rooms and dine?”
“Sounds good, Outusan. Duo, can you guys help me?” Maigeta asked.
“Hey, hey, buddy, you’re the one who can fly, we’re lucky to even be able to walk straight,” Duo remarked.
“Gather ‘round me, grab hold of one another and myself and I’ll take us back,” the prince said and the group did as informed.
Touching a finger to his forehead, Vegeta concentrated on the hotel and the group disappeared in an eye blink. “Welcome to Hanging Neck Hotel. I’ll check to see what rooms are available as we just sent away a vast number of attendees,” Vegeta said as he led the group to the main desk.
“Vegeta-san, how may I be of service?” the desk clerk asked as he eyed the new arrivals. “Hey, I know you? Don’t you already have rooms in the hotel?” the young man asked as he spied the Gundam pilots.
“You don’t need to know. We need four key cards,” the prince nodded and the clerk did as told. “Maigeta, take your offspring to join the others. Duo, Heero, Wufei, Sally, Quatre, Trowa, I need to speak with you all as I take you to your rooms,” the prince nodded and the group separated.
“How do you know us?” Mirai Sally Po asked as she stood close to Wufei.
“I know the ‘yous’ that exist in this time zone. Welcome to your pasts. As with present and Mirai Trunks’ existing in the same time line, you’ll be existing with yourselves. We can present you as older siblings much as we are Trunks to save confusion. However, on this island, everyone knows about time travel, alternate realities and such, so nothing is out of the ordinary here. I also need to inform you that the situations here are not what you left,” Vegeta explained.
