Chapter 7:Destiny

The door creaked open, and somebody fell through. Keiyosei ran over and turned the person over. He gasped at the bloody face and lifted her up.

"Shuillin?!"Keiyosei's eyes widened.

"Wha-what happened to her?!"Yusuke asked.

"Her punishment..."Koenma came.

"What do you mean?"Kuwabara stared at all the blood on the floor.

"She was beaten by spirit world's best guards."Koenma explained.

"She doesn't deserve this!"Kurama yelled.

"She accepted her punishment, Kurama. Please try to understand."

"What do you mean by 'she accepted her punishment?!'"Hiei growled.

Keiyosei wiped the blood off Shuillin's face and stared. "It can't be..." The others stopped arguing and ran over to Keiyosei and Shuillin. "She's..."

"She's smiling..."Hiei said. Shuillin's eyes opened half way.

"And she's alive!"Kuwabara gasped.

There was a knock on the entrance. A boy came in. He had dark brown hair and dark green eyes. His face was dirty and his clothes were worn. Shuillin, surprisingly, got up and looked at the boy. Her eyes shined and she ran to him. Shuillin forgot all the pain. She actually looked...happy...

"Malkior! I can't believe it!!!"Shuillin hugged Malkior and cried into his chest.

"I can't believe I've found you! I've been searching for so long... I was actually willing to give into Koenma..."Tears fell from Malkior's eyes as he embraced Shuillin for the first time in eight years.

Malkior felt something on Shuillin's arm and held her at arm length. He studied at how mature she's gotten and then at her wounds.

"What happened to you? You're bleeding..."Malkior held her close to him again. Shuillin began to cry again, but he could sense that her tears now had a different emotion in them. Malkior figured it out...

"YOU BASTARD BINKY BREATH KOENMA!!!"Malkior yelled."MY SISTER DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO DESERVE THIS!"

"If the family does the crime, they ALL pay."Koenma said.

"What's going on, Malkior?"Shuillin stared up at her big brother.

"You were too young to learn about our family's past, Shuillin... You were too young to learn about...YOUR destiny..."Malkior looked at his sister.

"My...destiny?"Shuillin's eyes showed him that she wanted to know more.

"It started when you weren't born yet..."Malkior sighed.

~13 years ago[a year before Shuillin was born]~

October 15,1992[Malkior's birthday]

"It's a boy..."A woman looked down on her new born baby.

"Hello, young one."Little Malkior wiggled in his father's arms.

"Hes quite lively for a newborn, Rorek,"the woman said.

"Yes, I believe he will be a perfect son, Yuna."Rorek cradled Malkior in his arms.

"But he will not be the one to carry the family's burden, am I correct?"Yuna said.

"Our family has been cursed for generations with this horrible faith. We must protect the worlds."Rorek said.

"The new keeper of the gate shall be the next born woman in this family, yes?"

"Yes, but if she does not handle her possision carefully, it could mean the end of this world, and possibly the rest."

~Three years later~

~February 28, 1995~

A baby girl was born in the Hainasaka family two years before that day. Rorek and Yuna settled her down in the crib and turned to eachother. They knew the destiny of the baby in the crib. Three year old Malkior walked into the room. Rorek scooped him into his arms and tickled him. Malkior laughed and hugged his father. Rorek sat down on the bed and placed Malkior in his lap.

"Do you understand what I am saying, Malkior?"Malkior nodded.

"Papa... Are you sad?"Malkior tilted his head to the side.

"Listen to me. You must take care of Shuillin, okay?"Rorek said.

"But why Papa?"Malkior was very confuzed.

"Because she will be followed by many bad people."Rorek explained.

"What do they want with Shuillin?"Malkior asked.

"You see..."Rorek looked at Yuna and she nodded.

"A long time ago, all three worlds were linked. Do you remember what they are called?"

"Reikai(spirit world), Makai(deamon world), and Ningenki(human world). But Papa, you said they are separated."Malkior said.

"That was before our family protects the gate that separates them all. You see, only certain members are allowed to protect the gate. Every three generations, the family picks a new member. This generation's choice is the first born girl. Which is-as you know-Shuillin."Rorek sighed."Many deamons will want to destroy her, so the gate will not be protected and they could take over the worlds."Malkior's eyes widened."Do you understand?"Malkior nodded and walked to the crib.

"Don't worry, little sister. I'm going to take good care of you."Malkior smiled.

~End Flashback~

"So you are supposed to take care of the gate."Malkior explained.

"But why are they trying to kill me?"Shuillin's eyes pleaded for answers."And why did you leave us?"

"The keeper of the gate before you, let loose one of the most dangerous deamons known in Spirit World, so they fear you will do the same."Malkior said.

"But why did you leave? So you have any idea what I've been through?!"Shuillin started to cry again.

"I...I can't tell you..."Malkiors bangs covered his eyes with shadows. Shuillin escaped from his grasp and stood up."Shuillin, please try to understand..."

"HOW CAN I UNDERSTAND IF YOU WONT EVEN TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON?! DONT YOU TRUST ME?!"Shuillin yelled.

"I do, but..."

"FORGET IT!"Shuillin ran out of Spirit World and back to the Human World with the energy she had left. She lay down in a cave and cried.

Shuillin remembered everything. The pain she felt when her brother left her was so unbearable. She loved him and he just left. She was four years old and he just left her. She wanted to find him so badly, but what was a four year old to do? On top of that, he knew their mother had a disease. Shuillin had to see her mother struggle everyday. Shuillin sealed her eyes in the memory of her mother's death. She was on her own after that day.
She had wandered into the forest after the funeral. A snake was trying to attack her. She found a tree branch and lifted it. After many blows, the snake was dead. Shuillin was so frightened. She hid inside a hallow tree, but couldn't sleep. She stayed awake and in the morning, she went to find another shelter. She found a stick and took out her father's army knife. The stick was as long as she was tall, but light. Shuillin shrpened the tip as her father had done with a pencil. She carefully touched the top and yelped when the stick had pricked her. Shuillin carried the stick around and found a few fruits to eat. A snake had attacked her again and she stabbed the pointed end of the stick through it. As she grew month after month, her strength had increased and she was able to make more weapons. A tiger had cornered her one day and she screamed for her brother. Shuillin knelt down, but the tiger did not want to attack her. It was whimpering instead. Shuillin carefully examined the animal and found the problem. It must have run into one of her broken weapons because there was a stick stuck in its leg. She slowly approached the animal and grabbed the stick. The tiger growled, but didnt sem to have enough energy to attack. Shuillin yanked the stick out and dragged the large animal back to her "camp." Her mother taught her how t make medicine, and she had not forgotten. Shuillin gathered herbs and made a pain killing mixture. She rubbed it on the tiger's wound and sought out for something the tiger would want to eat. She found snakes and a few rodents. Shuillin offered them for the tiger to eat as she bandaged the cut with clothes she had outgrown. The tiger became her first friend, but the tiger had left her when she met Keiyosei.

"Keiyosei..."Shuillin clutched her shirt.

Keiyosei had acted as her friend. He played her like a puppet and she didnt want to go through it again with Hiei. She trusted Keiyosei, but he was never her friend. She wanted to forget him. She wanted to forget everyone. If only that was possible for her. As she thought of Malkior, he heart ache grew worse. Footsteps headed in her direction, so she got up, willing to fight. Her eyes softened to see Hiei. She dropped her stance and stared at him.

"You'll have to face him some day,"Hiei said.

"Feh...I dont plan to."Shuillin turned her head to the wall.

"I don't know why I'm talking to you more than I talk to Kurama."Hiei sat down.

"I think Yukina will accept you."Hiei's head jolted up."I know things."Shuillin shrugged.

"Why dont you go back to Malkior?"

"I...I don't want to get hurt again!"Shuillin broke down and cried in Hiei's arms.

"He doesn't want to hurt you...Neither do I..."Hiei lifted Shuillin's head to face him....
