Hiei is a fire demon with a cold demanour. He was born into an ice demon clan as a child, and because they discovered that he was a fire demon, they gave him the boot. Hiei spent much of his time being a youkai delinquent and looking for his lost sister, Yukina the pretty blue-haired, demure, ice demon .Hiei and Kurama are old friends and both came to the human world after stealing objects from the Spirit World. Kurama stole the mirror of utter dark and Hiei, a sword, "The Ghost Slayer", with a poesies blade that could turn any human into a demonic minion. Hiei had a Jagan (demon eye) implanted on his forehead so this is why he often wears a headband. He is also an expert swordsman. He now works along side of Kurama and once in a while, Mel. His sister Yukina is a close friend of Mel but was made to promise not to say anything about Mel until Ko-Enma thinks necessary.


In the spirit world there is a special forest called the forest of dreams. It is called this because here people have only good dreams. When your dreaming it strengthens your spirit. Near this forest is a door surrounded by purple roses. This door leads to Mel’s garden. Through this door she travels to and from the spirit world. Today she sitting next to a beautiful unicorn fountain waiting for Kurama. Her and Kurama were going to visit Yuusuke and the others. Today the gang were going to a boring day with Ko-Enma. Ko-Enma is Lord of the spirit world. He was going to tell them the new areas they have to patrol. Mel heard a small and quiet nose come from the path by the rose bushes.

“Hello Kurama,” Mel said looking to where Kurama had appeared.

“Hello Mel,” Kurama said.

“Ready for a boring day listening to the toddler,” she said. Kurama laughed.

“Yuusuke would probably agree,” he said. She smiled and looked back towards the rose bushes.

“Is something wrong?” Kurama asked. She looked back at him and had a sort of sad smile.

“It’s nothing,” she said. She stood up and turned to him. “Come on we can’t make the toddler wait.” Kurama looked at her for a few minutes. He knew there was something she wasn’t saying. He wanted to tell her what he was feeling but no words came out, so he held out a hand.

“Alright, let’s go, Hiei and the others should already be there,” he said.

“Alright, they‘re probably mad,” she said as she took his hand and they disappeared into the spirit world.

Meanwhile in spirit world Ko-Enma is getting impatient and starting to throw a tantrum.

“Mister Ko-Enma please be patient,” Botan said trying to calm the (small) lord of the spirit world. “I’m sure they’ll be here any moment.”

“It’s not like Kurama to be late,” Yuusuke said. “Who else is supposed to be coming.”

Before Botan could answer a loud noise sounded outside the door.

“That should be them,” Jorge the oni said.

The door open and stepping through the door was Kurama. Next to him came a beautiful teenage girl with purple hair similar to Kurama’s and bluish purple eyes. All but Hiei, Ko-Enma and Jorge stared. Kuwabara suddenly went crazy.

“So who’s this pretty girl,” Kuwabara said. The others just rolled their eyes. Mel walked from Kurama’s side over to Lord Ko-Enma.

“Ko-Enma,” she said bowing.

“It’s about time,” Ko-Enma said. Ko-Enma turned to the others.

“Yuusuke, Kuwabara, and Botan meet Mel Sun Star or known in this world as Shadow Fox,” he said.

“It’s a honor to meet you,” Mel said turning to them.

“The honor is all ours,” Kuwabara said as he grabbed her hand. Mel just pulled her hand away and glared at him.

“Wait a minute!” Botan said. “Hiei and Kurama seem to already know her, if she worked as a spirit detective how come I never knew about her?” Mel just giggled and turned to Botan.

“Hiei and Kurama sort of found out by accident about me,” she said.

“Huh?” Botan said looking at her. Mel sighed and lifted into the air, then into sitting position.

“It’s a long story,” she said. “It happened about a year ago just a month after you first met them. I had been sent on a mission to discover why there were disappearances in the real world. When I got to the spot where they had happened, I ran into the demon Sain. He possessed the power of fire. While battling him Kurama was the first to show up. I had been losing badly. After him Hiei showed up. It seemed they had sensed my spirit energy, which with losing badly, I wasn’t able to keep hidden. They helped me defeat Sain but they had found out about me in process, so they were told not to tell anybody about me yet. I was then teamed up with them to do certain missions with, that is when they aren’t helping you.”

“But still why couldn’t we know about her,” Botan said.

“Botan it’s because many demons do not know about her and she is our secret weapon for times when you need help,” Ko-Enma said.

“To help us?” Yuusuke said.

“Yes, from now on Hiei, Kurama, I want you to work with her,” Ko-Enma said. “There have been some very strange signals coming from the forest of Black Fire, I want you to check it out.”

“What about us?” Yuusuke asked.

“For once you get to sit back and watch others work,” Jorge said.

“Oh yeah,” Yuusuke said sitting onto a chair.

“Lucky you,” Mel said sarcastically. She turned and disappeared with Kurama and Hiei.

“Huh?” Yuusuke said.

“Mel’s not one to like it when people sit back and watch others do hard work,” Jorge said.

“She probably does it all the time,” Yuusuke said. “What’s so great about her, I mean what’s her story.”

“If we tell you about her past you cannot say anything to anyone,” Jorge said.

“We won’t,” Botan said, she was curious as a cat to find out about Mel.

“Mel is a fox demon like Kurama,” Ko-Enma started.

“She’s a demon to?” Kuwabara said.

“Yes, Along time ago she had been injured by a Demon Hunter.” Ko-Enma said. “She died near a lake here in the spirit world, her spirit survived so she was reborn in the real world like Kurama. She is now one of our top spirit detectives, She can transform in the light of the full moon into her Fox Demon form. She only works with Hiei and Kurama because they are part of the few who can match her power.”

“What are her powers?” Yuusuke asked.

“She uses a Rose Whip like Kurama and can do the same attacks as him,” Ko-Enma said. “She can also use almost the same as Hiei, they are also the only ones we know that can match her speed.”  

“Damn, she must be fast if Hiei and Kurama are the only ones who can match her speed,” Yuusuke said.

“She is very fast,” Jorge.

“And very beautiful,” Kuwabara said.

“Don’t let her beauty fool you, she is also deadly and that’s why she is one of our top spirit detectives,” Ko-Enma said. They all went quiet as the video screen went on to show Mel, Kurama and Hiei arriving in the Forest of Black Fire.

Mel looked around until she saw a path which looked like it had been used recently.

“That path looks like it’s been used recently, let’s check it out,” she said. They started to follow the path when Mel sensed something coming at them. She looked up just in time to see a ball of light coming at them. “Watch out!”

Hiei and Kurama looked up and saw the ball of light coming. They jumped out of the way just as it hit where they had just been standing. More balls of light were coming at them.

“Damn it, Black Fire Balls,” Mel said, just getting miss by one coming at her head. Suddenly one slammed into her back and she was sent through the trees.

“Mel,” Kurama yelled. He pulled out a Red Rose and turned it into a Rose Whip. Hiei pulled out a sword.

Mel sat up rubbing her head, “Damn that’s it.” She pulled a Purple Rose from her hair and turned it into a Rose Whip. “Fuuka Enbu Jin.” Thousands of purple rose petals hit the Fire balls that were coming at them.  

“Fuuka Enbu Jin,” Kurama shouted as thousands of red petals hit the Fire balls.

“Jaou Ensatsu Ken,” Hiei shouted as Black Fire shot from his sword and hit more of the Fire balls.

“Come on,” Mel shouted as she raced to the path and more Fire balls appeared. “Fuuka Enbu Jin.” The balls disappeared. She ran along the path.

“Mel!” Kurama shouted. He destroyed more Fire balls as they appeared in front of him.

“Come on,” Hiei said destroying more Fire balls and following Mel. They followed her until they reached a clearing near a cave. There was no other paths.

“Now what?” Kurama asked.

“Were in a dead end,” Hiei said.

“Now we leave it to me,” Mel said. She held her hands out in front of her. Her eyes began to glow and a small ball of purple light appeared in her hands. “Spirit of the Dream Fox Blast.” A huge beam looking like a purple fox shot out and destroyed all the Fire balls at once.

Meanwhile Yuusuke and the others were watching.

“Whoa,” Kuwabara said.

“That was a strong attack,” Botan said.

“Yes, now you see why we kept her secret,” Ko-Enma said.

“Oh yeah,” Yuusuke said. “Damn that blast was powerful, it was even stronger then the spirit gun.”

“Of coarse, we would’ve sent you if we thought she couldn’t do better.,” Ko-Enma said.

“Damn it,” Yuusuke yelled. “What the hell is that supposed to mean.”

“Yuusuke calm down,” Botan said.

“Sir, there heading into the cave,” Jorge said.

“Huh,” Ko-Enma said. “Why would they do that?”

“Maybe they sensed something from the cave,” Kuwabara said.

“Well duh, Hiei wouldn’t go look in a there unless he sensed there might be somebody or something worth fighting,” Yuusuke said.

“Well let’s all quiet down and watch them,” Jorge said.

“You asking for punishment org,” Ko-Enma said.

“No sir, maybe if everyone quieted down we could watch them,” Jorge said.

“Precisely,” Ko-Enma said.

Meanwhile Mel, Kurama and Hiei are heading into the cave.

“See anything,” Mel asked the other two.

“No,” came their reply.

She sighed and a small ball of purple fire appeared in her hand. She held it out to see better. They kept walking until they reached seven tunnels.

“Which one should we choose,” Kurama asked.

“Your asking me,” Hiei said.

“Knock it off we can use a direction spell,” Mel said. She concentrated on the fire in her hand. The fire began to low brightly then a small beam shot out and pointed to the middle tunnel. “Looks like the middle one.” She raced towards it.
 
“Mel, wait,” Kurama said.

“We better follow her,” Hiei said. The two boys took off after her.

They soon reached the end of the tunnel. They were now in a bigger cave from the way it looked. On either side of the cave were thousands of Black Fire Torches. In the middle was a black hole.

“A Black Hole!” Mel cried. Suddenly the cave began to shake. Mel was knocked backwards.

“Hold on,” Kurama said grabbing her arm to keep her from falling down.

“We have to leave,” Hiei said. They turn to run  back out of the tunnel but the entrance was gone.

“THE ENTRANCE!” Kurama cried.

“IT’GONE,” Mel yelled. Hiei just looked for some kind of exit they could use then noticed the Black Hole was growing.

“It’s growing,” he cried as the hole was getting closer.

Mel now had fear in her eyes. Kurama did as well. Hiei didn’t but Kurama knew he was hiding it. Suddenly they were engulfed by the Black Hole. All they saw was everything going dark.

Ko-Enma and the others were watching the three get engulfed.

“What the hell just happened?” Yuusuke yelled.

“There gone!” Kuwabara cried.

“Ahhh, Somebody explain what just happened,” Jorge cried.

“They…they…disappeared…” Botan stuttered.

“I want people to the cave NOW!” Ko-Enma shouted. “Find out what just happen!”

“Yes sir,” Jorge said as he ran out of the room.

“This is bad,” Ko-Enma said. “If other demons find out those three are gone we’ll have demons all over the place.”

“I hope they’re alright,” Botan said as the video screen went blank.

“Uhhh…” Mel groaned as she opened her eyes. Her head was pounding and her vision was still blurry.

She looked around and saw Kurama and Hiei both knocked out as well. She look up and saw the black swirling circle in the sky. It disappeared in seconds. She started to stand up but collapsed and fell back into unconsciousness.

An hour later a girl with brown hair, a boy with orange and another boy with gray were walking along the path that lead to their home.

“Oh! look over,” the girl said. The girl ran over to where Mel, Kurama and Hiei laid.

“I wonder what the hell happened to them,” the boy with orange hair said.

“I hope they’re alright,” the girl said. “Oh look they’re waking up.”

Hiei and Kurama were starting to wake up. Hiei stood up while Kurama looked around. He saw Mel lying near the tree that was next to a small house. Mel started to wake up. She sat up and saw the girl with brown hair, the boy with orange hair and the boy with gray hair.

“Are you alright?” the girl asked.

“Yes, thank you,” Kurama said. “Uh…, where are we.”

“Oh this is our house,” the girl said. “I’m Toru Honda.”

“Yuki Sohma,” The boy with gray hair said. The boy with orange hair didn’t say anything.

“That’s Kyo Sohma,” Toru said.

“I’m Mel Sun Star,” Mel said.

“I’m Kurama,” Kurama said. “This is Hiei.”

“Hmph,” Hiei said. Mel rolled her eyes.

“Uhm…why don’t you come in and you can tell us where your from,” Toru said.

“Alright,” Mel said. They followed her into the house.

A man with blackish gray hair poked his head around the corner.

“Ahh…guest,” he said.

“Yeah this is Mel Sun Star, Kurama and Hiei,” Toru said.

“Ah…welcome…welcome,” Shigure said.

“So why don’t you tell us where your from,” Toru said.

“Alright,” Mel said. She told them about her, Kurama and Hiei’s world. She tells them all about spirit detectives, their friends, Ko-Enma, their mission and the Black Hole. “I think the Black Hole caused a disturbance in time and transported us here.”

“You must’ve had quite an adventure,” Shigure said.

“Yeah, I’m still dizzy from it,” Mel said.

“You probably need a place to stay until you can find a way home so why don’t you stay here,” he said.

“Thank you,” Mel said bowing her head. “If it isn’t any trouble.”

“It’s no trouble at all,” he said.

“Mel, why don’t you sleep in my room and Kurama do mind sleeping in Yuki’s room?” Toru asked.

“No, not at all,” Kurama said.

“Let’s see Hiei how about…” Toru started.

“Don’t bother I’ll sleep outside,” Hiei said.

“Are you sure,” she said.

“Miss. Toru don’t worry about Hiei,” Kurama said. “He’ll be alright.”

“If you say so,” she said.

“I’m going to have a look around,” Hiei said disappearing.

“Damn it, where the hell did he go,” Kyo said.

“Hiei’s always disappearing,” Mel said.

“Are you hungry?” Toru asked.

“I’ll be back in a little while,” Shigure said as he went to open the door when…

“Hello,” a  boy said.

“Oh, Momiji hello,” Shigure said. Another boy taller with white and black hair appeared. “And Haru.”

“Hello Toru,” Momiji said running into the room and right into Mel.

“Oh no,” Shigure said.

“This is bad,” Yuki said.

“Damn brat,” Kyo said.

*POP*

Mel fell back wards as a loud pop sounded. Mel opened her eyes to see a rabbit an her knee.

“Ahhh,” Mel cried as she realized it was Momiji. “What just happened.” She picked the rabbit up and sat down.

“Now you’ve done it, you damn brat,” Kyo said.

“Mel are you alright,” Kurama asked.

“Yeah, just shocked,” she said.

“What just happen?” Kurama asked. Shigure sat down and told them the story of the Zodiac Curse. He told her about the transformations that happen whenever they are hugged by the opposite sex or are under a lot of stress.

“So you’re the dog, Haru is the cow, Yuki is the rat, Momiji is the rabbit and judging by Kyo’s hair, he is the cat?” Mel said.

“That’s correct, the only thing is when we change back…” Shigure started.

*POP*

“Ahhh,” Mel and Toru both turned around as Momiji changed back, nude.

“Were naked,” Shigure finished.

Momiji hurried up and got dress as Mel and Toru turned back around. Just then Hiei appeared out of nowhere again.

“Anything?” Kurama asked.

“Nothing,” Hiei said.

“Ohhhh,” Mel said falling backwards as her head hit the wall. “This is ridicules Ko-Enma is going to be so mad.”

“What for?” Hiei asked.

“Us getting ourselves sucked up by a Black Hole,” she answered. “Yuusuke is probably laughing his damn head off.”

“Probably,” Kurama said.

“What Black Hole?” Momiji asked.

Mel sighed and told the whole story over again.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Momiji said.

“Yes,” Haru said.

“I’m Momiji Sohma,” Momiji said. “This is Hatsuharu Sohma.”

“You must have a huge family,” Mel said.

“Yeah,” Momiji said.

“My name is Mel Sun Star,” Mel said.

“I’m Kurama,” Kurama said. “This is Hiei.”

“It’s nice to meet you all,” Momiji said.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Mel said.

“Oh, I almost forgot about dinner,” Toru said.

“Yes, I’ve got to go talk to Akito,” Shigure said.

“Akito?” Mel said.

“Yes, he is the head of the family,” he said. “Anything unusual that happens he must be told about. Plus we just let out the `Big Sohma Family Secret`.”

“Oh,” Mel said.

“I’m going out again,” Hiei said and he disappeared again.

“Damn it,” Kyo said. “Where the hell did he go now?”

“Who knows,” Mel answered.

“I hope your hungry,” Toru said bringing in some food.

“Thank you,” Kurama said bowing his head.

“Thanks,” Mel said.   

“Isn’t Hiei going to eat?” Toru asked.

“I’m sure he’ll eat when he gets hungry,” Kurama said. “Don’t worry about him.”

“Oh, If you say so,” she said.

They ate and Mel looked at her watch. She noticed that it was 6:00.

“I hope Ko-Enma’s not throwing a tantrum because they can’t find us,” she said.

“I’m sure everyone is doing alright,” Kurama said.

Meanwhile back in their world…, Ko-Enma is throwing a tantrum.

“Where are they?” Ko-Enma practical shouted at Jorge.

“Sir we’ve got nearly everyone looking for them,” Jorge said. “We can find no trace of them.”

“WELL HAVE EVERYONE SEARCH HARDER!” Ko-Enma shouted at him.

“Yes sir,” Jorge said frantically running out of the room.

“Damn it, where the hell could they be,” Yuusuke said.

“I don’t know,” Botan said. “Let’s hope where ever they are, they’re alright.”

An hour later Shigure got back.

“Well, I talked to Akito and he has agreed to let you stay as long as you help Mrs. Toru out,” he said.

“Alright,” Mel said.

“How old are you guys?” he asked.

“Originally were about 1000 but physically I’m sixteen, Kurama eighteen, and Hiei eighteen,” Mel answered.

“You’ll be in Toru, Yuki, and Kyo’s class then,” Shigure said.

“Class?” Mel said looking at him.

“Yes, you have to go to school,” he said. “Your two friends don’t but kids your age do.”

“Kid!” Mel said angrily. “I’m no kid.”

“Your sixteen you’re a kid like us,” Kyo said.

“I’m no kid,” Mel growled. “I’m over 1000.”  Hiei appeared out of nowhere.

“You are a kid,” Kyo said.

“Stop calling me that,” Mel growled launching at him. Kyo quickly went to a fighting stance.

“You want to fight then fine,” Kyo said.

He sent a punch which connected with her chest and sent her backwards and into the door to the outside.

“Mel?” Kurama called.

“Everyone wants to smash my house,” Shigure whined.

“That’s it,” Mel yelled. “Give me your best shot,” she said standing ready.

He went at her again. Mel aimed a hand at him and it began to glow. Just as it came in contact with his chest.

“SPIRIT FOX WAVE!” Mel shouted and Kyo was sent flying back into the living room.

“Oh, Kyo!” Toru said. “Are you alright.”

Mel put hand over her chest where he had hit her and sat down on the ground with her head bowed. There was a full moon.

“Damn it,” she muttered.

“Mel, are you okay,” Kurama said.

Mel looked up to see Kurama and Hiei looking towards her with everyone else including a pissed off Kyo. Before she could answer light shot from the full moon and at her. Her eyes began to glow. Soon her hand began to glow. When the light ended she stood up.

All the others except Kurama and Hiei gasped. Mel now had a bushy tail and fox ears on her head.

“What the hell,” Kyo said.

“Damn it, not now,” Mel said.

“Mel you have a bushy tail and fox ears?!” Momiji cried.

“That is her Fox Demon form,” Hiei said.

“Fox Demon?” Momiji said as he looked at Mel.

“Well it seems our friends have secrets of their own,” Shigure said.

Kyo began laughing.

“Shut Up,” Mel growled as her tail went straight and her ears lowered showing that she was angry. “Unless you want your spirit to become my midnight snack, in human form I can’t steal someone’s spirit, but in my Demon form I can.” She flexed her claws.

Kyo stopped laughing.

“Well it’s eleven let’s go to bed,” Toru said. Mel followed Toru as the others went their own way.

“Goodnight Mel,” Toru said as Mel curled up near the window. “You sure you don’t want a sleeping bag.”

“Yah, in my demon form I can just curl into a ball and I go right to sleep,” Mel said. “Night.”

Chapter 3

*Beep Beep Beep*

Mel growled as she shifted herself.

*Beep Beep Beep*

The alarm kept going off and Mel tiredly accepted defeat. She got up and stretched as Toru came in.

“Morning, yikes,” Toru stepped back in alarm. Mel’s tail was spiked in all directions and her ears were flat as her hair was totally messed up.

“Uhhh…” Mel groaned as she flexed her tail straight. *Yawn*

“It seems you have trouble waking up in the morning too,” Toru said. “Why don’t you take a shower, the others aren’t up yet.”

“Thanks,” Mel said as Toru handed her a towel and one of her dresses. It was purple to Mel’s delight.

Mel slowly made her way to the bathroom. As she looked in the bathroom mirror she grimaced because she still had her fox ears, her tail she could hide but not her ears. She stripped herself and stepped into the shower. She was still half out of it and she didn’t notice she had turned on the cold knob. Yelping she quickly turned on the warm water.

“Well,” she thought. “That woke me up.”

When Mel got downstairs she found everyone up. Shigure, Kyo, Yuki, Toru, Haru, Momiji, and Kurama sat at the table while Hiei stood leaning against the wall.

“You’ll be taking a entrance exam today,” Shigure said.

“I don’t think so,” Mel growled.

“You still have fox ears!” Momiji said.

“There is no way I’m going with my fox ears,” Mel said sitting down.

“Maybe no one will notice,” Toru said.

“They’ll notice,” everyone but Hiei and Kurama said.

“We could tell them they’re fake,” Yuki said.

“That should work,” Toru said.

“It’s settled your still going,” Shigure said.

“I haven’t been to school in,” Mel started.

“A year,” Kurama said. Mel glared at him.

“That was for detective business,” she said.

“Don’t worry Mel your sixteen so you’ll probably end up in Toru, Yuki, and Kyo’s class,” Momiji said. Mel looked at Kyo, she was still mad at him and from the way he looked, he was still mad at her.

“Perfect,” Mel said sarcastically.

“Well we had better go,” Toru said. “I’ll show you the office where you’ll have to take the entrance exam.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” Mel said as she tried to hide her ears with her hands.

“Don’t worry,” Toru said. Mel said goodbye to Kurama and Hiei.

“Have fun at school,” Hiei said evilly. Mel glared at him and slammed the door shut behind her causing it to break.

“Everyone wants to destroy my house,” Shigure whined. *again*

As they reached the school Mel groaned. She didn’t want to be here.

“Come on, We’ll show you to the office,” Toru said.

“Uhhh,” Mel followed Toru, Yuki, and Kyo, while Haru and Momiji went in the opposite direction.

“See you later,” Momiji called.

They reached the office in ten minutes because Mel kept moving out of view whenever she saw someone.

“This is ridicules I can’t let people see my ears,” Mel said.

“We can just say their fake besides that’ll be what everyone thinks anyway,” Kyo said impatiently.

They reached the office and talked to the Secretary.

“Okay you’ll have to fill out these forms,” the secretary said handing Mel some papers. You and you friends can go into the meeting room, “by the way those ears make you look cute.” The secretary opened the door to the room.

They went in and sat down.

“Damn school,” Mel muttered as she looked at the papers.

The papers asked for her Name, Age, Height, Weight, and Parent names or legal guardian.

“What the hell do I put for Parent or guardian,” Mel growled.

“You put the name of your parents or whoever takes care down,” Toru said.

“I know but in our world I live by myself because my parents I had had in the normal world had died when I was six,” Mel said. “My spirit world parents died when I was around 300 by demon hunters.”

“Huh,” Kyo said.

“Long story,” Mel said.

“We’ll you could put down what your mother’s name was so they don’t get suspicious,” Yuki said.

“Her name was Aurora Sun Star,” Mel said as she wrote it down. She looked at what else she had to put down.

The paper also asked for hair and eye color. It asked for the last school she went to, if she had any allergies, and where she lived.

“Put down our house,” Yuki said. “After all you’ll be staying there until you can find a way home.”

Mel read through the rest of the questions and answered them. She left out the one that asked if she had a job, she couldn’t put she was a spirit detective.

After an hour she had them all filled out and got up and handed them to the secretary.

“Alright let’s see you’ll be in Class 2D,” she said.

“That means your in our class,” Toru said.

They started walking towards the lobby where they would meet Momiji and Haru. It was a half-day of school which they spent helping Mel.

“Hey,” Momiji said.

“Hello Momiji,” Mel said. “Hello Haru.”

“Hi,” Haru said.

They all turned to get ready to show Mel around.

“Hold on Miss. Mel Sun Star,” a voice said. They all turned to see President Dikai and his two assistants. “Miss. Mel Sun Star I will not allow that purple hair or those ears because I am President Dikai school rule enforcer.”

“What an Idiot,” Yuki, Kyo, and Haru said.

“President Dikai it’s her natural hair color,” Yuki said.

“Natural how, who has purple hair,” Dikai said.

“My mother that’s how,” Mel growled.

“That may be so, but I will not allow those fake cat ears,” Dikai sad.

“They’re fox ears,” Mel growled.

“I want them gone,” Dikai said. He continued to ramble on as Mel just crossed her arms and watch him act like an idiot by yelling at her.

“Hey!” Haru said.

Dikai stopped yelling and fearfully looked at Haru.

“Shut the hell up my ears are starting to bleed you bastard,” Haru said.

“Black Haru,” Everyone but Mel said.

Dikai looked fearful as Haru grabbed him.

“You should learn how to treat a lady, if she likes wearing fake fox ears then she can,” Haru said shaking him like a rag doll. “Besides she looks good that way don’t you think, it makes her look cute.”

“She is cute that way,” the two girls said.

“Snap out of it,” Dikai said.

“What if it was Yuki wearing fox ears,” Haru said.

President Dikai suddenly went spacey as he began to imagine it.

“Stop imagining me!” Yuki yelled.

“You’ve won again Hatsuharu Sohma but I’ll be back Miss. Mel Sun Star,” Dikai said as him and the two girls disappeared.

“Thanks Haru,” Mel said. “They were acting like damn idiots.”

“No problem, Babe,” Haru said as he cupped her chin. Mel’s eyes flashed dangerously as she sent Haru all the way across the lobby. There was only one person she would allow to do that. Plus she hated being called babe.

“Nice throw,” Kyo said. Mel smiled as Haru stood up rubbing his head.

“Why am I so tired,” he said.

They all rolled their eyes as they headed for the door.

“Were back,” Toru said.

“Welcome back,” Shigure said. “How was the first day of school Mel.”

“Hello Mel,” Kurama said. Mel entered the room, glared at Shigure and sat down next to Kurama. Hiei appeared near the windows

“She met that damn idiot President Dikai,” Kyo said.

“We were able to convince him that purple was Mel’s natural hair color and that she could wear fake fox ears whenever she wanted thanks to Haru changing to Black Haru,” Momiji said.

“Oh, he went to Black Haru,” Shigure said looking at Haru.

“Yah and because he cupped Mel’s chin and called her babe she sent him flying all the across the School Lobby,” Kyo said laughing.

“Hmph,” Mel’s eyes flashed dangerously again.

Kurama looked at Mel, she didn’t hit anyone unless they annoyed her but calling her babe might have been why she hit Haru.

Mel caught his look but didn’t say anything as he looked away.

“I hope everyone’s hungry,” Toru said as she brought trays of food in.

They all sat down to eat. Hiei sat against the wall eating as everyone else sat at the table.

“So that damn idiot was President Dikai,” Mel said.

“Yes, he is the student body president,” Yuki said.

“He better watch it because the next time he talks to me the way he did I’ll kick his damn ass,” Mel said.

“That’ll be fun to watch,” Kyo said.

“Just make sure you don’t get carried away because if your still in fox demon form you could easily slip and reveal who you are,” Kurama said.

“You worry too much,” Mel said standing up and walking past Hiei to the door that lead outside. “Relax I can handle my powers of my demon form just as well as my normal powers, I’m heading to the roof.” Mel went outside.

Mel sat on the roof looking out over the forest. She was lying on her back looking up at the sky. The Moon was still full. She sat up sighing. She just wanted to be back home. At least there she didn’t have to worry about people finding out that she was a fox demon. Kurama was one too but he seem to prefer being human unlike Hiei who believed that Kurama and her belonged in their demon forms.

“What’s wrong with me,” Mel said to herself. She placed a hand on her forehead and leaned back down.

Her ears perked up when she heard someone come on the roof. Turning she found Kyo standing at the edge of the roof. She stood up and walked to the edge.

“Sorry about last night,” she said jumping to the ground as Kyo just stared after her.

Mel climbed in through the window to into Toru’s room. She saw Toru sleeping already. She then slipped out the door and down the hallway into the living room. She walked to the sliding doors and looked out them. She caught a glimpse of Hiei in the forest and a flash of red. Startled she stepped outside. Kurama didn’t usually stay up this late. Deciding to follow she closed her eyes and concentrated on her true fox form. She transformed into a purple fox and took off in the direction which they were headed.

She had gone a mile when she came to a small clearing. Hiei stood against a tree while Kurama sat on a stump. They looked up as Mel jumped into the middle of the clearing. Concentrating more she transformed to her part demon form. She didn’t have to wait to hear why they were there.

“We haven’t been able to find anyway we could get home,” Kurama said. Mel looked slightly startled but quickly hid it, but not before Hiei or Kurama could catch it.

“There has to be a way to get home,” Mel said. “We got here through a black hole, if we find another we might be able to get home.”

“And if were sent somewhere different,” Hiei said.

“Ohhh, I don’t know,” Mel said leaning against a tree. For some reason she couldn’t think of anything to say to that.

“What if we do get sent somewhere different?” she thought. “What then?”

Mel sighed then looked at the sky the Moon was still full. She was worried about how long she was going to be in fox demon form this time. The longest she had been in demon form before was a month. She liked her demon form but keeping her powers secret when she is mad in this form isn’t that easy.

“I’ll continue looking,” Hiei said. “I won’t be back for a while.”

“Good luck, Hiei,” Mel said as he disappeared.

“Mel?” Kurama said.

“What is it?” Mel asked.

“Your worried about not getting home aren’t you,” he said. She looked startled then turned around to face the other way.

“What makes you think that?” she asked. Her tone sounding worried.

“You’ve showed it on your face right before you put the mask you hide behind up,” he said.

He now stood behind her. She turned to face him. She looked into his face and saw concern.

“I’m just a little worried,” she said looking at the ground. He smiled and lightly put a hand on her shoulder.

“All three of us are a little worried,” he said. She looked up at him quickly.

“Hiei isn’t,” she said. Kurama smiled.

“Hiei acts strong but he’s just as worried,” he said.

“That’s a surprise,” she said. “I always thought I was the one that hid all my feelings and true ones.” She blinked at what she just said as her cheeks went red. She had just let out her feelings right in front of Kurama.

Smiling he cupped her chin. “Your not the only one,” he said bending down and brushing her lips with his. She smiled when they broke apart and put her head on his chest. Her tail was swishing slowly and her ears were straight. A few minutes later they headed back to the house.

Mel slipped quietly back into Toru’s room and sat down on the sleeping bag Toru had put down. She laid down and curled up into a ball. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Chapter 4

*Beep Beep Beep*

Mel let out a growl and shifted her body.

*Beep Beep Beep*

“Damn clock,” Mel growled stretching her tail and flexing her claws. She saw that Toru left a towel, washcloth and the school uniform on a chair.

She got up and headed tiredly down the hall the bathroom. Knocking first she opened the door and got the water ready. She had put the cold water all the way up again and was now wide awake. After she rinsed off she dried herself and put the uniform on. She looked at her self in the mirror. She didn’t like the uniform. She brushed her long purple hair and placed it up. She puts her Fox earrings in her ears. She placed the necklace that had been her sixteenth birthday present from Kurama and Hiei. It was a necklace that helped her communicate with animals. She can understand animal feelings with it.

“I can’t believe I have to go to school,” she growled then sighed. She headed down the stairs.

“Whaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh, Kyo’s picking on me!” came a cry from the living room. Mel walked in and found Kyo yelling at Momiji and Momiji crying.

Kurama sat next to the table With Toru, Yuki, Haru, and Shigure.

“Kyo please don’t hit him,” Toru said.

“Damn Brat shut up with that crying,” Kyo growled.

“Whhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!,” Momiji cried.

Mel was getting annoyed and finally lost her patience what with Momiji’s crying and Kyo’s yelling which was making her sensitive ears hurt.

“SHUT UP BOTH OF YOU!!” Mel shouted. Kyo stopped yelling and Momiji stopped crying.

Mel sat down holding her ears to try to stop the pain.

“Mel?” Toru said.

Kurama knew what was wrong and told the others, “In fox Demon Form Mel’s ears are sensitive and any loud noises can cause her ears to hurt.”

Mel took her hands off her ears. Her earrings were glowing now.

“What the hell were you yelling about,” Mel growled at Kyo.

“Kyo was picking on me,” Momiji sniffed.

“Damn Brat,” Kyo yelled and was about to hit Momiji again.

“Hit him and make him start that annoying crying again which make my ears hurt and I’ll rip you to shreds,” Mel growled flexing her claws.

“Hmph,” Kyo sat down.

“Another Kyo,” Yuki thought. “Perfect.” He could hear from the kitchen.

“Uhh,” Mel sighed closing her eyes and letting her head fall back against the wall with a small bang.

Kurama knew Mel was pissed off about something, but what,

“We better get ready to leave Miss. Honda and Miss. Sun Star,” Yuki said getting up.

“Right, Don’t want to be late for school,” Toru said.

“Wouldn’t that be a shame,” Mel said sarcastically.

“Mel,” Kurama said. She looked at him and stood up with Kyo, Toru, Momiji, and Haru.

“Have fun at school,” Shigure said.

“Bye Shigure, Bye Kurama,” Momiji said.

“Bye Momiji,” Kurama said. He looked at Mel who was leaning against a tree and walked over to her. “Behave yourself so nobody finds out.”

“You worry to much,” Mel said as the others started to school. She waited till they were out of hearing distance and turned to Kurama her eyes looking gentle. “Don’t worry, nobody else will find out I promise.”

Quick as lighting she brushed his lips and appeared near the others. Kurama was startled at first then smiled and headed into the house.

Mel and the others reached the school grounds. Two girls stood near a small Maple Tree. One had blond hair and the other had Blackish Brown.

“Toru over here,” the one with blond hair yelled. Mel followed the others over to the two girls.

“Toru who’s your new friend?” the one with Blackish Brown hair asked.

“This is Mel Sun Star, this is her first day,” Toru said.

“I’m Uo,” the Blond hair girl said.

“I’m Hana,” the Blackish Brown hair girl said. Mel sensed something strange about her.

“You have strange electric signals,” Hana said.

Mel blinked then smiled, “And you’re a psychic.”

“How did you…” Kyo started.

“I just had a feeling that she might,” She said.

“Huh?” He said.

Mel sighed and looked at the sky. The sky seemed so different.

A bell rang throughout the grounds.

“If you want to I can show you all the best places to skip class,” Uo said.

“Uh…Sure,” Mel said as Momiji and Haru went to their class.

They entered their class and Toru showed her to a opened desk. Mel sat down as everyone else did. The teacher (Mr. Takami) walked in.

“Alright class we have a new student, Miss. Sun Star would you please stand up,” Mr. Takami said. Mel stood up. “Class this is Mel Sun Star, I hope you will all make her feel welcome”

Mel sat down in her desk next to the window and watched the leaves fall from the trees. She could hear everything the teacher said.

Three and a half hours later the bell rings.

“Come on,” Toru said. “We have got an hour and a half before class starts again.”

“I think I’ll just look around the school grounds if that’s okay,” Mel said.

“Alright,” Toru said as Mel stood up and walked through the door.

“What’s up with her,” Kyo said.

“I don’t know,” Toru said.

Mel walked along a path that lead to the tennis the courts. She came to a huge Oak tree sat down next to it. She leaned back against it and closed her eyes. Tears started to fall down her cheeks as she put her head in her knees. A hand touched her shoulder.

“Mel are you alright,” came Toru’s voice.

Mel looked up to find Toru, Yuki, Kyo, Momiji, and Haru standing near her. She quickly wiped her tears away.

“I’m fine,” she said.

“Then why were you crying,” Kyo said crossing his arms.

“Drop it,” Mel growled. She stood up and glared at him. Her ears twitched and her energy was starting to rise.

“Well are you going to tell us,” Kyo said.

“Shut up,” Mel growled.

“Kyo, maybe you should let it be,” Toru said.

“Well we want to help and she’s acting like that guy, Hiei,” Kyo said. “Where the hell did he disappear to.”

“None of your business,” Mel said.

“How about you and your friends stop acting so mysterious,” he said.

“Stupid cat,” Mel hissed.

“Say that again,” Kyo yelled clenching his fist.

“Stupid cat,” Mel hissed again.

“That’s it,” Kyo sprang at her.

Mel jumped back away from him and then jumped over him and sent a kick into his back. He turned around and punched her in her chest then kicked her beside the head and she was sent into a tree behind her, her head slamming against it. Kyo gasped as he realized how hard he had kicked. He stayed where he was shocked at what he had done.

“Oh, Mel,” Toru cried going to her side.

“Uhh,” Mel groaned as she stood up but dropped to her knees, her arm was bleeding and blood was on the back of her head.

“What did you do,” Momiji said scared.

Toru tried to help Mel up but Mel pulled her arm from her and stood up. She looked around to make sure nobody else was around then suddenly disappeared.

“Mel!” Toru cried.

“She’s gone,” Momiji said.

The others looked at Kyo who was looking at the ground. The bell rang throughout the grounds.

“That’s the bell for class to start in five minutes,” Haru said. “We should head back to Shigure’s right after school and tell Kurama, he might know where she’s at.”

“Stupid cat,” Mel growled. She had used her powers to teleport to a lake in the woods near Shigure’s house.

She knelt down next to the water and put some water on the wound on her arm. She winced from the pain.

“Damn him,” she said, her vision was blurry. She placed water on the back of her head.

The pain was strong and she wished Kurama was there. As if her thoughts had reached him he appeared on the other side of the lake.

“Mel?” he cried.

He teleported to her side and bent down to help her.

“What happened,” he said, there was worry in his voice.

“Got into a fight with Kyo,” she growled. Kurama blinked but didn’t ask anything else. “That stupid cat is stronger then I thought.”

“You couldn’t control your temper could you,” he said.

“Mmmhh,” Mel looked away.

Kurama placed a hand on the wound on her head. Her vision started to get clearer but she still felt weak. He then healed the scratches on her face and the wound on the back of her head, but his healing powers were exhausted. He tore off a piece of the edge of his shirt and tied it around her arm. He helped her up and they teleported to Shigure’s.

Kurama laid her on the sleeping bag in Toru’s room. He put a blanket on her.

“Get some rest,” he said.

“Thank you, Kurama,” Mel whispered as she fell asleep.

Kurama smiled and got up and walked out shutting the door behind him. He told Shigure and Shigure said he’ll make sure to tell the others to leave her be.

Toru and the others arrived two hours later.

“Kyo you could have gone easy on her,” Haru said.

“She started it!” Kyo yelled.

“Actually you started it and finished it,” Yuki said as the passed Shigure’s writing room.

“Who asked you, you damn rat!” Kyo yelled.

“Would you mind keeping it down you wouldn’t want to wake Mel up,” Shigure said. “After that beating you gave her she needs her rest.’

“Mel’s here,” Momiji said.

“Yes, Kurama brought her in two hours ago,” Shigure said. “She hasn’t woken up since.”

“Will she be alright,” Haru said. “She hit her head pretty hard.”

“Kurama said she’ll be fine,” Shigure said. “I called Hatori anyway he said he can’t come till tomorrow so she probably won’t be going to school tomorrow.”

“Where’s Kurama?” Toru asked.

“He’s out somewhere,” Shigure said.

“He’ll miss dinner,” Toru said.

It was 9:30 when Kurama entered the house. He sat down in the living room. He had found while he was out some herbal leaves that could be melted in tea and help to heal wounds. He relized how late it was and decided to give it to Mel the next day. He hoped she wouldn’t end up sleeping for days like in their world. He shook his head. Mel will probably be up and acting as normal as she usually was in her demon form. He decide to sleep on the couch.

Chapter 5

Mel groaned when she felt someone watching her. Opening her eyes she saw Kurama sitting next to her. He looked like he was asleep.

“Kurama?” Mel said. He opened his eyes and looked at her.

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

“I’ve felt better,” she said. “Where are the others?”

“School,” he said.

Mel sat up.

“Ouch,” she had leaned right on her right arm which still had the slash from hitting the tree. “That’s strange, my healing powers aren’t working.”

“It might just need time,” Kurama said. “After all were in another world.”

“Yah, your probably right,” Mel said.

Kurama helped her up and they walked downstairs.

As they walked into the living room they found Shigure sitting with a man blackish brown hair.

“Oh, good morning Mel, Kurama,”  Shigure said as he and the man looked at them. “This is Hatori Sohma, he’s a doctor.”

Mel’s ears twitched and her tail straightened at the word “doctor”.

“Mel,” Kurama warned.

Mel glared at him as she sat down.

“Let’s look at that arm,” Hatori said.

He checked to make sure it wasn’t broken.

“Well it’s not broken,” he said. “But you won’t be able use it for awhile.”

*Ring Ring*

“Hello,” Shigure said answering the phone. “Oh, Mie.”


“Shigure….Wahhhhhhhhhhhh.” (Other Line)

Blah Blah Blah.” (Other line)

“Yes, Yes I’ve got it done,” Shigure said.

“Blah Blah Blah.” (Other line)

“Goodbye,” Shigure hung up.

“I really don’t know why she puts up with you,” Hatori said to him while he re-bandaged Mel’s arm. “There, Take this to keep the pain down.” He handed her a bottle of Tyenol.

“Thanks,” Mel said stretching her arm.

“Were home,” came Toru’s voice.

Toru, Yuki, Kyo, Momiji, and Haru walked in.

“Hello Hatori,” Toru said.

“Mrs. Sun Star how are you feeling?” Yuki said.

“I’ve been better,” she said eyeing Kyo.

“Mel doesn’t have a broken arm does she,” Momiji said.

“No Momiji, she doesn’t,” Hatori said.
“That’s good,” Haru said.

Everyone noticed Mel and Kyo glaring at each other. They sat down trying to keep Kyo and Mel as far away from each other as they could.

“Mel do you know what Zodiac animal Hatori is,” Toru said.

“Dragon,” Mel said.

Everyone was amazed.

“How?” Momiji said.

“Just had feeling that he was the dragon,” Mel said shrugging.

“Buy the way what Zodiac animal are you,” Toru said.

“Hiei’s an Fire Dragon, Kurama’s an Earth Snake, and I’m a Fire Cat,” Mel said.

Kyo looked at her when she said that.

“The cat isn’t part of the Zodiac though,” Yuki said.

“Time is different in our world,” Mel said. “In our world each animal has five different elements, Wood, Earth, Water, Metal, and Fire. The cat in our world was originally the year of the rabbit. But only one person each year of the rabbit is the cat. I was lucky enough to be born in the year that was celebrated as the year of the cat.”

“So that’s why she and Kyo are so much alike,” Momiji said.

“What!” Kyo and Mel yelled.

“I’m nothing like her,” Kyo said.

“Yes you are, you both have tempers,” Momiji said.

“Why you damn brat,” Kyo said about to hit him.

“Kyo…” Mel growled.

Kyo stopped as he relized Mel was flexing her claws. He sat down and shut his mouth.

“True as that might be,” Yuki said. “Kurama isn’t anything like my brother.”

“That’s true and Hiei hasn’t been around long enough to know if he’s like Hatori,” Haru said.

“That’s it,” Momiji said.

“What’s it,” Toru said.

“They’re both mysterious,” Momiji said.

“Momiji!” Toru said.

Hatori didn’t look offended at all. He didn’t have time too, because a knock came at the door. It opened and a man that looked almost exactly like Yuki, but with longer hair appeared.

“Hello Everyone!” he said.

“Ah, Aya,” Shigure said.

“Oh no,” Yuki and Kyo said.

“Why hello Lucky Kyo and little brother,” Ayame said.

“Damn it, stop calling me that!” Kyo yelled.

“Hello Aya,” Shigure said.

“And Hello to you Shigure,” Ayame said. “And also to you Hatori.”

Hatori looked like he didn’t even notice Ayame. He was packing his bag. Ayame looked at everyone else as he noticed two new people.

“Let me guess, The snake,” Mel said. Her ears were twitching and her tail was swishing behind her.

“Yes,” Toru said. “Ayame this is Mel Sun Star and Kurama.”

“What a lovely name,” Ayame said taking Mel’s hand and kissing it.

*WHAM*

Ayame was sent through the door. Mel’s tail was bristled, her fangs were showing, her ears were laid back against her head, and her energy was rising.

“Never touch me HEANTAI SNAKE!” Mel growled.

Everyone but Kurama was staring at her.

“WHAT!” Mel yelled snapping them back to reality.

“Wow that was neat,” Momiji said.

“Why thank you,” Mel said smiling devilish and bowing.

“Mel…” Kurama said warningly.

“What’d I do,” Mel said looking at Kurama innocently.

Kurama looked at her with a look that said `You know what you did`.

“Alright, Don’t start lecturing me like Hiei,” Mel yelled. “Ssshhh, damn fire demon‘s just love criticizing.”

“Like Hiei would be any other way?” Kurama said raising an eyebrow.

“Kurama, don’t make me rip out your precious voice box,” Mel growled.

“You’ve been hanging around Hiei too much,” Kurama said.

“Can I help it if the freaking toddler of a lord only allowed me to be known to you and Hiei!” Mel yelled throwing her hands up in the air.

She growled, “I don’t need this right now, I’m having enough trouble trying to get back to human form.”

“Hmm Hmm,” chuckled Kurama.

“Don’t chuckle at me fox,” Mel growled. “Unlike Hiei I carry out my threats.”

“Hmm Hmm,” Kurama chuckled again.

“That’s it,” Mel growled jumping at him.

Kurama managed to jump out of the way, as Mel ended up sliding to a stop.

“Argh,” Mel jumped at him again, pinning him to the ground.

“Well well well,” Mel said, her claws just inches from his throat and her legs straddling his waist. “Who’s laughing now.”

A bright light burst from Kurama. The next minute his hair was longer and silver and he had fox ears. He flipped her over his head and then pinned her, straddling her waist, and his claws pinning her arms.

“I believe I am,” he chuckled as Mel growled.

Mel’s face turned blood red, she noticed the others were grinning.

“You can get off now,” Mel growled, her face turning redder. She was starting to feel weird and her arousal was growing, her scent was masked, she was glad that Shigure couldn’t pick it up.

“I don’t think so,” he said. His own arousal growing. Her scent was starting to effect him. His body was starting to feel strange.

“Alright, that’s Yoko talking, great,” Mel thought. “Hentai fox, just peachy.”

“Don’t they make such a cute couple,” Ayame said having just woke from unconsciousness.

“Ah, young love,” Shigure said.

They both started babbling on about young love while the others grinned.

Mel’s face was turning redder.

“Get off or I’ll blast you off,” Mel growled.

“Hmm,” Kurama chuckled.

“Arrrrrrrrrr!” Kurama was blasted into the back yard.

Mel growled and jumped at the two babbling bakas, within seconds they were knocked unconscious.

“Anyone else want to open their mouths,” Mel growled as everyone wisely backed up. “Now for fox boy.”

Mel jumped outside and picked up Kurama’s scent in the woods. She sniffed the air and took off in the scents direction.

Kurama stood by the lake he had found Mel injured by. He was still in Yoko form but had his own mind. Him and Yoko had became one a while back during a mission with Yusuke.

He had needed to get out of there, Mel’s scent of arousal was starting effect him. He slowly tried to get his senses under control, it was then he picked up her arousal scent coming towards him. She landed not even a couple of feet in front of him and walked in front of him.

Mel stopped when the scent of his arousal reached her nose. She closed her eyes, trying not to react to it.
