Getting to Know You

That first day of training was rough.

The girls (Yukina, Rin, and Botan) meditated for about half an hour before an afternoon of learning hand-to-hand combat basics. They were given a lunch break along with everyone else except Yahiko and Genkai, who were still incapacitated.

After lunch, they meditated another half hour with Hiei, Sesshomaru, and Kurama respectively. Then, they were taught the basics of several different weapons: the bow and arrow, the katana, the bo staff, the sais, and the scythe.

When night came, everyone was extremely sore but accomplished.

By the end of the month, everyone had advanced to a new level.

Botan became very partial with the bo staff, especially since she didn't really like to see an opponent's blood.

Against Sesshomaru's better judgment, Rin practiced more and more with her sais. He wanted her kept out of close-range battle, but her skills with the weapon left no room for argument.

Yukina worked well with a bow and arrow. It was her favorite maneuver to create her own arrows by freezing moisture in the air while she drew the bowstring back. She literally pulled her arrows out of thin air so it looked as though she were shooting nothing.

Yahiko's reiki was better spent practicing with Yusuke, whereas Kenji got along better with Genkai.

Yahiko's powers would only manifest by channeling through another object.

He learned to charge certain objects, like small rocks, with his reiki and then trigger their explosion using his mind. He could also feed his energy into his katana, making it capable of cutting through other reiki (like Genkai's) and harming supernatural beings like ghosts or apparitions.

Kenji's reiki was harder to control.

It was manifested whenever he felt particularly strong surge of emotion, in a single blast of energy. After meditating with Genkai and, to his surprise, Raven, for a week, he learned to control it a little better. He could now store the energy for short periods of time with concentration, and direct the reiki blast in one direction instead of all around him.

Yukina, Kuwabara, Rin, Sesshomaru, and Hiei were constantly under English onslaught. They were learning the language rapidly whether they wanted to, or not.

The group had become a team, knowing all of each other's battle strategies and weak spots. However, they still didn't know very much about each other's lives.

One day, the Titans sat down in their gigantic living room with new friends, and they all exchanged stories.

The tantei's history, particularly Yusuke's, was the longest and most confusing so he went first.

"It all started back in junior high when I saved this kid's life…<insert story here>" At certain intervals when their names were mentioned, the other tantei provided their commentary.

Next, Kenji and Yahiko retold their while history for the Titans.

Finally, Rin told the tale of herself `saving' Sesshomaru. He actually said nothing at first, but as the story progressed more and more into a flowery fairy tale courtesy of Rin, he took over.

Sugar-coating nothing and stating bland facts about his life, Sesshomaru finished his morbid past.

The whole talk took up about three hours that day, and it was getting late. Yusuke yawned and stretched.

"Damn. We've been here over a month now! I STILL haven't got to see what's so special about America!" Beastboy grinned.

"Well maybe the Titan's should show you what the REAL American night life is all about!" Blackfire perked up mischievously.

"It's a good thing we girls went to the mall a while back. I had a feeling something like this would come up!"

"So that is the reason you wished you purchase the male clothing!" said Starfire innocently.

"WHAT?!" yelled every male occupant in the tower.

A/n- Not too happy with this chapter, but I'm hoping it will be leading to a much better one. I plan to make the club scene as soon as I buy another notebook to write it in.
