Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction / Fan Fiction ❯ The Evil In Us All ❯ Night Part 2 ( Chapter 19 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Im just in shock here… You guys really liked it… the powers of speech have left me.

**pulls herself together** I confess I had my computer fixed a while back, but I wanted so badly to move on to something else; another story. I even went so far as to move over to e-fiction.org under the pen name WildWasabi.

But even now, months and MONTHS after my last update, I keep getting these random reviews begging me (and threatening me) to please update. I was truly touched (and a little scared)…

So much so that as I was sitting, reading the reviews from several fans, I started to type up the next chapter almost without a thought. It would just have been cruel for me not to… Thank you so much to everyone who reviewed! Without the reviews, I would not have continued with this fic. **sob**

Black fire angel - You really think so?… *blush* that would mean a lot more to me if you would **hint hint** UPDATE your damn story… you have no idea how long I've been waiting for the next chapter…

Faia - Muahahahaha yesh I am an evil baka onna! Hey! That would make a good penname… Oh poo, I think someone already has it… Anyhoo, as for the Hiei/Raven-ness: I actually read the pairing in another fanfic and immediately fell in love with it myself. In fact, it's the same fic I've based this one on!

Rose Fury - ahem… yeah, after this chapter you can decide whether you still want a go at Kuwabara, although I don't see why anyone WOULDN'T want a go at Kuwabara. (I practically wanted a go at him) heh heh… I sound like an English person… Glad you like it!

Mr. Wednesday - I totally agree. It IS underrated… Thanks for the kudos! Hiei/Raven is probably one of my favorite pairings in all of fanfic-dom; second only to Sesshoumaru/Rin and Misao/Aoshi…

Naru - YOU'D BETTER KEEP READING YOU MARSHMELLOW POKER NUT!

K.T.W.H - OOOOOKKKKKKKAAAAAAAYYYY!!! ^_^

daddys lil demon - Hiei is NOT gay!! Power to the Hiei fangirls!! Woot woot!! Now what's your address so I can hunt you down, kill you, and Hiei will be all mine? Muahahaha, glad you're lovin the Hiei/Raven-ness; I love writing it and I humbly thank you for the compliments…

Randomravenfan - Wow, Yours was actually the review that made me update, if you really want to know… I thank you for being such a devoted reader! And I DEDICATE THIS CHAPTER TO YOU!! (I hope you're not a big Kuwabara-fangirl) I was really happy with the last chapter I wrote and Im glad you liked it so much…

Poikaer and Anonymous - Up yours!! Suck on that! AY-IE-IE-IE-IE!!! Lol, just playing!! Lalalalalalalala. My God, in the office next door, I heard some lady crooning at her baby, “Hollaback Girl” -_-…. So creepy…

Demongirl03 - **wince** Don't worry, It's not over yet! Take a few deep breaths and read this chapter! No need to get violent….

Bad boy lover - Just looking at your penname, I can tell you and I would really get along! My xanga is completely dedicated to bad-boy anime bishounen! And it doesn't hurt that you think my fic is one of the best you've ever read… ^_~ Im as susceptible to flattery as the next girl… well, not really.

Well, Im taking a pretty daring step in this chapter and I will no doubt gain a lot a flames for it. To keep from spoiling anything, I'll give you this hint: This is the closest I've come to bashing Kuwabara. And not in a funny way… If that doesn't appeal to you, or you can't handle it, please walk away now… You've been warned.

Night Part II

At the opposite end of the dance floor, Yukina was frantically trying to think of any excuse not to dance.

“Oh Kazuma, I'm afraid I don't know how…”

“Don't worry, my love! I'll teach you.”

“Don't be silly. I don't want to ruin your fun!!” She said almost desperately, edging away from the crowd.

The truth was, she had come to a final decision. She knew she did not love Kuwabara and she needed to tell him so, now.

He deserved to have someone who would return his love. He needed to move on…

Kuwabara looked crestfallen for a moment until he saw the sincere sadness in her lovely face. Of course, he thought it was because of her lack of dancing ability… He brightened again.

“We can just sit down and talk then!” Yukina gave up and allowed him to steer her over to a small booth by the wall. She looked up at his wide, happy grin and almost wanted to cry.

How could she be thinking of doing something like this to him? Cruelly break his heart in front of all of their comrades? Kuwabara had become her best friend in the long time that they'd known each other, and purposely hurting him was the last thing she'd ever wanted to do.

`I hope he knows… I'm not just hurting him when I say it…' Yukina thought, preparing herself mentally to go through with this act. Even if it hurt, they would be able to get over it once the words were spoken, and they could both move on.

Kuwabara simply sat back and basked in the beautiful koorime's company. She looked especially pretty tonight.

Her mint green locks were pulled into an elegant bun complete with chopsticks and several strands purposely hanging down. An ice blue Chinese-style top with high collar and flaring sleeves clung snugly to her slim torso. The faintest shadow of her legs could be made out through her slinky, silver skirt with a high slit up the back.

He was well aware of the glares that many male club patrons were throwing at him and he couldn't help but gloat. Just a little…

Yukina interrupted him mid-sentence during a long narrative about his kitten, Iekichi.

“Kazuma, I'm sorry. I really am. I just can't like you the way you want me to…” she blurted at last. Finally the words were said! She couldn't take them back now.

His face didn't change. It froze in an expression of happiness (He had been talking about his cat, remember? Course you do…). He couldn't seem to get his mind around what she had just said. To Yukina, it would have been better if he had started screaming in anguish.

To see him in this disbelieving, frozen, state of being oblivious, sadly enough, it only made her more repulsed. That shocked her. Repulsive? He was obsessive and clueless of course, but since when had she found him repulsive?

The cruelty of her own subconscious frightened her. Meanwhile, Kuwabara went from frozen disbelief to the predicted anguish in three seconds flat. He looked as though she had physically, slowly crushed his heart into a messy, bleeding pulp.

“What do you mean, Yukina-chan?…” he said in a voice that could only be described as moaning. “I've been in love with you since the day we first met!… How can you say that to me now? Maybe if you give us some more time, you'll grow to---”

“No.” She meant to be firm and decisive, but it came out sounding sad. Perhaps that's what he drew new strength from.

Grief taking hold of him, he grabbed her and began to shake her by the shoulders with emphasis to his words.

“How can I make you understand?! We're meant to be together, I know it!” He was no longer shaking her. He was shoving her away from and back against him, as though he were conflicting whether to allow her to leave him or hold her tight and never let go.

His fingers were bruising her tender flesh, but she didn't have the heart to cry out. She deserved it. She deserved every minute of it.

“Kuwabara, you're hurting me…” she said quietly, fighting against the rising sobs in her throat. How could things have turned so ugly?

Suddenly, the couple was knocked apart. Yukina was safely pushed back a few paces, but Kuwabara lost his footing and skidded away from the booth they had been sitting at.

When he got up again and blinked the tears from his eyes - When had he started to cry? he wondered. Men don't cry… Yukina… - he was surprised to find a certain raven-haired samurai glaring at him openly.

Another smooth, sailing punch courtesy of Yahiko had Kuwabara once again sprawled on the floor before the confused carrot-top could react.

Don't you touch her again.” he said, venom dripping heavily from each word, even as he turned to Yukina, concerned.

“Are you---”

“KAZUMA! STOP, PLEASE!!” Yukina cried, too late.

Barely in time, Yahiko managed to push the ice maiden out of harm's way. As a result, he had no time to block the attack.

Kuwabara rained blow after blow on Yahiko in an endless barrage of punches until an especially strong one caused Yahiko to fly backward onto the booth's table. With the older boy immobile temporarily, Kuwabara continued hitting him, viciously cracking a few ribs.

Yahiko finally threw the grief-stricken boy off of himself and scrambled to his feet unsteadily. He had about two broken ribs from what he could tell and he knew he would have some serious bruises come the next day.

Kuwabara's lip had been torn open, but that was the only outward sign of injury that the samurai could see. Yahiko guessed, without boasting, that this made the two boys about even. Both of their outfits were in disarray, the patterns barely even distinguishable.

Kuwabara had been wearing a plain power blue collared shirt, halfway opened with a white undershirt and black jeans.

Yahiko's clothing had been a little more American-ized. He had worn a dark, golden-yellow sleeveless shirt with a thick gold chain around his throat, black sweatbands around his wrists and black cargo jeans.

A small pile of precious gemstones lay gathered in Yukina's lap. Never in her life had she felt so helpless. Not even when she was the prisoner of Gonzo Turukine (Did anyone else find it odd that this incredibly ugly bastard had the same name as a Muppet character? I LIKED Gonzo!).

“Imouto-chan!” Hiei had finally appeared at her side, immediately checking her all over for injuries. He growled furiously when he smelled her pain and even more when he noted the welts growing on her forearms.

His eyes began to bleed red. (Look out world)

“Where is that ---” Here he said some curse in a demonic language that, luckily, Yukina didn't know. Apparently, Hiei hadn't been able to think of a human word bad enough to call him.

His gaze swiveled to where Kuwabara lay, newly unconscious, at Yahiko's feet. He seriously considered lighting the idiot bastard on fire, but decided it would be more fun to torture the shit slowly before death. Hiei actually smiled at the thought. (THIS is what makes Hiei smile, people…^_^)

As if reading his mind, Yukina cried harder, spilling more crystals over her cheeks.

“Please don't kill him, onii-sama! He's still - despite everything - he's still my best friend…” Hiei snarled.

Not at her, of course, but at his own weakness toward his imouto's emotion.

“Very well. But I will speak to the baka in any case…” He moved over to Kuwabara's body, thought longingly of dissecting him alive, and his third eye began to glow.

`~If you EVER assault my imouto-chan again, even her compassionate pleas will not be enough to save you~'

Kuwabara groaned, but did not get up.

“What do we do with him?” asked Yahiko with almost equal disgust.

“I will take him back to the tower,” Hiei answered with distaste. “There is no point in getting everyone worked up over his stupidity…”

Yahiko nodded and made a move to go comfort the ice maiden. When he saw Kuwabara with her, he felt a kind of rising pain in his chest, like a dart being shot deeper and deeper into his heart. Was this what jealousy felt like? `Poor busu…' he thought, thinking wistfully about his adoptive mother/sister Himura Kaoru.

An invisible chord inside of him had snapped when Kuwabara had started hurting her. Even if he hadn't been morally obligated to save anyone in the same situation, Yahiko would have gladly killed the bastard if it had been up to him.

“Take care of her…” Yahiko was brought out of his musings when he heard the hybrid demon speak. Hiei had stumbled over the sentence with difficulty. He NEVER asked people for favors. NEVER. It just wasn't done.

Yahiko grinned, not really knowing what a moment this was. “Sure.”

As soon as Hiei departed with Kuwabara, Yahiko staggered over to Yukina. She had not moved from that spot and remained solidly staring at the floor, eyes glazed.

He was afraid to say anything. Why, he had no idea.

It was hard to think of something TO say when you've gone through an ordeal like that with someone. Finally, it dawned on him.

“Are you okay?” The sentence came out somewhat more gruff than he'd planned, but the effect was pleasing all the same.

The sudden need for comfort sent Yukina launching her normally-so-composed self into Yahiko's embrace. She choked on dry sobs as he held on to her ever more tightly in response.

“Let it all out…”

Well? How was it? Okay for the first update in a long time I hope! I made it longer than usual as a reward for being patient. I'm not really too happy with it to tell you the truth…

Please review and once again, I was absolutely overwhelmed by your guy's response last time around.

All of you (Yes, flamers too) rock! Thank you.
