“ I can't believe the old hag actually gave us the day off,” Yusuke Urameshi said to his friends over his shoulder. His arms were crossed behind his head as he walked infront of the group. His trademark slick back hair was still his coif, but ditched his usual green suit. Instead he wore a blue buttoned up shirt, white blouse underneath, a pair of jeans, and white sneakers.

“ Well Yusuke, Genkai feels that we've earned this priviledge,” Kurama replied as he caught up with Yusuke. Girls on the other side of the street, were swooning over him as Kurama walked by and staring at his pyhsique hidden by his magenta school uniform. Unfazzed, Kurama walked on while hiding a smile. He looked behind him over at Hiei who was wearing his usual black cape and scowl. Hiei caught his eyes and nodded his head as if answering a silent question that was passed by their eyes.' Seems the old woman was right. He fell for the bait, hn ningen no baka,' Hiei thought and passed the message to Kurama.

' Now Hiei, you of all people know you admire Yusuke for his power and strength so why the insults?' Kurama smirked knowingly of his friends reaction, Hiei's scowl deepening and folding his arms across his chest.

' That doesn't make him any less of an idiot,' Hiei growled back, ' You know as well as I do of the mission at hand yet he can't even figure it out. Not even the big oaf, though that's quite expected.' Kurama turned his head back to the front and chuckled quietly so Yusuke nor Kuwabara could hear. Only Hiei caught the silent laughing from Kurama and asked, ' What is so funny?'

' Nothing really, but its something you said. Yusuke does seem a bit clueless about all this. Has it even crossed his mind that its very unlikely, for a woman like Genkai, to be so lenient with free time? He should know by now that Genkai is not one to give a day off without good merit.'

' What merit? Even with good reason, she keep us back to make us balance on our finger, for twelve hours straight, on a pointed triangle.' Hiei snapped back at the kitsune.

' It matters not. Besides you have failed to realize we have come to our designation,' Kurama replied as he stopped abruptly causing Hiei to collide right into him.“ So this is the place,” Yusuke said while placinghis hands in his pockets and looking up at the shrine. “ Somehow this doesn't look like a place to be holding any old fighting tournament.”

“ Who cares, Urameshi!” Kuwabara said while slightly panting. “ The point is were here and we can finally take a break.” Kuwabara eased himslef against the wall and sighed.

“ Hn. Lazy, baka ningen,” Hiei muttered, but loud enough for Kuwabara to hear as he appeared from behind Kurama.

“ What's that supposed to mean, ankle bitter?!” Kuwabara yelled as a vein appeared. He shook his fist voilently, but Hiei walked passed him and up the steps to the shrine.

“ What I mean is, baka, we still have to go up the steps in order to get to the ' tounament',” Hiei sneered and looked back at him.

“ Well, then we should get going ,” Yusuke said following Hiei. Kuwabara whimpered, but stopped as realization dawned on him.

“ Wait! You just called me stupid two
times all ready!” Kuwabara barked as he pushed Yusuke out of the way, who stumbled backwards, and was now face to face with Hiei.

Hiei smirked and replied, “ Your point?” Kuwabara growled and lunged at him, but was stopped by Yusuke pulling on his collar.

“ Stop your bickering,” Yusuke said letting go of his collar making Kuwabara fall face first onto the ground.

“ Agreed Yusuke, but perhaps we should wait for a moment,” Kurama said while Kuwabara in the background was getting up, rubbing his nose and mumbling things like, “ stupid pointy haired dwarf,”.

“ Why Kurama?” Yusuke asked while quirking an eyebrow.

“ We should wait to see if anyone else shows up for the tournament. So that way we know we've found the right location,” Kurama answered as he sat down on a near by bench. Hiei understood as he sat down on the stone step. They had to wait for the girl to show up so they could follow her to the shrine's shack. ' Hn, I could just break in to the shrine's shack and find the well on my own,' Hiei said telepathically to Kurama.

' Hiei, you know as well as I do that Koenma specifaclly said, that the well is sealed with charms,' Kurama gave Hiei a meanigful look as if to say ' don't-even-think-about-it'. Hiei gave a silent hn. ' Besides the seals are quite powerfull.'

' So not even Demon World's own Youko Kurama can crack this sealed well opened. Hn pathetic,' Hiei snorted.

“ I guess we should wait for a while. Come to think of it, I'm bushed!” Yusuke yawned and joined Hiei on the steps. Kuwabara leaned on the wall and tilted his head down to sleep. Hiei looked back at Kurama who had begun to reply Hiei's taunt.

' Don't bother with trying to get me riled up, Hiei. Yes, I admit that my other half cannot open the well, but for a reason. You see, the seals were made many centuries before Youko Kurama was born so the seals are very complex to the both of us. Despite our reputation as Demon World's best thief, we have our limits,' Kurama replied solemly. Hiei looked up to the clear sky.

' This is going to be a long day,' Hiei thought to himself. Or so he thought as he heard Kurama chuckle at his impatients.

“ Have a nice conversation?” Yusuke asked from his side. Hiei turned to his right and smirked as he noted Yusuke's clueless face.

Hiei leaned back and closed his eyes. Smirking he soflty murmurmed, “ You have no idea.”

Kagome

“ I'm late! Inuyasha is going to kill me!” Kagome wailed as she ran down the streets of Japan. Panting very hard, she turned a corner and nearly ran over two little old ladies. “ How rude!” One of them scolded, but Kagome had no time to apolpgize. ' I just hope mom finished the lunch packs for the others,' Kagome thought as a trail of sweat made its way down the side of her face. She came to a crosswalk with many people bunched together waiting to cross over to the other side.

“ Come on ,come on, come on!” Kagome muttered under her breath as she jogged in place. The light switched to WALK and Kagome bolted through the people. ' Two more blocks!' She thought as she reached the other side still running as fast as her feet could go. Kagome came down to end of the block and smiled.

“ One more to go!” Kagome said out loud. Blinded with joy of getting home in time, she didn't notice the figure rounding the corner. BAM! Kagome screeched as a book went flying into the air and was sprawled onto the ground. ' Ow!' Kaogme thought as she eased herself up with her hands and subconciously looked up to find the book coming back at her from the sky. WACK! Swirls form infront of Kagome's eyes as the book now laid upon her lap as if it was always there.

“ Today is not my day,” Kagome said dazed.

“ Apparently not, Hirugashi,” A voice above her chuckled. Snapping out of her daze, Kagome looked up and was over joyed. Jumping from the ground, catching the book before it slipped from her lap, she hugged the other person.

“ Nice to see you two, Kagome,” the cerulean eyed girl said laughing lightly.

Pulling back, Kagome smiled broadly and said, “ Kira! What are you doing here?” Kagome handed the book back.

“ I just left theater practice and decided to take a walk,” Kira replied while taking the book and placing it under her arm. “ From the looks of it, your late for something aren't you, kid?”

Kagome gasped, “ On no I forgot! I'm so late!” She made a move to run, but was stopped by a tug on her shirt.

“ Woah, slow down! How about we both go to your place to catch up on a few things,” Kira camly answered. Kagome looked back and nodded. ' Great! How am I suppose to get out of this one and explain to Inuyasha why I'm late?' Kagome inwardly sighed. Together the two girls walked a cross the street and made their way down the block. Slowly the shrine came into view.
Back to the Boys

Kurama perked up as he sensed a strange spirit energy coming their way. He whipped his head to the left to tell Hiei, but Hiei was no where to be seen.

“ Do you sense that?” Hiei's voice wafted down to Kurama. Kurama looked up and saw Hiei crouching in a tree trying to see which way the energy was coming from.

“ Yes. I shall rouse the others,” Kurama replied. He stood up and ran up to Kuwabara who was slumped against the wall and shook him vigourusly.

“ Kuwabara, you need to wake up right this instant!”

“ Lay off Shizuru! Give me five more minutes,” Kuwabara sleepily drawled out and returned to snoring. Kurama let his hold on Kuwabara go and watched him fall to the ground. Kurama turned to the steps and kneeled infront of Yusuke.

“ Yusuke, wake up its very urgent!” Kurama desperatly pleaded.

“ Shut up you old hag and let me sleep for a little bit longer!” Yusuke shouted in his sleep. Mistaking Kurama with Genkai, he swung his arm at Kurama's head who dodged it easily. Kurama sighed. ' Nothing! How am I suppose to wake these two?' Kurama thought for a moment letting his eyes close.

His eyes snapped opened and whispered, “ I wonder.” Kurama walked back to Kuwabara, wrapped his arms around his waist, and dragged him over to Yusuke. He then dangled Kuwabara over Yusuke letting there mouths all most touch. ' Their going to slaughter me for this!' Kurama thought sweating.

“ Yusuke,” Kurama said quietly. “ Keiko's here and she wants to tell you something.”

He watched as Yusuke's frown turn to a smile. Yuskue mumbled, “ Keiko? I'm sorry, did I forget we had a date tonight?” Kuwabara grunted that precise moment in his sleep.

Yusuke thinking Keiko was really there, toke the grunt as a hint of annoyance. Yusuke smiled and, still sleeping, wrapped his arms around Kuwabara's neck and said, “ Forgive me, but if you don't, let me make it up to you.” He was bringing Kuwabara towards him for a kiss and Kurama bended down trying to hold back a snigger. Kuwabara felt cold hands on his neck and slowly his eyes began to open. All he could see was blur of color and outline of Yusuke. He felt arms around his waist and sensed it was Kurama holding him. Wait! Why was Yusuke so close to him that he could feel him breathing on his face? His eyes snapped open and there was Yusuke pulling him in for a kiss.

“ Keiko,” Yusuke groaned. Kuwabara began to panic.

“ URAMESHI!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Kuwabara screamed in his face and Kurama released his hold on him and jumped back. Yusuke stopped pulling and opened his eyes. His eyes widen in shock and yelled so loud that passer-byes on the other side of town could hear his screams. Kuwabara and Yusuke were on all fours, spiting at the ground, and wiping their mouths.They both jumped up and where panting for air. Kurama put on a fake act of innocence as the two turned to look at him. Kurama gulped. If looks could kill, Kurama would be six feet under at that precise moment. The two glared at Kurama ready to pounce him, when Kuwabara picked up on an energy single and snapped his head towards the left.

“ Something's heading this way,” Kuwabara said softly. Yusuke stopped stalking towards Kurama and looked to the left as well. Hiei moved his eyes back and forth until they landed on two girls. One was quite ordinary, but the other radiated spirit energy all over the place. ' That must be her, ' Hiei thought. ' Either she can't mask her energy or she's trying to lure us. Maybe the old woman was being senial.' Hiei jumped off the branch and landed on his feet scaring Yusuke and Kuwabara senseless.

“ Sheesh Hiei! No need to scare us,” Yusuke said scatchinglly. “So, is it one of the fighters?”

“ Not exactly,” Hiei mumbled. All four of them watched as two figures slowly came into view.

“ Funny,” Yusuke began, “ they don't seem like their built for fighting.”

“ No kidding!” Kuwabara said indigantly. “ If I didn't know any better, I say those two look like girls.” Soon the shaded figures were five feet infront of them talking very fast.

“ Wait a minute! They are girls!” Yusuke yelled. The two girls stopped before them and looked at him like he was possessed by a crazy spirit. Kurama's eyes widen. It was the same girl from the picture. ' Kagome Hirugashi, we meet at last,' Kurama thought.

Kagome walked up to the boys and asked, “ Can I help you with something?”

“Yeah is this where the tournament is being held?” Yusuke asked as he walked forward. 'Odd,' he thought, ' most girls get scared whenever I walk up or pass them.'

“ Tournament? I'm sorry, but I believe you have the wrong address,” Kagome replied folding her arms across her chest.

“ But,” Kuwabara frantically began as he drew out a piece of paper, “ this has to be the place. Here! Here's the address we were given.” Kagome shifted to the left and walked up to Kuwabara.

“ May I see that?” Kagome asked. Kuwabara handed it over to her and watched Kagome look it over. She smiled and looked up. “ Well the address is correct, but this is a shrine and plus I live here,” Kagome said. “ I'm pretty sure there's no tournament here. That is if Grandpa hasn't been holding them without my family knowing.” Yusuke and Kuwabara's mouths dropped open. Hiei looked over at Kurama and inwardly said,
' We have a lot to explain don't we?' Kurama merely nodded his head.

“ Perhaps, Yusuke, Kuwabara, we should explain,” Kurama said drawing everyone's attenion towards him and Kurama bowed. “ Miss? May we accompany you and your lovely friend to the shrine? I have a few things to discuss with my friends here, but we wish to humbly ask of you to invite us to your shrine.”

' Well, isn't he polite?' Kira thought.Kagome smiled and bowed in return. “ I would be very honored if you would join us.” Kira nodded her head and crossed her arms. Kagome took the lead and was followed by Kira, Kurama, Hiei, Yusuke, and Kuwabara ( though the last two were hunched over, eyes wide opened, and mouths opened in astonishment). Kurama turned his head over his shoulder and shook his head at the expressions of Yusuke and Kuwabara. ' I fear this may take a while to clarify,' Kurama thought as he turned his head forward.
