Chapter 1 A New Beginning


“Bye, see you in three days.”

A young women with ebony wavy long hair tied up in a high pony tail, dressed in blue jeans and a white t-shirt with a large yellow ruck-sack strapped to her back, left Kaede’s hut with a slight spring in her step as she set of on her destination towards the bone eaters well. Within 15 minutes she had come in sight of the bones eaters well in Inuyasha’s Forest.

Kagome stopped briefly as she took a quick glance around with her eyes and mind, Kagome grinned she could feel a very familiar aura hidden in the trees near by. With a determined stance and a mischievous gleam in her eyes, she dashed off towards the well. Kagome was within 4 foot of the well, when a red blur appeared in front of her.

“Heh wench where do you think you’re sneaking of to.”

Inuyasha scowled at her, his body set in his favourite pose, arms settled in the sleeves of his red fire-rat hoari.
Kagome looked up into Inuyasha’s face innocently, widening her deep blue eyes as she stared up into his gold eyes, very prettily Kagome smiled at him, making Inuyasha blush slightly and also step back nervously.

“ Ka..Kagome what are you up ….. ”

“ Osuwari! ”

With that Inuyasha’s face met his best friend - dirt and without missing a step Kagome jumped over him, and leaped into the well yelling as she went.

“ Three days dog-boy or no Ramen. ”

Inuyasha just groaned back in answer as the blue light disappeared.


As the magic from the well faded, giggling was heard coming from the bottom of the well as Kagome climbed up the ladder, with a smirk as she reached the top. ‘ Poor Inuyasha, you would think after 3 years he would of learnt by now.’ , she thought as she peered out of the shrine hut, seeing the coast was clear she walked towards her house, with one dominant thought on her brain, ‘ Bath..bath..bath here I come ’.

Later that day found Kagome and her mother shopping in a local supermarket for Kagome’s return trip to the feudal era.

“ Look mum, there’s a special deal on the ramen, buy one get one free. ”

Whilst Kagome starting piling in a load of ramen packages suddenly she stiffened as she became aware of two aura’s coming closer to her ‘ demons ’, she thought but where at and that was when she glanced around and ended up staring straight into two intense green eyes….

(10 minutes earlier)

“ Man I’m so hungry. ”

Yusuke groaned as Kurama and he walked into the shop.

“ Mmm much as I appreciate you coming along to give me hand with shopping Yusuke, after hearing you say that for the last hour for about 70 times. It somehow makes me want to feed you to my Death Tree. ”

Kurama ever so polite but deadly voice replied back with ease. Yusuke grinned unperturbed with the threat.

“ Some one has to protect you from the fan girls. ”

Kurama just sighed at him and carried on down the aisle.

For the last 2 months Kurama and Yusuke had shared an apartment ever since Yusuke and Keiko had separated. Yusuke had returned about a year ago from his rigorous training in Makai, to control his now unleashed demon blood and of course his responsibilities of being heir to the Northern lands in Makai.

Almost immediately on his return he resumed his relationship with Keiko that had progressed to boyfriend and girlfriend. Unfortunately due to certain circumstances though not to Kurama’s surprise, the relationship didn’t last. Give Keiko her due, she did wait patiently for Yusuke’s return but she had resumed treating him the same as before, which Yusuke definitely now wasn’t.

Yusuke had returned as a much more mature person, his past experiences and training making him a much powerful and formidable man with demon blood running through him now. Even as a human Yusuke had taste for fighting, the thrill of it almost keeping him alive, and now as demon this along with other things had intensified.

Keiko though thought Yusuke would be returning to want a more normal life, not realising or understanding how hard this would be for him. Yusuke did try for Keiko, but because he hadn’t finished school, the jobs he tried for where low-paid and menial, but he did this for Keiko even though he was bored out his mind and as each day went by though a part of him died slightly too.

After a few months of being home and fired from another job because of his brusque attitude, Koenma came to Yusuke’s rescue unexpectedly, Koenma asked if Yusuke along with Kurama, Hiei and of course Kuwabara would like to reform the Spirit Detectives. When he also said they would get paid handsomely for it, Yusuke agreed and resumed his duties as a Spirit Detective along with Kurama who himself admitted that the last 3 years had been boring for him and Youko. Kuwabara though only worked occasionally as he was now studying hard to be a veterinary. Hiei surprisingly agreed to come back too, though for reasons never explained.

When Yusuke had happily explained to Keiko how he could now support them both in the future without struggling any more he thought she’d be a lot more happier. Keiko wasn’t though to his surprise, she couldn’t understand why he’d gone back to the Spirit Detectives, after a month of arguing the young couple split up after a very large disagreement.

Yusuke had never fully disclosed to Kurama what was said that day but what ever had been said had made Yusuke very upset and depressed for a while, Kurama did have inkling to what was said but he never brought it up out of consideration for Yusuke’s feelings. Youko had been quite pleased remarking that Keiko was a weak ningen who didn’t deserve the Detective.

Yusuke after his split with Keiko however had a bigger problem as he was now homeless, his mother Atsuke had died, the flat he had previously lived in with her caught fire one night and Atsuke flat out drunk in the living room never woke up to escape. This happened when Yusuke was training in Makai and when he had returned he’d been sleeping in a spare room at Keiko’s parents.

So Kurama who’d moved out and now had his own place asked if Yusuke would like to move in with him as he had plenty of room, his home was a spacious ground floor 3 bed roomed apartment with a large garden. Kurama did feel sorry for Yusuke but it was more than just that which made him ask. Kurama even if he did have Youko for company was lonely and though he did have his family, they of course didn’t know his secret nature and Yusuke brash and loud as he is did understand.

So for the last few months Yusuke had lived with him and he didn’t regret it either wishing he actually asked sooner, Yusuke also got on really well with his other spirit, privately Kurama thought it was because both where such large perverts.

Yusuke and he had just got back from a dangerous mission in Makai, they’d been there for nearly 3 weeks shutting down and clearing up a human slave camp along with capturing the demon masterminds behind it. Yusuke was starving and what was left to eat in the fridge un-edible, so after a quick nap and a shower, grabbing some clean clothes, blood and demon guts not quite the fashion accessory in Ningenkai, Kurama decided shopping for supplies was in order.

“ Hey she’s pretty hot. ”

Yusuke disturbing Kurama ’s inner musings along with waking up Youko.

*‘ Hey Red what’s up ’*, yawned out Youko.

#‘ Yusuke being his normal self of course. ’#, Kurama simultaneously turning to check out Yusuke’s current target, his eyes widened appreciatively which Youko echoed in thought.

A young woman with long black wavy hair just hanging below her waist, considering it would have been called unfashionable today in hair fashion styles, Kurama preferred it. Though he couldn’t see her face he could certainly appreciate her body, small in height she was she did have slim well toned legs which were shown nicely in a yellow dress which was cut of just above the knees, to Youko’s glee as the young women bent over looking at some products on a shelve, the dress tightened highlighting a curvy but toned figure from the back. Kurama wondered if the front was just as nice.

*‘ Mmmm she’s a dessert I wouldn’t mind buying. ’*, Youko moaned out deliciously husky.

#‘ With cream. ’#, Kurama agreed.

Yusuke was of course echoing the Kitsunes thoughts, since Keiko and himself had split up, he had had a couple of one nights stands but he’d never had been hit this hard with attack of attraction before not even with Keiko when he had returned from Makai.

As he and Kurama got closer to the young women who was shopping obviously with her mum, both stopped suddenly when they sensed a low but tightly controlled aura which vibrated from the girl.

“ What the …? ” Yusuke growled out.

*’ Well well well, I haven’t felt that type of energy for a very long time. ’*

#‘ Youko..? ’ #, Kurama who had tensed up wondered what Youko was keeping from him.

*’ She’s a priestess obviously, powerfully one too I gather from the way she’s controlling her powers, but still even though she’s dampening her aura, watch how it flares up now then almost as if its tasting her surroundings, the only reason we have noticed this, is because we have just gotten closer to her. ’*

“ What is she Kurama , does Youko know? ”

“ A Priestess I gather Yusuke. ”

Just as Kurama approached the young women, a wonderful scent of jasmine hit his senses along with a slight hint of vanilla, her aura flared out again this time wrapping itself around Kurama , a feeling of calm and peace hit him, just then the girl gasped and turned around, Yusuke and Kurama already feeling the effects from the girl’s aura didn’t gasp out in surprise as they both stared into the girl’s deep blue eyes set in a beautiful face.

*’ Perfect ’*, Youko purred out in delight Kurama had to agree.

This is my first time writing a fan fiction so please is nice or if not feedback on how to improve would definitely be appreciated. My muse is now tied up in a scary dark dungeon, so she doesn’t run of when I need her.
