Chapter 8 A Heated Curse

Kagome gasped and found herself awake and alone in her room, moonlight shining through a small gap in her curtains casting shadows. Panting heavily as her heart and pulse raced, Kagome rolled out of her bed tossing aside her quilt already in a tangle from her dream. With legs trembling Kagome walked to her bathroom, a wetness from below was felt as her thighs rubbed together. Kagome turned on the light, the harshness of it making her momentarily blink. She refreshed her face with cold water from the sink, as she raised her face she caught a glimpse of her herself making her hesitate from returning to her bed. All Kagome could see was her eyes in the mirror the rest of her features seemed blurred. What she saw reflected was what she felt in her body, a strong and unquenchable desire hit her, her lips were swollen and tender as she tasted them with the tip of her tongue.

‘Ohhhhhh Kami…..help me!’

It didn’t take Hiei, Yusuke and Yomi along with some of his men long to get to the cave. Shura had been left behind under watch and care of a healer and some guards to his disgust. Yomi though it was wise especially after the information Yusuke had given him, he had thought that it had just been a simply kidnapping, when he realised Kurama had his and Youko’s soul ripped out from the spell, he decided out of extra caution for Shura to be checked over thoroughly just in case any spells had cast upon him, especially as he had been given back so easily making him suspect a trap.


Hiei was currently scanning the barrier which covered the caves entrance with help from his Jagan, the semi-translucent barrier seemed strong but there was several small weakness in it.
Telepathically he sent a plan to Yusuke who nodded back in answer.
Hiei then jumped high and with his sword slashed down at the centre of the barrier and then flipped back in to his former position with a deadly grace. Yusuke eyed the barrier which now was rippling outwards from were Hiei had hit it. Without hesitation he then hit the barrier with one of his own attacks.

“Shot gun!”

The several small beams hit the rippling barrier in several places making the barrier distort even more until it suddenly burst and dissipated away.

Yomi ordered two of his lackeys to enter the cave, quickly two of them hurried into the cave to scout it out. After 15 minutes, one of the demons returned and promptly reported to Yomi.

“My lord, the cave is deserted bar one body which I believe to be your companions friend. He is uninjured and unconscious.”

Yomi just grunted, Hiei and Yusuke with out further delay swiftly entered the cave with Yomi following behind.

The caves entrance led into a low ceilinged tunnel, the floor rough and uneven, not before long it then came into a large cavernous space, the damp caves walls were covered in moss which let of a strange blue glow. In the centre of the cave lay Kurama which Yomi’s servant was guarding. As soon as they reached Kurama, Yusuke kneeled down beside him and quickly checked him over, whilst Hiei kept a wary watch on their surroundings. As for Yomi though blind, his other senses were more than adequate on keeping a wary guard to.

“He’s fine it seems, but I don’t know for sure yet, best return to Spirit World quickly and get him checked out there.” Yusuke told the others and then went to pick up Kurama’s body.

Suddenly every one tensed as presence was made aware to them. A low laugh was heard, it seemed as it was coming from the back of the cave, the darkness covering whoever it was. Though no noise was heard even by Yomi, a figure suddenly came out of the shadows, Hiei’s eyes narrowed, even with his excellent eyesight he hadn’t seen or sensed any one else in the cave, where had he come from, Hiei’s grip tightened on his sword, as for Yusuke with help from Yomi’s servant had managed to drape Kurama’s body over one shoulder.

“I expected you sooner.”

The voice obviously male spoke to them as the figure got closer to them. Hiei’s mind detached checked over their opponent. The male had no scent at all, nor could anything be felt from him either, no spiritual or demon aura at all. Whatever he was, he was strongly shielded, even his Jagan couldn’t penetrate man defences. The light glow from the moss cast a low light making visitors able to finally see the intruder. He was slightly taller than Hiei, about 5ft 4in in height with a slim build, clothed entirely in black with a black mask hiding the lower of his face, a gleam of silvery eyes stared at them in amusement, his body entirely too relaxed. Hiei felt as if the man was mocking them in some way by not taking them seriously enough. The man spoke once more, though not to them at first more as if he was speaking his thoughts aloud before focusing on the small group.

“Well well well, I wonder who broke the spell, was it the ugly human detective, his power was high but I didn’t think he would be able to break it, well no matter I don’t care, it just makes the game more interesting for me and my master. Tell me Lord Hiei did you enjoy kissing the ningen, I‘ve heard of your dislike of that ningen as well. Tell me did you have to force yourself to kiss him or is your dislike of him just hiding what you really feel.”

Hiei snarled and sped towards to attack him with his sword, to Hiei’s surprise it went right through the man’s body as it turned into a dark green mist and then the mist floated and spread above them all. As for Yusuke he looked on in disgust realising what the voice was suggesting, knowing Hiei if anything did not like males in such ways.

“Tut tut, how rude, or did I hit a nerve.”, a voice came from it admonishing Hiei.

“Hiei calm down.” Yusuke shouted at the growling hybrid.

“Yes calm down as your friend suggests, I have something to tell you both, well actually warn you really.” The laughter apparent in the disembodied voice.

“What is it you wish to tell us.” Yomi until now quiet spoke, sensing what ever was going to be said wouldn’t be nice.

“Of course by now you have been cured, or you wouldn’t be standing here now. But tell me, do you know the full side affects of the spell or did that nincompoop of a prince not tell you. Knowing what a coward he is I doubt it. Well anyways as you know the way to break the spell was to get someone with sufficient spiritual powers and also that someone had to have a certain type of link to the cursed ones to break it with the kiss. Well I wonder if you were also told that the kiss was just a temporary cure, it will only last a short while, before your spirit will re-separate from the body once more and this time the separation is permanent too.”

“What!”

“How do we cure them permanently?”

“Lord Yomi, do you think I will actually tell them that?”

“Yes I do!”

“Ku ku ku, just what I expected from a former bandit. Of course you are right I will be telling you and I take great delight in telling you to.”

Hiei, his anger slowly dissipating and Yusuke were getting tenser and tenser waiting for the answer, something was bothering Hiei though and he was glad for once that Yusuke had kept calm and not shouted out anything as normal, used to the detective acting without thinking. What was bothering Hiei was the comment early, the one about Kuwabara curing them, obviously their enemy didn’t know it was the priestess that had cured them. For some reason the voice had a great amount of satisfaction and smugness in him when suggesting that the baka Kuwabara had cured him. The thought of it making him nearly sick with revulsion of the thought. Whatever he had a feeling what ever the true cure was he wouldn’t like it, especially from what the voice was insinuating.

“The one who kissed you is very important for if anything should happen to him especially before the true kiss, you would suffer greatly. I have seen and heard how demons suffer when one is in heat, the need to rut, making one burn with need to satisfy their hunger. One must have a great will and strength to overcome and control it. Well imagine this burning heat magnified a ten times. Well this is what the cursed and temporary bonded one will suffer, slowly at first but before a moon cycle is over, a raging thirst they both will suffer with the end result being the bonded one dying and the cursed spirit leaving his body once more for ever if a true bond isn‘t done.” The glee in the voice had gotten stronger and stronger as it went along.

“You fucking sicko of a bastard, why the hell did you do such a thing, we’ve never even met you for Kami’s sake.” Yusuke brief moment of calmness now destroyed and his blood was raging for some payback against this unknown opponent.

“Why? That question is only something that my master can answer I’m afraid though I must admit I am enjoying the first results of his plan, it worked better than I hoped. Now I must take my leave, I have what I need from the pretty one and I find I’m getting a little bit bored with you now.”

“Hey what did you do to Kurama you sick fucker.”

“Oh nothing much, just a gentle touch here and there, no harm I assure you.”

The mist started to move to the back of the cave and very slowly dispersed in the darkness.

“Some advice before I leave gentleman, I wouldn’t fight against the effects too long as the longer you fight against it that more painfully it will be for you and your bonded one. I do feel sorry for the young ningen, imagine when he finds out that he has to mate with 2 demons and possible another if the avatar wish’s is to proceed with the first kiss curing him temporarily. I hope the ningen has plenty of stamina, to deal with all of you.”

The mist finally disappeared leaving now two very angry spirit detectives.

“What the fuck do we do now Hiei, we will have to tell…”, a voice in Yusuke’s mind interrupted him abruptly.

**’ Shut up, wait till we return to Spirit World, he could be still around and I don’t want him to find any more than he already knows or should I say assume to know.’**
‘What do you mean assume to know?’
**’ Are you related to the baka detective?’**
‘Hey I resent that.’
**’ I’l say this once, for some reason he and who ever he works for, think that Kuwabara has cured us not the miko.’**
‘Huh.’
**’ If they find out, the miko could be in danger.’**
‘I didn’t think you cared.’
**’ I don’t, just she is the one that can only cure us now.’**
‘Hey that means we have to….’

Yusuke’s face went bright red at first and then his mind went wild with some naughty thoughts but then back to reality.

‘We don’t know if she will agree to this Hiei. We both smelt the purity coming from her and I’m not just talking about her powers either.’
**’ Hnn. We just have to wait and see detective, besides we shall return first and see that imbecile of a spirit ruler to see if there is anything else that he has kept from us.’**
‘Yeah you’re right besides that they maybe another way of curing us besides that.’

“ So Kagome how’s that two-timing boyfriend of yours?”

Yuka’s voice cutting through her thoughts making Kagome blush.

“What are you thinking of Kagome, is must have been something nice.”

“Errrr..!”

“Don’t tell me you and your boyfriend have finally …?”, squealed Eri.

“What! Noooo.. I’ve told you, me and Inuyasha are not like that now, we were just good friends that’s all.”

“What do you mean were just good friends, has something happened?”

Ayumi catching on quickly to how Kagome had phrased her answer.

“Well he has erm…” Kagome’s mind raced how to explain to her friends about Inuyasha, for all she knew he could be dead by now.

“Has he moved away?” Eri asked curiously making Kagome thank her privately

“Yes that’s right he’s moved away.”

“Oh I bet you will miss him then.” Ayumi had felt more than the others just how much Inuyasha had meant to Kagome.

“Yes I will.” Kagome smiled sadly. “So I hear congratulations is in order than.”

“Ohhh who told you.” Ayumi smiled wildly in delight.

“Your mother had told mine the other day on the phone.”

“Oh I wanted too.”

After that the conversation from the group was about weddings, etc. Kagome was glad she had come out when Ayumi had phoned her early that morning asking if she wanted to go shopping with her and the others, her mother had literally pushed her out the door, giving her some money to buy something nice, which she had and then the group of girls decided to finish of in Wacdonalds which they hadn’t been to in ages.

“So have you decided which colleges to go to yet.” Eri asked Kagome with interest.

Kagome scowled slightly at the thought, her friends had graduated from school early than her because of the so-called illness she had over the last three years, she had been allowed an extension on her exams which with her being home educated now she had just finally done. She hadn’t even been thinking about them actually as the last few days had been rather hectic. She had just finished them the other day and then Inuyasha had dragged her back for the completion of the Shikon no Tama which then brought her home forever, then she had met Botan and the Spirit Detectives. So she had no idea about her results, thankfully her mother was fine about what ever she would get knowing as along as she had tried her hardest which she had even with her busy lifestyle.

“I’m taking a year out.”

“What… but what about college and others things.” Yuki squawked.

“You mean college boys.” Eri giggled, Yuki blushed back in answer.

“On hold for now but maybe next year.”

“So what are you going to do for now than, help your grandfather around the shrine.”

“Yes but only part-time, I’m actually going to look for a temp job.”

“Really, hey I’ve heard that Wacdonalds is taking on, just think of the discount.” Ayumi slyly said, Kagome just sniffed.

“I’m not sure yet what I am going to put in for, I haven’t really looked. Do you guys know of any one who’s taking on?”

Eri and Yuki said no in answer as for Ayumi suddenly she smiled brightly.

“Hey Houjo was saying the other day that his dad and mum were looking for some new staff what with at their pharmacy, Houjo’s now going to medical school so he can’t help out as much and one of the ladies working there has just quit too.”

“Yeah that would be an excellent job for you Kagome, I mean you’ve had so many illness you’re probably acquainted with most of medicines they sell.”

“Ha ha ha, very funny Yuki.”

Kagome though in hindsight actually though it was a good idea, maybe she would go for it. She didn’t have to worry about Houjo now as he was engaged to Ayumi.

“So do you want to me to ask Houjo for you?”

“Could you Ayumi, thanks.”

The girls chatted on about what plans for the weekend they all had, Kagome occasionally joining
in when suddenly she became aware of a slight flux in the air surrounding her, a small portal opened and out came Botan flying through making Kagome’s eyes bulge out in shock and spit out some of the fries she nearly choked on.
Her friends totally unaware to the girl flying just above them on a oar were asking if Kagome was okay. Botan seeing Kagome’s dilemma quickly grinned.

“It’s okay Kagome they can’t see me at the moment.”

Kagome just nodded and then looked at her watch on purpose.

“I’m really sorry but its time for me to go now, I have some chores to do at home.”

“Sure Kagome, I’ll phone you tonight after I’ve asked Houjo for you, okay?”

“Cheers.”

With a brief wave to them, Kagome walked out Wacdonalds with her bags, Botan following as she quickly walked down a small alley which led to backs of some shops, which at the moment was deserted.

“Sorry to take you away Kagome but Hiei and Yusuke are back from Makai, they’ve managed to find and retrieve Kurama.”

“Oh that’s great, but they didn’t get hurt did they.”

Botan glanced at Kagome with a slight wince, Hiei and Yusuke had returned late last night with Kurama’s body, and after threatening Koenma, informed him and the rest about the information giving to them about the curse. Koenma had fainted when he heard what Lady Kagome would have to do to cure them permanently. Botan didn’t blame Kagome if she refused of course in the mean time Koenma had nearly most of his staff searching for other ways to cure the boys, so far they had come with zero results.

“No they are fine but they did find out some disturbing news.”

“Really what.”

“Erm Prince Koenma will tell you.”

“Why, does it have something to do with me?”

Sweat had appeared on Botan’s forehead, no way was she telling, she was too scared to.

“Yes but I’m afraid you’ll have to wait till we return to Spirit World.”

“Okay.”

Prince Koenma was sitting behind his desk feeling rather sick whilst waiting for Botan to return with Lady Kagome. Most of his team were also waiting there too, Kurama’s body was getting thoroughly checked over by his medical team worried from what was relayed to him by Hiei and Yusuke. So the spirit Kurama was with them waiting for their results as for Youko he was waiting in Koenma’s office. Youko since finding out the teams new knowledge about spell had been acting rather unusual, he sat straddled over chair his tails waving to and fro, with an amused gleam in his eyes, this made Koenma even more nervous and scared than having Hiei’s furious gaze on him instead.
The doors opened and in came Kurama looking rather angry.

“So what did the quacks say?”

“Yes Kurama what did my medical team say.”

Yusuke watched Kurama pace room his fist’s clenched and body tense. Any other day he would be amused to see the most calm and collected member of his team acting in a manner not normally seen, but not at the moment out of respect of what his friend was going through.

“They still haven’t finished but from what they have gathered, some of my blood and hair has been taken.”

“What!!! What the fuck do they need that for.”

“I do not know Yusuke.”

“Anything else.” Hiei’s voice cutting in.

“No everything else is fine. My body hasn’t been hurt or anything else.”

“You mean they haven’t…” Yusuke couldn’t finish what had been on his mind every since that man had so eloquently said to him and Hiei ‘Oh nothing much, just a gentle touch here and there, no harm I assure you’. The innuendo in the man’s voice had brought images in his brain which had made shudder angrily
.
“No my body hasn’t been abused in any other way.”

“Well that’s okay then.” Kurabara looked on at Kurama with his idiotic smile.

“Do you really think so. I don’t, they have stolen from me even though it’s just blood and hair. Knowing that my body was in their hands and vulnerable is not amusing to me.”

Youko jumped of the chair with elegance and walked to Kurama and rested his hand on the young man’s shoulder.

“They will pay.”

“Hnn.”

Once more the doors of Koenma’s office flew open this time it was Botan who was escorting Kagome. All eyes straight on Kagome who smiled nervously back. Youko and Yusuke grinned, whilst Hiei just snorted in disgust, Kurama’s anger briefly gone for the moment as he flushed slightly. Kuwabara and Botan just blushed wildly as they all knew next what was going to be said to the miko.
As for Kagome she just swallowed hard, she had a rather bad feeling in her stomach and it wasn’t to do with the double cheese burger and fries with a chocolate milkshake she had just eaten at Wacdonalds either.

Koenma’s face was rather pale as he stood up now in his teenager form and bowed to the miko, his hands were trembling and he was feeling extremely embarrassed, even more embarrassed than the time his father, King Yomi had decided to give him the talk about the birds and the bees, Koenma shuddered in remembrance.

“Hello Lady Kagome, I hope you have recovered from yesterday.”

“Yes thank you Prince Koenma for asking.”

“Good .. good ….. erm why don‘t you sit down, I have something to tell you which is rather important.”

Kagome promptly sat down in the chair Youko had just vacated though turning it around to face Koenma first. Every one was making her feel rather scared and nervous especially the way they were staring at her.

“Well Lady Kagome it seems we have some new news which is connected to you and the spirit detectives. It has to do with the spell actually which you cured only yesterday. Well not actually fully cured only just temporarily cured it now seems. Now I understand if you don’t want to go through with this, I am not pressurising you at all, it is your choice of course no one else’s. Be side’s I am looking in to other ways around it so maybe this talk you could ignore at a later point if we find a other cure….and of course hopefully…..” Koenma’s voice was getting squeakier as he started to explain to Kagome who was looking at him with a very puzzled and pale face.

“Stop babbling toddler and just fucking tell her, you are making her feel worse.”

“I’m so sorry…. I …”

“I’ll tell her.” Came from Hiei with a glare at Koenma who sat down with terrified whimper.
Hiei walked over and stood in front of Kagome with a cold face which then turned into a small smirk.

“It’s like this onna…”

Outside were several busy ogres running around doing their normal spirit world day to day business, when suddenly they were all stopped by a loud shriek.
“Whattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt&# 8230;…”

A/N
In the next chapter Kagome finds she has some hard thinking to do about the Hiei, Yusuke and of course Kurama and Youko. What will she do?
My muse has some ideas, I bet you readers do too. He he he he (dirty laugh).
